YAY new chapter! I waited so long to get up to this point as I had this scene running in my head over and over since coming up with the idea and finally its out for all of you to read.
ENJOY!
All Kelsey could do was to gape at the woman who was claiming to be her mother. Words couldn't form as her thoughts began to spin out of control. What? She thought, shaking her head in disbelief. Not possible.
"But how? How can you be my mother? My mother is back on Earth; she gave birth to me, raised me," stuttered Kelsey, her fingers trembling under the hold of Ilmarë's hands. Her breathing became erratic and she had to quickly close her eyes to calm herself.
"Long ago, when Middle Earth was created one of the Valar, Melkor betrayed the Valar and sided with the Darkness; an entity that devoured the light. The Darkness was discovered at the same time as the Void; both fighting to gain control. It is believed that the Darkness and the Void were once bound together but something happened to make them separate," said Ilmarë, causing Kelsey to open her eyes and stare intently at her, intrigued by the story. "As Melkor and the Darkness began their torment on the world and its inhabitants, a prophecy was foretold: a child born of light will be the one to vanquish the Darkness and its hold. For thousands of years there was no such child, until I had you."
"Having you was a miracle itself, as I am unable to have children since I am the Guardian Spirit of the Stars. Instead I have the responsibility to create Star Guardians from the death of pure-hearted souls. Star Guardians are made to protect the stars and aid Middle Earth when in need. You are a Star Guardian, Merilwen but much more stronger and powerful. Born from me and the Moon God, Tillion, you are destined to destroy the Darkness once and for all."
"But if I am your daughter, why did you send me away?" asked Kelsey, somehow keeping calm. She felt that this woman was telling the truth and she just simply had to listen.
"Your father and I knew that until you were old enough to handle your power, the Darkness would do anything in its path to corrupt you. We asked the Void to send you away for safe keeping until it was time to return you. It sent you to Earth a few days after you born and that's when your Earth parents found you; raised you to be the woman you are now."
"You're wearing my necklace," smiled Ilmarë, reaching out to the amethyst pendant swinging from Kelsey's neck; the stone practically humming with power. Kelsey had never felt it do that before.
"My father, uh my Earth father gave it to me when I turned ten and for some reason it felt important to me so I never take it off. Now I understand why," smiled Kelsey.
"I put in the basket with you, hoping it would keep you safe. It helps putting the Darkness at bay. But I understand that you have cancer, correct?" asked Ilmarë, pushing a strand of Kelsey's hair back behind her ear. Kelsey nodded and gave her mother a sad smile. "My dear child, it is not the natural cancer. You see, the magic shield we placed on you to supress your power while you were growing up, has a bond with the Void. It created the cancer to signal the Void to bring you home when you were ready. I have the capability to remove it but alas there is a downfall with removing the shield. Because the magic made you an Earth body, your soul as Merilwen has been split into two. Right at this moment, in your world, you are lying on a hospital in a coma."
Kelsey could see tears well up in her mother's eyes, threatening to fall. She heard a slight tremor in her voice when she spoke those words.
"If I had known this was going to happen to you, Merilwen, I would have never sent you away. In order for your soul to become one again, you have to die in both worlds."
"Mother, if it is my fate to die then so be it, but I will not die before destroying the Darkness. I am going to help my friends reclaim Erebor, so I need you to get rid of this cancer because right now, it is killing me," stated Kelsey, accepting her fate. She knew she couldn't dwindle in the past and that she had to be there for the dwarves to reclaim their homeland.
"My beautiful daughter, it seems you have inherited the stubbornness of your father and I. I will remove the shield and when it's gone, you will start to feel your power. But by doing so, the Darkness will know you have returned. Do not let it corrupt you."
Ilmarë gracefully stood up and held up her hand to lead Kelsey somewhere. Looking up to her mother, Kelsey began to notice that she did look a lot like Ilmarë; the same eyes, the same cheekbones, they even shared the fair skin.
"Come, before you leave I would like to you to meet someone."
…
Kelsey emerged from the water, taking in massive breaths; startling the sitting dwarves. Coughing to clear the water out from her lungs, she clambered to the edge of the pond where she felt several hands reach for her arms and helped her out. A massive, warm towel suddenly appeared around her and she leaned into the familiar arms of Kili who held her tight.
"Kelsey, where have you been?" he asked, rubbing her arms to help her get warm. "It is almost nightfall."
"I met her," she stuttered, as she began to dry her face. "I met Ilmarë."
"Who is she then," asked Balin, a small smile on his face in reassurance.
"My mother," Kelsey laughed, slowly standing up, noticing that she no longer felt weak and fragile. She felt strong and refreshed. "My real mother."
"And did she answer your questions, Merilwen?" asked Lady Galadriel as she appeared in Kelsey's sight. Her eyes widen at the use of her name by Lady Galadriel but it didn't quite surprise her that much since Lady Galadriel was a very wise and old elf.
"Yes, yes she did."
"Wait, hang on a second. Your real mother? Who is Merilwen?" questioned Kili, confusion scattered across his face. That same confusion was on everyone's face. Kelsey simply laughed again and patted Kili's arm.
"I am Merilwen," she replied before standing up straight and tall, almost regal-looking. The dwarves noticed that colour was settling back into herself. Her cheeks returned to their normal pink hue, her hair full of life and bounced around her face and shoulders. Her eyes twinkled as she looked at each and every dwarf. "And I am a Guardian of the Stars."
Please review as they really do help me write. It makes me sad when I don't see any, especially I have given you all three chapters within a week which I think is a record for me at this moment. Hope you all had a lovely day and if you have any questions, please ask away and I will try to answer them without giving too much away.
Xx
p.s I imagined Kelsey's father, the Moon God Tillion, to be a present day Tom Welling, who I think is just as gorgeous as he was when I first saw him on Smallville
