Okay, New story after AGES. This doesn't mean the old one is dropped, just that I will get back to it when I have a better idea of where I wanna take it. This one benefits form having a decent path already set out, and I can just flesh out and twist what I want. Fair warning, I am not even touching never after in this, at least at this point. If it organically fits later I might revisit this stance.
Jaune felt the night could be better. After he convinced Neptune to stop being a dumbass and go make Weiss' night, he then found Pyrrha by herself. Course he had to make good on his word after learning no one asked her, hoping him making a fool of himself would make her feel better he set out to get one of the dresses his sisters sent him.
It was during his jog back to the dorms that things started going wrong.
A bright light flashed in the night sky, nearly blinding him. Once it faded Jaune looked up to see a swirling darkness ripped into the stars. A chill ran through his entire body, and he took a step back as something large emerged from the gaping hole. A purple giant floated in the air wearing a vacuan vest and pants with a large gut it leered down at Vale below it, before pointing a finger down. Jaune watched as a beam shot from the finger unto the city before exploding. Then with a laugh the monster started shooting more beams down, destroying more of Vale.
Jaune jolted as the thing stopped for a moment and seemed to turn and look at him, and he swore he saw it smirk. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the atlesian ships move toward the giant and begin firing at it. He relaxed as it was engulfed in explosions and began to turn toward the docks so he could get a bullhead down to the city. Maybe the damage wasn't as bad as it looked, maybe if he got down there fast enough, he could pull survivors out of the rubble.
Then a line of light cut across his vision, and the largest of the ships exploded. Jaune twisted back toward the city, and his stomach dropped as floating there, unharmed, was the giant. It smacked its shoulder as if dusting itself off, then pointed toward the remaining ships, before unleashing a storm of blasts. Jaune didn't have the strength to look back and see if any ships survived, but as the monster started floating toward Beacon, he pulled out his scroll and called his locker. What a sword and shield could do against that monster, he had no idea.
He heard running behind him and glanced back to see many of the students and staff from the dance running out. his locker landed next to him just before the headmaster reached him. The headmaster looked up at the giant making its way toward them. "What in the world..."
"Professor Ozpin! That thing... it just came out of nowhere and started destroying everything!" Jaune quickly said. He watched the headmaster collect himself and turn to the rest of the crowd.
"Everyone, we are under attack from an unknown being, one who has already caused much harm in the short time it's been here. Call your weapons, and let us stop it here, before it can do more harm!" After his short speech the headmaster rushed to the docks, many students pulled out their scrolls to call their lockers as the staff, already armed, rushed after the headmaster.
Before they got far a beam struck down where they were, and dust kicked up and obscured whatever remained. Jaune stopped in his tracks, unable to believe what he just saw. More beams rained down around him, engulfing the students and staff in the plaza. He looked around, most were gone, but he thankfully saw his team and Ruby's among the remaining. He turned back to the giant as it charged another beam, and ran back to his friends, before stopping in front of them with his shield up. Jaune didn't believe it would do anything, but he couldn't just stand there and accept it, couldn't do anything. When the blast didn't come, he looked up to see the giant stare down at him, before smirking and blasting the cliff underneath them. The ground broke under their feet as the whole of beacon seemed to collapse and the last Jaune saw as he fell was the cct falling above them before darkness engulfed his vision.
"Hey!" A shout rang in Jaune's ears, waking him up. He opened his eyes to the grassy ground beneath him. He shook his head clear and looked up. Before him was a short old man in a yellow robe and hat, with a staff in his hand. Jaune stood and looked around to see outside of the circle of green they stood on was black void.
"Eh-hem!" A voice rang out, and Jaune turned back to the old man. "I am the Fairy King... I'm the entity that unites all of nature's spirits. Listen well, young one. Something Terrible has happened... Men blinded by greed have unleashed the Dark Genie, a being so powerful it can destroy both of our worlds. You saw it... the destruction it brought to your city and academy. Not just them either. In a flash several cities and villages from both our worlds were destroyed. In one night half of our worlds were annihilated."
Jaune stepped back. "Half! No way..."
"Indeed. It is darkness... pure darkness itself. Long ago this so-called "Dark Genie'' almost destroyed my entire world. Its malevolence is that great. The bad thing is that it has the same type of power as the spirits like myself. Unfortunately, I'm not powerful enough to destroy it... Young man... I see that you have a strong will that could withstand the evil power. And also, a clear, kind heart. You might be able to fight against the darkness it generates. I decided to stake our fate on you. Let me bless you with power."
"Me!?" Jaune points to himself. "There must be some mistake, my friend Ruby would be a much better choice."
"There is no mistake young man. Though take heart, you will not be alone. Another will take up this power with you, even now I am speaking with her." The Fairy King swung his staff forward and energy left it, forming on the back of Jaune's right hand. The energy faded and left there was a round blue crystal attached to his glove. "There, surprised? That's called an "Altamillia", a stone of magical power."
Jaune stared at the crystal in wonder for several moments. Until the Fairy King cleared his throat. "Oh, don't look that way, boy. I'll explain now. It might get too bright for a moment."
The Fairy King spread his arms, and then everything faded to white. When the bright light lessened, They were in an empty valley, and when Jaune looked around he saw Ruby next to him, with a necklace he never saw before that ended in a red crystal. With a shout that caused her to jump Jaune ran over and gave her a hug. After a moment they broke apart and he turned to the Fairy King. "Where are we?"
"And where are our friends!" Ruby added.
"This is Norune Village, one of the many that faced destruction at the hands of the Dark Genie. I brought you here when I rescued you and your friends from the Genie's destruction. Unfortunately, I was only able to secure you two thanks to the tremendous power it brought forth. Your friends, and those I saved from the destruction, are safe inside spheres called Alta that I made. Unfortunately, they were scattered by the genie's power. I managed to keep the spheres nearby at least. For example, this village's spheres are all in the Divine Beast Cave, while the spheres from your city are all in the Emerald Forest."
"That means everyone is okay!" Ruby cheered as Jaune relaxed. His team was alive.
"Yes, and the Genie likely thinks everything destroyed. Though you both must restore our worlds before it realizes what happened. Absorb that which I sealed in the Atla into the Altamillia you both possess and bring them back. Then you will be able to restore our worlds to their original forms. You may even be able to make them better than before."
Jaune shook his head while Ruby stared at the crystal around her neck.
"Hmm, you don't seem to understand what I'm saying, oh well. I'll give you another lesson when you acquire some Atla. So long" The Fairy king then dispersed into light.
"Wait!" Jaune ran forward. "But... where are we supposed to go?"
Suddenly a voice echoed around them. "Jaune, Ruby... Can you hear them? You should be able to hear them. Voices of the wind... Voices of the trees... Voices of the animals... And voices of the earth... They are all calling for your help. Jaune, Ruby... You both will probably meet and say goodbye to many people. In talking with these people, you may receive clues to defeating the darkness. Look for them. Now Jaune, Ruby... Your adventure will begin! First, go to the village mayor's house. He'll show you where to go next."
Once the voice fades Jaune and Ruby looked to each other, before turning to the lone building in the valley. "Think that's what he was talking about?"
Ruby tilts her head. "It must be, the only other place would be those doors in the cliffside, and I bet that leads to the cave he brought up earlier."
Jaune nods his head, and they start walking towards the lone house at the opposite side of the small valley. It was during this that Jaune noticed he didn't have his sword, and Ruby was without Crescent Rose. Unsure of what they could do about this they continued to the mayor's house hoping he could help. Once they got up to the house they stood in front of the door, both not sure if they should just knock or not. Eventually Jaune knocked on the door. After a few moments the door opened to reveal an older man in a white shirt and red vest, light brown baggy pants, and a yellow headcap with a pipe in his mouth.
"Who... How...Where did you both come from?" The old man asked.
"Um..." Ruby began, before she and Jaune told him all they knew, after all the Fairy King wouldn't tell them to talk to him if he was untrustworthy. After they all sit, and he gets them drinks as they tell their tale. Once they finish the Mayor gets up and turns away from them.
"I confess, this is a lot to take in..." He begins. "But if anyone would know how to help you all, and where to go next, it would be the village guardian, Dran. Dran will be able to help you, for sure. Go to the Divine Beast Cave and tell Dran what happened. The Divine Beast Cave is outside to the right-hand side. You can't miss it. I may be imagining things, but I sense something has changed about the cave. Be careful."
The Mayor walks over to a desk and opens it up, before walking back to Jaune and handing him a key. "This is the Cave Key." He then goes into a nearby closet and pulls out a small satchel and a dagger. "Here are some supplies and a weapon, sorry I only have the one."
Jaune takes the dagger while Ruby takes the satchel. "Actually... would you happen to have a scythe?"
"Like for farming? I believe I do; I suppose it would be better than nothing." He goes back into the closet and comes out with an old farming scythe, before handing it to Ruby. "Now don't get carried away. If you both get in trouble in there, come back here. I'll get you more supplies. Good luck."
"Thank you, mister Mayor, sir" Ruby bows.
"None of that sir business little miss. You can just call me Vasco, or Mayor Vasco, or just Mayor as well. That last one is what the villagers preferred..."
"We'll get them back Mayor Vasco, I promise" Jaune stated before him, and Ruby nodded to each other and headed out the door. They make their way back across the valley again, before they find themselves in front of a pair of large double doors made of stone. Jaune walks up and inserts the key, before the doors open by themselves.
Jaune and Ruby share one last look before they step into the torch lit cave.
And that's a wrap. I wanna say this chapter came out easier than the Onimusha crossover chapters, but the Fairy king was a good chunk of it, and alot of that was taken from the game itself, with edits as needed.
I totally just gave the mayor a name as well, taken from a list of famous sailors, cause he used to sail in his younger days.
There are two altamillia cause I'm blending some Dark Cloud 2 into this, how much will be apparent later, cookies for any who can guess some of how.
And of course shipping: Not sure how that is going to go, I haven't thought of it yet, but based on either what happens naturally or what comes to mind later there will definitly be ships.
