"Is this necessary, Ryuzaki?"

The jingling of the chains was the only thing filling the room as I was joined on the living room set with Chief Yagami and Aizawa, watching Watari finish up the fitting for both men.

"I'm not doing this because I want to, Light."

"Light is mine, I don't want to share him with you!" Misa chimed in like an overstimulated bird.

I kept a keen ear tuned into the rest of the conversation, but my mind went to how to help L when he had tied himself to Kira. Would an offense position or defense be better? with both Kiras being too close for comfort, I wasn't sure which action would be the best.

"Misa, don't be so difficult. Be grateful that you're allowed this much freedom as it is."

"Don't say that, Light! Don't you trust your lover?"

The silence from the others felt heavier as Light broke the news to Misa that everyone already knew: that their relationship was completely one-sided. This then turned into a series of simple questions offered up by L about her love at first sight with Light at Aoyama on the 22nd of May and her feelings on Kira, pretty much outing herself as the second Kira with her undying support for the first Kira.

Even offering up to Misa her bedroom for the time being didn't cool her down, mostly because L would be holding onto the key to its door. I could see that Aizawa sitting beside me was getting angry with all the foolishness happening around us. I moved my cup off the coffee table as Aizawa slammed his hands down to draw everyone's attention, yelling to vent.

"Give it a rest! It's the damn Kira case! Enough with the kissing and dating! Misa out!"

His words made up my mind, moving quickly to free my hands.

"Oh leave her alone."

I walked over to Misa's side, giving her a tight squeeze and feeling every male line of sight on my back.

I never felt the touch of her small hand on me, so I let her go and said with a friendly smirk on my lips.

"They're men, Misa, they don't understand a woman's complex emotions. Especially boys Light's age."

I watched the chaos from having to share her love fade down in her face, a smile shining back at me.

"I do, though. I understand."

"Yay! Maybe being under surveillance won't be so awful after all! Why aren't you going to be my manager?"

Looking over my left shoulder to see Matsuda flustered red. I felt bad for him.

"He's cute, and the youngest officer here. That'll play big with your fans. Everyone likes a pretty star but she also has a handsome manager. That's a win."

Misa pondered it over, finally agreeing with my line of logic. She invited me into her bedroom for a night of girl talk and I agreed as long as she went to her room now and got everything ready. She didn't even notice my hand on her back or my gentle push towards the door.

"Light, are you serious about Amane?"

"No, Ruzaki. It's all one-sided."

"Well, could you pretend to be?"

I walked over to the two chained men, crossing my arms over my chest. Light's soft sigh seemed much louder than it should have. I fought hard to control my eyes from rolling out of my head as Light explained that he could never use a woman's feelings to gain information, even if she was most likely the second Kira.

"He doesn't need to, just keep Misa in love with you and I'll worm my way in." I offered up.

The jingling of metal rang out as L placed a thumb to his bottom lip and walked over to an opened laptop, tapping away. It didn't take me too long to realize it was my computer he was using. He pulled up a picture of a high-rise building in what looked like downtown Toyko.

"I know everyone has been wondering about the hotel situation with how many people we have now, but I do believe this will accommodate everyone."

L explained that the building would be their new permanent headquarters, with its twenty-three floors above ground, two below, and a helicopter pad on the roof, we could house a lot more people if we needed to. With the extra space, we won't have to sleep on top of each other anymore.

None of this surprised me since it was the building I'd been staying in with Light and Misa for the last fifty days. Nonetheless, seeing it from a bird's eye view was still kinda amazing.

The whole vibe of the group as a whole changed into one of renewed optimism. It was like a breath of fresh air in my dying lungs, and I missed having room for my things.

A throat clearing brought everyone's attention to the doorway where Misa was standing with a pink box in her hand and clothes in the other.

"Violet! I went through your rolling suitcase and didn't find any sleepwear, so you can borrow something of mine!"

She tossed them over to me, a pair of black short shorts and a tank top. I felt a burning mask of embarrassment at the thought of wearing such items, the shortest thing id ever worn was a pencil skirt for work. The realization that I was holding these things in front of all of my male colleagues caused this twenty-eight-year-old to run a fever.

"I'm coming…"

I wondered softly what I had gotten myself into.
