Corky is up to his old tricks but this time he has a bit of help...

This is the last chapter a bit of fun. I saw this on the Graham Norton show and it was super funny & told myself Corky approved. I do not own the Hunger Games.

Corky watched the old owner of the bakery as he counted his delicious nuts. The baker's family was upstairs with his human and his mate, the scowling one, and their child. Last week the scowling one looked like his mate Shirley did when she was carrying his children. Her belly was round and her non-fury feet were swollen.

The bakery rippled with energy as everyone waited with bated breath for the scowling one to give birth.

Then last night, she went into labor. She gave birth to a female baby that looked like the scowling one but had Peeta's eyes. Every single human that came to visit did the same thing, they 'oooooh' and 'awed' at the sight of the smaller human. Corky didn't understand what the big fuss was over the smaller human. It had a tuft of rich dark hair on top of its head, a round pink face, and it yelled when hungry. Corky thought his fury little nuggets were cuter. But he supposed all parents thought their offspring were the best looking.

However, the birth of his human offspring presented Corky an opportunity. With everyone distracted by the tiny human, it was the perfect time to strike and get some of the baker's nuts.

"35, 36, 37, 38," the baker counted.

His children Timmy and Suzy sat by him. Timmy pointed to the nuts. Corky nodded. Timmy was even more cunning than he was. The plan to get nuts was simple. Timmy would create a distraction while he and Suzy got the nuts. As soon as they were done, Timmy was going to run away.

Timmy looked around, then pointed to the broomstick. Corky tipped his head to his son, wondering what his son was up to. Corky sat back and watched Timmy run around to where the old heavy wooden broomstick lay. There was also a large bucket with a mop and several other crates.

Timmy ran to the buckets that were stacked on top of crates, and he leaned on them and they all fell down creating a large ruckus. Corky then heard the family that was upstairs run toward the stairs.

"Dad!" His human shouted and soon everyone ran downstairs.

His son Timmy did not run, instead, he took the broomstick put it on his belly, and lay back on the floor.

Corky couldn't believe what he was watching. Suzy tapped his shoulder and he realized this was his chance. He and his daughter scampered down and began to gather nuts quickly.

Timmy looked up and heard the people coming down the stairs. In the distance, he saw Corky and his sister quickly collecting the nuts. He laid his head back down and pretended to be dead.

"Eugene are you okay," Boudica asked. "Oh no. Peeta, look!"

"Dad, what did you do?" His father's human asked.

"Nothing. It must have fallen on top of him…" the baker said, pointing to Timmy.

Timmy cracked one eye open and saw that his father needed more time so he took the broomstick and put it on his neck while the humans were discussing what to do with him.

"Did that broomstick move?" Eugene asked.

"Dad, seriously," Peeta said.

"No, I think that broomstick was across his chest and now it's on his neck."

"Dad it probably rolled…"

Peeta put himself in front of his father. Timmy quickly slid the broomstick a little down.

"It moved again," Eugene said.

"Dad, I'm going to get a shovel," Peeta said.

"Son, I'm telling you that these squirrels are up to something."

"Let me guess they're going to steal your nuts!" Peeta snickered.

"Yes, they are!" Eugene exclaimed.

Peeta walked out and so did the baker. Timmy immediately got up and saw that his father and Suzy were gone. He sat up and put his paws on his head when Peeta came back. Timmy pretended to be stunted, screamed, and then made his way out of the bakery. This was the plan all along to steal the baker's nuts.

"See dad, you scared him away."

"Okay son," Eugene said but when he went back to counting his nuts he noticed the amount was lower. He looked behind him at the broomstick. "It couldn't be…"

Eugene was bested once more.

But, yet again, it was after all Corky, and as Eugene discovered, he was a squirrel that was smarter than the average human.
