Author's Note: This three-parter will finally introduce a group of villains I've been anticipating to get onto the scene. You guys will know who they are in the next chapter. I will let you know that they are not from the Alpha Gang, that much is what I can currently say.

Chapter 7: Trouble at the Great Wall - Part 1

[Great Wall of China]

(3rd POV)

Nighttime fell over a small town near the Great Wall of China. Many people turned in for the night, so no one was able to be there when a small leaf landed on a pile of logs used for a fire. The logs still had some heat in them, and once the leaf touched them, a fire started.

Thankfully for the townsfolk, the fire moved to the forest and spread in there. As trees became coated in flames, one fell over and a branch hit an egg capsule, opening it up and spilling out two cards.

The fire soon covered the two cards. Yet, instead of being destroyed, they glowed red and came to life. Out came a large, light green theropod with dark green spots that was even larger than Terry and Tyrunt. Despite being a Fire Element, it actually had three claws instead of two, which was more common among theropods. The carnivore roared and soon something formed in its mouth. It was a large fireball.

The dinosaur fired the fireball like it was a cannon and sent it flying through the forest before it exploded and spread the fire further. The large carnivore gave out a loud roar of victory.

[Excavation site, near the Taylor Household]

(Daniel's POV)

I was together with my friends Max, Rex and Zoe near a cliff by Max's house. I was currently digging with Rex by the cliffside with a pickaxe. Tyrunt and Giganto was playing chase with Ace while Paris and Chomp were busy eating grass.

"Yes!" came a cheerful voice from Max.

I glanced over my shoulder as the dinos saw him getting out of the bush.

"I found another card capsule!" Max concluded, holding a dirty, round object in his hands. "Awesome! Now let's see which one this contains!" He wiped off the dirt only to discover a blue ball instead. "Oh, it's just a dumb old rubber ball," he said with disappointment.

"Come on, do you really think we'll be lucky enough to find more cards in this same forest?" Zoe asked, walking over to him.

Max stood up and addressed her. "As a member of the D-Team - except Daniel's case - it just so happen to be our mission to collect all the cards. That way, we can save the dinosaurs. Maybe you and Rex could start searching, too."

Zoe just had a simple expression on her face. "Max, they're scattered all over the world. Again, it's kind of hard to believe that many others are just lying in our backyard."

"You should listen to her, Max," I added. "Remember when all the species were in all the parts of the world in their age? They were scattered all over during that time. It's no wonder the cards would be, too."

"Are you with me, or against me, Daniel?" he frowned.

"Neither," I shrugged. "I'm not sure what you are talking about. Why should I be against you when I'm not even on your team? I have my own team to look after."

"Then, why are Christian and Jake not with us?" Chomp asked.

"It's because they're on a vacation," I recalled.

(Flashback)

I was together with Dad, as Christian and Jake was ready to take a plane to someplace in China. "See you later, guys!" I waved my farewell to them.

(End of flashback)

"Right, I kind of remember you told us that," Max remembered.

I nodded, resuming my digging with my pickaxe.

Oblivious to us chatting, however, Rex continued digging while he was looking for something of interest in the cliff, when Ace continued to run away from Tyrunt and Giganto. The Carnotaurus decided to hang out with Tyrunt and Giganto for the day. As it turned out, Tyrunt was a rough player. And this made perfectly clear when Tyrunt would use his teeth to catch Ace's tail, not holding back his bite force. "Don't bite me!" Ace yelled at him.

As they continued running, Ace quickly ran right in front of Rex and me, causing Tyrunt and Giganto to do the same. We jumped back in surprise. "Aah! Watch it!" Rex yelled at the two.

"Yeah, better watch it. Tyrunt, can't you take your game somewhere else, please?" I added in annoyance.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" Ace apologized. "But I'm trying to avoid becoming someone's breakfast!"

"Oh, stop being such a drama queen," Tyrunt rolled his eyes. "It's only a nibble."

"Yeah, sure," Giganto stuck her tongue out at him. "Tell that to all the prey you ate with those jaws."

"You should speak for yourself, Giganto…" Ace muttered.

"What was that?" She growled at him, causing him to jerk back.

"Nothing!" Ace said innocently.

I could tell Max saw how the scene played out. He looked at the ball in his hand. "Hey, Ace and Tyrunt! Fetch!" He tossed them the rubber ball he had found. Ace stopped running and caught the rubber ball in his mouth, gently as to not pop it. He tossed it over to Giganto, who then proceeded to do the same with Tyrunt.

"Phew!" Ace sighed in relief, as Tyrunt tossed the ball over.

Both Rex and I mentally thanked Max before returning to our digging. Almost immediately, Rex found something of interest. "Look at this! An ammonite!" he showed us the fossil as he picked it up. "A marine animal fossil in perfect condition! Wow!"

Soon, I spotted something as well. It had a fossilized feather in the formation. "And I found something, too! A feather fossil!" I picked it up to show them.

"Those are rare, and it looks to be in perfect condition as well," Rex commented.

I nodded.

However, as Ace walked over to us, Tyrunt tossed the ball over to him. Unfortunately, it missed and caused me to drop the feather fossil to the ground, with it shattering in pieces with a crack. "Aah, no! My fossil!"

Tyrunt immediately saw the mistake he did. "Uh-oh…" he gulped when I glared at him in a burning rage.

Rex's fossil was also shattered in pieces. He looked at it, dumbfounded. He glared up at Max. "I told you they were playing too hard! Now look what you did! So much for our perfect fossils…"

"Sorry, Rex. Daniel. It was an accident," Tyrunt apologized.

Giganto shot him a glare. "Yeah, an accident. That's what we should say when you don't use that big, thick skull of yours!"

Tyrunt blinked, backing up in surprise. "What did I do to you?"

"Nothing, but what you did to our partner!" Giganto gave him a growl.

I had my face darkened, slowly picking up my perfect feather fossil's pieces. Obviously, my friends were not noticing the fact I was crying, except for Rex. He could tell what was wrong, but did not say anything as he also picked up his own fossil pieces.

"Here, let me help you," Max volunteered.

"No thanks," Rex said. "We can do this ourselves. Right, Daniel?"

"Yeah," I agreed. "So much help you are, Max."

"Come on, you two. I get you're both mad at Tyrunt, but why me? I didn't do anything wrong," Max defended himself.

"Exactly," Giganto nodded. "You did nothing."

"What's that supposed to mean?!" Max asked, as if offended by the Gigantonosaurus's tone.

"You guys, please don't fight!" Zoe pleaded while Rex and I glared at Max.

[The D-Lab]

I was currently at my own table, trying to work on repairing the feathered fossil I had found. It was pretty broken, all of its pieces shattered thanks to Tyrunt's little rough play earlier. Speaking of the Tyrannosaurus, he was getting scolded by Giganto and Paris, while he tried defending himself.

As for Rex, he was also trying to slowly getting his fossil back to its condition. Thankfully he had Ace to help him with the Carnotaurus sniffing on the pieces to know which ones were similar.

Without me knowing, I flinched when I felt Spike Taylor's presence beside me. "You know, Daniel. I could try and help you put it together."

"Are you also an expert on putting previously perfect fossils together?" I asked.

"Well, I managed to help Reese put some fossils on display here," he told me, motioning to the T-Rex fossil in the room.

"I appreciate the help, Dr. Taylor," I thanked him.

Spike smiled.

As soon as we managed to put the small pieces of my feather fossil in their proper places, my Dino Gauntlet beeped. "Another dinosaur has appeared," I realized.

"Where?" Max asked.

Reese turned on the screen. "Looks like it's in Asia, more specifically, right near the Great Wall of China."

"The Great Wall of China, huh?" I whistled. "Looks like my friends wanted to sightseeing there."

"We'd better hurry if we are to capture the dinosaur before the Alpha Gang does," Zoe reminded us.

"Right!" We agreed.

We stepped on the teleporter.

"You do realize the Great Wall of China is incredibly long. Almost twice the length of the Japanese archipelago. As a doctor of paleontology, I happen to have spent time studying that mighty wall and would be more than happy to-"

"Later!" I called out, pressing the button and we were teleported away from the D-Lab.
