(Third Person's POV)
"Well, well, well...If it isn't the witch from class 1-2" the brunette was now surrounded by the infamous troop from her school.
"Are you referring to this one?" a black-haired male student from the back asked who appears to be their group's leader as he stared at her as if she were some trash that had been scattered on the streets. All of them gave her the same look.
'Great. What a wonderful day to start' the brunette thought glancing at each of them with a disinterested stare. "Need something? I don't have all day.." she tried going in the other direction but the blackhead blocks her way while facing her with a shit-eating grin.
"Yuji Selene, right? I find it hard to believe that you choose to play with an anime's 'children's card game' other than playing with Barbie dolls" all of them snickered at his comment. The brunette known as Yuji heard a lot about this blackhead, his name is Don, and he was formerly a prominent bridge player of the bridge club but was beaten by none other than her older brother, Yosef.
"What is it to you, blockhead?" she retorted.
"My...you sure have a feisty mouth" he smirked. "What about we play the game of bridge? If I beat you, you're going to spend some time with me for a week...other than that..." His face darkened for a moment remembering how her brother humiliated him in front of everyone at their bridge tournament. "I want revenge...I won't forgive your brother for what he had done to me"
"I am not my brother" Yuji replied, nonchalantly.
"I know about that.. you're just part of my plans to succeed in having revenge" he admits. Yuji narrowed her eyes at him.
"You won't stand a chance against me!" he brought out his deck of cards.
"Didn't you cheat in your tournaments because you lack some strategies? If you can't form any strategies then you'll never beat me... even in an anime card game" That remark angered him. Now, it's the brunette's time to be smug. "Once a cheater...
"What? Always a cheater? I dare you to finish that sentence off!"
"Always a loser" she smiled. Don gritted his teeth.
"Boss..this girl is surely getting too ahead of herself...shall we take her on?" one of his lackeys asked. But the said 'boss' ignored him.
"Why don't we switch to that game then we'll see!" Yuji's smile widened at this. 'Well. This has to be somehow interesting. No one has ever challenged me in a face-to-face duel besides my brother' "Only if you have a deck"
"Who says I don't have a deck" he put back his deck of bridge cards and pulled out his deck of Yu-Gi-Oh cards.
"It appears that you play the game too"
"Enough talk and let's start" Yuji brought out a mat and search for a suitable place where they can have their duel, she spotted a table and two chairs at the side of the street. She got there and so as Don. The rest of his group followed them to watch.
Both of them sat and each draws five cards to start the game. "It's a date. We should start doing this every day" Yuji stared at him in disgust. "Didn't you say enough talking?"
He smirks at her revolted face. "Heh...prepare to give in. Ladies first" Both of our life points start at 4000.
(A/n: Let this duel be a normal duel we used to watch in the series)

"Fine then" Yuji's hand revealed to be the three 'magician girls' and two magic cards: Berry Magician Girl, Kiwi Magician Girl, Apple Magician Girl, Books of Secret Arts, and Sage's Stone. "I'll start by placing Apple Magician Girl on ATK mode" she casually said and placed the card in the monster zone. "I'll place one card face down and end my turn. You're up"
Apple Magician Girl (1200/800)
"My turn. Draw. I summon Luster Dragon on ATK mode" He did the same and placed his monster in the monster zone. "Since Luster Dragon has higher ATK, I can attack your puny monster"
Luster Dragon (1900/1600)
"You don't know Apple Magician Girl's effect, do you?" she says. "If Apple Magician Girl's targeted for an attack, I can special summon a level 5 or lower monster from my hand, and the monster I special summon is Kiwi Magician Girl!"
Kiwi Magician Girl (1800/1200)
"And with that, your monster's ATK points are half and switches to battle this instead"
Luster Dragon 1900-950
Don loses 850 Life points.
Don's LP: 3150
"Just as I said, you need to form a strategy..not just attack unmindfully" Luster Dragon is now placed in the graveyard.
Don growls. 'Damn card effects' "I set a card. I end my turn"
Yuji's excitement rises, it is unusual to have duels in these situations. 'It would've been more exciting if holograms were invented in this game. Sadly, based on my research, this type of hologram seems impossible with modern technology'she sighed at the thought. "It's my turn. Draw" The card is Dark Magician Girl, she stared at it for a while when she noticed it glowed.
"Apple Magician Girl and Kiwi Magician Girl attack you directly" she declared.
"I flip up my face down card, Mirror Force!" Apple and Kiwi Magician Girl were supposed to be destroyed and sent to the graveyard due to Mirror Force's effect but...
Yuji sat calmly in front of him unaffected by his moves. "I see you used a trump card to protect your Life Points... unfortunately, I'm afraid Apple Magician Girl isn't the only one that has a special ability, Kiwi Magician Girl does too since Apple and Kiwi Magician Girl are Spellcaster-Types, they cannot be destroyed by card effects..."
"What?!.." His eyes widened as his Life points dropped to 150.
Don's LP: 150
Yuji's LP: 4000
"I end my turn"
"Draw. I summon Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1
Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1 (1400/1200)
"Since my monster is a Dragon-Type, I can activate its effect to special summon—"
"Sorry to interrupt, Winged Dragon is a normal monster so it doesn't have an effect" she cuts him off. 'He does have cards but doesn't know how to use them correctly'
"It does what it does" he took Luster Dragon from his graveyard.
"Are you making up its effects? That's against the rules" she confronted.
"As if I care.." he drew another card and he sort of wrecked the basic rules of duel monsters by placing it in the monster zone. The card is polymerization.
Yuji bit her tongue in an attempt to stop herself from laughing but she couldn't, she expressed a loud giggle. Don and the rest glared at her. "Go play your own game then..and I'll play mine" she smiles.
"I fuse my two dragon-type monsters to fusion summon Winged Luster Dragon of Fortress!" he placed Luster Dragon on top of Winged Dragon and he sounds like a kid with a lot of creativity. 'Good thing, I choose to use this deck because using my synchro, xyz, pendulum or link monsters would not be worth the effort' She giggled once again.
"My dragons combine their attack power for Winged Luster Dragon to gain 3300 ATK points Now I attack Apple Magician Girl" Yuji did not hesitate to put Kiwi Magician Girl in the graveyard, playing along.
As for Don, he doesn't care what type of monsters he attacks. All he knows is it is his victory. "You look pitiful, guess I'll end my turn to be fair"
Yuji snickered at his remark. 'Pftt. Fair, really?'
Don's LP: 150

"I draw" She almost sounded like Tea Gardner from DSOD at Duel Links when she says it. "I sacrifice Kiwi Magician Girl to tribute summon Dark Magician Girl...then I activate my spell, Sage's stone, it calls its master, Dark Magician"
Dark Magician then pulls itself out of her deck to her surprise.
Dark Magician (2500/2100)
She picks it up and placed it in attack mode regaining back her composure on the duel. "I then activate my equip spell, Bound Wand, and equip it with Dark Magician and it gains 100 ATK points by its level"
Dark Magician 2500-3200
"It's still not strong enough though" Don stated.
"You're right..but you must've forgotten about my face-down card, Books of Secret Arts, Dark Magician gains another 300 ATK points!"
Dark Magician 3200-3500
"No way!"
"Do you honestly think it was a trap card? Now I attack with Dark Magician"
"I activate my monster's effect—"
"Don... didn't you know real Yu-Gi-Oh fans are watching?" Don looks up from his cards to see a crowd from the overpass that he failed to notice, they were all watching, laughing at him. He turns red from embarrassment.
"Accept that you lose"
Don's LP: 0
Yuji's LP: 1900
"No! I would've won if not for those damn effects you put up and I would've succeeded in planning my revenge" he punches the table and a few of the card drop to the ground, he was angered he faced another humiliation. Yuji took her deck and stood up. "It's not winning, it's cheating"
"Why would I need to follow the rules just for a cheap card game!"
"It's clear that you don't understand a thing about games, I have to take my leave" She then walks away leaving the fuming blackhead and his group trying to calm him down.
(Yuji's POV)
"I expected more of a real duel" I mumbled while shuffling my cards. 'Just thinking back about that duel...It gave me Yu-Gi-Oh vibes and I didn't know that someone can be that overdramatic because of losing on a card game' A small laugh escapes my mouth. 'What a sore loser. Not worth making a strategy'
I stopped shuffling and picked up one card. It's the Dark Magician Girl. 'Something has been bothering me about it ever since I had it when I was little. I've been lately anxious every time I touch it. It's just a card so I know it can't hurt me but it's like it's signaling me something
A loud knocking sound was heard through the door that startled me and got me completely out of my thoughts. "Who is it?.." I paused for a moment, unsure if I should open it or not. The knock turns into a banging sound. "I won't open the door unless you answer me first.." I called. The door soon slams open to reveal some thugs.
"We're looking for Yosef Eldrine" One of the thugs stepped forward inside the house having a grouchy look on his face.

I narrowed my eyes at them and crossed my arms. "What business do you have with my brother?" 'Like what's wrong with people targeting Yosef so suddenly?'
"So you're his sister?"
"Didn't I just say that he's my brother?" I replied sarcastically.
"Ha ha very funny. Listen girly. It's just between me and your brother, so tell your brother to come out and stop being a sissy" he demanded.
"Let me remind you that you are all inside my house so you have no right to order me around. You didn't even mind taking off your shoes even though there's a huge note attached to the door saying it" I point out glaring at them. "Leave before I call the cops"
Eventually, footsteps came downstairs in our direction. I immediately recognize those footsteps belong to my brother, Yosef. "Yuji, what's going on?" He halted when he saw the trespassers behind me.
"Yosef, you got some explaining to do. Now tell me why on earth are they looking for you?" I questioned while having a stern look on my face as if I were the eldest one.
"Just a little misconception"
"A little misconception? Don't make me laugh! Did you forget that we made a deal?! You were supposed to wag that golden hairpin in exchange because your father didn't pay up his debt!" The thug glowered at him. "Now hand it over!"
"We did have a deal, but I promised you to pay up in another way!" He defended.
"The hairpin is the only thing I needed!" The thug pushed me out of the way making me recoil back.
A golden hairpin scepter-shaped which my brother has in front of him holding it in a defensive stance. 'What's so special about it? It's not like it can do anything, right?'
"It won't work unless it is with its rightful chosen soul"
'Huh..?'
The thugs teamed up to reach the hairpin out from his grip. While he dodges away from them. "Yuji, you have to run" I ran but not far away from our house. Afterward, I dialed the cops.
'I have to do something'
When I came back, the sharp-pointed part of the hairpin is now pointed to Yosef's stomach in an attempt to plunge it in but Yosef kept his grip on it and wrestled with them. I tackled a guy that was about to stab him with a knife. "Don't think so!"
"Yuji?.. didn't I tell you to run?!"
"As if I'll leave you behind!" I argued. "Besides, the cops are arriving in about 3 minutes!" And then it hit me—I just said that out loud.
"You called on the cops?" The thug suddenly turns to me while he wrestles with my brother.
"No. The phone worked itself and called them"
"You'll pay for that girly!"
"For goodness' sake, I have a name!"
"What's taking you all so long?" A new figure arrives and abruptly snatches the golden hairpin from them. Not only that, the voice is noticeably dark and eerie which can send chills down your spine.
I became shocked that I almost forgot about the thug I tackled to the ground. The next thing I knew, I was suddenly flung away from him.
Facing the other guy who somehow looks familiar. "You're..." The atmosphere becomes silent and I can't move or feel myself anymore.
Until I felt a piercing pain, and the guy's face filled with grim came into my view. "I won't let you stand against my wishes to rule over the world..."
"Yuji...!!!"
' I...'
"Yuji...!!!"
'..can't...'
'Yuji..it's me! _!'
'..?'
"I need you to touch the hairpin! It's the only way you can survive..."
Skeptically, I did what I heard inside my head. My mind is completely dazed and extremely tedious to think over anything.
The hairpin glowed and a bright light surrounds and consumes me.
What a wonderful day, indeed.
