Dead and Forgotten

Never forget day when the old world collapsed,

Never forget what we saw on our screens.

Dead returning to life, attacking the living,

Listening to snarls and the screams.

...

Never forget how we processed this sight,

This madness that made zero sense.

Satan, some said, was sending his dead,

For sins Man would pay recompense.

...

Never forget all this new horror descended,

Witness as people ripped open.

Never forget how at end of old world,

In less than a day Man was left broken.

...

Never forget sight of highways clogged,

Of 'copters above in the sky.

Never forget the fleeing, the running,

As in streets by thousands we died.

...

Never forget the shots and the fires,

How these monsters somehow were still standing.

Never forget the delays and disasters,

While 'experts' on news were grandstanding.

...

The world once divided, mankind was at odds,

Swore to flag of red, white, and blue.

In the world that emerged, one was for all,

Just people all, just me and you.

...

Never forget, no matter the hurt,

No matter your grief and your dread.

Never forget day when a colder sun rose,

On that day, dawn of the dead.
