And this woman was singin' my song

Kagome watched as a man with several horses made their way closer. "Is he sending her away just because I said so?" She didnt really think he would. "He isn't one for making move based on emotions,"

"Fear not; he already had his mind made up about that one,"

"So, who is this man?" Kagome asked as the male demon drew closer.

"Her brother comes to fetch her and seek answers," His mother spoke as the men stopped a few feet from them. He bow slightly and in a hurry.

"I see my words travel fast," His mother spoke,

The man's sister came out, head hell high. She reached her brother and whispered something that made Sesshomaru's mother smile. Kagome started to feel uneasy.

His eyes moved to her. This man was not as tall as Sesshomaru, and he had dark eyes and careless dark hair that was in a messy low bun, and yet, like most, he was handsome.

"So my sister's time here come to an end due to her dislike; I hard find that fair,"

His mother laughed. "Fair," She laughed more and then stopped. "My son took her judgment under advisement but made his own decision,"

The demoness ran her hand through her hair and turned to look at Kagome. "Humans have caused this clan to fall, and yet he keeps her; mark my words, moon mother, one by one, he will dismiss them, and you will be left with her, and your blood will be watered down further,"

"Be gone," His mother stated darkly.

They did not bow before leaving. His mother stuck her nose up and left before she did something bad.

Her spot was replaced by her son, and Kagome looked up.

"This won't start a war, will it?"

"Possibly,"

Kagome sighed,

"Tell me,"

"I feel bad,"

"Do not; she was not worthy,"

She sighed again,

"Miko,"

"Sesshomaru,"

They both looked around.

"We need to get away from here,"

He raised an elegant eyebrow,

"I miss music, and I could use a drink and normalcy,"

"Very well,"

"Wait, really,"

"Do not tell this one's mother,"

"What about the others,"

"We will leave late and return early,"

She nodded and thought to go about the rest of the day, but she found it very difficult. She just wanted to go.

Sesshomaru to found himself waiting for the darkness, watching as the hours past buy. His mind was far away from the women dangled infont of him.

He waited longer than he wanted at first, and then he fetched her.

Kagome felt like a schoolgirl sneaking out on a school night. It was thrilling.

"What if we get caught,"

"By whom, woman?"

"Your mother,"

"We are the King and Queen Miko; it doesn't matter,"

She smiled at the stress of her given name on his lips.

His mother watched the two flee into the dark. "All just to call each other by their names, as if they needed to sneak away to do so,"

She shook her head.

There was only one place he would take her. The only place he would ever be caught dead in. It was a demon bar of course, settled somewhere hidden.

They settled into a dark spot and watched as a beautiful demoness sang in words Kagome did not know.

"You seem vested, Miko, even though you do not know what she is singing,"

Her eyes met his. "Yes, I am Sesshomaru; why is she singing about war and death," It would be fitting for the time. Poetic even.

"No Kagome,"

The darkness could not hide the blush on her face as he said her name. Kagome looked away, and deep down, somehow she knew. Even though she didn't know the words, she could feel it. The woman was singing about romance.

"Is it tragic?" Kagome asked,

Sesshomaru brushed Kagome's hair away from her face when he smelt tears. She looked back at him, his hand still in her hair. "Indeed,"

Kagome leaned back, and like it was just a natural thing for him, he moved his arm around her so that she settled against him.

"So she is singing my song,"

"Perhaps mine as well," Suddenly, he didn't want to return to his responsibility, and for a split moment, he wondered if they could just run away.

What did it matter anyway?

He was the King and she was the Queen after all.
