Once alone, I let out a hard sigh. The pity I felt for Misa Amane merely days ago was long gone. If she isn't begging me to let her go, she's calling me a pervert when I free her ankles to go to the bathroom or offering to sign something for me if I'd let her go. I was surprised at how much she had begun to get on my nerves.

L suddenly received a call and had to cut this morning's interrogation short, via Watari, with Amane and me. With the unforeseen surge of free time, I decided to finish unpacking my things.

Lights hung from the ceiling and illuminated the hallway, six empty dark cells sat in an orderly fashion on the left and right, three on each side. The "detention center" (what I heard Watari call it) that was right now housing Misa Amane was behind me at the end of the hall. I was walking back to the front of the floor, by the elevator, to head back to my room.

The room was the same basic size as the cells, the difference was the floor tiles and wall panels were stainless white. It was a lot to take in from the dimmed hallway and into a bright cube. As I made the cot in the corner of the room, I thought about how surprising it was that I'd been able to sleep in here at all. The whole room was on a timer that dimmed at 8 pm and came back on full blast at 6 am every day and I didn't have the overwrite code to turn it off.

I walked across the hall to the only room without a door, inside was a tiny kitchen and a smaller bathroom adjacent. The kitchen had a fridge, a stove, and a single countertop for prep, while the bathroom was a little roomier and at least had a door for privacy. All the appliances were up to date and electric, even the shower. I had to enter a four-digit code on a small number pad to operate the thing.

I had decided to cook some instant noodles, missing my phone and laptop I was forced to leave with L. The wall-mounted phone rang and I picked it up to get greeted by Watari on the other line, and after a minute of small talk and orders, I hung up and left my lunch to cool.

Even though the days were still warm, the underground parking lot seemed a few degrees off. It was enough of a change to cause a shiver to slide down my spine. The headlights of an unmarked car magnified the shadow behind me as it got closer to where I stood. Matsuda and Aizawa climbed out, the heels of their shoes clacking the only sound. I was very surprised to see a cuffed and blindfolded Light Yagami being led over to me, especially since Watari didn't inform me who I was taking underground with me.

A tiny spark of unbridled excitement crackled inside me, but my many years of on-the-job experience kept it hidden. Did this mean the case is almost over? The thought of payout gave me the kick I needed. I got ahold of him, my left hand on the back of his shoulder while I used the fingerprint scanner for the elevator.

After sitting him down on an exact copy of my cot and giving back his sight and hearing, I kneeled to start removing his shoes to take along with me, a little unnecessary since I highly doubt Kira would hang himself, too egotistical.

"Watari told me I'd be housing a Kira suspect, but I didn't think it would be you."

Light didn't answer me, just kept his head down in silence.

"It's probably best you don't say anything, L has everything on this floor bugged. Though I won't lie, I would have liked the companionship."

I looked up and placed a generic smile on my face, knowing he could see through it like glass. I stood back up and sealed him inside his cage.

A few hours later, as I was washing the small load of dishes from lunch, when I heard the ding of the elevator out in the hallway. Since I wasn't expecting anyone and only a few people as of right now have their prints in Watari's database to use the scanner, I figured it was Watari. Though, when I heard my name called out I knew it wasn't.

"Miss. Petrillo?"

I peeked my head out, seeing who it was, and dried off quickly.

"Cheif Yagami," I looked for a long minute at the elevator doors, waiting for another surprise visitor.

Surely noticing my confusion about his appearance down here, He informed me of his self-insert imprisonment for the unseeable future. I never questioned it and I led him to a cell as far away from his son as possible.

Chief Yagami was on his way to becoming an ideal prisoner. The first few days he fought me on almost everything since I had orders to take "adequate" care of him, but now he hardly tries anymore. The stress of Light looking more guilty by the day is killing him slowly, so he had my sympathy.

The made-up movie of fatherly love playing in my head brought out thoughts of those two I'm always thinking of (the fact I was becoming a candle being burnt at both ends didn't help) that I'd started to imagine things I've asked myself before. Did one of them look like me? Were they thinking about me right now? All I've ever known as cold hard facts were that my twins were boys, L could blackout files and history but not my memories despite how hard he tried that night.

I'm sure it was easy to see I still carried mixed emotions for L.

Yelling brought me back to the present, quickly realizing I had walked myself from the Chief's cell to mine while thinking. I could tell who it was right away and rushed to them to see what could have happened. Light Yagami was in a heated debate about letting him out as he wasn't Kira and everything was a mistake.

"I can't do that. This was your idea Light, you made me promise not to let you out until I determined if you are Kira or not."

"I did say that but at that moment there was something wrong with me!"

"I do not believe that Kira had no awareness of his actions. I believe you are merely hiding the fact that you are Kira, Light Yagami."

The scene playing out in front of me kept me quiet throughout. The light hadn't said a word till now and was bargaining. It was the first time hearing about it myself, but I quickly came to the conclusion that Kira had to know what he was doing, Kira's reactions and challenges L offered up along the way here were too brilliant for blind reaction.

Light looked over at me, almost like he just finally noticed me. The lines under his eyes had softened quite a bit, making that part of him almost unrecognizable.

"Say something! He'll listen to you."

There wasn't anything for me to say on Light's behalf that L hasn't already observed from the cameras or my reports over the phone. So, I didn't say anything and just looked at the camera sitting in the corner, recording everything it sees.
