Sorry for the delay! I think I accidentally burnt myself out, and got a bit busy. Here's the next chapter!
AmethystDragon14: I completely understand XD But over the years, the song has grown on me. I don't really blame Audrey or Ben, tbh. Ben is under a spell, but he does tell Mal he loves her and I bet that hurt Audrey. And add on the entire school cheering. Then, while I think it was petty and childish, I get why Audrey acted how she did.
danifan3000: The Isle of the Lost books, to me, just confirmed that Fairy Godmother and Beast are hypocrites. Because she USES MAGIC in those books. And yet, according to Wicked World (which I'll be ignoring but will take ideas from) Jane didn't even know she had magic until after the VK's came to Auradon. Which, I can't believe. And I agree, I think the wand was a mix of Jane not knowing how to control her magic and likely not being as magically powerful as her mother or Mal.
flurry: Thank you!
OceanBlueSeaEyes: Thanks for the input!
The scene showed the chemistry classroom. A test was going on, and Evie was searching her purse when Mr. Deley interrupted her, asking if she was looking for something and holding up her mirror.
"How did he get that?" Karine asked.
Evie scowled. "You're about to find out."
Mr. Deley thanked Chad, saying it was gratifying to see someone respect the honor code.
"And yet for him to have gotten the mirror, he would have had to steal it from Evie." Karine said loudly, glaring over at her brother who was shrinking under their parents' gazes.
Mr. Deley told Evie that he would be recommending her to be expelled.
"And I wouldn't have accepted it." Fairy Godmother said sternly. "He was singling Evie out, and had no proof but the word of another student who had stolen the item. Which," Fairy Godmother held up a finger before Chad could say something, "I'm letting slide this time and only this time, as Evie shouldn't have been using it. You are both lucky."
The two students thanked Fairy Godmother, and the woman turned around to look at the parents in the room. "I believe that Mr. Deley will be fired once we return." She said, a cheer erupting. "When we get back, I would like the parents and children who have had trouble with him to come forward."
"Who are you going to hire in his place, Fairy Godmother?" Josie asked. Even though she couldn't stand the man, and was happy that he'd be gone and Naomi wouldn't have to have him as a teacher, the school couldn't be without a chemistry teacher for long.
Fairy Godmother smiled. "I have someone in mind, and hopefully she's still available. If all goes well, I'll have a new teacher to introduce before spring break ends."
Evie tried to say something, but Doug cut her off, saying that that wasn't fair. He started to say that she couldn't be cheating since she didn't have the mirror, and kept telling Evie not to help as she continued to almost admit that she had been looking for the mirror.
"What were you doing?" Carlos asked, looking to Evie in confusion.
Evie flushed, "I… I didn't want to lie."
"You could have cost us the wand!" Mal said, "Not that… Not that I would care now, but at the time it would have been a big deal!"
"I knw! But.." Evie trailed off, looking down at her hands instead. "Mal, I didn't want to have to lie."
Mr. Deley sighed and said that if she could pass the test, he would return her property and let the matter drop.
The scene changed to the picnic area, with Evie running up to Doug and putting her arms around him to show off her B+ grade.
Cheers sounded around the room, and Evie laughed as Mal, Elsie, and Karine all hugged her.
"For the first time, it's like I'm more than just a pretty face." Evie told Doug, with him responding, "A shocker, huh?"
Snow smiled at the exchange. Hopefully, the pair could work things out.
Evie told him that he did great in there, and he responded she did as well.
"No, she did not." Hannah told him quietly with a shake of her head. "You are so far gone."
Doug groaned. "Why have I stayed here with you guys?"
"Because you're a coward?" Gordan snorted. His sister smacked his arm. "What? It's true!"
"Well, you're being mean!" She hissed, before sighing and looking at Doug. "But, he has a bit of a point. Don't be dopey, Doug."
Her words caused sighs from the family, but Doug ignored them. Perhaps they were right. But now the issue was, when should he head down? He knew what happened next, so it probably wasn't the right time.. If there would ever be a right time."
Evie bet that she bet she could get an 'A' on the next test without the mirror, and he asked if they could get together and hang out. She agreed, but before the conversation could continue, they were interrupted.
"There you are!" Mal exclaimed as she walked to the table, complaining that she had been searching everywhere for Evie.
"What's wrong?" Several people asked in concern, just as the on-screen Evie did.
"And did you have to ruin a cute moment?" Sally added with a sigh.
Mal sighed and told the couple that Ben just asked her out on a date.
"And that's bad?" Reiner asked slowly. "That was your goal, right?"
"Well, yes." Mal confirmed. "I just… I'd never been on a date before and didn't know what to do."
Some giggled sounded around the room, but no one was that surprised after remembering what the Vk's had been saying about the Isle of the Lost.
Evie said that they could handle this and told Doug bye. As the girls began to walk away, they were heard bickering over makeup.
"Makeup isn't evil," Audrey said, loud enough for Mal to hear.
"It might as well be," Mal snapped. "Most of the makeup on the Isle irritates my skin, so I avoid it."
Evie nodded, "It was horrible. So, once we got here, I started experimenting with makeup to create some that wouldn't hurt her." She grinned. "Her first date with Ben was the first time I got to go all out."
Evie and Mal were in their room, and Evie was applying blush to Mal's cheeks. Mal told her to be easy on the blush, as she didn't want to scare Ben away. "Not that I could." She added.
Several girls sighed, the fact that Ben's actions were the result of a love spell flying out of their minds.
Evie laughed and told her that her mom taught her to apply blush before she could talk.
Snow White covered her mouth in horror. She knew her stepmother was vain, but to start putting makeup on her baby? A child who didn't need makeup in the first place?
Mal said that her mother was never big on makeup tips, and she never had a sister. Evie responded with, "Well, you do now." Before mentioning that they would need all the family they could get if they didn't pull this off, and how the Evil Queen wasn't a barrel of laughs when she didn't get her way. "Just ask Snow White."
Looks were thrown to the woman in question, who just nodded her head. "It's true." She said, thinking back to all the tantrums her stepmother had had when Snow was a young girl, including the famous order for her heart.
Mal asked if Evie was afraid of her mom, and Evie said "Sometimes." Evie then asked the same question, and Mal was quiet for a moment before saying that she just wanted her mom to be proud of her. She said that Maleficent would get so angry with her when she disappointed her. "And… yeah, she's my mom, so I know she loves me… in her own way."
All the parents in the room who had their children with them drew them closer, thinking about how no child should ever fear their parents. No child should have to wonder if their parents loved them. That was supposed to be a given. It hit those who had grown up with bad parents, or evil stepparents, the hardest. Rapunzel had just about buried her face into Edeline's hair, while Snow was holding onto Sandra tightly.
Near the screen, Persephone was stress-braiding her hair, just to give her hands something to do. Hidden in the shadows, foxglove and purple hyacinth began to grow.
Evie ended the conversation and pulled Mal over to a mirror. Mal stared at herself in shock. "I look…" Mal started. Evie encouraged her to finish the sentence. "Not hideous."
Jane's head whipped towards Mal in shock. Mal had thought that about herself? Mal?
Not long after that, Mal opened the door to Ben, who looked at her in awe. "For the first time, I understand the difference between pretty and beautiful."
Audrey tried to not be bothered by that. She did. "It's just the love spell." She whispered to herself, trying to chase away the thoughts that said otherwise. "Just the love spell."
Mal laughed and Ben said he hoped she liked bikes. Evie watched them go with a smile.
The next scene showed Mal and Ben on Ben's moped, then changed to the pair walking on a bridge.
Rapunzel smiled at the screen as it showed Mal goofing off. She imagined that the girl didn't get to do that often.
In the front, Belle was also smiling. Yes, it was partially because of a love spell and she knew that, but seeing her son so happy and acting like a teenager made her heart warm.
Ben asked Mal to tell him something that she'd never told anyone before.
"Oh no." Mal said with a whine, "Persephone, do you have to show this?"
Persephone grinned and said yes.
"My middle name, is Bertha."
"Bertha?" A few questioned, while muffled laughter was heard around the room. Even Aurora was trying not to laugh.
Mal nodded with a sigh. "Just my mother being really, really evil."
Ben told her that his was Florian, to which Mal said was almost worse. He agreed, but said that it was better than Bertha. "But still not good."
Florian cleared his throat, causing Ben to flush. "Sorry, Uncle Florian." He said loudly, before whispering to Mal. "Florian is my god-father, and I was named after him."
The scene changed to show Ben helping Mal, with her eyes closed, over the terrain.
"Wow." Evie exclaimed softly, her eyes wide.
"What?" Karine asked. There wasn't anything too concerning happening on the screen, other than perhaps Mal's shoe choice, but that was on Ben.
"It's just… letting someone lead you blind on the Isle takes a lot of trust." She explained. "Even with the love potion, and knowing that Ben wouldn't do anything, it would take a lot of trust."
Her words made Ben smile down at Mal.
Ben told Mal to open her eyes, and she gasped, seeing a beautiful lake and picnic.
"Oh my gosh!" Elsie squealed.
Reiner flinched, "Ow, Els. Volume."
"Sorry, sorry! But you see where they are, don't you?!" She asked, a large smile on her face and her green eyes sparkling.
He chuckled, "Yes, I see where they are." His voice dropped to a whisper, "And yes, I know what that means."
At their picnic, Mal was eating a donut and Ben asked her if this was her first time.
She hummed and tried to explain that they didn't really date on the Isle, it was more like gang activity.
"That's one way to put it." Jay commented. She was right, dates weren't a thing on the Isle. That didn't mean that there weren't romantic partnerships, it just meant that most were hidden or just weren't acknowledged, such as Shy and Clay. But even those weren't like how it was here in Auradon, asking someone out and getting to know them that way, they were built by creating an alliance and forming bonds of trust while trying to survive.
Ben laughed and rephrased his question, saying he meant eating a jelly donut. Mal paused, asking if it was bad, to which he leaned forward and helped her wipe crumbs off her lips. Mal laughed about how he couldn't take her anywhere. Ben mentioned that he was the only one who had been talking and asked her to tell him something.
"Well, I'm sixteen, I'm an only child, and I've only ever lived in one place."
A pit formed in Mal's stomach. I'm an only child. Just another lie she had told knew that she should tell him the truth, but how was he going to react? She didn't even like her father! But her brother was a different story.
Ben exclaimed that they had so much in common, but Mal laughed and denied it. "And now you're going to be King."
"Yeah," Ben said without enthusiasm, with Mal asking what was wrong. "A crown doesn't make you a king."
"Well, it kinda does." Jay said, just as the on-screen Mal said the same.
"Yeah, but there's a lot more to being a king than a crown." Aleksander said, speaking up from where he'd been observing. "Your whole kingdom's needs are on your shoulders."
Ben sighed, "Thank you, Alek." He said flatly. The older Prince's words was not helping the anxiety he already had about becoming High King tomorrow. In a way, it was even worse for him than the average prince, because he would have multiple kingdom's needs on his shoulders.
Ben explained that Maleficent was the Mistress of Evil, and he had the poster parents for good, but said that they weren't automatically like their parents. They get to choose. He then told her that he could look in her eyes, and he just knew that she wasn't evil.
Queen Leah scoffed, still believing that Mal was just as evil as her mother. Or would be just as evil as her mother.
Ben looked out at the water and asked Mal to join him for a swim. Mal quickly declined, "I'm just gonna stay here and have a strawberry!" She told him, explaining how she'd never had a strawberry before.
At the first bite, Mal was in love.
"We're going to have to stock up on strawberries." Eugene whispered to Rapunzel. Rapunzel turned to him with wide eyes, and he just smiled at her. "I know you, Sunshine." He said. "You want to invite Mal to the castle, don't you?"
"And you're okay with that?" She asked, just to make sure. "We have six kids, and their pets, and those kids' friends."
Eugene waved a hand, "Eh, what's adding one more to the mix?"
Rapunzel laughed and kissed her husband. Now they just had to see if Ben, Mal, and their kids would agree.
Mal walked over to the edge of the platform, and looked up to see Ben on the small cliff.
"Are those crowns on your shorts?" Brendan asked in amusement, just as the past-Mal asked the same thing.
"Christmas present from Chip." Ben said with a laugh. Every year, the pair tried to gift each other things relating to the story of Belle and Beast. This tended to mean that Chip ended up with a lot of teacups, which his daughters would steal to play tea-party with, and Ben had quite a few things with crowns or roses on them.
Ben roared and jumped into the lake.
Around the room Tourney members were exchanging amused glances. They all knew about Ben's 'Beast' quirk.
Music started to play, and Mal turned around to sing. "A million thoughts, in my head. Should I let my heart keep listening?"
"Oh, Mal." Belle whispered as the girl's conflict was shown.
Mal sang that up until then she'd walked the line, but despite nothing being lost it felt like something was missing. "I can't decide, what's wrong? What's right? Which way should I go?"
"How about back to that island you came from." Queen Leah grumbled to Audrey, who just shook her head at her grandmother's words.
Mal sang, wishing she knew what her heart was telling her, and asking if this was a dream. "If only I could read the signs in front of me. I could find a way to who I'm meant to be!"
Mal curled into herself as her turmoil was broadcast for everyone to see. To put the icing on the cake, there just had to be scenes of her and Ben playing as well.
"If only! If only…"
Some of the older AK's nodded in understanding. While their situations weren't the same, many of them understood the struggle of finding your own path instead of following your parents exact footsteps. It seemed to come with the territory of being a hero, and it seemed like a villain, kid.
Mal continued to sing, struggling with what to do and mentioning that she seemed to be becoming someone new, before diving back into the chorus.
"Her voice is so pretty." Naomi said to Tiana, as they listened to Mal hold a note.
"It is." Tiana agreed.
"Am I crazy? Maybe, we could happen?"
"Insane is more like it." Queen Leah scoffed.
"Grammy, stop!" Audrey said with tears in her eyes, shocking her grandmother. That was the Enchanted Lake. Ben swam in it, which meant that the spell would be gone. He was with Mal because he wanted to be, not because he had to be. But, Leah didn't like magic, and Audrey didn't have the energy to argue with her. Instead, she just pleaded. "Please, stop."
"Will you still be with me, when the magic's all run out?"
Ben kissed Mal's hand. "Always." He whispered.
The song continued, "If only I could read the signs in front of me. I could find a way to, who I'm meant to be! Ah oh. If only, yeah!"
"Do you hear that?" Marette asked her sisters. "There's a male voice.
Maisie listened carefully as the song began to end. "It sounds like it could be Ben." She suggested, casting a look towards the Prince.
"It is the Enchanted Lake," Moira said, gaining looks of confusion from her sisters. "Let's just say that Mal wasn't the only one going through an emotional ride."
The song finished and Mal walked to the edge of the platform, only to notice that she couldn't spot Ben anywhere. She called to him several times, but after he didn't respond, she jumped into the water.
"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" Evie shouted, pulling Mal into her arms. "You can't do that! You can't swim!"
"Evie, I'm fine!" Mal assured, attempting to break free from her best friend's hold. She looked to Jay for help, but his eyes were focused on the screen, and she heard him mutter "Not again," in Arabic.
Evie ignored her, and only began to let go as the screen showed Ben rescuing Mal. As she did, she whispered "But you might not have been."
"You… You can't swim?" Ben asked after he got Mal to safety. He was shocked when Mal shouted "NO!"
"You grew up on an island." Chad pointed out with a frown, calmer than the past Ben.
The VK's, however, all yelled, "With a barrier around it!"
"It's not even just the barrier," Carlos said, "It's the trash and crocs as well. For the most part, the only ones who can swim are the pirates, and that's only because the crocodiles and other sea creatures leave Uma, Ursula, and the other sea witches alone."
"Uma?" Aksel asked, noticing how Mal and Jay both scowled at the name.
Mal's scowl only got deeper as she said, "Ursula's daughter."
Ariel sat up straighter. She hadn't even known that Ursula had a daughter. Had she missed it on the records? Why hadn't her father or grandfather said anything?
"Shrimpy runs the pirate village." Mal continued. "The only other gang there is Harriet's crew, and they're small, more focused on protecting their own than having territory." Harriet was also known for taking in young children. Mal had dropped some off to her before, as it was safer for Harriet to care in the pirate zone than it would be closer to the middle of the Isle.
Beast frowned at the reminder of gang activity, but Belle put a hand on his arm. "They are doing what they can to survive." She reminded him quietly. "After everything we've seen and heard, Adam, can you blame them?"
He sighed, "No. I can't."
"And you still tried to save me." Ben said.
Mal laughed harshly. "Yeah, and do you thank me? No! All I get is soaking wet!"
Ben tried to deflate the situation, holding out a sparkly rock and saying it was hers. He then told her to make a wish and throw it back into the water.
"That probably wasn't the best time to give her that." Emery told Ben, his words confirmed by the past-Mal, who angrily threw the rock back into the lake.
Mal moved to the picnic blanket, with Ben quickly following her and putting his jacket around her shoulders. They both sat, and Ben began to play with Mal's hair.
"Mal… I told you that I loved you." Ben said, "What about you? Do you love me?"
"It's your first date!" Teresa exclaimed, causing Naomi to shush her.
Mal looked away and said. "I don't know what love feels like."
Ben reached out and turned Mal's face to look at him, then quietly said, "Maybe I can teach you."
"Oh my gosh, they're so cute." Jamila whispered to Dasha, who had moved closer with her family during the last break.
Dasha sighed. "If only he wasn't under a love spell." She noticed a glint in Jamila's eyes at her words. "What?"
"I have something to tell you."
The scene changed to the four VK's getting ready to leave Remedial Goodness when Fairy Godmother stopped them. She explained that family day was coming up, and since their parents couldn't be there, they set up a special treat.
"A special treat?" Aleksander asked cautiously, as the four Vk's fidgeted in their seats.
"It, uh, didn't go as planned." Fairy Godmother admitted.
Fairy Godmother turned on the computer screen, to show Maleficent's face.
Startled shouts were heard throughout the room, and despite it being in the past, Mal couldn't stop herself from flinching as well.
"I don't see anything, nor do I hear." Maleficent was complaining. Fairy Godmother called the kids over as their parents continued to bicker about how to get the electronic equipment to work.
Queen Leah held up her chin, "She can't even work a remote." She remarked loudly.
"How would she know how too, Grandmother?" Pierre asked, giving her an unamused look. "She's been on the Isle for twenty years and was never even introduced to electricity before that. As I recall, neither were you."
Queen Leah gasped, and turned to Aurora and Phillip. "Well?" She asked them, gesturing towards Pierre. "Punish him!"
"He's twenty, Mother." Aurora said. "We don't punish him anymore, and even if we did, he said nothing worth punishing."
Queen Leah gaped at her, and while she didn't see it, Phillip turned to give Pierre a thumbs up.
The villains figured it out and were able to see their children. Evil Queen was the first to cry out, and said, "Evie! It's Mommy! Oh, look how beautiful! Oh, you know what they say, the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
Snow frowned, but in all honesty, it wasn't quite as bad as she was expecting. At least Grimhilde seemed happy to see her daughter.
In another row, Anna was angrily ranting about how the old witch couldn't even compliment her daughter, with Kristoff attempting to calm her down.
On the screen, Maleficent said something about the Evil Queen meaning weeds, and Mal just held up a hand before anyone could say anything. "I don't know." She said, "And honestly, I think we are all better off without knowing."
Cruella asked who the old bat was.
"Have you seen yourself?" Rebecca muttered, glaring at the woman on the screen.
Roger coughed to cover up a laugh, while Anita lightly scolded their daughter for being rude.
Mal held Fairy Godmother's shoulders and introduced her.
"Still doing tricks with eggplants?" Maleficent asked, cackling. "You really couldn't give Cinderella till one A.M? I mean, really? What, the hamsters had to be back on their little wheels?"
"They were mice!" Fairy Godmother grumbled, still upset over the conversation.
Mal looked over at the headmistress. "She was just trying to rile you up." She said, "You're one of the people she hates most."
Mal calmly got Fairy Godmother to move away, and as soon as she was out of the villain's line of sight, Maleficent's demeanor changed. She sharply said her daughters name, before forcing out a "I miss you."
"She can't even tell her daughter she misses her." Rapunzel said angrily, her hands clenching together. She wished she had her frying pan and a target, specifically one with Maleficent's face on it.
Eugene rubbed her shoulders, but he too was glaring at the old fae.
Jafar called out that the children were never far from their thoughts.
Jay scoffed, "Yeah, probably worrying about us messing up, and planning our doom if we do." he said, ignoring the looks of concern his Auradon friends sent his way.
"Or he was upset that we weren't there to help you stock the shop." Carlos said, to which Jay shrugged and responded, "Always a possibility."
Maleficent took over again. "How long must Mommy wait to see you?"
"I have never called her Mommy." Mal said, wincing a bit just at the thought of it. "The only things I've ever called her, at least that I can remember, were Maman, Mom, and Mother."
Mal mentioned the coronation, and when Maleficent asked when, she said "Friday! 10 A.M."
Maleficent asked if she was sure she couldn't see her before then. "I don't know what I'll do if I don't get my hands on that magic wan… you… you little nugget that I love so much!"
Mal told her that she completely understood.
"And that whole conversation wasn't a red flag to you?" Lonnie asked Fairy Godmother, not even caring if she was being disrespectful. "Not even just the wand issue, but the way they were acting!"
Fairy Godmother looked down. "I wasn't sure what to think." She admitted. "But perhaps, just like you dear, I was naive enough to hope that villains love their children the same way heroes do."
Cruella suddenly noticed Dude in Carlos' arms, telling her 'baby' that Dude looked like the perfect size for earmuff's.
"He's the perfect size for a pet!" Carlos snapped back.
"Go Carlos!" Antonio shouted, with others joining in. Carlos ducked his head in embarrassment. But he had to admit, watching the past him stand up to his mother was a good feeling. It made him think that he could do it again… so long as they weren't physically face to face.
"This dog loves me, and I love him." Carlos said firmly, before yelling at his mother that her dog was stuffed so give it a rest.
His words caused Jafar and Cruella to get into an argument, with the others getting involved as well. Having enough, Jay stepped forward and switched off the monitor.
"Thank you, Jay." Anastasia whispered to Dimitri." Honestly, arguing instead of paying attention to their children."
Fairy Godmother apologized to them all, and Jay thanked her for the special treat before the four headed out of the area.
"M? What do you think our parents are going to do to us if we don't pull this off?" Evie asked quietly.
Mal slowly said, "I think they will be quietly disappointed in us, but ultimately… proud of us, for doing our best."
"Really?" Jamila asked, at the same time as the past Carols.
"No," Mal said with a laugh. "I think we are definitely goners."
"Oh.. that makes more sense."
Ben squeezed Mal's hand, and decided that at the next break he'd bring up a vote for the council. There were enough of them there that if the majority voted yes, the VK's would be able to stay in Auradon. He'd fight if he had to, because he was not sending them back to the Isle.
The Vk's were now in the boys room going over a map of the chapel Ben would be crowned in. Mal was pointing to where everyone would be. Carlos then stepped in, explaining that he'd find their limo so they could break open the barrier and get in with the wand.
"That's assuming the remote would be there." Mason said. "What would you do if it wasn't?"
Mal raised a brow, "Use the wand."
"Rights," Mason said, clearing his throat. "The wand."
Mal then gave Evie a bottle.
"That's what you sprayed on Chad!" Audrey shouted.
Evie glared over at her. "Yeah, because he was harassing us and we needed to get out of there!"
Mal told her to use it against the driver. Two sprays and he'd be out like a light.
"And as you all know, it's a light sleeping potion." Mal said. "Harmless."
Evie looked over Mal's shoulder, and said in surprise. "M? You want to break Ben's love spell?"
"Finally, she's doing something reasonable." Queen Leah said to Audrey. "Once this is over, Ben can have it and you'll be by his side once more."
"No, I won't Grammy." Audrey said with a sigh, even though she wished those words were true. "They were at the Enchanted Lake. It washes away spells."
Queen Leah scoffed. "Well, obviously it doesn't wash them all away!"
Audrey went to argue, but her father squeezed her shoulder. "It's not worth it." He told her quietly. "Your grandmother will believe whatever she wants to believe."
Audrey frowned, but knew he was right.
"Yeah. You know, for after." Mal said. She told Evie that she had been thinking about how once the villains take over Auradon and destroy everything that is good and beautiful, Ben still being in love with her would just seem extra cruel.
Several of the younger kids hid in their parents arms at Mal's words, as visions of what the villains would do filled their heads. Not for the first time that day, there were silent thanks given to Persephone for putting the even younger children in a different room.
Evie tried to talk to her more, but Mal darted off. The screen began to change, showing Jay looking at the tourney trophy, Carlos laying in bed petting Dude, and Evie looking at her B+ test score.
"You guys really don't want to go through with it." Tyrone said.
Evie blinked away tears. "Of course we don't! But please, you have to understand, Maleficent runs the Isle. We won't be welcome back if we fail."
Mal was seen in the kitchen making the antidote, as music began to play. "A million thoughts, in my head. Should I let my heart keep listenin'?"
Everything in Rapunzel wanted to pull the girl into her arms as she watched the scene before her.
"I know it's time to say goodbye… so hard, to let go." A single tear fell from her eyes and into the potion. She then closed her spellbook and tried to keep herself from crying more.
Ben felt his heart breaking at his girlfriend's tears, the memory of her explaining how she never cried fresh in his mind.
"You won't lose me," He whispered, reaching out to cup her face. "I promise."
Mal didn't say anything, but she did squeeze his hand in response.
Persephone stepped forward. "What you are about to see is what happened right before you came here." She told them all loudly. "After it, we'll watch what your day would have been had the Fates and I not intervened. Then, a break. Now, let us continue."
