New chapter! Would have had this chapter out the other day but I've been spending some good quality time with my boyfriend so I had to delay its release.
Also if you are a fan of Teen Wolf or Doctor Who, I have two new stories that might interest you. They are still in early stages but would be great if you checked them out and let me know what you think of them.
Struggling against her captors and having them claw through her tunic sleeves, Kelsey tried to take in her surroundings for some way to escape this horrible horde of goblins. It was getting too dark for her to see and it terrified her. The darkness was snuffing out the little light that she had inside and wariness was kicking in. She was exhausted and was slowly giving up the fight. Sorry, mother.
NO!
A familiar voice rung in the mountain, a series of tremors rumbling through the wooden bridges; startling the goblins. Waking up from her depressed trance, Kelsey recognised her mother's voice and realised she was letting herself go towards the Darkness, corrupting her. Strength returning to her wary bones, she lashed out; pushing multiple goblins over the edge to tumble to their deaths. Rest of them bolted when they realised that the captured star wasn't as weak as they thought.
"It seems your mother refused to let you give up," said a voice behind her, causing Kelsey to spin around to come face to face with a grinning Gandalf.
"Gandalf," she sighed, flinging her arms around his shoulders in a tight hug. She was relieved that the wizard was finally here. "The dwarves have been captured!"
"Very aware of the situation, my dear," Gandalf claimed, patting her on the back in assurance and proceeded to travel back down the tunnel towards the noisy commotion. "Shall we see that brilliant power of yours?"
"But Gandalf, I don't know how to summon it, let alone control it," enlightened Kelsey, as she caught up to him. She was wary of using her ancient power and unsure how much damage it could do; doubts swimming in her mind.
"Don't let your fear hinder you, Merilwen. Breathe and find it deep within yourself," explained Gandalf, as they drew nearer to the goblins and the dwarves. She could see them struggling against their captors; a single figure separated and tackled to the ground. Kelsey recognised that it was Thorin and raced forward, her fists shaking in anger.
"…cut off his head," screeched the Great Goblin.
Suddenly, there was a massive explosion of bright light; the sound muted as a shockwave rips through the area, flinging goblins in the air, destroying the torture machines and knocking everyone down, including the Great Goblin. When the force of the explosion passed, most of the lights in the area had been snuffed out and two shadows lingered in the background. One revealed to be Gandalf holding his staff and his sword, Glamdring. The other shadow revealed as a very furious Star Guardian, her hands outstretched in front of her, a faint light resonating from them. Lights slowly return to normal as the goblins and the dwarves slowly looked up, recovering from the shockwave. Staring at Gandalf and Kelsey, the dwarves came to their senses when Gandalf shouted at them.
"Take up arms. Fight. Fight!"
Goblins ran at Gandalf who quickly kills them with his sword and staff; Kelsey managing to find her sword and bow amongst the chaos. The Great Goblin, still lying on the ground, sees Gandalf's sword and points at it, crying aloud to his goblins.
"He wields the Foe-Hammer, the Beater, bright as daylight!"
Some of the dwarves reached their pile of weapons and began to toss them to each other, using their weapons to defeat the goblins around them. Oin managed to reclaim his hearing trumpet, although it had been flattened by a trampling goblin. Nori, while fighting suddenly lands on the ground, getting the attention from the Great Goblin who proceeded to swing his mace at him.
"Nori!" screamed Kelsey, rushing forward to help but was beaten by Thorin who jumped forward with his sword and deflected the Great Goblin's blow, causing the Goblin to stumble backward and fall off the edge of his platform, falling to the depths below. The rest of the dwarves, Gandalf and Kelsey continued to fight.
"Follow me. Quick! Run!" shouted Gandalf, leading them down a pathway away from the throne room. Kili had quickly given Kelsey a hug and a do-over for any injuries but found none. She simply smiled at him; sighing that she was back with her friends.
Running through the suspended passageways of Goblin Town and chased by hundreds of goblins, Kelsey couldn't help but smile. Adrenaline was coursing through her veins and she felt more alive than ever; sense of belonging.
"Post!" barked Dwalin, as several goblins running at them in front. He and some of the dwarves cut a guardrail post from the side of the path and held it out in front of them like a massive spear. "Charge!"
He and the other dwarves charged at the oncoming wave of goblins, sweeping them away with the long rail. Dropping the rail, Dwalin pulled out his war axes and began to knocking aside the goblins; the rest of the company following. Gloin hits one goblin who falls and landed on another suspended path, breaking the path and dropping all the goblins on it into the chasm below. Several goblins snarl as they swing on the ropes towards the dwarves.
"Cut the ropes!" yelled Thorin, as he and the others cut the ropes holding a raised platform in place; the platform falling outward and entangling the swinging goblins with their own ropes. Kelsey and Kili fighting side by side until the latter was being shot at by goblins. He deflect the arrows with his sword with surprise and grabbed a nearby ladder, dropping it on the oncoming goblins. Kili, Kelsey and some of the dwarves ran forward, pushing the ladder and the goblins it had trapped. Approaching a missing area of the path, the goblins fell down into the darkness; but the ladder acted as a bridge for the dwarves to cross, Dwalin breaking the ladder as soon as they were crossed.
"Quickly!" bellowed Gandalf, as they continued running through the maze-like paths. They get to a section of the path suspended by ropes from above and sliced some ropes, causing it swing away from the rest of the pathway, approaching a different path.
"Jump!"
Several of the dwarves manage to jump to the other side; however before the rest can, the suspended path swung back like a pendulum to where it started, several goblins leaping on. Kelsey summoned some balls of light and chucked them at the waiting goblins, as the path swung back again and the rest jumped to the other side; cutting the ropes. Continued running through the tunnels, Gandalf strikes a rock above them with his staff, causing the rock to fall down in front of the Company and squashing all goblins in their way. Kili held Kelsey's hand to make sure she wouldn't trip over the bodies which she was thankful. Soon enough, they approached a bridge between two walls of the cavern. As they tried to cross it, the Great Goblin suddenly breaks through from beneath the bridge and pulled himself onto the bridge, in front of the panting Company.
"You thought you could escape me?" sneered the Great Goblin, staring directly at Kelsey. A surge of power went through her and her hands resonating once again with a bright light; she charged at the Great Goblin, only to be stopped by Kili, Fili and Dwalin. He laughed and swung his mace at Gandalf, who stumbled back and almost fell if not held up by Gloin and Nori.
"What are you going to do now, wizard?" mocked the great Goblin, before Gandalf leaped forward, striking him in the eye with his staff, causing the Goblin to drop his mace and clutches his face in pain. Gandalf then sliced across the great Goblin's belly, who fell to his knees, clutching his belly. "That'll do it."
With another big swing, Gandalf slices its fat neck; causing him to fall down dead. His weight causes the bridge to start shaking and crumbling; suddenly the section of the bridge where the Company stood breaks away from the rest and proceeded to slide down the side of the cavern, in a terrific, unnatural speed, demolishing everything in its way. The dwarves clung on, screaming in terror. Kelsey found herself wedged between Kili and Dwalin; a small, sharp piece of wood threateningly close to her left side near her hip.
The bridge finally slowed down and landed at the base of the cavern, breaking apart and burying the Company in the timber. Gandalf stumbled as he gets up from the pile of the wreckage and inspects the others who were still stuck.
"Well, that could have been worse," claimed Bofur, just as the heavy corpse of the great Goblin landed on the wreckage, squishing the dwarves further. Kelsey cried out as the piece of wood found itself in her side with excruciating pain. She managed to pull her feet from beneath the wood just as Kili screamed out at the sight of thousands of goblins running at them.
"Gandalf!"
"There's too many! We can't fight them," said Dwalin, helping Kelsey up and flinched at her cry out in pain. Blood had begun to pool on her white tunic and corset; a look of worry sprang on the older dwarf's face.
"Only two things that will save us: Kelsey's white light or daylight," explained Gandalf, confused when Dwalin shook his head.
"Kelsey is in no shape to use her power again. She is losing too much blood," cried Kili, lifting up the pale girl in his arms.
"Daylight it is. Come on! Here, on your feet!" shouted Gandalf as they all raced to escape the clutches of the goblins.
And once again, Kelsey is injured. I wasn't planning for her to get injured but I want her to be a damsel in distress one more time before the major events occurred where she really shows her becoming a hero that Middle Earth needs.
