Chapter 1
A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away…
Luke Skywalker has vanished. In his absence, the sinister FIRST ORDER has risen from the ashes of the Empire and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has been destroyed. With the support of the REPUBLIC, General Leia Organa leads a brave RESISTANCE. She is desperate to find her brother Luke and gain his help in restoring peace and justice to the galaxy. Leia has sent her most daring pilot on a secret mission to Jakku, where an old ally has discovered a clue to Luke's whereabouts...Little did the Resistance know…Luke was not their only hope.
Jakku was a planet full of nothing but sand and ruins of the Empire. Scavengers covered the planet trying to get by with what little they could find in the heat. The nights often became cool and sometimes were cold enough to chill a person's bones. This was one of those nights on the desert planet especially as a young woman with startling blonde hair that seemed to not fit in with the darkness around her. She was walking towards a village with a basket of fruits that she had learned would thrive on the planet with little to no water needed to grow. She looked up at the dark sky that glittered with stars as she thought she sensed a darkness suddenly enter the planet's atmosphere causing a frown to cross her lips. She swallowed thickly and pulled out a small scoping device to look at the village she typically traded with. The young woman didn't know what to think as she saw an X-Wing on the outskirts of the village causing the unsettling feeling in her gut to grow larger. Something was going on, and she had a horrid feeling that a lot of people were going to die. She looked at her surroundings and found a large sand dune that she could hide behind and froze seeing a BB unit rolling towards the main hut of the village. The young woman turns to the sky and hides behind the sand dune as she hears ships land on the sand. The blonde woman pulls her black scarf over her hair and half of her face as she made herself blend in more in the darkness. She put her device back to her eye watching in horror as she recognized the symbol of the First Order. The basket of fruit dropped to the sand as the young woman saw Stormtroopers fire on all the huts and people of the peaceful village.
She watches as a man and the BB unit run towards the X-Wing, which she now realized belonged to the Resistance. The young woman closed her eyes as she felt the sudden darkness return. A soft whimper escaped her lips as she recognized the darkness that now settled on the village that was being destroyed. Her eyes snapped open, but her vision was blurry because of the tears that threatened to spill over. She had not felt this darkness in years, and she hoped that she never had to feel it again. The blonde woman scrambled to her feet and began rushing back towards her speeder. She needed to get back to her home and hide away for the rest of her life. She had to hide from him because she knew that he still had some kind of hold over her even though she had tried all these years to push every memory of him away. The woman closed her eyes again as she sped through the desert hearing the screams and blaster shots in her ears. After all these years why did he have to show up.
-In the Village-
A man wearing all black with a billowing cloak and a mechanized mask slowly walked down the ramp of his shuttle towards the leader of the village that he had tracked the map of Luke Skywalker to. The man froze mid step as he felt a presence behind him. He turned around slightly and seemed to stare into the ship when he was in fact trying to focus on the presence that he had felt. He swallowed thickly under his mask as he recognized the presence and tried to reach out to it for a moment before he gave a dark growl as he hit a metaphorical wall and turned back towards the obviously enraged leader of the village. A smirk graced his lips underneath his mask. "Look how old you've become," he said his true voice contorted by his mask.
"Something far worse has happened to you," the village leader snapped as he struggled against the hold of the stormtroopers that had a grip on him.
The black clad man straightened slightly as he watched the village leader. "You know what I've come for," was all he said.
The village leader glared at him. "I know where you come from. Before you called yourself Kylo Ren," the leader snapped looking the man up and down. The leader was trying his very best to stall for time so that Poe could escape and get the map back to the Resistance.
The man – now identified as Kylo Ren – tilted his head ever so slightly. "The map to Skywalker. We know you have found it, and now you are going to give it the First Order," Kylo said with finality.
Poe kneeled down and froze going wide eyed as he watched Kylo and San Tekka interact. He cursed softly and swallowed thickly. There was no way he was going to let Kylo get away with any of this, but his ship was damaged and now, he had no way to get off this damn desert planet.
The village leader – now identified as San Tekka – held his head high as he watched Kylo Ren for a long moment. "The First Order rose from the dark side…you did not." He knew who Kylo Ren was under the mask and knew who his family was as well.
Kylo frowned under his mask feeling rage begin to course through his veins. "I'll show you the dark side."
Lor San Tekka was silent before speaking again. "You may try, but you cannot deny the truth that is your family!" he exclaimed.
Kylo growled softly as he raised the hilt of his lightsaber and ignited it showing the odd shape that it was with two small blades perpendicular to the main blade. The biggest oddity was that the entirety of all three blades were crackling and sizzling unlike any other red lightsabers in times past. The only way this was possible was that the kyber crystal that laid inside of the hilt was cracked. "You're so right," Kylo said before swinging the saber down once across Lor San Tekka's chest killing the leader immediately. He turned as he heard yelling and narrowed his eyes under his mask seeing a different man.
Poe growled and shot up shooting at Kylo and the stormtroopers as he began running. He paled as he saw Kylo bring his hand up and make on of his blaster shots freeze mid air just as he lost the use of his body. Kylo had frozen him with the Force. He swallowed as two stormtroopers grabbed his arms and brought him past his frozen blaster shot towards Kylo Ren. He was silent for a moment before grunting in pain as a stormtrooper kicked out his knees making him fall to the ground.
Kylo kneeled to Poe's level for a long moment saying nothing.
"So who talks first? You talk first?" Poe quipped using his charismatic charm to try and get out of this situation.
Kylo continued to study the pilot. "The old man gave it to you."
Poe motioned to Kylo's helmet. "It's just very hard to understand you with all the…"
Kylo rose to his feet frowning under his mask. He was tired of dealing with the resistance scum before him. "Search him," he ordered the troopers holding him.
"…Apparatus," Poe finishes as he is brutally patted down by a stormtrooper who ended finding nothing on him causing Poe to glare for a moment before it falls.
One of the stormtroopers looks back at Kylo Ren. "Nothing, sir," he says informing Kylo of the results of the search.
Kylo scoffed slightly under his mask and turned away from the pilot. "Put him on board," he said. He paused in his movements towards the silver clad stormtrooper feeling the same presence he had when he had arrived. He frowned under his mask and tried yet again to reach out. However, the results were the same as last time…he hit a wall. He tilted his head slightly feeling something different this time. It was almost as if the presence was trying to confirm who he was without contacting him directly. He pushed the feeling away and finished walking towards the silver clad stormtrooper, Captain Phasma. He glanced at her as she spoke.
"Sir, the villagers?" she asked as the rest of the villagers were rounded up by the stormtroopers.
"Kill them all," Kylo ordered as he walked towards his ship while Phasma gave the order for the stormtroopers to kill the villagers. He frowned as if sensing hesitation from one of the stormtroopers and doesn't think anything of it as he watches the pilot getting pulled into his ship. Kylo felt the hesitation again and turned to see a stormtrooper hesitating to fire his weapon. Kylo tilted his head slightly before turning to stare at the trooper for a long moment knowing what was happening in the trooper's mind. He could feel the conflict inside of the trooper. Kylo smirked under his mask as he walked past the trooper causing the frozen blaster shot to unfreeze and hit the pilot's X-Wing causing the frozen stormtrooper to jump.
-With the Woman-
The young woman tore through her small home as tears streamed down her cheeks as she was assaulted by memories, she had tried so hard to push away. She whimpered softly closing her eyes as she tried to push everything she was now feeling away from her. The blonde woman opened her eyes after a long moment showing hazel eyes that were red from crying. She rushed to the small closet she had and quickly began throwing necessities into the bag. She had to get off this blasted plane and she knew how she would do it. The young woman froze as she heard soft whispers. She turned and faced her bed, but the whispers were coming from something that was underneath the bed…something she had sworn she would never use again. The blonde woman fell to her knees as she reached under the bed pulling out a large wooden box. She let out a shaky breath as she opened the box revealing a long, sleek, silver hilt that had thin, gold designs wrapped around the entire hilt. This hilt had been special to her once as she – unlike any of her now deceased peers – had bonded with two special crystals. She lifted the hilt slowly from the box as the whispers became louder.
"Cecilia," a whispering voice that stood out amongst the rest said.
Cecilia inhaled slowly as her tears began anew. Why would he reach out to her now? Why her? Why not him? He had been the one to turn…not her. "No," she whispered back.
"Cecilia," the voice said. This time the voice was louder almost as if it was next to her.
"No!" she exclaimed loudly. "I can't do that again! I can't."
"You know what you have to do," the voice said from next to Cecilia.
Cecilia looked to her right seeing someone whom she hadn't seen since she had been training under Luke Skywalker. "I don't want to do it," she whispered softly.
"You have to," the voice said as they placed a hand on Cecilia's shoulder. "You are one of the only ones who can help change the course of events from how they were originally supposed to play out. You saw the visions, Cecilia."
Cecilia frowned at the figure in front of her and sighed heavily before looking down at the hilt in her hands. She placed both hands on the hilt and twisted it separating it into two smaller hilts. She held each hilt in each of her hands and moved her thumbs igniting both sabers. One blade was a beautiful sea green while the other was a bright orange blade. Her second saber had originally been yellow, but that night 6 years ago, her yellow saber bled bright red as she gave into her anguish at the thought of losing her peers…her uncle…her parents…her younger brother. For two years, she wandered deep space trying everything to heal her now red crystal only for it to evolve into an orange crystal. Cecilia frowned and deactivated her sabers before looking to her right again. A sigh escaped her throat as she saw the figure had vanished from sight. Cecilia went to the large chest on the opposite side of the room and opened it showing neatly folded clothes that resembled that of Jedi robes. She knew what she had to do…she just wasn't sure if she had the strength to do it.
