Two Months Later
11 AM, December 14th, 1844
Arendelle Palace, Royal Chambers
"Achoo!" With a sniffle, Anna abruptly woke up on her bed and felt the pressing headache that had settled into her head. The chilling wind that wafted through the room made her shiver just a bit more as she pulled the covers over her again. When she found no source of warmth under the covers, she decided that she had slept enough. With a groan, she forced her sore body into a sittling position and tried to rub the disorientation out of her eyes. Then she got off the bed and moved to close the window so that the chill would finally leave her. However, when she got to the window and realised her window was locked, she felt a sense of concern and trepidation settle in her already unsettling stomach. She rushed, well stumbled, back to the bed and noticed a light sheen of ice on her bed like before. Curiously, and with a disbelieving look on her face, she slowly moved her hand to the ice. When her hand touched the ice, it suddenly began breaking down in a noisy shatter. Startled, she jumped back in shock and realised the ice covered more than just her bed but also the pink walls of of her room. Only when a light sheen of reflective film started cracking and falling did she take notice of the ice that had been all over her walls. Panicking and scared that she was somehow showing symptoms of her previous illness of being frozen, she bolted from the room only to nearly run into her sister who had apparently been on her way to wake her up. When she had gotten herself under control, she attempted to deter her sister's concerned look that reminded her of how much she loved her. At her sister's questioning look, she nervously chuckled and attempted to come up with a believable excuse for her panicked run.
"Eh he he. Good morning Elsa! Uh. Great to see you! I was just heading to the dining hall for breakfast. What were you doing?" When she realised her sister only looked even more confused and concerned, she averted her eyes and finally noticed the sun's high position in the sky. Almost like it was near noon. Wait what? She had overslept by that much?
"Anna are you alright? It's already nearly time for lunch so I just thought I would come to wake you up." At that she began panicking again and her sister reached out a hand to steady her. She looked back up at her. "Anna? Are you okay?" Her sister's concerned voice came quietly as she looked into her eyes; trying to see if her sister was sick or suffering from anything. Not wanting to worry her sister, especially since she didn't truly understand what was happening to her, she instead tried to steady her voice and replied.
"Everything's fine. Yeah its okay. I'm just feeling a little sick is all. I think I might have a little cold but its not really serious so don't worry about me." Came her spree of rapid responses before her sister even had time to follow up with any other questions.
"Okay Anna. But if anything's bothering you I'll always be here for you okay?" Her sister's reply finally served to calm her panic and she nodded eagerly. However, before she could continue on her way, they heard the voice of Madara to the side.
"You don't just have a cold Anna. I can see traces of magic inside you. It seems you're suffering from some form of magic awakening that's causing your body to try and reject it as an illness." He stated before turning off his Sharingan and removing himself from his position leaning on the wall. He then came over and stood in front of her and placed his hand on her forehead before his hand began glowing green. She felt a sense of warmth spread through her body as his healing spell did the work and when he removed his hand she felt much better. Still slightly sore, but she wrote that off to a side effect of whatever it was that Madara had said she had.
"Thanks Madara. I guess I needed that. Anyways, I'm fine now so lets go! I'm starving!" She exclaimed energetically in an attempt to lighten the situation. Elsa looked at her with one last worried look before nodding starting the short walk to the dining hall. She noticed that Elsa walked to her side and kept glancing worriedly at her as if expecting her to suddenly fall down.
When they made it to the dining hall, they proceeded to eat a hearty and warm breakfast that served to warm up her body even more. Throughout the meal, she noticed Elsa and Madara's stares on her and tried to ignore their very palpable worry. Well, she could feel Elsa's worry. She didn't know what went on in Madara's head so she just assumed he was also worried for her. He was always stoic around them so she wasn't even sure he actually cared. She liked to think he did given that he chose to hang around them when her sister had offered him the guest chambers next to their rooms. Since he was the captain of the Queen's royal guard, his quarters would have been in the other section of the palace that was designated for he guards. Instead he had chosen to stay close to them for reasons she believed was out of care for the two of them.
—
After their meal, Elsa had asked the both of them to meet her in the study to discuss what Madara had said concerning her. With the both of them sitting down opposite her desk, she looked to Madara and prompted him to start explaining what he meant earlier in the hallway.
"The residual magic that was left from Elsa's spell and Hans's mind control spell have reacted violently and are now trying to fight each other for dominance within her." He explained while using his Sharingan to gaze at Anna's stomach region and making her feel self-concious. She chuckled nervously and confusedly as she felt like she was completely lost and when she looked at her sister for support, she found her equally as lost.
"When Elsa accidentally hit you with her ice powers, it interacted with the compulsion spell that Hans already used on you. That is what actually caused your heart to freeze and not merely from Elsa's spell hitting you. Elsa's power does not freeze unless she truly wishes it to." He explained as he then looked at Anna and turned to Elsa.
"I'm going to do what I did with you three years ago."
Then he turned back to her and his eyes morphed from the normal three comma'd Sharingan into the comet shaped Mangekyou Sharingan. Then their surroundings suddenly changed and she found herself in the frozen palace that Elsa had made.
"Where are we?" The voice of her sister made her aware that she was here with her.
"This is merely your mind at the moment. Not the actual place." Madara answered Elsa's unspoken question as they both began walking around and noticed the various doors that existed where she was pretty sure hadn't existed. As she made her way to one of them, Madara suddenly appeared in front of her and drew his sword. Just in time as well since the door suddenly blasted outward and a sword made of ice slammed into the flat of Madara's sword. The force threw him backwards and he quickly righted himself in the air with a flip. As soon as his feet touched the ground, he immediately sprinted back towards the frozen Anna before pushing her away from the rapidly descending ginormous sword. The sword crashed agains the icy floor and Elsa tried to use her powers to freeze the sword to the ground. Only for the giant monstrosity made of what seemed to be black ice to lift the sword off effortlessly. When the creature turned its attention to Elsa, she quickly backed away with fear-filled eyes. Seeing the fleeing Elsa, the creature raised its sword to strike again before a sea of flames slammed into the monstrosity. It reared back and roared in agony as its body caught fire instantly and began melting. Not wanting to lose, it quickly reached towards the fleeing Anna with a clawed hand that approached her rapidly. Its shadow quickly overtook her and she looked up as its hand descended. Quickly closing her eyes in preparation for her approaching doom, she suddenly felt a wind rush past her and a loud crash followed as the ground shook. Regaining her footing, she looked up and saw the cloud of smoke before waving her hands in front of her trying to ward the steam away so she could see. A moment later, the steam quickly dissipated and she saw Elsa struggling to her feet with Madara standing in front of the decapitated head of the ice monstrosity. When that too finished melting, she finally saw the darkness that seemed to flitter around behind the door and suddenly a voice that sounded suspiciously like Hans filtered through.
"You are mine Anna!"
"No! I will never be yours nor was I ever yours." She stated back resolutely and with a furious expression on her face. The voice of Hans did not answer so she assumed it was part of her imagination. With that settled, and wanting nothing to do with the darkness that lay beyond the door, she moved to where her sister was being tended to by Madara.
"Elsa are you hurt? You weren't hit were you?" She asked frantically as she searched with her eyes over her sister to find any wounds. Her sister quickly placed her hands on her shoulders and looked into her eyes.
"I'm fine Anna. Really." Her sister said comfortingly. Once she was certain her sister was telling the truth and after looking over her again, she turned her attention to Madara who was making his way towards the open door.
"Don't go in there!" She called to him. But he ignored her and continued his journey into the abyss. Uncertain what to do now that he just walked off, she looked to her sister who looked back just as uncertainly and asked,
"Should we follow him? But its so dark and I thought I heard Hans when I looked into it. But it didn't reply when I answered so I thought it was just my imagination. But what if it wasn't an imagination? What if he's really here and he's back for -"
"Anna! Calm down. I'm sure Madara is fine. He's strong remember? He wouldn't just run into there without having a good reason." Her sister cut her off and used her hands to shake her from her panic. She looked back at her sister's eyes and instantly felt calm beginning to settle back into her mind. They then turned towards the open door when a person flew out of it and impacted the wall opposite it. When the person slid to the ground, Anna immediately recognized him as the mad Prince Hans. She and Elsa began slowly moving towards where he laid on the ground and carefully approached the downed prince. However, when he began groaning and started pushing himself off the ground, they stopped their approach as a dark mist began to envelop the man and a heavy feeling of danger permeated from his form. Just as he got to his feet, Madara appeared in front of him and slammed a fist into his face knocking him back against the wall. As Hans attempted to get back up, Madara then stabbed him in the gut before pulling it out rapidly. A dark misty looking string of light flew from Hans into the sword and after a while, Hans's body began falling apart before drifting into the wind that drifted into the room from the open doorway. With that gone, Madara then turned to them and gave them a smal nod that they returned. Then he raised his right hand into a handsign and they suddenly felt the ground fall out from under them.
A moment later and they felt themselves slam back into their seats. Anna panted in shock as she attempted to come to grips with what they had just experienced in the ice palace. Or rather a different ice palace? Or was it their hallucination? She couldn't really tell. She was startled out of her reverie by a hand on her's and she looked up to see Elsa looking at her with questioning eyes. She smiled comfortingly and nodded. Elsa stared into her eyes a few seconds longer before she sat back down and looked at Madara for an explanation.
"That was just a metaphysical representation of Anna's subconscious which we call the Mindscape. It is here where we are able to figure out any problems with a person's magic core. However, since only a person with the Sharingan can infiltrate another's Mindscape. Thus it was never truly an option as a medical technique." Madara stated as his eyes reverted back to their original charcoal black and stood back up. He turned to the queen and continued his monotonous explanation.
"The black ice creature was a manifestation of the psychological trauma that Anna experienced while under the control of Hans's hypnosis. The Hans you saw was a fragment of his leftover magic that has now been expelled from your magic core."
"Wait. I have magic? So I'm not, my heart's not getting frozen?" Anna questioned in relief and confusion. Her sister looked at her with sudden clarity and shock.
"Is that what's been bothering you Anna? Why didn't you tell me?" Her sister's soft tone belied a tiny sense of betrayal that made her look away in slight shame at having tried to hide her worries.
"Well I didn't want you to worry since you know. You're the Queen and you've got a lot of stuff you need to do." She replied in a nervous tone as she kept flicking her eyes to and fro, dodging her sister's betrayed look.
Sensing that the sisters needed some time to figure out this latest development, Madara turned and left the room after quietly excusing himself. Leaving Anna with nothing but to face her sister and try to keep her from worrying even more than she was no doubt now feeling from her latest revelation.
