Robbie had worked so hard to have any real control over his life. From his issues with Rex, who was still around despite the fact that high school was now a memory, to his parental issues, Rob had done just about everything he could to be independent. He'd focvused, believing that, with control over his own life, maybe he'd finally be happy.

Funny how that rarely works out the way people plan.

"Rob, what're you gonna be doing while I'm in the studio recording?" Cat asked, her mind elsewhere. They'd played around at romance after Hollywood Arts, through his time in collage, her having chosen not to go. He majored in undecided, up until business sounded like the best option. However, despite his last in his class graduation, he hadn't landed that major gig. Instead, he played at being a comic, but without Rex, he was required to share a lot of himself on stage. He did far better with self humiliation on line, where he was gaining a following. Just, now, nearly a decade after Hollywood Arts, he hadn't yet broken through to where his hobbies could support him, let alone a wife.

"Oh, I have some new stuff I was thinking of recording, then I need to edit…" He said, trying to sound like it was causal, and not the deeply needed work he'd put in to get some level of success. He felt he needed it, because of his one moment of triumph, and how that triumph landed him in an odd, wonderful and terrifying and somehow unmaning position.

"Oh, okay then." Cat nodded. "I'll be back by dinner. Don't worry, I should have time to cook us something. You just focus on whatever you're doing, and don't let Rex bully you too much. I swear, I love him, but he's a problem sometimes." She started to head out to where a waiting car would whisk her away, only to hesitate. "And remind him, he can't have his Northridge girls in MY house. I tried, I really did, but if he can't party responsibly, then he can't party at all."

He smiled, loving so much about the one time simple girl. Even then, she wasn't the most assertive of people. There was something about Cat, so easy to mistake for stupid, but in reality a side effect of whatever crazy dominated her family, that was often enduring to the Jewish boy.

"Love you." Echoed back to him as she raced out to the waiting car, simple because she disliked anyhting more than a town car, and she was gone. The studio's hated Uber, and had a similar feeling about Lyft. Both services did a poor job of background checks. The result, they used chauffeur driven town cars, safe and bonded, with the drivers often doubling as bodyguards for the valued celebrities they drove. It gave Rob a brief sense of comfort knowing his girl was safe, because Cat was a celebrity.

'God, why does she need ANOTHER album so soon?' Rob wondered. They'd finally gotten together after she'd spent the six years after graduation recording and touring, to the point where two of the three albums were recorded along the way of her tour. 'I mean, she has all the money she'll ever need. Plus, she keeps talking about crossing over, acting. Maybe she should talk to someone, see about getting a part…'

He knew it was useless. Cat wanted to work. She loved the constant fun of touring, until she decided she wanted to settle down. She'd tried, dated around the A list, but after one too many guys used her, she sought out the nerdy boy who once obsessed over her, and in less then three weeks, managed to get him to propose to her. 'People never believe me when I say she can be manipulative. Not the most so, but she has friends, like Sam, who help her achieve some goals. Plus, Trina as a manager, never saw that coming. Hell, I was with the majority, including Tori, who were so sure Trina would just take advantage. Instead, she manages to keep Cat safe, except for matters of the heart, cause why the holy hell did she choose me?'

It was one of the many lingering threads that bothered him even as he sought to be more then Mister Catarina Valentine. How he was struggling, in business, in life, and in his comedy, and Cat just swooped in, won his heart all over again, and married him. Cat even has a plan, all lined up, for children and family and possibly converting to the Jewish faith, just as long as they accept Jesus as their personal savior. All those plans, mixed in with her special but functional crazy, and her place as one of the bigger pop stars of her generation. Cat was such a major force, Rob felt like he was almost not there, just some speck being dragged along in her wake.

'It only gets worse when she gets home and goes all domestic and chiz…' He thought as he prepared to edit. Making content was easy enough. The boy was creative, and while there were only so many ways to humiliate himself for laughs, he'd branched out into skits and other comedy sketches. His following was continuing to rise. 'Cat, I want to be more in this partnership. Only, how can I, when you cook, and bring home the pay, and hire someone to help clean the place, cause I try, I really do, but I can only do so much…'

Not sure what else to do, and not wanting to edit quite yet, he put in a call to the next piece of emasculating convenience he had, his own manager. "Trina, it's Rob. I don't get it, why is it so hard for me to edit. Also, are we sure no one better isn't trying to win themselves Cat's heart?" He left the message, not expecting a response. After all, he was the charity case, taken on because her biggest client was married to him.

A short time later, he got a response. "Okay, by the numbers. I keep telling you, as soon as you can afford it, get an editor. OR, and don't shoot this one down, let Cat pay the editor, cause she's so willing too. Just, we both like the show, and feel that you, not the best at judging which of your stuff to cut. A professional editor will make that so much better. Now, on to B, which is why the holy hell I pushed her into reconnecting, and that was, in her world, everyone is a user, and I needed her to have a home to go back to where she could just be Cat. It's the same reason you don't cook, cause we both know, from that on line show you did, you're one of the few of Tori's circle who could. Only, her cooking, taking care of you, that's her taking care of herself. That's just who Cat is. Now man up, cause you're the life Cat needs to counter balance her fame and fortune. I'll have someone drop by later, after Cat's home, to go over some options I've found for you…" The business talk was nice, But Rob had to agree, his biggest problem was that to the world he was Mister Catarina Valentine, and for some odd reason, he just wasn't okay with that any more.

Not that he wanted to change that part of his life. He just wanted more, somehow. To feel like more of an equal. Only, with a force like Cat, how can anyone feel like an equal...

Thoughts? Kinda like this one. I have another Robbie story coming up later. Review.
