Notice: I don't own the Kingdom Hearts Franchise. I'd love to, of course, but alas...no dice. The OC here and the situations she's in, are all my own. The OC, is owned by me.

Prologue: A Shadow Descends on a Nice Dinner

***In Ancient Times, the People Believed that all Light came from an Unseen Land, Known as Kingdom Hearts. Seeking that Land, those who sought the Great Light searched for its counterpart – the [Chi] Blade. This blade was the key to opening the door to Kingdom Hearts. However, they did not know, they could never find it, so instead fashioned Keyblades, which were modelled after the original.

These wondrous tools and weapons, could open almost any door and any lock...***

A mother was busily preparing a delicious meal for her and her boy. She was an expert at cooking a range of meals for her and her son, in a surprisingly short span of time.

A whistling from one of the pots tells the mother, her meal can now simmer. She turns off the oven dials, and let's the food cool.

"There, looks like the meal's all done. In record time too!" She checked her watch, noting down about an hour had passed since she started preparing dinner.

She put her dirty cooking utensils (pots, pans, cooking spoons etc.) into the spare sink, sprayed some detergent, and then filled it up with hot water to about halfway, making sure the detergent made a frothy lather. 'Good for them to soak for a bit. Now to clean up and set the table for me and Sora.'

She went to the bathroom and washed her hands in the basin, taking a quick look at herself in the mirror. 'Weird how I haven't really changed that much. Was actually expecting grey hair by now...'

The mother had dark blonde hair, mostly straight, with spiky fringes, and tips that reached her shoulders. Her eyes were a subtle purple – an unusual colour anywhere, with slightly tan skin. She wore a little make-up, that highlighted her features, and wore two 'key' shaped earrings, and a heart shaped necklace – gold and silver plating.

She walked back over to the kitchen table. The mother laid out some food mats for her and her boy to use. Then she went over to one of the kitchen cupboards and pulled out an array of knives, forks and spoons, thongs – to be used for eating and serving the food. Placing the utensils on a clear kitchen bench, then perused the cupboard again, to grab out a few dish bowls, to pour the larger food items into. After this, she laid out the knives and forks on the table. One knife, one fork and one spoon for her and Sora. She used a larger spoon to serve out the food into some of the bowls. She used thongs to place some of the 'trickier' foods into bowls as well.

She grabbed two large plates and two clear glass cups to eat and drink from. The mother ordered the plates on the food mats, with the knives and forks already arranged neatly. Then she dished out an initial serving of their dinner into each of their plates.

Sora was a growing boy so he had larger servings than his mother. Afterwards, she placed the rest of the bowls of food in the centre of the table, ranging from largest to smallest bowl, outward from the centre, horizontally.

"Soooraaa! Dinner's Ready!" She was expecting his usual 'Okay Mom, I'm coming down!' instantly, but was surprisingly left hanging. 'Hmm, what's that boy doing? Is he sleeping or something?' She called out again "Sora!" Again no reply. 'That boy better not have gone off somewhere without my notice.' The mother was a little annoyed at her son, for not answering her. So she made her way up to his room, which was up a flight of stairs to the left of the kitchen. Each of her steps made distinctive clanks on the wooden steps, but something didn't feel right to her, 'what is this feeling?'

She reached Sora's bedroom door, which was left slightly ajar. She called again "Sora?" She opened the door to see it empty of her boy and his window open. Normally this would make her VERY angry, but what caught her eye was the distinctive storm brewing outside said window. She took a closer look and a sense of dread slowly set in. 'That storm...'

Suddenly an eery shadow enveloped her home, acting quickly she rushed down to the ground floor just in time to see 'A Heartless!' A small shadowy creature emerged from a dark imprint on the floor, eyes glowing, in contrast to its inky black body. The mother couldn't believe her eyes, 'How is a heartless here...of all places?' She had no time to wonder, before the shadow lunged right at her! On instinct she dodged the initial strike then summoned a blade from thin air, and sliced at the shadow monster.

Key...blade

Another...

...Door...

Feeling more shadows surrounding her, she dashed outside, throwing open the entrance door. What greeted her was almost nightmarish to behold.

Darkness had covered the sleepy Destiny Islands. Shadows moved, eyes glowing, ready to attack anyone in their way. A small shadow tried to surprise her from behind, but a spin slice manoeuvre stopped the inky monster, where it dissipated into nothingness. Not losing a beat she rushed at the small shadows that barred the way to her neighbours house, 'Gotta get to Riku's house!' Slicing through the mob, swinging her bladed weapon left and right, the mother was anxious to arrive at her destination in time.

With the last of the shadowy creatures dispelled, she had a clear view of the front door. Before she could open the door herself, she heard a scream to her right, 'th-that's!' She dashed towards the direction of the scream, and a second later she could see her friends cowering by a wall, cornered by a few humanoid-like shadows. A man was standing defiant with a pipe aimed at the mob, while a woman was embracing the man was sobbing. Glowing for just an instant, she vanished and reappeared in front of the monsters, having sliced through all of them to save her friends. The shadows dissipated – the air feeling lighter all of a sudden.

"Hey! You two alright? Where's Riku?"

The man addressed the blade wielding woman. "Th-thank g-goodness C-Cecelia. You saved us!"

The frightened woman spoke up, still jittery from the experience. "C-Ce..ce? I-is that y-you? Y-you saved us f-from t-th-those th-things!"

"No problem, now where's your son?"

The man and woman looked at each other, eyes wide, forgetting in their fear that their headstrong boy was missing!

"By the looks of it you don't know. Normally he'd be with his group of friends, which includes my son and little Kairi, but...'was he attracted to this storm? If so does that mean...!?'

Shaking herself from her thoughts, Cecelia spoke clearly to her neighbours. "Both of you come with me. It will be far safer that way, and I can keep an eye on you. Also you can help me with calling out to others along the way." Cecelia looked towards the hilly terrain of the main island, noting her next objective 'Now I need to find Kairi and her family.'
