I am soooo sorry! I never intended to take such a long break. Life happened, new job, mom of two and going back to school... but no excuses.

If you are still hanging around, I really appreciate it!

That being said I can't promise that I will update every day, but I have the next three chapters outlined and just have to write the actual meat of the story. I by no means have left this story and will keep updating until there is no more season 4 to update and I am forced to wait until season 5.

All errors are mine and I fully accept.

"You can't say it was nothing." Steve groaned.

"Steve..." I sighed, turning on the water in the bathroom sink and leaning on the counter heavily. After the nightmare, Steve held me and calmed me down, and he waited until the sun came up to finally ask what happened. "Can we please just let it go."

"Let it go?" he asked, coming to stand in the doorway leaning on the frame with his arms crossed. "Roni... this isn't the first nightmare you've had, you nearly passed out yesterday when I picked you up, you've been off. What aren't you telling me?"

"Nothing Steve!" I exclaimed.

"Roni!" He grabbed my arm to stop me from walking away. His hard expression softened, and guilt washed over me. "Please just talk to me."

"About what Steve?" I asked.

"Whatever is happening… it's not normal."

"I'm not normal!" I said loudly and Steve let my arm go surprised. "Steve I am a messed-up science experiment gone wrong, for all we know I am a ticking time bomb, and this is just the fuse... I don't know what's going on. I don't know what you want me to tell you."

"I want you to stop pushing me away." he stated, a hurt scowl on his face.

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about..." he threw his hands in the air before running them through his hair frustrated. "I am here, I am right here, and you act like you are alone and have to do it alone."

"Steve..." I sighed.

"Veronica... I..." He met my eye and I scowled at him confused, but he just shook his head. "Forget it, I have to get to work."

"Steve." But he grabbed his jacket off the chair by the door and shut the door. "Shit." I groaned and sat down on the couch putting my head in my hands. Closing my eyes, I tried to focus on what El had told me, tried to reach out hoping to find her. "I could really use your help El." I whispered finally giving up and opening my eyes and laying back on the couch.

STEVE POV

I needed a distraction; work was supposed to be the distraction. But it was hard to focus. A few feet away behind the building was the apartment I stayed in with her, with the girl I fought monsters with, that I cared about, that I had sat beside in the hospital twice, who had woken up screaming in the middle of the night. The panic on her face, the tears that streamed down her face... I wasn't sure what she had seen or dreamed about, but it was clear it was more than just a normal headache, I was sure about that.

'i'm not normal.' That's what she'd said. She was right, she wasn't, and I didn't care.

"And then Vicki laughed... and it wasn't like a fake laugh." Robin was talking about her and Vicki's talk at the basketball game. I aimlessly nodded and followed her as we put movies back on the shelf. "It was like a … it was a real genuine laugh."

"Of course, she laughed Robin, it's my Muppet joke." I shrugged. "It's hilarious." I remember telling her the joke at the mall when we were puking out whatever drugs the Russians had given us.

"My point is that Vicki laughed, and everything was just like...it was perfect." Robin sighed and I looked up to see her smile before watching it drop.

"But?"

"But I'm having this problem where, it's like, I should stop talking I have said everything I need to say, but then I guess I get nervous, and the words keep spilling out, and it's like my … my brain is moving faster than my mouth or... Or rather my … my mouth is moving faster than my brain. And it's like I'm digging this hold for myself. And I want to stop digging. I'm trying to stop but I can't..." I stopped and watched as she rambled, her hands moving as she talked. Crossing my arms, I waited for her to look up at me, when she did, she cringed. "...and I'm doing it right now."

"Yeah, you are." I nodded, leaning against the wall.

"I'm hopeless." she sighed standing beside me.

"Hmm, we both are." I breathed and closed my eyes.

"You okay?" Robin asked but I just shrugged. "Roni?"

"Somethings going on, but... she won't talk to me." I said.

"I mean she's been through a lot." Robin said shrugging and I scowled following her towards the counter. "I mean think about it, everyone she's cared about has died or left. I mean El, Mrs. Byers, Jim..."

"But I haven't." I argued. "I'm right there and still, it's like she doesn't want me there..."

"Of course she wants you there." Robin interrupted, turning to me quickly and shaking her head sympathetically. "Dude... she's scared." before I could respond though a news anchor started talking on the TV above the desk pulling our attention towards it.

"We're in the Forest Hills Trailer Park in East Roane County." The anchor stated. "We don't have a lot of details right now, but we can confirm that the body of a Hawkins High student was discovered early this morning. Police have not released the name …"

"Holy shit." I breathed out walking behind the counter and crossing my arms as I watched the small screen.

"Although we are told they're currently in the process of notifying the family." The anchor continued and I shook my head. Hawkins couldn't catch a break, and I would be lying if Roni didn't cross my mind, then. If I hadn't seen her this morning, I would have instantly thought it was her they were talking about. The amount of luck she's had... there was also a part of me that knew there was a connection between the recent headaches and the dead teenager.

RONI POV

Saturdays were busy days. They were days that usually went by quickly, especially when you worked in an arcade. But today, the day dragged on and the chimes from the games and noise from the kids around me didn't help with the dull ache in my head and the anxiety I felt about what had happened this morning with Steve.

He was always there, had always been there. I had started relying on him being there and that scared the shit out of me, because it just meant more heartbreak later. I was self-sabotaging I knew it, but it's like couldn't stop it, couldn't keep it from happening.

By the afternoon there was only a handful of kids on the games, and I was at the counter tapping my pen on the counter absently listening to the tv behind me. It was all white noise until I heard the news anchor talk about a high schooler's death and the trailer park. Turning to watch the screen, I could feel the blood drain from my face as I thought back to the dream I had had. About Chrissy... they hadn't said that's who it was, but something told me they didn't need to confirm my suspicions.

"Damn, but I mean it's not surprising with all the weird stuff that's happened." Keith said behind me, and I turned to scowl at him. "Oh look, your groupies." turning I followed his pointed finger to the door as Max and Dustin came in. "They pay, no free games."

"Roni!" Dustin said out of breath, and I raised an eyebrow curiously. He nodded outside where Max was holding the door. When I didn't respond right away, he continued to strain his neck making a grunt each time. Rolling my eyes, I got up and walked around the counter.

"Keith, I'm on break." I didn't wait for his response and ignored the groaning behind me as I followed Dustin and Max outside and off to the side. Scowling against the sun I leaned against the brick wall of the arcade and crossed my arms. In quick succession Dustin started explaining everything from Eddie's trailer and Chrissy to Max and the lights and by the end I was pinching the bridge of my nose as I processed the information.

"Okay, so you saw Eddie and Chrissy go in the trailer." I repeated, looking at Max.

"Yes." she nodded.

"And what happened after that?" I asked. I knew I was asking them to repeat everything but if I was going to pull a trigger, I had to be sure.

"The TV fuzzed out and all the lights started to flicker and then..." she paused, and I looked up at her and she hesitated before continuing. "... Then I heard Eddie scream and he left... but I mean the power goes off all the time, you know, it's a trailer park and it's a piece of shit... but... I don't think … Eddie … he wouldn't, and he was scared I … I could see that … I don't think he did it."

"We..." Dustin cut in. "We don't think he did it."

"We think... that maybe..." Max said and looked at Dustin.

"I mean it's a bunch of weird stuff that you know it might mean..." Dustin continued, and I took a deep breath and looked up, knowing what he was trying to say.

"It's something else." I answered and both kids looked at me surprised. "I'm pretty sure you're right."

"Wait you think so too?" Dustin asked, almost excited.

"How?"

"Look we don't know for sure what's happening." I ignored Max's question and stood up straighter.

"There's only one person that knows what happened." Dustin said looking between us.

"And from the sounds of it he's MIA." I sighed.

"Back track for a second, how do you know it's something else?" Max tried again.

"Who else have you told?" again I ignored her question and looked at Dustin.

"No one else." he shook his head. "Anyone we would tell is on vacation, I mean Will and Mike are with El and Jim..." his voice trailed off as he stopped himself from continuing, "Sorry."

"Okay." I nodded chewing on my lip looking to the store adjoining the arcade. "Shit. Alright come on." I instructed and started walking to the video store already regretting involving Steve and Robin.

"Don't you have to tell Keith you're leaving?" Max asked looking over her shoulder.

"He'll be fine." I shook my head and pushed the door open to the store. "We need to find Eddie and we need help doing it."

"Hey Steve." Dustin called as he walked up to the counter.

"You guys see this?" Steve asked, his voice trailing off once he saw me follow them in. His eyes followed me, and he scowled. There were a lot of things unsaid in that one look, things we needed to talk about but neither of us knew how to start.

"How many phones do you have?" Dustin asked ignoring Steve's question.

"Someone was murdered." Steve disregarded Dustin's question and kept his eyes on my as he spoke aimlessly pointing to the TV over his shoulder.

"How many phones do you have?" Dustin repeated himself and it seemed to snap Steve from our staring contest.

"Two why?" He answered scowling at the kid.

"Technically three, if you count Keith's in the back." Robin corrected. Dustin looked at Max and nodded.

"Yeah, three works." she agreed and before anyone could ask or say anything else Dustin threw his backpack over the counter and jumped up knocking the stack of movies over in the process.

"Dustin." I groaned, reaching out like I was going to stop him.

"No, no, no... my tapes, dude!" Steve exclaimed. "What are you doing man?"

"Setting up base of operations here." Dustin explained and I scowled leaning on the counter shaking my head as Steve met my eyes.

"I said we needed help, not disrupt their work counter." I groaned.

"Help for what?" Steve asked, looking over his shoulder at Dustin groaning loudly as the kid started typing on the computer.

"What base of operations?" Robin added.

"Get off of that." Steve demanded, trying to pull Dustin off the computer.

"No I need it."

"For what..."

"Looking up Eddie's friends' phone numbers." Dustin sighed.

"Oh, Eddie. Your new best friend you think is cooler because he plays your nerdy game?" Steve asked and I had to bite my lip to keep from grinning and laughing at the comment. I walked around the counter with Max and went right to Robin to help her with the items that had fallen on the floor.

"I never said that." Dustin defended.

"Seriously, you guys maybe on Monday you can play around, but its Saturday it's our busiest day..." Robin complained, and I knelt and handed her a few tapes. "What the hell is going Roni?"

"Dustin, you have to explain before you start dictating what's going on?" I sighed, giving Robin a sympathetic look.

"Look this cannot wait." Dustin groaned and I just rolled my eyes standing up with Robin as Steve walked over.

"Will someone tell us what's going on?" Robin asked.

"Look I don't have time for this." Dustin said, turning around to look at me briefly. "Will you just fill them in while I do this."

"Are you..." I started glaring at him, but he turned around quickly before I could protest more.

"Fill us in on what?" Robin asked and as I continued to glare at the back of Dustin's head and I shook my head before looking at Robin and Steve, both of whom were staring at me waiting. With a sigh I explained to them what the news had said and what Max had told me. She chimed in and explained what she saw in more detail and as she spoke, I jumped up and sat on the counter putting my head in my hands and rubbed my forehead.

I wasn't up for talking on the phone, so I opted to help stock the shelves for Robin while she took over calling everyone and their mother to find Eddie. Placing a few tapes on the shelves I zoned in and out thinking about the news anchor report, the vision of the forest and the clock, Chrissy and the monster in my dream. I was so caught up in my own thoughts I didn't hear Steve come up behind me reaching over my shoulder to put a tape away. Jumping, I dropped the tape I had been placing down and bumped into, his hand coming up to my arm to hold me up right.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." he said softly.

"It's okay." I shook my head, bending down to pick up the video.

"So, this... does it have something to do with last night?" he asked quietly leaning down with me. I didn't move any further, my hand on top of the tape.

"I don't know." I said quietly, standing up and turning back to the shelf, before trying to walk away.

"Veronica," he said reaching for my arm and stepping closer to me. "I can see you thinking about it. Just... if it is connected then we should tell them."

"I had a nightmare, that's its Steve." I finally looked at him, and I could see the pain of my being closed off was doing to him. "Right now, we don't know what happened, so … it's just a dream, and that's it." He held my arm for a moment longer before sighing and dropping his hand to help a customer that had come into the store. I felt guilty, but if I told him, he would be scared for everyone, for himself, for me... that fear, I didn't want to be the cause of his fear, he should see me and be happy and see hope, so I was pushing him away a bit, trying to hold onto the happy and the carefree for as long as I could.

"Hey guys, I might have a lead." Max called and I pulled my eyes away from Steve and walked back to the counter leaning on it.

"Seriously?" Dustin questioned excitedly.

"Yeah," Max nodded." Apparently, Eddie gets his drugs from some guy named Reefer Rick and sometimes Eddie crashed there."

"That's promising." Robin smiled putting her phone down and turning in the seat she was on to look at Max.

"Th problem is he is a recluse." I rolled my eyes and saw Max nod. "Reefer Rick is a legend or myth. People talk about him but no one really knows who he is or where he is."

"How do you know who he is?" Dustin asked raising an eyebrow with a goofy smirk on his face.

"I was the quiet kid no one noticed that sat in the back of the room." I answered unamused. "Drug dealers sit in the back too, you pick up on a few things."

"Right..." he nodded with a slight cringe. "Okay, well do we know his last name?"

"Ah, no." Max shook her head.

"Bet the cops know the last name." Steve said and I looked over at him, he wasn't really looking at us just focused on the cardboard stand beside him, trying to straighten it out.

"What?" Max questioned.

"Cops," he repeated shrugging and walking towards the counter, leaning beside me arms crossed in front of him. "I mean listen if this Reefer Rick is actually a drug dealer, then I guarantee he's been busted at some point it means he's in the system.

"The cops?" Dustin asked in disbelief. "Really Steve, that's your suggestion?"

"I mean I just think at this point they should be filled on... on what we know... on what's going on." Steve shrugged, looking innocently at the group.

"You think Eddie's guilty?" Dustin asked suspiciously. "Don't you."

"Whoa." Steve was quick to put his hands up defensively. "I believe in innocence until proven guilty and all that constitutional shit. I just you know, don't think we can rule it out."

"That's precisely what we're trying to do here Steve." Max stated frustrated.

"Look..." I spoke up stopping any further argument and all eyes turned to me. I forced myself to look up, avoiding their gaze while I processed my next statement. "If this is what … Dustin if you're right... and I really hope you're not..." I made a pointed glance at the teenage boy who seemed to understand looking down slightly. "... if we're right, there is only one cop that we would trust and who would know how to fix this and he's... he's not here." I tried to keep my voice from wavering as I said it, thinking about Jim as I spoke. Bending my head between my shoulders I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. "So, for right now, we are on our own."

"I think I have an idea." Robin said after a moment, and she turned on the stool and started typing on the computer. "Maybe we don't need a last name." she mumbled, and I turned to Steve who shrugged following me behind the counter. Standing behind Robin I read the screen over her shoulder as she typed RICK into the search screen. "Twelve Ricks have accounts here."

"That's a lot of Ricks." Max commented.

"So, let's narrow it down." Robin said clicking on the first name. "Rick Alderman's latest rentals are Annie and Dumbo."

"Family man." I said shaking my head. "I'm thinking it's not our drug dealer."

"All right, Rick Conroy," Robin continued on, "Sixteen candles, Teen wolf, Romancing the stone..."

"No." we all simultaneously answered. As Steve leaned closer to the screen, I felt his hand on my shoulder, his thumb rubbing up and down causing my tense muscles to relax slightly. I felt my lips curl in a small smile and leaned back slightly, just enough to let him know that I knew he was there, knew what he was doing.

"Rick Joiner... Mask, Footloose and Greece." Again, we all shook our heads.

"Rick Kimbrough... Blue Lagoon and Splash."

"Definitely not." Max answered quickly.

"Okay. Rick Lipton," Robin sighed, "Fast times at Ridgemont High, Cheech & Chong's next movie, Cheech and Chong's Nice Dreams, Cheech and Chong's up in smoke..."

"Bingo." Dustin said.

"Rick Lipton," I nodded.

"2121 Holland Road." Robin read it out.

"That's out by Lover's Lake." Dustin stated as we all stepped away from the computer.

"Middle of nowhere."

"It's a perfect place to hide." Robin added.

It didn't take long for us to work our way out the door. Robin trailing out last to lock the door. Standing at Steve's car I hesitated before getting in the back with Max and Dustin, letting Robin take the passenger seat. As we drove the headache from the morning was coming back, bring small throbs that made my eyes water. Looking out the window I tried to focus on the fading light of the day and the trees as we passed them. Another throb made me wince and blink, but as I did an image on the side of the road made me scowl. Turning my head, I stared at an old grandfather's clock and in the distance heard the chimes as they rang out.

"Roni." Max nudged me causing me to turn away from the road surprised. When I looked back the clock was gone. Looking over at Max, she was scowling at me and pointed to my nose. Reaching up I touched right below it and pulled it back revealing red.

"Shit." I cursed under my breath wiping it away quickly before giving her a small smile. As I looked up Steve was watching me in the rear-view mirror. I could only hold the gaze for a few seconds before I had to pull my eyes away, going back to the dark trees outside. The rest of the ride was silent. When we arrived at the address, we all filed out of the car and Dustin was quick to walk up to the door. Steve followed behind but gave me a sideways glance before forcing himself to leave me at the bottom of the front steps. As quiet as it was around the area, it was interrupted by Dustin continuously ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door.

"Okay well that settles it, I guess he's not here." Steve sighed.

"Eddie!" Dustin yelled and I cringed.

"Great." Steve threw up his hands and rolled his eyes.

"It's Dustin!" Dustin yelled and I rubbed my forehead. "Look we just wanna talk okay! No cops, I swear we just wanna help." Max was standing off to the side her flashlight pointed at the house. Ignoring the constant calling of Dustin and arguing of Steve I walked towards her.

"You okay?" I asked stuffing my hands in my pockets as I stood beside her.

"Hmm..." she hummed before looking at me and giving me a false smile. "Yeah."

"Okay you want to try that again, with a little more conviction?" I asked smirking at her.

"What?"

"I know a lie when I hear one." I answered giving her a knowing look. "You've been quiet and nervous and... I can see something going on, I could see it at school..."

"I'm fine." she tried again. "What about you?"

"Excuse me?"

"You have been rubbing your head non-stop, your nose bled in the car and Steve keeps looking at you like you're going to drop..." she explained, and I opened my mouth but closed it unsure how to answer. "Yeah, see... I see things too... hey guys!" Max called, her light pointing in the direction of a boat shed a few yards away.

Walking towards the shed I leaned up and looked into a window, Steve coming up behind me shining his flashlight through the window.

"What happened in the car?" he whispered; his lips close to my ear.

"Nothing."

"Really?" He hissed, and I sighed.

"I thought I saw something on the side of the road and my nose bled." I answered.

"And you don't think that's weird?" He asked and followed me as we walked to the door.

"I don't know what to think..."

"The headaches, the nose bleeds... Roni." he sighed slowly turning me around to face him, looking at the others briefly making sure they weren't nearby. "I don't know a lot about all that happened in that place, but I know that those are signs of your abilities being used, I know the signs just like you. Why won't you tell me what's going on? What is going on?"

"I..." I started but Robin pushing the shed door open pulled my attention away.

"Hello?" she called. Before he could argue I stepped away from Steve and to Robin, following behind her, "Is anyone home?"

"What a dump," Steve commented catching me by surprise to find him moving past me further into the shed grabbing an oar from the wall hitting the tarps in the center of the room.

"What are you doing?" Dustin whispered loudly. When there was no response, he repeated himself. "What are you doing?"

"He might be in here." Steve answered.

"So, take the tarp off."

"If you're so brave you take the tarp off." Steve shot back and I giggled, meeting his eyes briefly.

"Hey look over here." Max called. Robin and I walked over to her looking at wrappers and cans lying on a box.

"Someone was here." I nodded.

"Maybe he heard us, got spooked and ran," Robin offered.

"Don't worry." Dustin said with a smile. "Steve will get him with his oar."

"Ah... see I know you think you're being funny Henderson but considering everyone in this room has nearly died a hundred times." Steve said without looking at the teenager. I started walking towards them as he continued with the oar. "Personally, I don't find it funny in the slight..." but he couldn't finish his sentence. Eddie jumped out up from his hiding place going after Steve pushing him back into the wall behind him. Everyone yelled, including myself, as we watched Eddie hold a broken bottle to Steve's neck.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Steve yelled, trying to get Eddie to put down his weapon.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, Eddie stop!" Dustin tried but there wasn't any sign that Eddie was going to back down.

"What the hell are you doing!" I called out running around and yanking Eddie back towards Dustin and moving towards Steve. Instinctively his arms wrapped around me and pulled me towards him as Eddie held up the bottle again.

"It's us!" Dustin tried again. "It's Dustin, that's Steve and Veronica. They aren't going to hurt you. Put the bottle down, we're on your side. I swear on my mother... right guys?"

"Yes... yes we swear..." Max nodded behind Dustin.

"Yep, what he said." I added with Steve nodding his head still holding me away from Eddie. Eddie slowly moved away from us and leaned against the side of the shed dropping the bottle and sliding down, his eyes lost in memories. Looking up at Steve I nodded and pulled away, feeling him hesitate slightly before letting me go. Walking over to Eddie I kneeled beside him Dustin coming up in front of him reaching out to touch him. Eddie jumped and Dustin pulled his back looking at me.

"Eddie, we just want to talk." Dustin tried.

"We want to know what happened." Robin explained and Eddie finally looked up at us, looking over at Robin before looking at Dustin and then me.

"You won't believe me." Eddies voice cracked and I reached my hand up and laid it on his shoulder.

"Wanna bet." I said as his eyes finally focused on me. It didn't take long for Eddie to get going and explain what had happened. And the more he explained the more my mind filtered back to my nightmare, to what I had seen. I backed away from him. The dull ache from the ride over was getting worse, the throbbing almost blinding.

"Her body, just... just lifted into the air and uh..." I looked up at him, he didn't look at anyone as he spoke, and he struggled to continue his recount of events. I knew what happened next... I had seen it. "As she hung there, in the air her bones they … uh... they..."

"They snapped..." I answered my voice a whisper, everyone including Eddie looked at me. Swallowing the lump in my throat, my head was pounding harder now. "Her bones snapped, all of them in different angles."

"Yeah..." Eddie nodded tears in his eyes. "And her eyes man, there was like something inside her head pulling... I... I didn't know what to do...so I ran, I left her there."

"Roni..." Steve was beside me concern etching his face as he tried get my attention.

"You all think I'm crazy huh..." Eddie scoffed. I didn't wait for any more of the conversation, I could hear the chiming again of the clock. Backing away I left the shed and walked outside holding my head, squeezing my eyes shut.

"Roni, what's going on?" Steve asked, following me.

"I..." I tried standing up straight, turning to look at him. I tasted blood, and touched my lip, I was bleeding again.

"Veronica?" His voice was strained now as I stumbled. My vision was fading, my head felt like it was about to explode this time. There was no stopping it, no pushing it away.

"I don't think it was a nightmare." I said quietly. The pain that penetrated my skull next came with no additional warning and then everything went dark.

It wasn't like waking up, I was just in one place and then another in the blink of an eye. One moment Steve was beside me and the next I was in the middle of a road. I was surrounded by trees. Breaking glass brought my attention to a burning care in front of me, a person standing several feet away staring at the carnage.

"Fred?" I questioned looking between the kid that had been following Nancy around at school to the car where someone was crying out for help. The crying seemed to freak Fred out and he started walking backwards before falling backwards through the asphalt. I was running towards the giant hole before I knew what was going on, but something stopped me from reaching down to Fred. "What the...?... Fred!" I tried but he couldn't hear me.

"Fred." The distorted voice echoed around me and below me in the hold I could see Fred's eyes widening in fear.

"What do you want?" I heard Fred cry, and I was stuck watching as the figure from the night before stalked up to him. The skeletal figure focused only on the boy in front of him. Standing back, I tried to focus my abilities on Fred, tried to pull him up but nothing happened. I tried the same thing on the figure with no results.

"Shit!" I cried feeling tears falling down my cheeks.

"I want you to join me." The figure stated, raising his hand up. I could hear Fred crying 'no' several times before the hand was directly over his head and Fred was silent. I was frozen as I watched the claws of the red figure embed in Freds head and then I could hear the audible sound of his bones breaking. I hadn't realized I was screaming as I backed away from the hole, my hand over my mouth. I wanted out of this nightmare. I wanted to go back to the shed, back to the arcade, anywhere but here. Turning, I was prepared to run but when I turned the skeletal figure was there turning his head curiously.

"What do you want?" I asked swallowing my fear stepping backwards with each step he made towards me.

"You don't remember." it wasn't a question, he was making a statement, a statement that made me stop and look into the dark eyes of the monster.

"What...?" I was confused but I quickly shook it off, "Why... why are you doing this?"

"To show you." he said, his voice sending chills up my spine, "you have no control." He took a step towards me, but mine felt glued to the ground. "You will not be able to top me." another step. "This will happen."

"What will?" I asked. "Why show me this, why bring me here?"

"We are connected… Veronica…" his voice almost sounded amused. He knew the power held, he was confident and vengeful almost, "I brought you here so you know that you are powerless to stop me… you are nothing compared to me, and you cannot stop me… you have no power and I…I control you." There was a blinding flash of light and images seemed to play in fast forward, fire burning through the town, buildings crumbling, screaming, red sky, ash falling to the ground and then everything was black.
