This story is a rewrite of the 2008 film, and it's meant to combine elements of both the Jumper film and book.

I've been a fan of Jumper since I first watched the movie adaptation. And while I did enjoy it, I can't argue with the criticisms regarding the fast paced plot, characters lacking in depth, and the feeling of trying to cram an entire franchise of ideas into a single narrative.

Later I discovered the book the movie was based on, and after reading it, I felt that the story was handled a bit better. Sure the pacing can be a bit slow, and Gould over explaining the details can get in the way of what's actually happening. But what the book handled better than the movie was David's personal journey. He has a moral dilemma about what he should do with his powers. But in the end he ultimately chooses to do the right thing.

David in the movie however, has none of that character development, which makes it harder to root for him as the film progresses.

Anyway, just recently I looked into the production of the movie, and found an earlier draft of the script. And from what I've read, it pretty much stuck close to the plot of the book. With some elements that made it into the final film, like David and Millie being old school friends, David discovering his powers after nearly drowning, and the addition of Griffin the other jumper.

Speaking of Griffin, yes I will include him and a bit of the Paladins in this story. Though I will be portraying him as well as the Paladins a bit more differently than the movie. You'll see as I continue to write more.

So all and all, aside from basing this story off of David S. Goyer's original draft of the script, I will be including my own content and characters as well.
