Prologue

… … …

… … …

… Where… am I…?

'This is where your journey begins… Chosen hero of light… what shape takes place… in your heart…?'

My… heart…

'Gatherer of light… Banisher of darkness… What is your name…?'

… … …

My name…

It's…

… … ...

'Another quiet day in Daybreak Town,' he thought.

A silver-haired young man stared at the clouds, his green eyes observing the pink, purple, and indigo colors painting the sky in an everlasting break of dawn.

It's been five days since he arrived in this world and became a Keyblade Wielder amongst the growing population across the five unions.

To be perfectly frank, he had no clue how he ended up in this place. He remembered a voice calling his name, then all of a sudden, he got dropped into the middle of a battle against a giant monster. Thankfully he wasn't alone, but thinking back on it, there wasn't much for him to go on.

All he knows is that he needs to gather light in the form of Lux and defeat the Heartless. But what was the point? For what purpose is gathering Lux meant for? There were so many questions he had about everything. For now, he figured, he would focus on the missions assigned to him.

Now Luan was standing here in the middle of Fountain Square.

The clock tower in the middle of the town chimed ten times.

"Guess it's already 10 o'clock now. I wonder where to start. Maybe, I should ask Chirithy for help."

Chirithy. A strange cat-like creature had appeared before him the first day he arrived here. The Foreteller, Gula of Leopardus, had told him that Chirithy would be his guide and companion in his travels.

"Hmm… Well, I still can't exactly rely on Chirithy for everything… but then again…" he muttered. "Well, nothing for it but to..."

When his gaze turned towards the roofs, what he saw had him baffled.

A girl about his age jumped off one of the buildings, with the creatures not far behind her. Her long dark-brown hair, held up by a ponytail, swung around in the air. As she descended to the ground, her bright green eyes met his.

Before he could react, she pointed a weapon, a Keyblade, to the ground and cast a small tornado, breaking her fall. She jumped in front of him and her Keyblade pointed at the creatures chasing her.

"Hey, are you new here?!" she asked.

"U-uh, yeah. I just came here a few days ago," he explained.

The creatures were slowly approaching them.

"Go find someplace safe then! I'll take care of these Heartless!"

"Huh?! Wait, hold on-"

Before he could say anything more, she rushed towards a nearby Heartless, thrusting her Keyblade directly into its chest.

'Woah, she's really quick on her feet.'

She shot a ball of light at another, then dodged an attack from the side. The girl looked around for any more incoming attacks and did a double-take when she realized he was still standing there.

"Lookout! Behind you!"

One of the Heartless snuck up behind and jumped into the air, its claws ready to strike.

On reflex, he summoned his Keyblade and slashed it, before it hit him.

He turned around, smiling smugly.

"Hey, I may be the new guy, but I wasn't exactly born yesterday. Let me help out!"

She opened her mouth to say something but instead gave him a grateful nod.

As more of them appeared, that was when he noticed that her breathing was a little ragged.

'Has she been trying to fight them off for a while? Why would so many Heartless attack one girl? Ah, whatever. I can worry about that later.'

The Heartless were slowly closing in on them.

"Hey, I have an idea but I'm gonna need your help."

"Yeah, sure, what do you need?"

"Try your best to round as many of them all together. I'll use some magic to take them all out at once."

"Got it!

He dashed toward them, using Fire to scare them into a corner, while the girl concentrated the magic on her Keyblade.

"Okay, I'm ready! Get back!"

He quickly rolled away, as she shot a pillar of light on the Heartless, finally wiping out every one of them.

"Woah…! You're pretty strong… Great job th-"

The girl's Keyblade vanished, as she fell to her knees, panting.

"Hey! You okay?!"

"Yeah… I'm fine… I'm just a little tired, that's all…" she said in between gasps. "Oh, right I almost forgot. Thank you, um…"

"Luan. My name's Luan."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Aelia."

Luan took her hand in a friendly handshake before helping her back to her feet.

"So what was with all those Heartless? Did you do something to anger them?"

"I don't think so. This usually happens a lot. I go out on a mission and suddenly, boom! A whole squad of Heartless. It's been this way for about three months since I first arrived here."

"Three months?!"

"Um… yeah…" she shrank back a little at his response.

"Geez, have you been dealing with this all on your own?"

"Well, not entirely. I've tried joining a few parties, but it never lasts very long. I'm not exactly well-liked by others. After a few days, they usually kick me out. The longest I've been in a party was about five days."

"Wow… it doesn't sound fair for them to treat you that way. Hey wait a second, how did you know I was a new Keyblade Wielder?" Luan asked.

"When our eyes met earlier," Aelia replied, pointing to her own. "I just had this feeling when I saw you. I wasn't sure exactly how long you've been here, but you have this look of inexperienced potential."

Luan was stunned. She was able to guess all that just from a single glance? And all while from jumping off a building too? Seeing the way she fought earlier, it was clear that she was used to tough battles and had incredible skill. Meanwhile, he was still a newcomer still adjusting to this new way of life.

This gave him an idea.

"Well in that case, why don't you and I work together and help each other out? You can show me the ropes, and I can help give you some backup in future fights. I'm still new here so any kind of experience will help me a lot."

Her eyes seemed to light up at his proposal.

"Really?! Do you mean it?! You don't mind teaming up with me?!" Aelia said with excitement.

"Yeah, besides it might work out well for us. I'm still new and you seem pretty capable. It'll help me learn more about being a Keyblade wielder and you won't have to fight so many Heartless all on your own anymore."

Aelia smiled, nearly jumping in excitement."Yes! I promise to do my best to help you! Thank you so much!"

Luan let out a small chuckle and reached out his hand.

"Well partner, let's do our best to take down some Heartless!"

"Sure thing, partner!"

She took his hand in mutual agreement.

This is the story of how Luan and Aelia met. Little did they know, this was the beginning of a strong bond that would form over the next few years. And a grand adventure that will turn the tides of their fates awaits them.

For the longest time, I wanted to write a story based on KHUX and the possibilities I could make by having two protagonists supporting each other and having their own adventures. I've also really liked the idea of themes with the sun and moon, hence their names. Here are some descriptions of both of them .w.

Luan

Name meaning: Moon

Birthday: 1/25

MBTI type: ENFP

Hair color: Silver/white

Hairstyle: Feathered

Eye color: Green

Outfit: Khaki Overalls

Accessory(s): Hakama Headband

Profile: A new member of the Leopardus Union, Luan quickly became accustomed to the Keyblade and combat. One unique trait about him is that he's ambidextrous, able to use a Keyblade proficiently with either hand. While being a quick learner and a natural in combat, he still has a long way to go to reach Aelia's level. Loyal, caring, and always willing to learn, he does his best to keep Aelia out of trouble. His eagerness, however, can be reckless at times.

Aelia

Name meaning: Sun

Birthday: 4/17

MBTI type: INFJ

Hair color: Brown

Hairstyle: Ponytail

Eye color: Green

Outfit: Victorian Autumn

Accessory(s): Furisode Headpiece, Festive Gold Ribbon

Profile: A three-month member of the Vulpes Union; Aelia had to rapidly adapt to fighting on her own but in return gained experience in using speed and magic. Despite her lonely disposition, she's a friendly, compassionate, and cheerful young girl who is always willing to help those around her. Though very kind and open-minded, she has a bad habit of taking on too many burdens. There are still a few mysteries surrounding her.
