House Arrest
Kaisa once again found herself in front of the Dowager Queen Mynisera who looked up at her expectantly. Curtsying in respect as a Dowager Queen is due, Kaisa began her tale of Sir Regebert.
"I'm afraid our dear imperial messenger took his instructions a little too literally."
"What do you mean?" Mynisera asked cocking her head to the side in a sign of confusion.
"His instructions where to give the letter to the Queen of Daggerfall. By the time he made it to Daggerfall that position had changed to Queen Aub-ki. Instead of using his brain and giving the letter to the obvious intended person, he gave it to Queen Aub-ki instead."
"Stupid boy," Mynisera said shaking her head.
"When I questioned Queen Aub-ki about the letter she claimed to have never read the letter but several witnesses claimed she did read the letter and whatever its contents made her very excited. Whatever was in that letter was important enough for her to bury it and risk the Emperor's wrath. The fact that it was apparently stolen that night supports the apparent importance of that letter," Kaisa said shrugging.
"We must find out what was in that letter! I have never trusted Aub-ki, whatever her scheme, it is not for the benefit of the Empire."
"I agree, my Lady."
"You must find this letter as soon as possible.'
"My Lady, I already know who has the letter. Gortwog, Lord of the orcs purchased the letter from whoever stole it. The letter is still in his possession."
"Then I believe I can aid you. Gortwog and I have corresponded in the past and there is a certain level of respect between us. Gortwog has been seeking recognition as a formal province of the Empire. Take this letter to him and it should get you into the compound. Hopefully Gortwog will simply hand the letter over to you in respect to me, if not…it will put you in a position to steal it back," Mynisera said as she quickly wrote out the letter.
"Thank you, my Lady," Kaisa said taking the letter with a slight curtsy.
"Now go, we have precious little time."
"At once, my Lady," Kaisa said taking three steps back before turning around.
At once was a bit of a white lie as Kaisa was not planning on going straight to the orc stronghold. Instead, Kaisa planned to go see the late King's mistress, Lady Medora. It was closer and Medora would be another ally in her mission due to her being the late King's lover and more than likely wanting revenge. Unfortunately, that meant another boat ride. Medora's prison was an island roughly in the middle of the Illiac Bay but at least Sky would get a break. Retrieving Sky, Kaisa turned south for the ferry to bribe someone to take her to the island and yet another prison infiltration.
Kaisa crouched behind a rock several hundred yards from Medora's prison and observed the compound. For a day now Kaisa mapped the patrol routes and got a rough number for guards. As far as she could tell there was about a dozen guards and from the looks of them, they belonged to some mercenary group. Which would make her job slightly easier, it lifted the restrictions on killing anybody if she needed to. In a couple minutes their morning two man roaming patrol would start. One of them would be a woman which would provide Kaisa cover to get in the manor. The place wasn't a fortress and Medora was more under house arrest than a full-on prisoner. All Kaisa needed to do was get close enough to the manor and then slip in a window. Kaisa crawled away to get to the spot she planned to ambush the patrol at.
In a little over an hour, she heard the patrol talking to each other as they approached beneath her. The patrol would pass through a small ravine and that is where Kaisa would strike. Peering over the edge she waited until the male was directly below her and then leapt on to him. As Kaisa crashed into him she plunged her dagger into his neck, killing him almost instantly while Kaisa took him to the ground. The other woman spun around while scrambling for her weapon but didn't get the chance as Kaisa swept her legs out. The woman let out a grunt as she impacted the ground. Kaisa rolled on top of her and wrapped Kaisa's legs around the woman's torso while Kaisa locked a choke hold in. The woman struggled and thrashed but after a couple of seconds her struggles became weaker until they stopped all together. With a sigh, Kaisa went limp and caught her breath. Kaisa quickly stripped the mercenary of her uniform and once it was safely off the merc Kaisa pressed her dagger to her throat.
"Sorry love," Kaisa whispered as she slit the woman's throat.
Kaisa wished she didn't have to kill the woman but she couldn't risk the merc waking up and running back to the manor and warning her compatriots. Kaisa put the mercs uniform on while whispering a silent thank you to Dibella for the woman being almost the same size as Kaisa. The uniform was fairly basic; brown leather pants, chain mail coat, and a steel helmet that covered her entire head and face.
Kaisa made it back to the manor in good time and waited for a gap in the perimeter patrol to sneak up to the manor. Despite Kaisa wearing their uniform, she wouldn't fool the perimeter patrol or the guard at the front door. The roaming patrol wasn't do back for several more hours and Kaisa coming back alone would raise suspicions. Also, with only about a dozen of them they probably knew every member here, so the moment Kaisa opened her mouth they wouldn't recognize her voice and know something was wrong.
Finding an unlocked window, she slowly opened it and quickly looked inside. Finding no one in the room Kaisa slid through the window and into the manor. With Kaisa inside, she had a lot more freedom of movement as they would be a lot less suspicious of her inside the manor.
The manor was fairly nicely furnished with expensive furniture and paintings adorning the walls. The manor wasn't extensive, at least for nobilities' standards, with a dinning hall, a sitting room and half dozen bed chambers. Kaisa passed a couple of mercs in the manor but aside from a nod in her directions they ignored her. Kaisa found what looked like the main chambers due to it being the only door in the manor with a dedicated guard posted outside. Thankfully the door was around the corner of an L shaped hallway which would give her a degree of privacy. The guard saw her as soon as she rounded the corner and the guard raised his hand in greeting.
"Maynoria…is that you?"
Kaisa only nodded, if the guard knew her name than he would definitely know her voice.
"What are you doing back from patrol so soon?"
Kaisa shrugged her shoulders as she continued walking towards him.
"What's wrong, did a wisp steal your voice?" The guard said with a chuckle.
"I would like to think it was more a goddess of beauty," Kaisa purred just before her dagger plunged into his throat.
Kaisa quickly grabbed him and slowly lowered him to the ground so he wouldn't make any noise. Kaisa quickly searched him for keys to the probably locked door. Kaisa found them and with a small smile of triumph she unlocked the door and dragged the guard inside with her. When she turned around, she found a very bewildered Medora looking at her with equal parts confusion and fear.
"Are…are you…here to kill me," Medora asked trying to put as much distance between herself and Kaisa.
"Hardly," Kaisa said taking the helmet off and tossing it in the corner.
Medora gasped at seeing Kaisa's legendary beauty for the first time causing Kaisa to smirk. Kaisa looked around and took in the room and shook her head at the luxury. The room had a four posted bed with silk sheets, a dresser made of the finest wood, a gilded desk, and a vanity next to the fireplace. Even in prison nobility lived in luxury. Granted Kaisa was a noble's daughter and grew up in wealth as well but it still amazed her sometimes. Kaisa's eyes finally settled on Medora and Kaisa had to admit she was fairly pretty.
A blue dress that hugged her every curve contrasted with her pale skin that looked as smooth and soft as silk. Rosy lips, slightly thinned in a worried expression complimented her dark sculpted eyebrows. Medora's light red hair framed her oval face nicely and it was hard for Kaisa to keep her eyes from drifting to Medora's deep cleavage and her full breasts. It was easy to see why the late king started an affair with her.
"Then why are you here?"
"To get you out of here preferably," Kaisa said with a smile as she dug out her lockpicks.
"Does my mystery savior have a name?"
"Kaisa Alierius, at your service my Lady," Kaisa said with a smile and a bow.
"Alierius…I know that name…you wouldn't happen to be related to Julian Alierius?"
"My father," Kaisa said with pride.
"Then I am in good hands, I can assume that the Empire has sent you to investigate my beloved's death?"
"You assume correctly my Lady."
"I'm afraid I will be quite useless to you while this necklace continues to grace my neck," Medora said while fingering the locked shackle around her neck.
The shackle was a metal choker that was enchanted to continuously drain a mage of their mana and preventing them from using magic.
"I'm on it."
Kaisa approached Medora with her lock picks in hand while Medora tilted her head to give Kaisa better access. Unfortunately, this also gave Kaisa an even better view of Medora's breasts making it a little harder to concentrate. Forcing her eyes to stay on the lock and not beautiful, mouth-watering cleavage, Kaisa got to work. As soon as the lock clicked and fell to the floor the air around them shimmered as Medora's power came rushing back to her.
"Thank you," Medora said rubbing her slightly chaffed throat.
"My pleasure."
"What do you say we portal out of here."
"Sounds great, could we go to the eastern end of the island first, my stuff is there?"
"Of course, let's go."
Before Kaisa could say anything, she found herself on the shore of the island, not far from where she hid her gear.
"I'll only be a moment," Kaisa said before jogging off to ditch the merc armor and get her much better armor and gear.
Quickly strapping on her form fitting orcish armor she jogged back to where Medora was waiting for her. Kaisa smirked at the fact that Medora's eyes slowly drank in her heart stopping figure.
"Do you have a place to lay low for a while?" Kaisa said stopping in front of Medora.
"No, do you have a suggestion?"
"I've got a safe house in Daggerfall that you can stay at, but wherever we go we should go now before they notice your absence."
"Agreed, Daggerfall it is then."
Power surged around Medora's hands and in a blink, they found themselves outside of Daggerfall. Thankfully Kaisa's safe house was not far from the main gate. They quickly ducked into the house to minimize the chance of someone recognizing Medora.
"Thank you for the rescue, Miss Alierius, but I want to help. Everyone says my love was killed in battle but he was murdered and I want to make the bastards responsible pay."
"No argument here, I've recently seen something that suggests he was murdered, no proof yet, so I'll take all the help I can get."
"If I could get something of the Kings that he was wearing when he was murdered, I might be able to scry the event and see something that will help us."
"And where might I find such an artifact?" Kaisa said with a smile and a cocked hip causing Medora's eyes to flicker to Kaisa's hips with a gulp.
"The King's mother took all of his possessions with her to her keep in the North, if you could bring me something of his."
"I know the place, I'll go there after my mission in Sentinel is done," Kaisa said with a tired sigh.
"Sentinel, what do you have to do in Sentinel?"
"Kill a Lich," Kaisa said turning for the door to get provisions for herself and Medora.
