I have always enjoyed my time in Japan.

Even though every time had been for work, I got to explore different Prefectures and this time I ended up in Ishikawa's capital city Kanazawa. The place has some things in common with the cities I've seen in the Kanto Prefecture, but it truly stands out. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to visit the Kanazawa castle ruins, but tonight I will be spending my time on the shipping docks.

The wind was mostly still, it gave a few light puffs against the sea sending a chill across my bare face. The mussels twitched in reaction as I was stuck waiting at the meeting point.

A solid black car pulled up behind my rental, a man slid out of the driver's side and just by the sight of his irezumi tattoos and neatly pressed black suit I was about to deal with the Yakuza.

Damnit, Mello, what were you thinking?

Clones of the driver come out of the passenger and back seats and the thought of a clown car popped up in my head. Out of respect, I kept my eyes on their leader but took note of their weapons.

We stood there and talked about the agreement, stepping up some rules. I found myself leaning on the hood of my car, trying to hold back the hint of a smirk from my lips as I noticed the look of questionable astonishment with my understanding of most of his slang (thanks to the bit of reading I did on the airplane).

He wanted half up front, the other half on the night of transporting. Which was the normal setup for things like this, I warned him that I needed to reach into my pockets so no one thought I was reaching for a weapon, though I was carrying. With a swift nod, I pulled out a white envelope and handed it to the man.

I couldn't help but notice his gelled hair never moved.

He pulled out the banknotes, counting the five thousand yen bills twice before deciding it was sufficient enough.

"That's fifty thousand like we talked about." He didn't talk to me personally, but still.

He looked at me, I could see the wonder of what kind of thing could a foreigner like me need the services of the Yakuza, but it was none of his business. Instead, he handed me a card with a date on it for three days from now at one in the morning.

Those three days went by quickly, mostly because I spent them following Sayu Yagami around. She seemed to be enjoying her youth and the freedom that came with college, going to school then after out with friends. With nothing out of the ordinary, it seemed almost unnatural that she was related to Light at all.

This day, I assumed, was a late day of classes at Kanazawa University, because Sayu didn't leave home until close to noon. Like usual, I followed a train cart behind as she traveled from her home in the Kanto Prefecture, thankful for all the training and work for L over the years that made this feel like a walk in the park.

I spent the day waiting around the park around the college, pretending to read the book I brought as a prop then walking behind as Sayu Yagami with a handful of friends walked around different shopping districts for the rest of the day.

Luckily for me, the cafe the group of young people decided on just happened to be across the street from my hotel. I sighed a little, happy I didn't have to figure out on a whim how to get her to my car without everyone noticing. I bought myself a cup of hot green tea and took a table in the corner of the room so I could scan the room from the pages of my book.

A glance at my watch told me it was almost time to make my move, one last look around to see only the staff, Sayu and I were in the building. I waited until we were outside to approach her, asking in broken Japanese where the subway station was. Her smile was kind and for a small amount of time, I had to choke back bile crawling up my throat. She explained that the closest one was only a few blocks away, as I pulled out a capped syringe filled from my coat pocket to push into her jugular vein to get the poison moving throughout her body quicker.

I grabbed onto her quickly, leaning her right arm around my neck and over my shoulder to help distribute some of the dead weight after she passed out. Grabbing ahold of her purse, I begin to walk both of us to my car.

"Oh, Sayu, I told you not to order that last round!"

I said out loud, just in case my actions caught the attention of a random bystander. I unlocked the backseat of the car I was renting to lay her down carefully. Once behind the driver's seat, I pulled her purse into my lap to dig through it, stealing her cute cell phone. I needed to get going as I had close to an hour's drive to the meeting point.

I rolled the window down to throw her phone out as I drove away to put her inside a crate to be shipped to Los Angeles.
