It was the week before a very important holiday that this happened.

"Uh…Rei-san?"

"Hm? What is it, Kaito-kun?"

"Well…um…" Kaito twiddles his fingers, not knowing how to say this. It's embarrassing enough as it is!

Seeing his little one's embarrassed and slightly flushed face. "...it's OK," Furuya pats Kaito's head, "Just say it. I promise I won't get mad or laugh at you."

Kaito makes a noise and shyly nods before getting up the courage and asking, "Rei-san, no one has explained Valentine's Day to me. Could you explain it to me?"

Furuya's mind had paused, frozen as he processed what Kaito just asked. Once he finished processing, he facepalms, "...you… you really don't know?"

"All I know is that I can get chocolate out of it," Kaito comments.

'Of course all you would care about is the chocolate…' Furuya cringes, "And no one has explained this to you?"

Kaito shakes his head.

Sighing, Furuya takes a moment to collect his thoughts…and think about how to properly explain this to this innocent child. At least he is innocent when it comes to romance.

"Valentine's Day is an international holiday to celebrate love," he starts.

"Love…" Kaito stares at him, paying extra attention.

"Yeah. Love," Furuya wryly smiles as he continues, "Typically in Japan, women give chocolate to the men they like. There are two types of chocolate. Giri-choco is an obligatory chocolate, mostly given to family and friends. And honmei-choco is given to romantic interests and partners."

Kaito nods, "Un."

"...if you don't know about Valentine's Day, I doubt you know about White Day, so I'll explain that to you as well," Furuya sighs again.

Tilting his head to the side, Kaito hums, "Yeah. Please explain it to me, Furuya-sensei."

His brow twitches at being called "sensei" but keeps it together as he explains, "White Day is the month after Valentine's Day. It's the day where men reciprocate Valentine's Day gifts and chocolate. Usually three-fold."

"Eh?" Kaito blinks in surprise, "Three-fold?"

"Three-fold," Furuya nods, "Understand now?"

Kaito grumbles, "...yeah. Thanks for explaining it to me."

"No problem," Furuya smiles.

A week later…

"Coo!" Two doves came by and delivered a package to Amuro. It was a box of dark chocolate bourbon cherries.

Amuro smiles, thanking the doves as they fly off. He glances at the note attached to the box.

It read: Good luck at your work! Don't be reckless! - K

Shaking his head, Amuro just pockets the box of chocolates, wanting to eat them as soon as he gets home…and plotting his retaliation for White Day.

Omake:

White Day…

Kaito comes to the safehouse…only to find a whole flock of chocolate doves on a table.

He gapes in surprise. 'They're almost too cute to eat!' Kaito, not willing to eat the chocolate just yet, finds a note.

It read: You did a good job at work. Here's your reward for that and for last month. - 0

P.S. Please eat them. I know they're too cute to eat, but I worked hard to make them. I would appreciate it if you did.

Now faced with Rei-san's potential disappointment, Kaito had no choice. He carefully snaps off a wing before closing his eyes and putting it in his mouth.

"MM~~!" Kaito moans happily as the sweet chocolate flavor seeps onto his taste buds. Sweet, milk chocolate.

Getting bold, Kaito then bites the head off the chocolate dove, and finds that it's hollow with a cherry inside. The juice seeps out, coating the chocolate and his fingers.

He eats the chocolate dove whole, humming happily at the taste.

Eating another dove, he finds this one was stuffed with caramel. The next one was mocha, then chocolate mousse, mint, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, matcha, etc. Basically, a whole array of flavors!

This made Kaito very happy…and Furuya certainly paid him back three-fold.
