Tsunade examined the ancient script with a furrowed brow, her fingers tracing the delicate lines of the characters. After a moment, she sighed.

Tsunade explained, "Naruto, this script is beyond my expertise. The only scholars capable of translating such texts reside in the Land of Water, under the domain of the Village Sealed with Water, governed by the Kirikage, Mei Terumi."

Naruto, absorbing this information, felt a surge of determination. A journey to the Land of Water seemed like a daunting quest, yet the promise of unlocking the secrets hidden within the ancient script fueled his resolve.

In a hushed exchange, Naruto voiced his concerns to Tsunade. "What if Itachi's after the same knowledge hidden in that script? What if he's waiting in the Land of Water, hoping to unravel the mysteries just like I am?"

Tsunade, her gaze steady, acknowledged the potential risks. "It's a possibility we can't ignore. Be vigilant, Naruto. The Land of Water has a rich history, and part of it does include the Uchiha Clan. Are you thinking of going there?"

Naruto, with a confused look, replied, "Uh... Yeah."

Tsunade, maintaining a stern demeanor, shook her head. "Naruto, you can't just venture into the Land of Water without proper authorization. Government-ordained seamen in international waters are wary of who they allow to travel with them, and they typically require a certain number of completed missions to earn the right to charter a boat. You'll 1 S-rank or A-rank, or 3 B-ranks, or 5 C-ranks. Anything less makes it doubtful that you'll get a boat."

Naruto shrugged. "How about a non-government boat?"

Tsunade looked at Naruto with a mix of concern and caution. "Going off the grid and finding a boat outside of official channels is risky, Naruto. If you're set on this, you need someone reliable, someone you can trust to navigate these uncharted waters. This is not a journey to undertake carelessly."

Naruto nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I'll find someone, Granny. Someone I trust with my life."

Tsunade's expression softened, and she offered a piece of advice, "Make sure it's someone who understands the risks and is prepared for whatever may come. And be cautious, Naruto. The Land of Water is a place with its own set of dangers."

Her voice carried a stern tone as she cautioned Naruto further, "Remember, Naruto, if you embark on this journey, consider it part of your personal time. The village can't officially sanction it; your allotted vacation days will be stamped.."

Naruto nodded, acknowledging the weight of Tsunade's words. "I get it, Granny. ..This is something I need to do. I'll be careful."

Tsunade gave a firm nod, her concern evident. "Just be mindful, Naruto. The choices you make now can have lasting consequences."

As he left, Naruto muttered to himself, "Not from what I've seen..."

Village

As Naruto wandered around the Village to find someone to go on this journey, he spotted Ebisu walking outside a restaurant.

Naruto approached Ebisu, his expression a mix of determination and anticipation. He told him about the book and the scholars, and ended with his offer. "Ebisu-sensei, I need someone reliable for a journey. You're skilled, and I trust your judgment. Will you join me?"

Ebisu scratched his head, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Naruto, as interesting as all this sounds, I have other responsibilities here. However, I have an idea. Why not ask Jiraiya? He's still around, and he's experienced in these matters."

Naruto winced at the suggestion. "Jiraiya? Ugh... Yeah, I'll go talk to him. Thanks, Ebisu-sensei."

Ebisu nodded, offering a supportive smile. "Good luck, Naruto. Just be cautious, and remember, you need a good reign on that man to keep him at your benefit."

Red Light District

Naruto hesitated at the entrance of a hedonistic club, where the lively music and vibrant lights spilled into the night. He stepped in, his gaze scanning the room and glazing past the drunkards and undressed women.

If he's anywhere, he's definitely here.

Spotting Jiraiya at a corner table, surrounded by exotic dancers, Naruto took a deep breath and approached.

"Pervy Sage...," he began, "I need to talk to you about something important."

Jiraiya looked up, momentarily distracted from the ladies. "Well, if it isn't my favorite student! Mr. Wants Nothing to do with Me! What brings you to a place like this? Aren't you a little young to give in to your vices?"

Naruto scratched his head awkwardly. "It's about a mission, but not the usual kind. It's something I can't really handle alone."

Jiraiya raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A mission, you say? Sit down, Naruto. Let's hear what's got you looking so serious."

As Naruto explained the situation—the mysterious book, the foreign script, and the journey to the Land of Water—Jiraiya's expression shifted from curiosity to contemplation.

"Land of Water, eh?" Jiraiya mused, taking a sip from his drink. "Sounds like there's more to this story. What's in it for me?"

Naruto sighed. "I know you're busy with your research and all, but you're the only one I can trust for this. Please, Pervy Sage, I need your help. I can't do it alone."

Jiraiya leaned back, studying Naruto for a moment before grinning. "Well, Naruto, you've always been persuasive... Fine, I'll join you on this little adventure. But only if you promise me two things: one, no interruptions when I'm doing my 'research,' and two, you owe me a drink at every stop we make."

Naruto's face lit up with gratitude. "Deal! Thanks a bunch. This means a lot to me. We leave at sun-up tomorrow!"

"Sunset."

The boy pouted. "... Sunset..."

Jiraiya chuckled. "Just don't make me regret it, kid. Now, let me finish up here. I'll meet you at the East Village Gates when I'm ready. This better be worth the trouble!"

With a playful pat on Naruto's shoulder, Jiraiya returned to the dancers, leaving Naruto to contemplate the journey that lay ahead with his eccentric mentor by his side.

He knows I was lying about trusting him... Exploiting a sad old man wasn't my first choice... But what choice do I have?

Sakura's House

Naruto found Sakura at her house, surrounded by the comforting scent of vanilla. As he hesitated in the doorway, Sakura looked up from her work, a warm smile lighting up her face.

"Hey, Naruto. What brings you here?" she greeted, setting aside a vial of healing salve.

Naruto took a deep breath, knowing that what he was about to say would change things. "Sakura, I've got something important to talk to you about."

Sakura tilted her head curiously. "Sure, what's on your mind?"

Naruto explained the entire situation—the mysterious book, the foreign script, the journey to the Land of Water, and Jiraiya joining him on this unexpected mission. As he spoke, Sakura's expression shifted from curiosity to a mixture of concern and understanding.

"So, you're leaving again," she said softly as he finished. "Another journey, just when things were starting to settle down."

Naruto took a step back, feeling a twinge of guilt. "I know it's not the best timing, especially with everything going on. But I need to figure out what this book is about, Sakura. It might hold answers to some mysteries."

Sakura sighed, her gaze thoughtful. "I get that, Naruto, doesn't make it any easier to see you go again."

Naruto nodded, appreciating her honesty. "I'm sorry, Sakura. I didn't plan for this, and I wish I could stay. But I need to follow this lead, for myself and maybe for something bigger."

Sakura stood up, walking over to Naruto and placing a hand on his shoulder. "Just promise me you'll be careful, okay? No reckless antics."

He grinned, squeezing her hand. "I'll do my best, Sakura. And I promise to come back in one piece. Besides, I'll have Pervy Sage watching my back."

Sakura chuckled, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "Yeah, that's reassuring."

Naruto's expression softened. "I'll miss you, Sakura. But I'll be back before you know it."

Sakura pulled him into a gentle hug, burying her face in his shoulder. "Stay safe, Naruto. And bring back some good stories."

As they parted, Naruto gave her a determined smile. "Count on it. See you soon, Sakura."

Before he could leave, Sakura put her hand on his shoulder again, prompting him to turn around.

She gave him a kiss on the cheek and said, "For good luck. Stay safe."

The boy smiled and hugged her.

With that, Naruto left Sakura's house, carrying a mix of emotions as he prepared for the journey that awaited him.

Hokage's Office

Tsunade raised an eyebrow when Naruto informed her that he had convinced Jiraiya to accompany him on the journey. The surprise lingered on her face before transforming into a wry smile.

"Jiraiya, huh? Well, that's unexpected," she remarked, leaning back in her chair.

Naruto grinned, proud of his decision. "Yeah, I asked Ebisu and he said no. Then I thought of Pervy Sage and figured he's got connections all over. If anyone can help me navigate through this, it's him."

Tsunade nodded approvingly. "You've got a point there, Naruto. Jiraiya's not just a pervert; he's a well-connected pervert with a wealth of information. Smart move."

Naruto chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "Thanks, Granny. I thought it might be the best way to make this trip work."

Tsunade's expression softened, and she gave him a more serious look. "Just be careful, Naruto. Jiraiya might be experienced, but that doesn't mean you should let your guard down. And watch out for each other."

Naruto nodded solemnly. "I will, Granny. We're not chasing after any thieves or killers this time, but I'll stay alert."

Tsunade smirked, her eyes glinting with a mix of pride and amusement. "Good. And remember, if things get too dicey, there's no shame in turning back. Your safety comes first."

With those words of caution, Tsunade waved him off. As Naruto left her office, he couldn't help but feel a sense of determination mingled with a touch of anxiety. The journey ahead promised both challenges and discoveries, and he was ready to face them with Jiraiya by his side.

Penthouse

Anko furrowed her brow in concern as Naruto informed her of his upcoming journey with Jiraiya. She leaned against the doorway of the penthouse, her arms crossed.

"Jiraiya, huh? That old man is known for more than just his smut," she warned, a hint of suspicion in her voice. "Make sure he doesn't drag you into any of his schemes, Naruto. He's got a reputation for being the dictionary definition of a lecher."

Naruto scratched his head, grinning. "Yeah, I know. But I was pretty much raised by him. I think I can handle him."

Anko sighed, her expression softening. "Just be careful, alright? I've seen Jiraiya's influence on people, and it's not always for the better. Don't let him lead you astray."

Naruto nodded, appreciating Anko's concern. "I'll keep that in mind, Anko. Thanks for looking out for me."

Then, Naruto hesitated, contemplating the idea of sleeping in the Uchiha penthouse with Sasuke soon to return. Anko raised an eyebrow, sensing his unease.

"You worried about sharing space with Sasuke?" she asked, a knowing look in her eyes.

Naruto nodded, a conflicted expression on his face. "Yeah, it's just... things have been pretty tense between us, and... He killed Shisui. I don't know how it'll be when he's back."

Anko placed a hand on his shoulder, offering a reassuring smile. "People change, Naruto. Give it a chance. Living together might help bridge the gap. Just be open to it."

Naruto sighed, absorbing Anko's advice. "Yeah... It might not be enough to bury the hatchet, but... Thanks, Anko."

Naruto answered the door when the bell rang.

Ebisu's arrival was unexpected, and Naruto exchanged a glance with Anko as they welcomed him into the penthouse. Sasuke stood there, as well, a stoic expression on his face, and Ebisu wasted no time in explaining his role.

"I've been assigned to keep an eye on Sasuke during his house arrest, at least while Anko is recovering.", Ebisu stated, his demeanor stern. "Rest assured, I won't let him cause any trouble."

Naruto nodded, recognizing the necessity of such measures. Anko, though recovering, observed Sasuke with a discerning gaze, aware of the potential tensions within the household.

"Alright, Ebisu. Thanks for taking on this responsibility," Naruto said, trying to maintain a diplomatic tone.

Ebisu nodded, and with that, he assumed his duties as the guardian of Sasuke during his restricted stay in the Uchiha penthouse. The air in the room carried a palpable tension, hinting at the challenges that lay ahead.

Naruto, feeling the need for space and familiarity, decided to spend the night at his own apartment. As he gathered himself, Anko expressed understanding, and Sasuke remained silent, his eyes betraying no emotion.

"Take care, Naruto," Anko said, her voice holding a hint of concern.

"I'll see you tomorrow," Naruto assured them, attempting to mask the complexity of his emotions.

With a parting nod, he left the Uchiha penthouse, the door closing behind him, leaving the trio to navigate the dynamics within the confined space of their shared residence. The night held a quiet tension, mirroring the unresolved threads of their intertwined lives.

Village, Next Morning

In the early light of dawn, Naruto sought out Kurenai, driven by the urgency of his impending journey. He found her at a training ground, meditating with a focused demeanor.

"Kurenai-sensei," Naruto began, approaching with a determined expression. "I'm heading to the Land of Water to unravel some Uchiha mystery possibly related to Itachi, and I was wondering if you'd join me. And, uh, there's a catch – Pervy Sage, er, Jiraiya, is tagging along."

Kurenai raised an eyebrow, her genjutsu dispelled. "Jiraiya? That infamous pervert?"

Naruto scratched his head, looking sheepish. "Yeah, that's the one. But he's got connections, and I figure they might come in handy. Plus, we need someone reliable, and he's... well, available."

Kurenai crossed her arms, considering the proposition. "Why not ask someone else besides him? Surely there's another option."

Naruto sighed, his gaze shifting to the distant horizon. "I'm asking you, aren't I? You seem to be good with minors as well as adults, and I thought you might be interested in this Uchiha business."

Kurenai studied Naruto for a moment, weighing the pros and cons. "Fine, I'll come along, but only if I can convince Asuma, to make sure Jiraiya behaves himself. I won't tolerate any degrading antics."

Naruto grinned with relief. "Deal! Thanks, Kurenai-sensei. We leave at sunset, so be ready."

Kurenai sighed. "And it's coming out of our vacation days, isn't it?"

Naruto blushed, and slowly nodded.

East Village Gates, Dusk

The sky painted hues of orange and purple as Naruto, Kurenai, and Asuma gathered at the village gates to meet Jiraiya. Naruto's eyes flickered with a mix of determination and apprehension, knowing that this journey held both potential answers and unpredictable challenges.

Jiraiya, with a sly grin, was already there, ogling every woman who passed by.

"Hey, Naruto! Ready for our grand adventure?" Jiraiya greeted, waving enthusiastically.

Naruto gave a half-smile, acknowledging the eccentric Sannin. "Yeah, ready as I'll ever be. This is Kurenai-sensei and Asuma-sensei," he introduced, gesturing to the approaching figures.

Kurenai raised an eyebrow, exchanging a glance with Asuma. "Jiraiya, I hope you understand the gravity of this journey. We're not here for your usual antics."

Asuma, cigarette dangling from his lips, nodded in agreement. "We're here for answers, not distractions. We've got vacation time riding on this!"

Jiraiya feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart. "Come on, you wound me. I'm a man of focus and determination when it comes to serious matters."

Naruto rolled his eyes.

Kurenai raised an eyebrow, skeptical but willing to give him a chance. "We'll see about that."

With their impromptu team assembled, they set off towards the Land of Water, the journey ahead shrouded in the uncertainty of untold secrets and potential peril.
