"Come faster, Nii-san!" A young man hollered, climbing over a large hill of rocks in his way.

"Inari, come on, what's the rush?" Naruto questioned, as he followed after the boy at a much slower pace.

"I want to see what the storm dragged up!" Inari told him excitedly.

Some of which Naruto didn't understand much, but he chuckled a little at his enthusiasm.

"Come on, Nii-san! Maybe there's a bunch of cool ninja stuff washed up," Inari told him, as he ran off over the hill of rocks to reach the beach on the other side, leaving Naruto's view entirely.

It wasn't long before he heard a loud shout of panic come from the other side…

"Big brother Naruto!" Inari cried out.

Naruto's heart sunk, as he rushed forward, leaping on the top of the mountain, in a near instant he surveyed his surroundings. A kunai appeared in his hand within the blink of an eye.

Gazing over the entire beach, no one else appeared to be in the area, so they were safe from danger for now. Quickly putting away his blade to hide it from the child, he once again looked over the area, now knowing it was clear from any possible invaders.

"Naruto-nii!" Inari shouted once again.

Causing Naruto's focus to shift to the boy. He had run to the edge of the beach, close to the waters. And right next to him was a…

"Inari, get back!" Naruto ordered, as he rushed towards the boy.

But Inari ignored his statement, "nii-san! Can you help her?" He asked in a panic.

Naruto made his way next to the boy, observing what appeared to be the limp body of a woman next to him. She was lying along the beach seaside, soaked in water from head to toe. It was likely that she had washed ashore.

"Can you help her?" Inari asked again, not knowing what to do in this situation. But he wanted to help this woman, something within him screamed to help her. He knew he couldn't…

But if anyone could help her, it would be his older brother.

Naruto hesitated, looking at the woman once again, noticing her strange clothing, which oddly enough didn't appear to be damaged. At least she didn't look like a ninja, and didn't have any kind of headband at all. And right now, she didn't look to be much of a threat.

But looking in the eyes of the boy, he could tell. The boy wanted a hero. No, someone who could save this woman, just like how his village had been saved. Someone like Kaiza.

He wasn't that person, but he couldn't say no.

Now, he wasn't a medic, but he did know quite a bit about first-aid, so he got to work.

"Inari," Naruto spoke up, "go get help," he told the boy, all humor within his voice gone. Seriousness over taking his visage; as the then boy nodded and ran off to go find a doctor in the village.

Naruto lent down to reach at her neck, as he waited, and waited, hoping. He was starting to think he was getting inari's hopes up, until…

Bump. Bump.

It was faint, yet it was still there. A faint smile graced his lips and a soft, true, chuckle erupted out, and for a moment, he was left in shock. But he quickly wiped that feeling away, he had a job to do.

Placing his fingers below her nostrils, he waited to see if she was breathing. And just like her heart beat, it was faint… but it was there.

Putting his hand in the area right above her solar plexus, he pushed down, fulfilling the correct number of chest compressions he took a gasp of breath. He was lucky the girl clothing wasn't as restrictive as it appeared, lest he be forced to remove it.

Forcing his lips onto hers, as he tried to give a few breaths of life within her withering frame, mentally ignoring the heavy taste of iron within his lips for the time being.

He repeated this process a few more times.

But in all likelihood, his attempts at CPR would not hold out long enough for help to arrive. He needed to reassess the situation.

From what he guessed, she had been washed at sea. It was cold out, and judging from how cold her skin was, it was likely she received some form of hypothermia. That, and coupled with her short breaths, he could only guess she had some lung damage. In addition to the oblivious internal damage, he thought she had from tasting the blood within her mouth.

There were just too many problems for him to solve all at once. Unless…

Not hesitating for a second, he reached forward and grasped her pale hands. They were cold, which was obviously a sign of her body temperature being abnormally cooler than normal.

But they were also soft, it was… strange? To say the least, not something he was used to in his experience to say the least.

He took a deep breath, as he was pulled into his subconscious. A place where he hadn't been in over a year.

And it wasn't long after that their forms were engulfed in an orange light.

Bleary eyelids finally opened, revealing the beautiful blue orbs that lay beneath.

What had happened? For the life of her, she couldn't remember.

Her mind ached, not unlike in the way it had before.

She checked her magic circuits, they felt… off? No, that wasn't quite it, it felt as if her prana levels had slightly increased.

Her reality felt off, but she couldn't tell quite what was different. Had it all been a dream? Was she back in Corinth?

No, she knew that wasn't it. She knew that was impossible. But even so, with that knowledge, it still took her some time to give her body the order to move.

Spotting small wooden walls, and judging from the surrounding decorations, it seemed she was in what looked to be a strange house. As he realized she was sitting in a bed, one that wasn't uncomfortable, but it wasn't entirely comfortable either, and not something she had been used to. The only thing she could compare it to were the beds within the Argo, but even then Jason had procured the best accommodations he could for the Argonauts. And even so, he had given her a decent enough quarters to reside in during their journey.

Just where was she?

"Glad to see you're finally awake," a voice stated offhandedly. As she jolted her head in the direction of the sound.

There sat a man, who didn't look to be older than 20, around her age. Blond hair, not unlike Jason's in color, except his was spikier, jutting out in all directions. He had tan skin, showing that he had spent a great deal of time in the sun, or perhaps it was just his natural complexion. A set of three… whisker marks? Adorned his cheeks. They were strange, and something she hadn't seen before, especially considering he appeared to be a human,

But the most concerning thing were his eyes, cold blue orbs that stared into her soul and observed her every movement.

His body was entirely still, sitting down in a nearby chair. How long had he been watching her?

"You've been asleep for quite some time," he finished, breaking her out of her thoughts.

"Who are you," she demanded, in a tone that was unlike her usual self. She tried to get up from her sitting position.

This man could be a threat, had she been taken prisoner somehow?

The man stuck his palms up, showing he wasn't a threat, "you should calm down," he suggested. "You were pretty injured when you were found, you could hurt yourself if you continue to move," he reasoned, hiding the fact that it was he who had found her, along with the young boy who he stayed with. Although the real reason he told her to take it easy was a little more complicated.

What he had done to heal her had been something he hadn't even tried before. He didn't know what effects it might have on her system.

He had sensed an energy within her, one not unlike chakra. But it appeared she wasn't a kunoichi. Her hands were too clean of blisters, skin too fair. Plus, had she been a ninja, she would have reacted far differently when she had awakened.

But the answer still eluded him, just what was she?

The woman thought over his words. Preposterous, her body felt fine, better than ever, which is more than she could say about her head.

Wait, he said she had been unconscious for some time, just how long had it been since…

She tried to remember what had happened. She was on a ship, talking to Jason, he got tired of her and left, and then…

And then it hit her, the storm had washed the Argo away and caused the waves to overtake them.

Had it been the work of Poseidon? Or some other deity that opposed their voyage. She didn't know.

But that thought made her realize something else, as her head snapped up, and she began to speak frantically to the man nearby, "tell me, had there been anyone else who had washed up, a blond male with green eyes perhaps?" She asked hopeful but also desperate for an answer.

If she had survived, then surely there was a chance that Jason did too. They would get through this, they would—

Naruto shook his head, causing her rising hopes to plummet. "I'm afraid not, nobody else has been found or recovered within the past week," he told her with absolute certainty. It was a fact he knew to be true, for more reasons than one.

No! It couldn't be, Jason couldn't be dead, not after all this.

He would come for her, she knew he would. It was just a matter of time, he would.

Wouldn't he?

End chapter.
