Disclaimer: Short number two baby. This is about Liberty's afternoon routine. For anyone who's figured out one particular element I added to her character, besides her desire for connections of course, feel free to say!
Here's a tip: Pay close attention to how she behaves in certain situations.
Also, I don't own Paw Patrol.
PPX: The Routine of Liberty
Chapter two: Liberty's Afternoon Routine
Liberty was waiting at the side of a house window, checking her watch as she started gently pulling one of her ears anxiously. It seemed as if it was getting close to another one of the scheduled events in her daily routine. Thankfully, a friendly woman with brown hair and a yellow blouse peeked out with a brown bag for her. "Don't you worry Liberty! I've got the usual right here!"
Liberty stopped pulling her ear and sighed of relief upon this, accepting the sacked lunch as the lady tossed it down to her. "Yep. Thanks Martha. Right at twelve o clock too!"
Martha was happy to hear that, and not just because Liberty's schedule anxiety was eased. She always enjoyed helping her get through the day. "I'd be happy to cook you a real meal if you want."
"I appreciate it Martha, but I feel bad enough needing to ask you for the bare minimum." Liberty admitted, wishing she didn't have to keep asking others for help. She looked through the bag to see if it was all there as she continued talking about her struggle. "I'm kinda surprised none have you have gotten annoyed by me by now."
Martha could tell that Liberty had a lot going on. The last thing she needed however, was to feel she was a burden. "Really, it's no trouble Liberty. Plus, it gives me something to do with the kids at school and my husband at work."
Liberty did feel better upon hearing that, even though she first pointed out what Martha gave to her. "PB with smooth peanut butter and strawberry jelly, carrot sticks, and strawberry soda all in order. Yep. All here." She then addressed what Martha said so she knew she wasn't ignoring her. "That's true. At least I can provide that for you." Liberty happily rolled up her lunch and smiled to Martha as she walked off. "Thanks Martha."
"Anytime Liberty!" Martha called out, and Liberty started looking for a place to eat her food after heading away from the house with wheely.
Liberty was eating her lunch in the park as she looked over the area, which was still crowded with people hanging out and playing. She was enjoying her food as always, and was glad that she had some more fuel for what would be coming up later. She cracked open her soda after finishing her food and looked around before she started chugging it down. It was revealed why when she was finished, as she let out a loud...
URRRP
...one second burp that let out a green cloud, followed up by her lifting her right hind leg and her face scrunching as she released...
PFFT
...a quick but loud one second fart, letting out a peanut butter scented fart with a green cloud, which she wafted away after letting it out. It wasn't that she was ashamed of her farts or burps, but she preferred not to do so in the park, only doing it with no life around to damage when she absolutely had to. It was safe to assume most of her gas was let out indoors, where she couldn't damage nature or anything like that. Anyway, after she finished her food, she went over to a trash can and threw her trash out. Then she put the can into the recycling bin next to it.
Liberty smiled and patted her stomach, glad to see that she was being well fed as always. "Yep. Perfect afternoon meal fuel." She then walked off to head into town and start her afternoon patrol, where she knew at least one resident would need her help during.
Liberty was getting a look around down during her afternoon patrol, and she caught sight of the setup for the Adventure City mayor election nearby. When she saw the fireworks and speakers that were being set up on stage, she shuddered and tried to continue on with her day. As she walked down the street, trying to shake the idea of the mayor announcement off her mind, a Labrador Retriever placed a paw on her shoulder. This startled her, and she instantly grabbed the paw and threw a Labrador Retriever over her shoulder and slammed him onto the ground.
Once Liberty realized who she slammed to the ground, hearing his groan of pain, she felt awful and tried to help him up. "Oh God. I'm sorry Harris."
"That's okay." Harris assured Liberty, putting his socket back in place as he brought up his own part in that incident. "Three years, and I still can't remember to speak up before I touch you." Liberty and Harris then started walking together with Liberty looking around for any possible trouble as Harris struck conversation. "So anyway, can you believe the guy who's announcing himself as Mayor tomorrow?"
"Barely. The dude sounds like a real jerk wad." Liberty responded, turning around the corner with Harris to spot a car carrying all of the Mayor's things. "Mayor Humdinger, right? Apparently, the Paw Patrol have been dealing with him cheating at events and stealing stuff out of greed for years now."
Harris knew for a fact he didn't want anyone like that running this place. "How did they even let someone like that run for mayor in a city this big?"
Liberty didn't show it, but she was fuming inside. She just knew someone like Humdinger would destroy this city. "I don't think anyone could answer that question." Liberty then started to get upset about how Humdinger just got away with that. "How can we even let a greedy scumbag like him into our city? That's just so wrong."
Harris had to agree with Liberty on that one. "I can't say-"
"If I were in charge, I would've kicked him out of this city as soon as he came for that dumb election!" Liberty interrupted, failing to notice at first that Harris was talking. When she did, she quickly corrected herself. "Oh; sorry. Did I do the thing again?"
Harris laughed a bit before he confirmed it. "You did, but I get it." Liberty was glad Harris wasn't upset with him then offering his help. "I'll help you keep up to date with what he does around here."
Liberty pressed a button at the start of the crosswalk by jumping up, and then she spoke up in regards to what Harris just said. "I appreciate that Harris. I'm glad I'm not the only one looking after the city." When the sign changed, the two dogs walked across it as Liberty spoke up about how small she felt at times. "I think it's pretty clear that one Dachshund isn't enough for the job."
"It IS pretty big." Harris admitted, but he was confident that Liberty could continue to handle it. "Just know that I'm here to help if things ever get too hard."
"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." Liberty responded, shaking her feelings off to focus on her patrol. Harris knew she didn't say that to be rude, but rather to express that she didn't want to be a burden to Harris. He was never annoyed by her quirks, but her anxiety over annoying others or scaring them off made her fail to realize that. He didn't think that was possible for a pup like Liberty. He hoped that one day, he would be able to help her see just how much she was doing for this city.
About an hour and a half later, Liberty was helping pick up trash at the park, and was taking her bag over to the dumpster nearby. She was quite proud of her progress, and a human wearing a garbage man uniform came over to her to praise her for her efforts. "Nice work Liberty!" He threw his bag in as well, glad to see the effort they were making pay off. "Nothing like cleaning up the lungs of the city."
"You said it Aaron." Liberty responded, and since she'd already heard that metaphor before, she was quick to point out something new she learned about it. "So that saying DOES work for city parks." Aaron laughed a bit after Liberty said that, glad to see that she was getting better with her metaphors.
Liberty was listening to music on the subway later that day, making sure her music player didn't leave her paw as she did. She was definitely into her tune, even snapping her fingers to the beat of it while also making sure not to do it too much to avoid annoying any of the passengers. Thankfully, most of them were fine with it. One of the passengers next to her however... not so much. This was a gray wolf, and he nudged Liberty to get her attention. This caused Liberty to snap and instantly bite at the wolf, causing him to flinch and startling everyone else.
After realizing what she just did, Liberty quickly paused her music and took her ear buds off as she apologized frantically for her incident. "I'm so sorry! Stuff like that just happens whenever I'm touched unexpectedly, I swear I-"
"Hey hey hey, easy kid." The gray wolf interrupted, making it clear that him touching Liberty like that was a mistake. He definitely didn't wanna provoke her any further. "I was gonna say your finger snapping was getting distracting, but I think I'll just change seats." The gray wolf walked off in confusion over what just happened. "Sheesh; first day here and the kids are the scary ones."
Liberty felt awful for scaring the gray wolf like that, but knew there wasn't anything else she could do about it. "Sorry everyone." She put her ear buds back on and tried to zone out with her music again. She couldn't believe that happened again. This is exactly what she wants to avoid. If only she knew how to control herself in these kinds of situations. She tried to keep herself from breaking down over this, wishing she knew how to control her ticks better. Thankfully, her music was a good way to calm her down after any incident that went too far for her.
Liberty was getting off the subway and headed over to the stair rail, jumping up onto it and sliding down with a laugh. When she reached the bottom, she slid underneath a human who waved to her and walked onward. She felt much better after her subway train incident and kept going on with her day. She got a look at her watch and saw that it was almost five o clock. Knowing she had somewhere she was usually at around this time, she panicked and started running the best she could without bumping into anyone. "Oh crap; I'm almost late!"
Liberty did her best parkour skills, jumping off of walls and onto fire hydrants, and even sliding under a beam that two construction workers were carrying. She then made a sharp turn, running down the sidewalk the best she could before making another sharp turn down an alleyway different from the one she lived in. She jumped onto a trash can and started rolling before jumping off of a wall. She then grabbed onto the nearest balcony, climbing up the best her little legs could do for her.
After Liberty managed to get up to the balcony, she sighed of relief and knocked on the balcony door. When she got there, she was greeted by a male Boxer dog who looked to be the same age as her. She was glad to see that Liberty could make it, commenting on her consistent timing. "Five o clock once again Liberty. You never cease to satisfy me."
"That's the idea Jimmy." Jimmy allowed Liberty into his apartment with Liberty checking to see if anyone else was home. "Your owners still at work?"
"Yep. Should be just enough time to have out next round." Liberty couldn't help getting excited from that. Despite the nature of it, she loved what was about to happen.
