A/N: Hello everyone! Long time no see!
I know it's been a while since the last entry to this series, but thanks to a certain Kryptonian and Saiyan having another go at each other, I felt inspired to bring this series back!
I'll keep this note brief because I know y'all would like to get back into it, so without further ado, enjoy!
Last time on Sympho-Ball
With a successful test run of the Phonic Ki Drive-Gear, Kanade was back as a Wielder for Section Two, and better than she was before!
During her self-initiated test run of her new weapon, however, Kanade and the rest of Section Two were introduced to Hibiki Tachibana: A girl from Lydian who mysteriously had access to Gungnir as well.
But that mystery would soon be answered as the group would discover that Hibiki was the survivor of the infamous Zwei Wing concert tragedy two years ago, a discovery that greatly affected the elder Gungnir Wielder, Kanade Amou.
But Section Two wasn't the only group intrigued by this discovery. A mysterious woman was interested in Hibiki's potential, even if her subordinate didn't see anything special about her, a sentiment shared by Tsubasa.
Despite this, Goku and Kanade have faith that Hibiki can rise to the challenge she willingly put herself up for.
A challenge that shall present itself, now.
Hibiki Tachibana's Rough Beginnings! A New Threat appears?!
Section Two HQ
Weeks after joining Section Two, Hibiki joined the fight against the Noise with Tsubasa and Kanade (As well as Goku during the weeks Kanade was suspended from Wielder duties). However, while she didn't have much to worry about with the others doing most of the work, Hibiki was still having troubles as a Wielder. Goku and Kanade did what they could to help her when they were close, but Tsubasa was not as willing to help the rookie, still not trusting the new Gungnir Wielder. As for those who did trust her, after a training session between missions, Kanade and Goku discussed Hibiki's progress, or rather, her struggles to keep up.
"Seems like Hibiki's been improving. Wouldn't you agree?" Kanade asks.
"Somewhat..." Goku says. "To give credit where credit's due, she's at least not startled when confronting Noise and does her best to attack them rather than run away."
"Could be worse: She could be forced to learn how to fight by herself and not with tips and tricks from a martial artist and someone else who has Gungnir." Kanade chuckles. "That being said, I'm a little concerned she hasn't been able to bring out her armed gear yet."
"True, it is weird how she hasn't been able to do that..." Goku thought aloud. "Maybe her Gungnir works differently?"
Kanade looked at Goku with stupefied confusion when he said that. "You do realize this is Gungnir we're talking about, right?" She asks. "Why wouldn't she have the ability to summon a spear?"
Goku shrugs. "It's just a theory. I just feel like, if she had a spear like you do, it would've found a way to show up by now." He says. "Regardless, if she does have a spear and it just hasn't manifested yet, I feel like it's better for her to work on hand-to-hand combat just so she has a means to stay alive out there."
"Fair enough, I guess..." Kanade replies, before she gets an idea. "If working on her hand-to-hand is the best bet, why not show her the ropes?"
Goku raised an eyebrow at Kanade before bursting out into laughter. "Me? A teacher? Please..."
"I'm serious, Goku!" Kanade affirms. "You could be a really great teacher if you tried. I mean, just from our sparring sessions, I feel like I've improved plenty compared to what I learned from him."
ACHOO!
On his personal island, Roshi let out a huge sneeze that startled Krillin and Turtle. "You feelin' alright, Roshi?" Krillin asks.
"I'm fine." Roshi replies. "Must've been something in the air is all..."
Goku chuckles nervously after Kanade said that. "Yeah, I get that Master Roshi can be a bit... weird... But I still think that-"
Without hesitation, Kanade activates her PKD-Gear and stares down Goku with a rage unlike anything he's seen from the Gungnir Wielder. "Goku, I may be your friend, and your dad may be my boss, but if you even for a moment suggest having that man train Hibiki..." Kanade stops to point the laser-spear at Goku. "You will live to regret it."
"Okay! Okay! I won't get Roshi involved!" Goku says, receiving the message loud and clear, which made Kanade deactivate her PKD-Gear. "Well, if Roshi's off the table, then I'd say the only options are either Dad or me..."
"Didn't Boss teach you the basics of fighting?" Kanade asks.
"That and then some." Goku answers. "Why do you ask?"
"Well, why not start with what he taught you?" Kanade suggests.
It was now Goku's turn to look at Kanade with stupefied confusion. "You are aware as to how he trains, aren't you?"
"And do you not see how well that's worked for the both of you?" Kanade asks. "Unless you've got a better idea as to how she should train, without contacting that pervert, Boss' training regimen's your best bet."
"You've got a good point." Goku agrees. "I'll suggest it to her tomorrow, but for now, we should just-"
Before he could say anything else, the alarms went off in Section Two, taking the duo by surprise, but they knew what needed to be done. "...Head to the command center and see what's up. That's totally what I was about to say..."
Heading to the command center, Goku and Kanade met up with Tsubasa and entered the room. "What's the situation, Boss?" Kanade asks.
"We've got two sets of Noise on opposite sides of the city." Genjuro reports. "Hibiki-kun has already been given the coordinates to one of the hordes. I just need one of you to assist her while the others deal with the other horde."
"Tsubasa and I can handle the other horde, Boss." Kanade states.
"Works for me, too." Tsubasa adds.
"Well that settles that." Genjuro says, surprised by how fast the Zwei Wing duo volunteered. "I'll let Hibiki-kun know that you're on your way, Goku."
Goku was speechless, equally as surprised as his father by how fast that was decided, looking over at Kanade for an explanation. "Here's your chance to hand out your offer, Goku-sensei." Kanade teases, which made Goku sigh in annoyance towards Kanade.
Underground Subway Entrance
Flying to Hibiki's location, Goku saw the girl in her school uniform talking on the phone. He wasn't able to hear most of what she was saying on it, but he did hear the last few words of "Thank you. I'm sorry." Before she noticed him and hung up. "Hi, Goku-san."
"Heya, Hibiki-chan!" Goku says, greeting the younger Gungnir Wielder, before noticing her sorrowful expression. "Is everything alright?"
"Eh? Y-Yeah, I'm fine..." Hibiki says. "I just had to let my friend know I wouldn't be able to see the shooting stars with her..."
"I see..." Goku says, before coming up with an idea to help cheer her up. "Tell ya what, once we're done here, I can give you a lift to your friend so you can still see the shooting stars! Tsubasa, Kanade, and I can worry about all the extra stuff."
"Really?" Hibiki asks, her eyes lighting up with hope.
"Of course!" Goku answers, happy to see his idea cheered her up a bit. "Now let's show these Noise who's boss!"
"Gladly!" Hibiki replies as she pulls out her pendant while Goku activates his Phonic Ki Drive.
"Balwisyall nescell Gungnir tron"
Now transformed into their respective armaments, Goku and Hibiki charged at the Noise, dealing with the ones on the stairs with ease as they descended down towards the rest in the subway. "One of the signals down there is bigger than the rest of them." Genjuro reports over their communicators. "Don't do anything reckless."
"Heard loud and clear, sir!" Goku replies, before himself and Hibiki come face to face with the Noise giving off said signal. "Well, it's been a while since one of these showed up."
"What is that one, Goku-san?" Hibiki asks.
"Let's just say, if they don't have those pink orbs on their back, it will be troublesome." Goku explains. "Just keep your distance and deal with the Noise around them first."
"Got it!" Hibiki replies as the duo continue their charge, dealing with the lesser Noise before moving to the big purple one. However, choosing to deal with the lesser Noise before them proved to be the wrong move. While they dealt with the other Noise, the big one let loose some of its orbs, exploding on contact with the ground and causing the subway station to shake. While Goku didn't worry too much about the shaking, Hibiki saw the ceiling caving in above Goku and rushed over to him. "Goku-san! Watch out!"
Confused, Goku watched as Hibiki pushed him aside and out of the way of falling debris that crushed the Gungnir Wielder. "Hibiki-chan!" Goku shouts, trying to see through the dust if Hibiki was alright, only to see the pile of rubble above her, which made him worry. "Crap... Kanade's going to kill me..."
"I wanted to see them..."
Goku heard a voice from beneath the rubble, trying to look for any sign of Hibiki. But before he could get closer, the rubble exploded as Hibiki shot out from under it and towards the horde of Noise. "I wanted to see the shooting stars!" Hibiki screams as she tore the Noise limb from limb. "I wanted to see them with Miku!"
Goku was left speechless as she tore through the Noise. Was this the same girl who only just gained the confidence to stare down the Noise less than a week ago? "She's got some serious potential in her after all!" Goku thought as he watched Hibiki roar after clearing out the Noise. Before he could applaud Hibiki's strength, she suddenly ran off in the direction of the purple Noise, which turned his amusement into shock. "Hey, wait up, Hibiki-chan!"
Hibiki chased the Noise down to the subway tunnel, her eyes alight with rage as she continued her pursuit. "How dare you... How dare you make me break my promise!" Hibiki shouts, making a crater in the wall as she slammed her fist into it. "You made me lie... You took away my peaceful world... My calm, everyday life... You took it away from me! And now you'll pay!"
Catching up with Hibiki, Goku bore witness to Hibiki brutally slaughtering the Noise like a wild animal. Having seen enough, Goku rushed in after she took care of the last Noise in her hands and grabbed her gauntlets to hold her in place. "Snap out of it Hibiki-chan!" He shouts, staring down her darkened face and glowing red eyes as they slowly return to normal. However, as that happened, he saw the purple Noise shoot more pink orbs at them, forcing him to spin Hibiki behind him as he shot a ki blast to neutralize the explosion. Once the dust from the orbs' explosion cleared, he saw the purple Noise create a hole in the tunnel in order to escape to the surface, scoffing as it jumped. "It's getting away..."
"Goku-san?" Hibiki asks, returning to her senses.
"Are you alright, Hibiki-chan?" Goku asks. "That was an impressive show of strength back there! Have you been training in your free time?"
"Not really, no." Hibiki answers. "To be honest, I don't know what came over me there."
Goku was surprised to hear that, but instead of pressing further, he turned his attention back to the last Noise. "Well, we better hurry and catch that last Noise so we can get you back home before it's too late." He says. "Hop on my back."
"Okay." Hibiki replies, doing as Goku requests before he jumps out of the subway tunnel and back above ground.
City Park
Above the park, Goku and Hibiki search for the Noise, hoping it doesn't get too far. "There it is!" Hibiki says, pointing to the retreating purple Noise.
"I got 'em." Goku replies, holding out his hand as he aims a ki blast at the Noise. Before he could fire it, however, a blue beam of light came flying by and sliced it in two. Moments later, Kanade and Tsubasa arrived and met Hibiki and Goku on the ground, the younger Gungnir Wielder getting off the Martial Artist's back. "Thanks for the assist, Tsubasa!"
"Don't mention it." Tsubasa replies. "I take it that was the last of them?"
"Sure was!" Goku answers. "Thanks to Hibiki-chan here, they were done and gone in seconds!"
"Oh? Is that right?" Kanade asks.
"Yeah!" Goku chuckles. "You should've seen it, you guys! It was unlike anything I've seen before! Well, I mean I've seen a lot in my travels, but you kinda get what I mean, yeah?"
While Kanade was honestly impressed by Goku's praises of Hibiki, Tsubasa remained neutral, a sight that Hibiki was sad to see. However, Kanade wasn't the only one impressed by Hibiki's results.
"So, that runt actually does have something special to her, eh?"
Hearing the new voice, everyone put up their guard and turned to face the silhouette that emerged from the forest. However, once the newcomer was in the light of the moon, Kanade, Tsubasa, and Goku all looked at them with eyes wide open. "That's..."
"The Armor of Nehushtan..." Tsubasa says, finishing Kanade's sentence.
"Oh, so you know what this armor is?" The newcomer taunts.
"A lot of people died the day we tried activating it, so yeah, we know it all too well." Goku answers.
"The real question is why the hell do you have it?" Kanade adds, summoning her spear and readying herself for a fight, Goku and Tsubasa doing the same with their weapons.
"I would tell you, but I'd honestly rather beat you three senseless." The newcomer chuckles as she cracked her whips.
"Wait! Stop, guys!" Hibiki shouts, getting in-between the trio and the stranger. "This isn't a Noise! This is a human being! You can't really be considering-"
"This is a battlefield! What's wrong with you?!" Tsubasa and the stranger shout at Hibiki in unison, surprised they both had the same reaction.
"Something tells me we'll get along just fine." Tsubasa says with a smile.
"Then how about I play with you first?" The stranger suggests as she shoots her whips out at the other three, forcing Kanade to dodge while Goku grabs Hibiki and jumps out of the way.
With them out of the way, Tsubasa jumps into the air and creates another Blue Flash and shoots it right at the stranger. However, with little effort, the stranger deflects it with one of her whips, leaving everyone surprised. On top of that, after the Blue Flash was deflected, Tsubasa went for a frontal assault, only to be countered with ease and sent flying. "Is this the potential of a complete relic?" Tsubasa thought.
"Don't underestimate what the Nehushtan Armor's capable of." The stranger taunts. "And this is only a fraction of what it's capable of."
Now understanding what she was up against, Tsubasa switched to the defensive as the stranger continued her onslaught. However, the others weren't about to force Tsubasa to fight the stranger alone. "We're coming, Tsubasa!" Kanade shouts.
"Oh no you're not!" The stranger retorts, pulling out a new relic. "This is between me and the bluenette. You can deal with them while you wait your turn!"
Suddenly, green lights came out of the stranger's new relic, summoning a horde of Noise in the process. "Noise?!" Goku gasps.
"She's controlling them?!" Kanade adds.
"HELP!" Hibiki screams as she's surrounded and ensnared by four tall Noise that hold her in place with a web.
"You deal with the Noise, I've got Hibiki!" Kanade says, getting a nod from Goku as he deals with the Noise.
As this happened, Tsubasa took advantage of the stranger watching Hibiki get caught by lunging at her. "Were you so busy with them that you forgot I'm right here?"
Taken off guard, the stranger was put on the defensive, but it didn't take long for them to take the offensive back as she grabbed Tsubasa's leg and threw her. "Don't get cocky! I don't care how popular you are, they'll forget about you the second you leave the spotlight!" She says, stepping on her headset. "But since you seem to think you're the star of the show here, I'll let you in on a little secret: I'm not here for you, your partner, or the guy. I'm here to kidnap her."
The stranger points at Hibiki just as Kanade saves her from the snare. "What do you want with Hibiki?" Kanade asks.
"Like I'd tell you!" The stranger answers with a scoff. "You should be grateful I told you that much.
"More than you'd think!" Goku retorts, appearing behind the stranger and kicking her off of Tsubasa. "If she's after Hibiki-chan, then we'll just get her away from the battlefield!"
"I'll stay here and help Tsubasa fight this chick." Kanade says. "You'd be able to get her out of here faster anyways, Goku."
"That's the plan at least." Goku replies, taking Hibiki into his arms from Kanade as he looks to the sky.
"Nimbus!"
Saying this, a yellow cloud appeared beside Goku, allowing him to stand on it. "Hang on tight, Hibiki-chan." Goku says.
"O-Okay..." Hibiki replies, not sure what was going to happen. "Why do I need to hang oOOOOOOOONNNNNN!"
Without warning, the cloud took off at breakneck speeds and the duo were gone from sight the moment the stranger returned to the scene. "Where the hell did that bastard go?!" The stranger asks, infuriated by the surprise attack.
"Like we'd tell you." Kanade answers, mocking the stranger's answer to her question earlier. "For now, it's time we taught you not to mess with Zwei Wing! Right, Tsubasa?"
With a smile on her face, Tsubasa readied her sword as she stood beside Kanade. "Right!"
Lydian Dorms
Quickly leaving the battlefield, Goku and Hibiki arrived outside of Lydian. After the shock of the travel wore off on Hibiki, she quickly deactivated her Gear as the duo got onto the ground. "Now that her plan's foiled, you should go meet up with your friend." Goku says. "You might still have time to see the shooting stars."
"I mean, yeah, but what about Tsubasa-san and Kanade-san?" Hibiki asks.
"I wouldn't worry too much about them. Together, they're unstoppable." Goku says. "And once I join the battle, that lady won't know what hit her!"
"If you say so, Goku-san..." Hibiki replies hesitantly. "Well, good night, and good luck!"
"Same to you, Hibiki-chan!" Goku says, giving Hibiki a thumbs up as she enters the building. Once she was inside, Goku hopped back on the Nimbus and flew back to the battlefield. "Now then, to retrieve that armor."
As Goku escorted Hibiki back to Lydian, the Zwei Wing duo dominated the stranger, giving her little room to breathe, even when she was on the offensive. Eventually, she got frustrated and summoned a massive horde of Noise to distract the duo. While they were dealing with the Noise, she jumped into the air and manifested a massive ball of black and white energy that lit up the entire park. "I don't care how strong you stupid idols are! Once this touches the ground, you'll be nothing more than a memory!"
NIRVANA GEDON
Shouting this, the stranger launched the ball down towards Kanade while she was distracted with the Noise. Fortunately, Tsubasa saw the ball heading for her and shoulder checked her out of the way, taking the full blast while Kanade watched helplessly.
"TSUBASA!"
The park was engulfed in smoke as the ball exploded, eviscerating all of the grass, blowing over and charring most of the nearby trees, and destroying all of the Noise the stranger summoned.
In the command center, all the agents of Section Two could see was a white flash, which filled them with dread, seeing the last thing they could hear was Kanade screaming Tsubasa's name. "This isn't good..." Ryoko states.
Without hesitation, Genjuro contacted Goku. "Son, you need to get back over to the battlefield, now!"
"I'm heading back as fast as I can!" Goku replies. "The shockwave from whatever caused that is making it hard to see anything, though!"
Gritting his teeth, Genjuro got up from his seat and ran for the exit to Section Two. "Ryoko-kun, with me!" He says. "They're going to need medical attention, so we need to prepare the hospital for their arrival ASAP."
"Roger that, Genji!" Ryoko replies, following him out of Section Two.
Back on the battlefield, once the light dissipated, Kanade looked at the destruction in horror, trying to find her partner as the dust settled. Once it settled, she saw Tsubasa sitting in a ditch, unconscious. "Tsubasa!" Kanade screams as she rushes over to her friend, checking to make sure she was still alive, breathing a sigh of relief when she felt a pulse. But with that relieved sigh also came unfathomable rage for the one who harmed Tsubasa. "You... bitch..."
"Well, that was a little over the top, I'll admit. But at least it got the job done." The stranger says nonchalantly. "Now then, to finish you o- Huh?" As she went to walk towards Kanade, she felt her body unable to move. Trying to figure out why, she looked behind her and saw a single dagger planted on the ground where her shadow was.
Shadow Weaving
"The other one paralyzed me before my attack? Of all the-" The stranger looked back at the duo, seeing the soul melting rage in Kanade's eyes as her aura began to flare up. "Oh no..."
At the same time, Goku returned to the battlefield, seeing Tsubasa unconscious. "Tsubasa!"
"She's just unconscious, Goku." Kanade says, not taking her eyes off of the stranger. "Do me a favor and get her a safe distance away from here, yeah?"
Concerned by her request, Goku immediately caught on to what she was going to do. "Kanade, you do realize if that doesn't work, you'll be weakened and unable to do anything, right?" Goku asks.
"Better than my chances with a normal Superb Song, so I'll take it." Kanade answers.
"Kanade, we can still deal with her together. You don't have to-" Goku was silenced by a furious side eye that showed how made up Kanade's mind was, which made him pick up Tsubasa and start flying away. "Alright, I hear you loud and clear. Still, be careful."
"My wellbeing won't be the one you should worry about in a couple seconds." Kanade says with a sinister grin. Once he was gone, Kanade cracked her knuckles and walked towards the stranger. "Now then, you think it's chill to just drop mini nukes on people and not expect some form of payback?"
The stranger chuckles nervously. "Well, when you put it like that..."
"Rhetorical question!" Kanade interjects. "Since you were willing to take advantage of me while my back was turned, it's time I returned the favor and show you what you put my partner through just now."
"What are you going to do?" The stranger asks. "Your Symphogear's nothing like the other two's, so there's no way you can use a Superb Song!"
"You're right, I can't perform a normal Superb Song with this thing." Kanade replies, grabbing the PKD-Gear pendant and squeezing it, causing her aura to flare up immensely as a melody plays behind it. As this happened, the stranger could see Kanade doing her best to not show how much pain she was in. "But... It has something much more efficient for the job!"
Seeing this, the stranger began to try and struggle for freedom, but as they tried, Kanade channeled her power into her right hand, causing her whole arm to glow orange-red before forming into a massive flaming spear. "I told you that we would teach you not to mess with Zwei Wing, so now it's time to drill that lesson into your skull... The hard way!"
"You wouldn't dare!" The stranger begs, trying to call her bluff, which only made Kanade laugh.
"Here's the funny thing about that, pal..."
"I DARED!"
Without another word, Kanade thrusted her spear forward, creating a massive flaming tornado that engulfed the stranger, sending them flying as it burned the ground beneath them and filled the air with ashes.
BLAZING∞METEOR (Superb Variant)
Once the flames subsided, the stranger found themselves seriously injured in the middle of a lake. Thankfully for them, the Nehushtan Armor repaired itself, and with it, the injuries she received, albeit at a much slower, very painful rate. "I don't care if she's in a terrible state after that or not... I'm not sticking around to deal with the third one..." The stranger says as she picked herself up from the lake and stumbled away.
On the other end of the attack, Kanade kept her arm held out long after the attack finished. Having spent all of her energy in that one attack, she began to feel shaky as she reverted her transformation and eventually fell to the ground, gasping for air. "That... Was for... Tsubasa..." With that said, Kanade succumbed to her fatigue and passed out in the burning crater that used to be the city park, only faintly being able to hear Goku shout her name as she fell into a deep sleep.
Hospital
After arriving at the hospital with both unconscious Zwei Wing Wielders, Goku paced in the waiting room, volunteering to keep an eye on them for the night while Genjuro and Ryoko went to their homes to sleep. Suddenly, he heard footsteps running in his direction, hopeful that it was news for Kanade and Tsubasa's conditions, but much to his surprise, it was Hibiki, who was notably out of breath. "Hibiki-chan? What are you doing here?"
"Hah... Hah... I saw... You flying to the... Hospital... When I was with Miku." Hibiki answers, letting out a cough as she finally catches her breath. "I waited until she fell asleep to sneak over here. It probably would've been better to wait until tomorrow to get answers, but after abruptly leaving the battlefield, I needed to make sure you were all okay."
"Well, it's very much appreciated either way." Goku says with a smile, which quickly turned to a frown. "From what the doctors told us, neither of them suffered any major injuries, thankfully. I'm not entirely sure what happened to Tsubasa outside of a massive attack from that one armored lady knocking her unconscious, but Kanade used a Superb Phonic Ki Boost to send her flying, so she may be out for a bit longer than Tsubasa."
"'Superb Phonic Ki Boost'?" Hibiki asks.
"Right, Bulma and Ryoko-san haven't caught you up to speed on the stuff Kanade and I use to fight the Noise..." Goku says. "You know how Superb Songs work, yeah? More specifically, how dangerous they are?"
"Yeah. Kanade-san said to never use it unless it was absolutely necessary." Hibiki answers.
"Well think of the Superb Phonic Ki Boost kinda like that, but less fatal." Goku explains. "How it works is that it brings your phonic gain and ki to your absolute limit, letting you fight at your maximum for an extended period of time. That being said, depending on how much you use, the worst of the effects could range from massive fatigue, the equivalent of a concussion, or at the very worst, a minor coma."
"Kanade-san could be in a coma?!" Hibiki gasps.
"That's just one of the possible outcomes Ryoko-san warned us about." Goku quickly answers. "She's probably just exhausted from using more ki than her body was used to. A senzu should be more than enough to get her back to normal. That being said, I should swing by Korin's and pick up a few tomorrow."
"That's a relief..." Hibiki sighs, before a thought crosses her mind. "Hey, Goku-san?"
"Huh?" Goku replies.
"Do you... Think I'm just slowing everyone down?" Hibiki asks.
"What brought this up, Hibiki-chan?" Goku asks.
"Well, if I was stronger, then you wouldn't have needed to fly me away from the battlefield and Kanade-san and Tsubasa-san wouldn't be injured... That, and I feel like I've been a hindrance for you all the past couple of weeks..." Hibiki states. "I just wish I could get stronger so you all wouldn't need to keep an eye on me while you fight..."
Goku let out a sigh as Hibiki brought forth these concerns. "Hibiki-chan, I know Tsubasa's been giving you a hard time because of, well, the sudden circumstances that brought you to Section Two, but you are not at fault for being forced to learn how to fight with no prior training. And what happened to them tonight? Kanade would've made the same play even if you were as strong as she was. Call it guilt for what happened to you, call it being overprotective, she just wants what's best for you." Goku says. "And I mean, back in that subway, you showed me something amazing!"
"I did?" Hibiki asks.
"Yeah!" Goku chuckles. "You showed me, even if it was in a moment of uncontrolled rage, that you've got some serious potential inside of you. And with the right teacher, you can become crazy strong!"
Hibiki smiled nervously at the praise. "You're just saying that to make me feel better, aren't you?"
"I'm serious! You've got massive potential inside of you that's screaming to come out! Kanade believes it, and I've seen it!" Goku answers, before the idea Kanade gave him earlier that night resurfaced in his mind. "Tell you what: If you really wanna get stronger, come over to Dad and I's residence. I'd be more than willing to help you become stronger!"
Hearing Goku's offer, along with the praise of her performance in the subway, Hibiki thought about it and eventually nods once her mind was made up. "I have no idea where you guys live, but I'll gladly take you up on the offer if it means I can actually be useful to Section Two!"
"Excellent! I'll have an errand to run in the morning, but we can start tomorrow afternoon!" Goku says. "For now, you should head back home and get some sleep."
"Sure thing, Goku-san!" Hibiki replies with a salute as she runs off to return home.
"Oh, wait Hibiki-chan!" Goku shouts, but his shout fell on deaf ears as Hibiki was already long gone, which made him sigh in frustration at himself. "I'll just have to give her the heads up when she stops by tomorrow, then..."
Genjuro Kazanari's Residence
Flying through the sky on the Nimbus, Goku returned home after delivering a couple senzu beans to Tsubasa and Kanade, giving the doctors strict instructions on what to do once they wake up. At first, they looked at him like he was crazy, but considering they were dealing with Section Two's Commander's Son and two of the four people who are responsible for fighting the Noise, they weren't about to go against him.
As for his flight home, it wasn't anything to really note about for him, that is until he got home and saw Hibiki talking with Genjuro, which notably made him speed up. "You're early, Hibiki-chan!" Goku says as he descended. "Well, earlier than I expected, that is."
Hibiki chuckles nervously. "Yeah, I figured I might've been a little early... But I really wanted to learn how to fight, so I couldn't wait anymore!"
"I see, so that's why you're here, Hibiki-kun." Genjuro says. "In that case, care if I take the lead, Goku?"
"You sure, dad?" Goku asks. "I didn't want to trouble you if you were busy with work."
Genjuro laughs. "Please, like I wouldn't have spare time to kill on keeping myself in shape! Besides, I taught you a good chunk of what you know, so you can use this as a way to learn how to be a good teacher when she's mastered what I can show her."
"I guess that is fair. When it comes to teaching, I'm extremely lacking on the subject, Hehehe..." Goku chuckles. "Well, Hibiki-chan, would you be alright if Genjuro got you started?"
"Well, Genjuro-san did say that he taught you a lot, so if you became strong thanks to him, then I'll do it!" Hibiki answers.
"That being said, Hibiki-kun, and Goku knows this well: I'm a tough teacher, so you better be ready for an even tougher training regimen." Genjuro states with a serious tone of voice.
"I'm ready, sir!" Hibiki says, excited by the challenge.
"Hey, dad, I think there's something else you might want to add about your tough regimen..." Goku says anxiously.
"Oh yeah!" Genjuro replies, realizing what he forgot to mention. "Before we start, Hibiki-kun, what are your thoughts on action movies?"
Hibiki's excitement quickly turned to confusion, looking over at Goku who just gave a big grin and a thumbs up.
"Action movies?"
As Hibiki started her training with the Kazanari father and son, the elder Gungnir Wielder started to come to, with the first thing she saw being her partner Tsubasa, which helped wake her up faster. "Tsubasa! You're oka-OW!"
"Take it easy, Kanade." Tsubasa says, helping prop her upright. "But yeah, I'm better now. If anything, whatever Goku gave the doctors to give to us made me feel better than ever!"
"What are you talking about?" Kanade asks.
"Oh good, you're finally awake." A doctor said as they entered the room, pulling out a single green bean from their pocket. "Goku Kazanari told us to give this to you once you woke up. Considering the effect it had on your friend here, I think the results speak for themselves."
"A single- what even is that, a lima bean?" Kanade asks skeptically, looking over at Tsubasa who just nodded in agreement with the doctor. Still doubtful, Kanade took the bean and ate it. At first it just tasted like a normal bean, but before too long, she felt all of the strength in her body return, almost jumping out of the bed in surprise. "WOW! That was amazing!"
"Good to see Goku-san's beans worked for you both." The doctor said. "However, just because you both feel better, doesn't mean we can let you go just yet."
"What do you mean?" Kanade asks.
"Sure, you feel better, but we still have to make absolutely sure there aren't any other internal injuries that could end you back up here sooner than you'd like." The doctor stated. "You should be free to go tomorrow as long as we don't find anything serious."
"Tomorrow?!" Kanade groans in frustration. "But that's gonna be so boring!"
"It'll be fine, Kanade." Tsubasa says. "At least we're alive to be bored together, right?"
Kanade was surprised to hear Tsubasa say this, or rather, how she said it. "You seem cheerier than usual. I kinda like it." Kanade chuckles. "Did that blast change you or something?"
"No. But you did." Tsubasa confesses. "My memory's still a little hazy from the attack, but I do remember waking up after it to see you go all out. I wasn't sure if it was real, but when they said you were also here, it scared me into thinking you... You..."
"Hey, it's gonna take a lot more than that to kill me, Tsubasa." Kanade interjects.
"I know." Tsubasa says. "But in that moment, I also thought about how I've been acting, regarding you and Goku's faith in Tachibana. Admittedly, it was because she had Gungnir that I loathed her."
"Yeah, that wasn't exactly hard to see." Kanade says, rolling her eyes, which made Tsubasa pout. "Just saying."
"Regardless... When Goku said Tachibana was responsible for taking out most of the Noise in the subway last night, I saw just how selfish I was being." Tsubasa states. "So, from now on, I'll put more faith in Tachibana's abilities, and more so in your judgment."
"That's all I ask from you, Tsubasa." Kanade says with a smile. "That being said, we should probably call Boss and let them know we're okay."
Ring Ring
"Hello?" Goku asks, picking up the call.
"Heya, Goku! Thanks for the beans!" Kanade says.
"Oh, good! The senzus worked!" Goku cheers. "So you and Tsubasa are back to action, then?"
"Hehe... Not quite yet. Doc said they still need to check for internal injuries, then we'll be good to go." Kanade says. "I mean, I doubt much will happen in the next 24 hours, but I hope you and Hibiki can handle it while we're stuck here."
"I'm sure we'll be fine, especially since Hibiki's getting trained by dad now." Goku chuckles. "Speaking of, I better get back to them to make sure things are going well. I'll let him know you're both up and at 'em! See you soon!"
"See ya!" Kanade replies, hanging up the call. "Well that's good to hear!"
"What did he say?" Tsubasa asks.
"Goku's happy to hear the beans worked, and he's training with Boss and Hibiki now." Kanade answers, finally processing what she said as she saw the look on Tsubasa's face.
"Boss is training Hibiki?!"
Next time on Sympho-Ball
Hey! It's me, Goku!
It looks like Hibiki's training is really paying off! Even Tsubasa's impressed!
What's that? Something happened to the Minister of Defense?! And now we have to relocate one of our complete relics?!
Well, I hope the fruits of Hibiki's labor come in handy, because we're definitely gonna need all the help we can get!
Next time on "Sympho-Ball":
A Burden no more! Struggle during the Durandal Escort!
Don't miss it!
A/N: And with that, we end the chapter!
Much like the concert tragedy's ending, I decided to change the ending to the first fight with Chris in Nehushtan's Armor, giving her the chance to show off the Superb Phonic Ki Boost years after Goku's first use of it, while also being able to explain it better than I did previously (Because I think I only mentioned it in the author's note two chapters ago, and that was it).
As for Kanade's new attack, while it was greatly enhanced by the SPKB, it's still a custom variation of LAST∞METEOR that can be used without the boost, taking advantage of the use of Ki to make it more fiery than LAST∞METEOR. (Think of it as STAB∞METEOR minus the stab for visual reference).
Now for Hibiki's training arc. Rest assured, Goku will still become her teacher, Genjuro's just getting her started on the physical aspects of combat. Realistically, Goku will take over as her teacher around the end of S1.
But with all of that out of the way, I thank you all for reading this chapter. I'm so glad to finally be bringing this fic out of hiatus, and I can't wait to share more of it soon! But until then, I shall see you all, in the next one!
