"No Ruby. You're doing the sheets wrong!" Weiss yelled out.
Team RWBY were doing renovations in their room, allowing for better space.
Yang was in charge of the heavy lifting, Blake was to gather the books and dust them off. Weiss and Ruby would clean the sheets and mats. But Ruby wasn't doing it to Weiss's satisfaction.
"I'm trying, Weiss, but it's already clean enough" Ruby complained, her hair ruffled while on the top bunk.
" I'm not trying to be pushy, but we have to clean up every now and then." Weiss replied with an authoritative tone.
Ruby sighed.
Yang fell back onto her bed and huffed, exhausted. "Why bother, it's only us who uses this room." Her eyes roamed across the ceiling, bored.
Blake sat next to Yang's tired form. "So, when is the battle against you and Yin happening?" She asked curiously.
Yang sat back up, resting her head on her palm. "Some time this week, he said he would make the arrangements." She remembered when she told her friends, their shock was not surprising. She didn't think it would come to this either, but she would always take the opportunity to never back down from a fight.
It's not like he's special or anything, just some random hunter who got under my skin. Yang thought.
"Well I am excited for it, and to see what he did to defeat Sky. I know you will do us proud, Yang!" Ruby said, her thrilled voice made Yang smile, she knew she could always trust her team.
Yang and her friends walked through the cafeteria doors, the chatter and conversations from other teams were extremely loud.
They quieted down when they entered, which made Yang, Ruby, Blake and Weiss stop and looked around.
"What are they looking at? Do I have something on my clothes?!" Weiss whispered frantically, searching her dress for any marks.
Blake touched Weiss's shoulder. Weiss stopped. "Your fine Weiss, they are not looking at us."
Ruby slowly moved towards their table, she kept her hands to her chest like a frightened squirrel. "Who are they looking at then?" She whispered back.
Blake looked towards Yang, a kind of humorous look in her eyes.
Yang saw and gaped at her. "What? Me?" Yang huffed in disbelief.
"Yes, you. They heard about the fight that you and Yin are going to have." She said with a smile.
"Wow." Ruby said. "I never knew news could travel this fast. I only told Nora."
Weiss scoffed. "That'll do it."
When they reached their table, Yang got on-top of the wooden structure and placed her hands on her hips. "Hey! Stop staring like a bunch of desperate hungry cats. I am going to defeat him and be the victorious winner! So you all better not mess with me!" The room slowly turned to conversations again, everyone avoided eye contact with her.
Yang got down and sat at her seat with a cocky smirk.
"Well done Yang, that sent goose bumps all across my skin." Jaune said at his team's table, rubbing his arms.
Yang smiled.
There was a sudden loud clatter to the far right of the room, where Sun's team was seated. Cardin was standing in front with his sword drawn, Russel and Dove flanking either side of him.
He had kicked over one of the wooden chairs at SSYN's table. Right where Yin was.
He didn't budge or look up at Cardin's furious form. He casually kept eating, but his friends body language showed they were ready for a fight.
Cardin's jaw twitched, showing his displeasure of being ignored. "Hey!" He banged his fist on the table in front of Yin. "I'm talking to you!"
Sun and Scarlet stood, turning towards their opponent. Neptune hesitantly rose as well.
By this point all of the students turned in their seats to witness the scene. Yang thought of walking towards them and helping, but chose better to see what Yin's reaction would be.
Yin placed his fork down and slowly lifted his head to look Cardin in the eyes. Cardin froze, and placed his fist off the table and back to his side. He took a step back but still kept a murderess expression on.
Yin's eyes betrayed one who could easily see a person's fears. His golden eyes flickered, darkening to a haze. "What do you want to know, Cardin" He spoke with a calm, bored voice. Like a teacher talked to a child who knows nothing.
Cardin swallowed, clearly put of guard by Yin's peircing eyes. "W-what did you do to Sky. He can barely walk and he looks terrible."
Yin's head tilted to the side, and thought for a minute. "Nothing is wrong with him, he must be tired from our fight." He acted like this was not a serious conversation, but a bother.
Cardin was about to speak again, but decided against it. He chose it better to keep quiet and pretend he never asked. Him and his friends left, quickly fleeing the cafeteria.
The room stayed quiet, all eyes on Yin. He ignored them all, but drifted his sight toward Yang.
She looked back at him, confused at what his gaze meant.
He gave her a nod, stood up and addressed his friends. " I'll part ways now. I will be back for our training session later."
Sun grinned and gave him a punch to the shoulder. "Way to go man. Nice way to handle those jerks."
Yin nodded, before heading straight towards RWBY's table.
Ruby made a quick, quiet squeal. Turning back to look at her friends. "He's coming. What do we do!" She looked frantically.
"Just calm down, he's only here for Yang." Blake said. Giving Yang a look of understanding.
Yang looked down at her plate, she didn't glance up at Yin when he approached.
He placed a hand on the table right in front of her. He leaned down. "Our fight will be this afternoon at 5:00pm. Got that?" He looked at her, and she thought she saw a hint of a challenge.
Yang clenched her jaw and nodded. "Yeah, I got it." He wasn't going to win. She was going to find out everything.
She thought he smirked, but he quickly rose again and left before she could look again.
Her friends just stared at her.
Weiss whistled softly, she leant her head on her hand. "Woah."
Yang agreed.
Click.
Yang secured her boots, and placed the bullets in her gauntlets. In the faint distance she heard the unmistakable sound of cheers from the crowd.
It was time for her and Yin's battle.
Yang walked through the dark tunnel connected to the arena. She saw the entrance up ahead, the light illuminated her shadow to dance in different directions across the walls.
Yang had done this many of times, to fight and not stop until she won.
That was her plan, she would keep her promise to Yin, so he better keep his.
She walked into the light of the fighting arena, the speakers blared with the professor's voice. "Our first contestant. Yang Xiao Long!"
Yang heard her friends loud voices, and smiled when Ruby yelled. "Kick his butt Yang!!"
Determined as ever, Yang stood on her side of the fighting area. She waited for her opponent.
"And our other contestant is..." The professor took a deep breath, which enhanced the dramatic feel. " Yin Cronan!"
Some clapped, some girls squealed, but others stayed quiet or whispered to their friends. His presence in the Academy had changed some of the students. They were either scared of him, hated him, or admired his strength and mysterious personality.
Through the other side of the arena, Yin exited from his tunnel. He dropped his black duster to reveal a dark blue, sleeveless shirt that hugged his figure, with combat pants and boots. No weapon.
Yang brows formed together, astonished to think he was going to fight her with no weapon. She spread out her legs and brought her gauntlets to the ready. Yin stopped a few feet away from her, but did not go into a fight stance. This angered Yang, she thought he was messing with her.
Yin looked at her, showing no emotion, but Yang saw the look in his eyes. No mercy, no pity.
Yang prepared herself, she didn't take her eyes away from his.
"Ready! set! Go!!" With the final call from the professor. Yang lunged forward.
Aiming to win.
