CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN
There was a time jump between the last chapter and this one, approximately 3 weeks for those that are concerned about what's happened.
I played with ages here, the girls are 11/12.
The impending arrival of Jimmy O'Phalen had all the Sons anxious. Chibs had taken off on his bike to visit some of the further away charters while the Irishman was in town and the day of his arrival had every hand at the Clubhouse working under Gemma's orders to make sure it all met the imagined expectations.
Shaking her head as Clay, Piney, Jax, Opie, Happy and Tig head off to meet Jimmy she leans against the wall "I hope he doesn't plan on staying long."
Laughing as she sits down Donna shrugs "I hope so too. I'm exhausted." Resting her hand on the very slight swell of her now 4 month along stomach she sighs "This one is taking it out of me."
Cam bounces to our sides, Al trailing behind her with Juice watching "What are we doing now?"
Donna shakes her head "You're going to give me some of your energy. Where do you get it all?"
Cam laughs and winks at us "He just left."
"Eww!" I spit out, sitting down and yawning "If you're gonna share like that then you get all the reasons that I've been so tired the last 10 days."
Donna gags "No! We know why."
Gemma pats my shoulder "We know you're getting ready for whatever happens at the sentencing. I'm impressed that Lohan managed to get it put off till after Jimmy arrived."
I sigh and lean into her side, drawing warmth from the arm still around my shoulders and the solidness that is Gemma's unconditional love. "It wasn't without downsides, but because he agreed to everything else for some reason they let the delay slide."
Gemma directs Cam to the bar and the box of bottles sitting on the long stretch of wood "You could put those away and then we're done."
Cam snaps off a salute and about faces, Al sitting down beside me and lifting her feet to my knees "I need a nap."
I nod, shuffling in my seat "I know how you feel. How long have we got till they get back?"
Gemma glances down at the watch on her wrist "About four hours, it's 2 hours each way to the drop zone."
The three of us head towards or rooms as Gemma sits down in front of the plans she'd been discussing with Elliot. I'm still surprised that the pull I have being silent partner of his businesses had Jenny at TM within a few hours of the original discussion regarding Gemma and her grand plans of remodelling the clubhouse.
Gemma leans her dark head over the mock up and frowns "If we moved that wall to there we could fit another dorm in there, but that cuts into the 'gym'."
Leaving her to her silent, and not so silent, commentary I head towards the bar to help Cam unpack the last of the boxes of booze.
Five hours later the door swings open again and Clay steps through the door, Piney not far behind him, then two men in suits that I don't know, followed by Happy and Jax then a single dark skinned woman followed by two girls with Opie and Tig trailing them. Gemma gets to her feet, brushes a hand down her front and walks to Clays side, smiling brightly as she's introduced to Jimmy and his right hand man, a slimy looking guy named Donny who I glance at over my shoulder before turning back to Donna.
The women aren't even spared a second glance as Clay squeezes Gemma's hand and leads the two towards the Chapel. Al waits till the door is closed behind them and pulls a face "I feel like I need a shower."
Cam nods, curling her hands around the mug in front of her "I know how you feel."
Donna and I exchange a confused looking glance which Al notices and shakes her head "You didn't see it cause your backs were towards them, but the taller guy did that whole 'undress with the eyes' thing that really puts me off." Al shudders once before forcibly shaking her head "Anyway, we were talking about shopping for baby stuff."
Donna shakes her head already speaking "Not going shopping for anything till after the baby shower. I told Gem it had to be next year in the new house."
I pout and prop my head on my hand "But D. If you wait till after then you'll be too far along to be comfortable shopping."
Gemma leans down between us to pick up her cigarettes "She's right you know sweetheart. By the time we have the baby shower you'll be at least 8 months along, and if you remember with the twins…"
Donna groans and drops her forehead on the table "I couldn't walk more than 5 steps comfortably when I was 6 months with the twins, let alone further along."
Gemma grins "Exactly. But I would suggest waiting till after O'Phalen and his horny henchman have left." The smile fades from her face as she grimaces "Now I have to go play hostess to Chibs' wife and daughter."
Twisting in my seat it's easy to tell which of the children would be Chibs' daughter. The older woman with them is easily 5 years older than Gemma, her hair already silvering at the temples, but the combination of her skin tone and Chibs' has left their daughter with coffee coloured skin paired with dark hair in tight ringlets that fall past her narrow shoulders.
"But Mum why did I have to come?" Her voice suddenly sounds through the quite room. "I was happy at home."
Gemma easily steps into the silence, smiling down at the girl "You must be Kerianne? But who's this?"
Kerianne turns halfway to the side, reaching out and grabbing the hand of the pale girl behind her "This is Trinity, she's my best friend. Mum said because I had to spend my 12th birthday here that she could come with us."
The paler of the two girls blinks through her sunset red hair and snickers at Kerianne "Come on Keri, I think Mum was happy to get rid of me."
The pair of girls dissolve into giggles, somewhere it morphs into a conversation that flows so fast between them that Gemma shakes her head as she looks up at Chibs' wife "I only had one of them, how do you plan on keeping up with two?"
"Oh I'm sure I'll manage." Fiona replies, her name finally flying out of the depths of my brain where it had been hiding. "Jimmy never said you had a daughter?"
Gemma laughs and waves her arm casually towards the table that Al, Cam, Donna and I are still occupying. "One of those hellions pretty much moved into my house at the age of 12 and refused to leave. Another one was the best friend of said invader. The other two came later but they're all my daughters now."
"Maureen isn't the best mother unfortunately, poor Trinny misses out on a lot, her father hasn't been around since before she was born. Mo refuses to say who he is, just that she loved him and he left." Fiona shakes her head in dismissal.
I can almost hear Gemma biting her tongue about fathers and their daughters, it had been especially difficult for her to watch Chibs leave, knowing his daughter would be arriving a few hours later. Only the promise from Gemma that she'd take lots of photos had the frown vanishing from her face and a smile stretching across Chibs' scarred cheeks.
A sound like a bird squawking emerges from the middle of our table causing both Cam and Al to jump slightly in surprise. Giggling at them both I grab the baby monitor and head down the hall "Can someone heat up a bottle please?"
Not waiting for the affirmative response I know will be coming I push open the door to mine and Jax's room, seeing Abel looking up at the ceiling, the squishy book we'd given him under one foot and his bear clutched in his hands The second he sees me he turns onto his chubby little knees and crawls to the edge of the bar, grabbing hold of it to pull himself partially upright.
"Hey baby boy, Grandma will be so happy to see you up." Lifting him out of his cot I wrinkle my nose and turn straight to the bathroom "First, lets get you changed."
After changing Abel's nappy and his clothes I walk back through the doors, Donna handing me the heated bottle as Gemma smiles brightly at her grandson.
Abel's appearance in the main room of the clubhouse seems to break the ice between the two women, Jax's warning about Fiona fades into the back of my mind when she coos at Abel and starts tickling his feet. The two girls nearby seem to be watching with huge amounts of interest and my drifting eyes pass over them before freezing where I'm looking at the doorframe before slowly backtracking. Expecting some part of Chib's face to be showing from Keri's doesn't shock me, what does is the pair of startlingly familiar eyes that look at me from the pale face of Kerianne's best friend.
