The kids were all waiting patiently as their parentals each stood and talked about their jobs, their lives and their views on things. Answered questions and such. Ianto and Jack both knew who the Bully parents were now, clocking each fat fuck as he stood and boasted about being 'security' and 'necessary' for the 'peace keeping' around here. Riiiiiight.
Finally the place fell silent and the teacher smiled at David, who rose, Mica following him to the front.
'My Da is an arsehole" David started to speak without fanfare and Ianto made a sound of alarm as Jack snorted with mirth. David continued "But I always had me Gee. Gee is my mumma's Taddy and he is a better man than any other I have ever known!"
"GeeTee, come up" Mica called out and Ianto started to walk the rows towards the front, his black ankle long coat swishing. As he did so, Jack followed his own grayish blue Great Coat swishing along as well. Ianto's coat was of a different time period, showing that he and Jack were not the same age. Jack was older… by several decades. Their coats were practically antique.
Finally Ianto faced the class and calmly unbuttoned his coat, turning to hand off to Jack who has shrugged off his own. "Thank you Captain."
"Of course Flight Lieutenant" Jack splendid, stepping back to show who was in charge today.
"I am Flight Lieutenant Ianto Phoenix Jones. I am one hundred and thirty two Galactic Standard years of age" Ianto began calmly "I have held higher rank, lost it due to punching my CO and telling too many pencil pushers where to put said pencils."
Some neurotic tittering started as Ianto showed where David got his mouth and others begin to remove their own coats, the room starting to fill with uniforms.
"I actually, hold the official rank of King's Service. See this medal? This one has the King's thump print in it. See? That is for bravery beyond the call. You see… when an assassination attempt was made on him, I was the one standing behind the throne, I momentarily deafened the poor man when I fired my pulse gun, killing those storming the room." Ianto patted his chest full of medals "I also have an official rank of Brigadier, but I hated that one. I had to step down in order to have my child. I became pregnant to a junior officer and I had to choose militarily or her. As my last daughter was in her eighties at the time, I know this might be my last chance to birth a child myself so… I stepped down and lost rank. Rhiannon was the sweetest, most shiny medal I ever gained for my service."
Rhiannon coloured at the back of the room as he looked over those listening "this planet… we live on a planet I bled for. Those around you in uniform, look around at those here that your children call ten Credit Sollys. Look hard… we walked this dirt before you. We bled here… killed here… some of our friends died here… so the colonists could settle. Long before you were even born, I was here. We are not the interlopers here. This is OUR planet. We won it fair and square. You are all here right now... because of our sacrifices."
The room was silent, everyone seemed to be shocked.
"I flew above, I walked below, I served my king and I prevailed" came several voices, chanting the old words.
"So… I hope you all now know who lives amongst you. We are not beneath you, you are not better than us and we will be here long after you are dead and gone, your kids too." Ianto boomed out in that deep bellow that had others snapping to attention "So stop fucking about and start getting along. Or do I have to come here again! Next time, I will show my teeth!"
Ianto swept from the room, followed by the others who had kept their coats on until now, Jack skipping along to find John Hart waiting for them outside "damn eye candy… you were fierce."
"I am what I am" Ianto replied.
"Hey… that's my line" Jack said with a grin.
Both men knowing there was nothing left to say.
Bullies? What bullies.
.
.
"So, any chance of a Friday Night Date?"
Ianto was stunned, swinging to stare at him "really? After all this time?"
Jack laughed "Come on, you asked for time to settle in. you've settled in. I am sick of creeping about. Our kids are all playing nice… come on. I wanna play too… but not that nice."
As Jack waggled his eyebrows Ianto found himself laughing along with him, what a nutta.
Things were looking great and now they had established dominance over the fuckers who had no idea who the real first boots on the ground people were, he was hopeful that things would continue to go smoothly.
Little did he know….
He should have knocked on wood.
