He was minding his own business, reading a magazine with his feet up on the stool while he waited for his husband to get home from work. Ron never thought this would be how his life would end up, but he was happy. His best friends were married and happy and his family were safe, so that was all he could ask for, really.

He and Blaise lived in a manor by the seaside and he loved hearing the waves crash against the beach. He grinned to himself and sighed in contentment; yes, this was unexpected, but the good kind of unexpected. The kind you never let go.

Before he could daydream too much about how he and Blaise got together, he felt something tickle along his arm. It was a strange, cold, tickle. He had goosebumps as he moved the magazine so he could see what a mistake that was.

He let out a terrified scream, paling drastically.

There, on his arm, was a very big spider.

It looked poisonous, too. Even though you didn't get those in the UK. His mind went straight to the worst. Using his spare arm, his hand shaking as he got his wand out of his pocket. He worked out which spell to use because there was no way on earth that he was waving that thing off his arm.

He said with a stutter, "A-Alarte ascendare!"

He watched, eyes wide as if it was going in slow motion as the spider went high in the air, spinning and turning around upside down and then back the right way up again.

But what he had forgotten was that the spell only worked going up, and then going back down again. And he let out another scream as the spider landed, not on his arm but this time on his lap.

Oh, Merlin's balls, how was he going to deal with this one?

He gulped and the moment the spider moved again, he said the spell again, this time with more confidence, and made sure to get the wand movement exactly right. "Alarte ascendare!"

The spider went up to the ceiling and Ron got up and scrambled to jump onto the other sofa so that when the spider landed again, it wouldn't be on him. Honestly, he was going to have nightmares after this.

But the spider never landed back down again.

Ron stared at it, mouth open agape. "Well, that was unexpected," he said, shocked.

"Ron, babe, love, I made it stick to the ceiling while you did the Alarte ascendare spell. Honestly, why I'm not surprised this is how I find you, I'll never understand."

Blaise's smooth voice had never made him relax so much before and he jumped off the sofa and ran over to him, hugging him tightly. His husband's laughter made his cheeks blush a lovely shade of red as he punched him lightly in the chest.

"Oi, what was that for? I just saved your life," Blaise said, in-between his laughter.

He laughed even more when he punched him again.

"Shut up, it's not funny!"

"I'll have to let the gossip queen of the Quibbler know about this, babe. It's hilarious, come on, relax, love."

"Oh, no, please don't tell Luna! Get rid of that spider and I'll love you forever—"

"Don't you love me forever anyway?" Blaise retorted back, affectionately.

"Blaise Elias Zabini."

"Alright, alright. Don't worry, I've got you, just go into the kitchen, I've got a surprise for you."

He raised his eyebrows at that and kissed Blaise softly, before heading towards the kitchen, with a goofy smile on his face. Once he got to the kitchen, the dining table was set; the smell of his favourite, fish and chips, filled the room and his heart skipped a beat as he spotted the candles and a photo frame. A picture of them twirling and swaying in the snow.

He had completely forgotten what day it was.

"Happy fourth anniversary, Ronald Billius Weasley. I love you, I'll get rid of all the spiders in the world, for you."

"Well, that was unexpected," he chuckled out of surprise and love, leaning in to kiss Blaise again, "I love you too, so much."
