Just realised that I have been working on this story for 4 years…woops…hopefully I can do better than that to bring you more updates. Here it is! The last chapter for the first movie. I have decided to just do one continuous story instead of breaking it up.

Watching helplessly, hanging onto a broken branch, Kelsey silently cried as she saw Thorin, a dwarf she had begun to respect, be thrown around like a ragdoll by the White Warg; its rider roaring in victory. Dwalin tried to get off his branch to assist but it broke causing him to swing precariously over the edge and unable to reach his best friend. Kelsey felt a surge of anger as Thorin hit the warg with the pommel of his sword; it roaring in pain as the warg throws Thorin several feet away onto a flat rock nearby. Thorin lands heavily, his sword falling out of his hand and he begun to lose consciousness.

Kelsey caught movement in the corner of her eye and watched as this little hobbit pull himself up from his branch and unsheathed his sword before charging. He threw himself at an approaching orc near Thorin and managed to kill it; taking an protective stance in front of the now unconscious Thorin. Feeling hands on hers, Kelsey looked up to see that both Kili and Fili had pulled themselves up and had anger across their features. Following them and Dwalin, they plough through the wargs and started to fight them.

Kelsey sent multiple balls of light in the faces of oncoming wargs; their retreating forms almost made her smile. This display caught the attention of Azog as he watched this petite woman strong with power. A power that his Master would be very interested in. Suddenly, strong gusts of wind stopped the fighting as the Eagles that Gandalf had called upon, arrived. Kelsey saw one lift Kili and Fili with its talons and she had a sudden surge to leap off the cliff, a new sense of a daredevil. If I am meant to die when defeating the Darkness, I may as well have a little fun.

With a running start, she soared off the cliff, a scream of excitement escaped her lips. The air whistled in her ears as she descended at a rapid speed. Landing on a back of thick feathers, the Eagles flew off, leaving the Orcs roaring in anger.

The Eagles soared through the sky over a great distance and over many landscapes. Kelsey, nestled in the warm feathers, looked at the scenery in awe. Middle Earth was truly a beautiful place and she wanted to save it and its inhabitants as best as she can from the Darkness.

"Thorin!" shouted Fili, above her as their leader lied limply in one Eagle's talons. They finally approached a massive rock structure shaped liked a bear. Quickly sliding down her eagle's side she bolted over to where the Company had formed a huddle around their fallen leader. Gandalf knelt down next to him and mutters a spell. Thorin's eyes fluttered open and he gasped for air; Kelsey sighing with relief as Kili wrapped an arm around her shoulder in comfort.

"The Halfling?" Thorin asked, weakly.

"It's all right. Bilbo is here. He is quite safe," assured Gandalf, as Dwalin and Kili, who left Kelsey's side to help his uncle, help him up to his feet. He shrugs them off and approaches Bilbo with one stride.

"You! What were you doing? You nearly got yourself killed! Did I not say that you would be a burden? That you would not survive in the wild and that you had no place amongst us?" said Thorin, as he advances until he was face to face with Bilbo who looked worried and frightened. Before Kelsey could speak in annoyance, Thorin's next words surprised her.

"I've never been so wrong in all my life."

Thorin grabs Bilbo and embraces him deeply while the other dwarves cheered loudly and slapped each other on the back. Kelsey just smiled as she watched this budding friendship of respect and admiration formed.

"I am sorry I doubted you," claimed Thorin as he took a step back from Bilbo.

"No I would have doubted me too. I'm not a hero or a warrior…not even a burglar."

"I think you are a hero, Bilbo," smiled Kelsey as she hugged the hobbit once again. The others nodded in agreement as the Eagles flew away, screeching. Thorin looks beyond Bilbo and see something in the distance and strides forward, the others following his gaze. Kelsey looked far at the horizon, gazing at the outline of a single, solitary mountain.

"Erebor – The Lonely Mountain. The last of the great dwarf kingdoms of Middle-Earth," announced Gandalf. Then a bird flew over them, chirping away.

"A raven! The birds are returning to the mountain," laughed Oin.

"That, my dear Oin, is a thrush," Gandalf corrected the old dwarf.

"But we will take it as a sign – a good omen," said Thorin, smiling down at Bilbo.

"You are right. I do believe the worst is behind us," smiled Bilbo, sighing in relief. Just at the sight of the close yet far mountain and Bilbo's words, sent shivers down Kelsey's spine. She knew deep down in her ancient power that the worse is still up ahead. But for that moment, she appreciated the presence of her friends and that they were still alive.

For now.

Thank you readers who have stayed with this story for the past 4 years. I promise to do more updates and to finally finish this story as I have many more ideas for a sequel.

Please review and let me know what you think. The reviews are a great motivation for me. Til next time readers!
