Jade was still trying to figure out just what she was thinking when she'd agreed to this. 'Beck was gonna offer, and I had to act. Only, he's Canadian, and wasn't planning on celebrating our holiday, so maybe he was, but now... was he trying to trick me?'
Regardless of her thoughts, the die had been cast, and in a short time she'd be hosting the Vega sisters for Thanksgiving. 'They said something about their parents heading out of town, and Hollywood Arts only gets the two days off, so they weren't able to go with. Not sure about that, but…' The pale girl again wondered how she'd been tricked into this, but had no time. Instead, she got back to making sure her turkey was cooked, and the other dishes that went with were ready.
Jade didn't think of herself as a great cook. However, even Beck had to agree, she could follow directions, make food, even make wonderful dishes. However, Jade had the incredibly bad habit of only comparing herself to the best, or the best available, and as Cat was a better cook, she compared herself to the petite girl. 'And you're helping out at Elderly Acres, so that's your Thanksgiving. Cooking and eating with the ancient. Of course, that includes your grandmother, so I can forgive that. If only you weren't leaving immediately after, flying out on Black Friday to visit your brother in Idaho… I miss my friend. Even if you can be a total spaz, and want to breed with Robbie, assuming you can find some way to do so without actually touching him..' Still, the thought sent a shudder down her spine.
A knock at the door brought Jade out of her deep thoughts, and sent her scurrying. 'Can't be them. I'm not dressed yet, and I need to make sure… When I spaced out, did I let something burn?' Jade asked herself, even as she rushed to check the door. Tori and her talentless sister were waiting outside, in what was actually a decent enough neighborhood, even if it had both a registered sex offender and two youth group homes, the latter spaced just far enough apart to not violate some obscure California law meant to keep from clustering such businesses to close together. However, despite those hints that this lower middle class neighborhood was dangerous, they actually were in neutral territory as far as the gangs were concerned, and the crime rate was low.
Jade just hated to admit the neighborhood was anything less than a war zone, lease her friends come by and visit her too often.
"Come in quick, before the kids down the street see you." Jade snapped. "Some of them are gang affiliated, and were removed from their homes, and you just don't need the drama."
"My, what a lovely home…" Trina started, only to stop. Inside, the smallish home was actually lovely, with a homey feeling that felt out of place belonging to anyone related to Jade. "So, um, thanks for inviting us. We brought a gift for, I guess your mother?"
"You'll have to wait for her to come back from her visit with her boyfriends family." Jade told them. "Jason and Freddy are also with their fathers, which hurts, cause with Jason, that's my dad too. Only, as you know, we have us some friction. Grandma had t push things, two years ago, and now I'm not welcome at holiday meals…"
"Is Beck coming?" Trina asked, hope in her eyes.
"Hos family doesn't celebrate American thanksgiving, but they do celebrate a four day weekend." Jade explained. "So no, he's in Canada."
"So it's just us, huh?" Tori asked.
"Yep, just us." Jade confirmed. "I made enough. I mean, I kinda had too. Turkey and mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, with maple, and sides and everything. Even made stuffing, in case you were stuffing people. Of course, if your ethnic food people, not much I can do for you…" Her eyes focused on the two. "Should I have gotten a ham instead?"
"No, we're good." Tori promised.
"So, Jade, you and Beck…" Trina edged.
"Don't you dare go there." Jade growled.
"His text said they were broken up, but only because they had some minor issues, and weren't sure what to do." Tori told her sister. Then, to Jade she added "He texted me when I told him you actually invited us."
"Let me see." Jade said.
"I don't think…" Tori started, only her phone had disappeared from her pocket. "I hate it when you do that."
"It's okay, she won't know how to open it…" Trina told her sister.
"And it's open." Jade said. "Tori, you need to lock your phone, or just about anyone can look through and…" Her blue eyes narrowed. "What the hell…?"
"I don't know." Tori breathed out. "Just glad you performed up to expectations, cause you'd have never believed me if I'd told you."
"Told he what?" Trina asked.
"Beck sent me instructions on where the queen of the damned likes to be touched." Tori explained to her sister.
"Like he knows." Jade spat. "I didn't invite you here to seduce you."
"I know, you invited us here cause you were worried Beck would, and then he'd hook up with me, and then…" Tori hesitated. "Treen, this doesn't look good for anyone, but Beck and Jade, they may have broken up because the last time Jade accused beck of wanting me, at least according ti Sinjin, but he told me that Beck retaliated by claiming that jade was the one obsessed with me, and that led to the breakup, and the invitation, and this text, which I assume meant…" She looked for the right words.
Trina smiled a huge smile. "Jade that dinner smells wonderful. You'll make a great addition to our family, cause while Tori here can cook, somehow most of her recipes go sideways. As for me, when you have as much talent as I have, you don't have to cook, though to let you in on a secret, I can. I just don't like too. Still, thanks for having us, and after dinner, I'll just amuse myself with whatever movies you may have laying around, and you and my sister can go someplace and maybe watch the scissoring, before you start…"
"TRINA!" Tori screeched. "Enough. Why is it everyone thinks were gonna…" She couldn't bring herself to finish, calming herself down visibly for several seconds.
"Yea." Jade agreed. "I'm not the kind of girl to put out on a fist date…" Her smile was sly, as she felt she was again teasing her rival. Only, that lit a fire under the way to embarrassed Tori, who made it her mission to seduce the busty goth before the night was through.

My story for Thanksgiving got way to long, so it won't be in Tales of the Woods. I wrote this today as a persona challenge. Not great, but it will do. Didn't edit it though, so sorry about that. Thoughts?
