[ ACT I ]
In Kaori's school. The bell rings. Kaori grabs her bag and runs. Eri, Yuka and Ayumi are cleaning the classroom.
Eri: (holds up a blackboard duster) Hold it, Kaori! You're on clean-up duty, too!
Kaori: (stops) I have to meet someone! Sorry, please overlook it this time!
Yuka: Someone? As in, boy?
Ayumi: Oh dear…
Kaori: I already told you, there's no one like that! (looks at her watch) I'll make it up to you!
Kaori rushes off. The door of the classroom suddenly opens and Hojo walks in. Kaori bumps into him. A bamboo thingy falls out of the present in Hojo's hand. It falls onto the floor. Kaori looks at Hojo.
Hojo: It's good for your health. Step on it.
Kaori: Hojo?!
Eri: He seems nice…
Yuka: But a bit individualistic.
Ayumi: Hmm…
Hojo: Do you like movies, Higurashi? Wanna go… Just you and me?
Kaori: Huh?!
Yuka, Eri and Ayumi rush to Kaori's side and pulls her away excitedly.
Yuka: Hey!
Eri: Kaori!
The four of them stand in a corner of the classroom.
Kaori: You mean, as in a date?
Ayumi: What'll you do, Kaori?!
Yuka: Will you go?
Eri: Why don't you, Kaori? You've never been on a date, have you?
Kaori: Huh?!
Ayumi: Have you really, truly, never been on a date?!
Kaori: (stutters and shouts) Don't be silly! Of course, I've…! (thinking seriously) …never been on a date…
Cut to Kaori standing next to Hojo, circling her shoe on the ground nervously.
Kaori: I guess I'll go.
Hojo: Really? (walking out of the classroom) Okay then, this Saturday. It's a date!
Kaori: Huh?! (thinking) Darn! I'm off to the other world… What was I think, making a promise like that?!
Fade to the Dry Well. Inuyasha stands on the rim of the Dry Well. Kaori is carrying her heavy haversack.
Kaori: Umm… Do you think I can come back on Saturday?
Inuyasha: I don't see why not.
Kaori: Really?
Inuyasha: (holds Kaori's haversack, lifting her up) I don't know what day Saturday is, though. (scratches his head)
Kaori: (closes her eyes and sighs) Oh…let's go.
Inuyasha drops Kaori into the well.

[ ACT II ]
Inuyasha, Kaori and Shippo are in a boat, traveling on a river.
Kaori: (looks in the distance, exclaiming) It feels so good! (points in the water) Look, fish!
Inuyasha: Hey, Kaori! We're not here to have fun!
Kaori: (puts her hand over her eyes) Okay, okay! (in a air-stewardess tone) Let's see…I don't detect any signs of Sacred Jewel fragments here.
Close up of Shippo slouched over the boat, with swirly eyes. He looks unwell and moans.
Inuyasha: Shippo… You're a demon! Don't go getting seasick!
Shippo: I feel terrible!
Inuyasha: Jeepers… No one's taking this seriously! (notices something) Huh?
Kaori: What?
A thick bundle of spider web spans across the river, in front of them.
Inuyasha: Spider webs?
Kaori: Such long strands…
Inuyasha sweeps the web with his hand. A bundle of web sticks onto his hand and he claws at it with his other hand angrily. He glares at the remaining strands and clenches his fist, looking worried.
Myoga: (jumps onto Inuyasha's shoulder) Master Inuyasha, is something wrong?
Inuyasha: Nothing. Huh?
Kaori: Someone!
Pans upwards to reveal a girl on a cliff edge.
Girl: Don't come near!
She walks backwards and a black thing attacks her. She dodges and falls downwards, shrieking. Inuyasha jumps and catches her in his arms. Inuyasha lands on a rock by the river.
Kaori: (snaps her fingers) Nice catch!
The black thing retreats into the forest on the cliff.
Inuyasha: What was that?
Girl: (looks at Inuyasha) Umm… Thank you for… (notices Inuyasha's ears) Let go, you demon!
The girl slaps Inuyasha on his head and Inuyasha loses his balance. Both of them fall into the water.
Kaori sprays antiseptic on the girl's arm which was grazed. They are on land, by the river. Inuyasha, sits by the river and, brushes his clothes angrily. Kaori, Shippo and the girl sit near Inuyasha, around a fire.
Inuyasha: Of all the nerve!
Kaori: Err… What was that just now?
Girl: A demon called the Spider Head. It started living in this mountain just after the spring. Several villages have already been attacked. It traps humans in its web, then devours them. It's a frightening demon!
Kaori: I see… Inuyasha, let's save them.
Inuyasha: Any sign of Sacred Jewel fragments?
Kaori: I didn't sense anything from that Spider Head just now.
Inuyasha: Then let's go… I want to cross the mountain before nightfall. (gets up)
Kaori: But there is a demon! How can we just pass?!
Inuyasha: Hey! I'm not hunting down demons just for goodwill towards man!
Kaori: I know, but… (thinking) Usually, he'd at least check it out.
Girl: (gets up) I'm going home. No way will I be beholden to a demon.
Shippo: He saved you! What an ingrate!
Girl: Shut up! (walks off and climbs up the cliff using a vine) I hate demons!
The girl struggles with the climbing, and the vine snaps. She plops on the ground.
Kaori: (claps her hand, embarrassed) Let's at least see her home.
Evening. The group walks up a staircase leading to a temple. The girl piggybacks on Inuyasha, both of them sulking and refusing to face each other.
Kaori: Huh! It's that temple, right?
An old priest shuffles out of the temple slowly.
Old Priest: Nazuna? Who are these people?
Nazuna: (punches Inuyasha in the face and gets off) Master! (shoves Inuyasha aside and runs to the Master)
Old Priest: Huh?! Were you attacked by the Spider Head?
Nazuna: I went to put flowers on the graves and I've gone and brought these wicked demons to the temple, too… I'm sorry.
Shippo: (irked) Are you still on that?!
Old Priest: Demons, huh?
Inuyasha: Keh! (looks away, in scoffing tone) Calm down! We're leaving right away!
Old Priest: Oh no… You can spend the night at this temple.
Nazuna: Master!
Old Priest: (place his hand on Nazuna's shoulder) Now, go and prepare supper.
Nazuna: (disappointed) Yes. (walks off)
Old Priest: Forgive her rudeness. Nazuna's parents were killed by the Spider Head. I've been taking care of her since…but she has a terrible fear of demons.
Kaori: Umm… Are there a lot of Spider Heads in the area?
Old Priest: As more and more men die in war, the number of Spider Heads seems to increase. In leaps and bounds…
Kaori: Leaps and bounds?! (tugs Inuyasha's sleeve) Say, let's take up his offer to spend the night here.
Inuyasha: (folds arms and look away) Why do I have to let some stupid demon control my life?
Old Priest: I have sealed this temple with sacred sutras, so the Spider Heads cannot enter. You can rest easy.
Kaori: (laughs happily and taps Inuyasha's shoulder) You see!
Inuyasha: (exasperated) I guess I have no choice.
Kaori laughs happily.
Nighttime, in a room in the temple. The group are having dinner.
Shippo: (lies on Kaori's haversack with hands on his tummy and rice on his face) That Nazuna has a sharp mouth, but she sure can cook.
Kaori: Huh?! I thought you disliked her a while ago.
Shippo: Well, a woman who can cook can't be all that bad.
Inuyasha: (looks into the night, worried, thinking) Night has fallen.
Kaori: Say, Inuyasha… Is something the matter?
Inuyasha: No… (Kaori hovers near his face) What?
Kaori: Inuyasha… Could you be… (pauses and Inuyasha gets uptight) Afraid of spiders?!
Shippo: (jumps into the air and changes into a cute spider) Boo…! I'm not a…
Inuyasha grabs Shippo and slams him on the floor.
Kaori: Am I wrong?
Inuyasha: Absolutely!
Inuyasha walks out of the room.
Kaori: Where are you going?
Inuyasha: Shut up! I'm going to sleep alone! (turns around, notices something, thinking) Damn… I'm losing my sense of smell. (pans sideways to reveal many pairs of red eyes peering form the trees and bushes) We're surrounded!
Suddenly, skinny people with long limbs and spider heads jump from the trees and land in front of Inuyasha, Kaori and Shippo.
Kaori: Aghh! Spider Heads!
Two more spider heads appear behind Kaori.
Shippo: (jumps up and latches onto Kaori's arm) This side, too!
Myoga: (on Inuyasha's shoulder, holding a bowl and a soup) There may be many of them, but they're not formidable opponents. It's just a post-meal exercise for you, Master Inuyasha!
Inuyasha: (unsheathes tetsusaiga) Dang that priest! Whatever happened to his sacred sutra seals?!
Cut to Nazuna running hurriedly along a corridor.
Nazuna: Master! Master, the Spider Heads! (finds Old Priest face down on the ground with spider webs all over him) Master!
Cut to Inuyasha-gang. Inuyasha is slashing at some Spider Heads with a rusty tetsusaiga. They spew webs at Inuyasha, who waves them away.
Kaori: Inuyasha!
Inuyasha: Kaori! Shippo! Make your escape!
Kaori: (worried) But…!
Inuyasha: Shut up! I can ward them off alone!
Shippo: (on Kaori's arm, looking worried) What's with him today?
Kaori: Why isn't Tetsusaiga transforming?
More Spider Heads surround Inuyasha and spew webs at him. He has a hard time trying to fend them off. He is mostly covered in web, particularly over his head.
Inuyasha: Damn!
Shippo: Foxfire! (attacks some Spider Heads with foxfire)
The Spider Heads back away and Kaori tries to drag Inuyasha from the scene. She has a difficult time as the web on Inuyasha are also stuck on the ground.
Kaori: Inuyasha!
Shippo: Get away! (burns the web on the ground with foxfire)
Cut to Nzuna and Old Priest. Spider Heads loom in the background.
Old Priest: (struggles weakly) N-Nazuna… The seals have been broken! My sutras can no longer ward off the Spider Heads!
Nazuna: (tears welling) Master… (cries) Master…!
Inuyasha-gang runs in a dark forest. Inuyasha still has some web over his head and hair. They stop in a clearing.
Kaori: I think we're safe now.
Inuyasha: Damn!
Kaori: Inuyasha… What's wrong? (reaches for the web on Inuyasha's head)
Inuyasha: Shut up!
Kaori: Something's wrong with you today! (tugs at the web)
Inuyasha: (pulls away the web) You guys had better worry about yourselves first.
Inuyasha's hair appears black.
Kaori: W-what's happening to your hair?
Inuyasha: (sits under a tree and remove the last bundle of web) If you think I can protect you as usual, you're wrong!
Shippo: (shocked) What's this…?
Kaori: Inuyasha… is that you?
INU: Of course it's me!
Shippo: (plops on Inuyasha's head and tugs) Your dog ears are gone!
Kaori: You look like a human…
Inuyasha: And my fangs and claws are gone, too! (throws Shippo off)
Kaori: What's going on, Inuyasha?
Myoga: (appears on Kaori's shoulder) Half-demons like Master Inuyasha lose their demon power for a period of time.
Kaori: Myoga!
Myoga: Because this is a life-threatening period, half-demons never reveal this weakness to anyone. For Master Inuyasha, it turns out that it is this night of the new month when the moon is dark.
Kaori: When the moon is dark… (cut-scene of the planetary movement of Earth, Moon and the Sun) The start of the new month when the moon isn't visible? And today is that day.
Myoga: (hopping on Inuyasha's shoulder) Master Inuyasha… Why didn't you at least inform me?!
Inuyasha: If you knew, you'd have run off somewhere by now.
Myoga: (pauses and folds his arms defensively) Well… Have you so little faith in me?
Inuyasha: (holds a pointing finger) I have little faith in this period of time!
Kaori: (serious tone) What about me? If I had known about your weakness, I would never have insisted that we journey into this den of demons! Why don't you told me about it?! You don't trust me a little!
Inuyasha: (shouts) I don't trust anyone! (folds his arms and look away) That's how I've lived until now! You have no right to complain!
Kaori: I'm sorry. But… (tears welling) I just thought you could open up to me a little… (starts sobbing)
Inuyasha: (shocked) H-hey! Don't cry!
Kaori: (stops crying suddenly and give him a worried look) You could had told me, and this could't happened and we wouldn't be in this situation, right now!
Inuyasha: What?! I-I just...
KAG: Now, you are in danger right now, dummy!
Shippo: (back facing the two, looking determined and clenching his fists) If Inuyasha is a powerless, mere mortal, I'm the only demon that can protect everyone! I must be strong!
Something rustles in the bushes and Shippo shrieks. He dashes back to Inuyasha and cowers next to him, scared. Inuyasha stretches out a hand to hold Shippo and grabs tetsusaiga.
Shippo: Here they come!
Nazuna appears from the bushes.
Kaori: You…!
Shippo: Nazuna!
Kaori: I'm so glad you're safe!
Nzauna: (falls onto her knees) Please… Please save the priest!
Kaori: What? The priest?
Nazuna: That…that demon is strong, isn't he?
Inuyasha: I thought you said you hated demons? Go rely on that priest's sacred sutras.
Nazuna: What happened to you? You look like…
Inuyasha: Keh! I've just turned human for a while!
Kaori gasps loudly suddenly.
Shippo: What's the matter?
Kaori: I forgot my backpack!
Inuyasha: Forget it!
Kaori: (softly) The Sacred Jewel fragments are in there…
Inuyasha: What?!
Kaori: S-sorry!
Inuyasha: Here! (thrusts tetsusaiga at Kaori) You and Nazuna can wait here! Even if Tetsusaiga won't transform, you can hit Spider Heads on their heads!
KAG: (takes tetsusiga) Inuyasha… Wait...!
Inuyasha: All right, we're going back to the temple, Shippo!
Shippo: (gasps worriedly) Huh?! Me, too? (bows and looks serious)
Cut to close up of Shippo clenching his fist and teeth.
Shippo: (determined) I have to be strong…
Zoom out to reveal Inuyasha walking away from Kaori and Nazuna, grabbing Shippo by his clothes in his hand.
Shippo: Be strong…!
Back in the temple. A hand reach into Kaori's haversack and takes out the container of Sacred Jewels shards. The person laughs. Suddenly, a loud bang is heard and several pieces of wood fly at him. Zoom out to reveal that it is Old Priest who was taking the shards. One of the wood breaks the bottle and the Jewel shards fall onto the ground.
Inuyasha: (appears next to the broken door) Priest! So you are the mastermind behind this!
Old Priest: I heard rumors that a half-demon was roaming around with fragments of the Sacred Jewel…
Old Priest's neck becomes longer and fangs appear around his mouth. Shippo jumps on the ground and grabs the Jewel shards. Before he manages to take all of them, Old Priest stretches his long neck around and crashes the ground near Shippo. He sucks in the four remaining shards. Shippo runs to Inuyasha.
Shippo: (pointing) Darn…he took some of it!
Old Priest: (stretches out his hand and grabs Inuyasha's neck, pinning him on a pillar) And of all the luck…you fell into my trap just when your powers are gone!
Inuyasha: (grabs Old Priest's hand) I may not have any demon power, but my human strength can beat your brains out! (struggles free from Old Priest's grip)
Inuyasha leaps towards Old Priest to attack, but Old Priest spews a bundle of web at Inuyasha, pinning him on the ground.
Shippo: Foxfire! (throws a foxfire at Old Priest's hand, who slaps him into the air)
Inuyasha: Darn! (struggles with the web around him)
Old Priest: Pretending to be human is quite a burden…
Old Priest transforms into his true form, with a hemisphere of web-like limbs around his body. His body is in the middle of the hemisphere. Inuyasha dangles in a web in the hemisphere, unable to move. Shippo cowers on the ground, covering his head with his hands.
Old Priest: Die! (stretches his long neck towards Inuyasha and bites into his shoulder)
Inuyasha winces in pain and his head slowly droops backwards.
Shippo: Inuyasha!
Old Priest: Now then, I'll take the Sacred Jewel fragments!
Shippo: frozen in a trying to escape pose) No…
Old Priest: Then you, too…
Nazuna and Kaori enter the room. Kaori holds tetsusaiga in her hands.
Kaori had a worried expression her face, she was worried for Inuyasha.
Nazuna: Master… Why? (covers her mouth in horror)
Kaori: He tricked you.
Shippo: Kaori… Inuyasha is…!
Inuyasha is frozen and his body is turned sideways in the web.
Kaori: Inuyasha!
Kaori rushes to Inuyasha. Old Priest spews a bundle of web at Kaori, who blocks it with tetsusaiga. The web dissipates.
Myoga: (appears on Kaori's shoulder) Tetsusaiga's powers are at work.
Kaori: If Myoga appears at a time like this, it must mean we have a chance.
Myoga: Huh? What do you mean?
Old Priest: You've taken in quite a bit of my toxin. Soon, you'll start to corrode from the inside!
Nazuna: No… Master…
Kaori climbs up Old Priest's limbs towards Inuyasha.
Inuyasha: (weakly) Kaori… Run…
Kaori: (reaches nearInuyasha) No! I can't leave you!
Inuyasha: Idiot! Listen to me!
Kaori: I REFUSE to run away and leave you behind!
Kaori leaps towards Inuyasha with the tetsusaiga outstretched. Tears glisten and flow out from her eyes. Inuyasha is shocked to see her crying. Kaori dissipates the web tangling Inuyasha with the tetsusaiga and they both land on the floor, near Shippo and Nazuna.
Kaori: Hurry, outside! (looks at the door)
Shippo: (Spider Heads gather near the door) Not outside!
Nazuna: (pointing) There's a small room in the back of the main hall!
The group starts to run to the room.
Old Priest: (chasing) As if you can get away!
The group enters the small room. Nazuna drags Inuyasha inside. Shippo closes the door.
Myoga: Kaori! Thrust the Tetsusaiga into the door!
Kaori: Huh?!
Myoga: Hurry!
Kaori thrusts tetsusaiga's blade onto the door. Outside, Old Priest touches the door and sparks appear, burning his hand.
Old Priest: W-what?! Damn!
Back to inside. Inuyasha lies unconscious on the ground.
Myoga: Tetsusaiga's power will ward them off for a while.
Kaori: (holds INu's hand) His hands are cold… Inuyasha, hang on!
[ End of ACT II: 14min 36sec ]
[ ACT III ]
In the room, Kaori kneels next to Inuyasha, who is lying on the ground. Nazuna sits near the door, leaning on a wall. Shippo is sleeping near Inuyasha.
Kaori: If only I know this would happpened, we would't be in danger…
Nazuna: You don't know, and it's not your fault.
Kaori: But I…!
Myoga: (leaping on Inuyasha's neck) I'll suck out the poison! (sucks Inuyasha's blood and gets bigger, almost the size of Shippo) Hello… I've put on a few pounds here… (rolls over near Shippo) Now it's up to Master Inuyasha. (tired from the sucking)
Kagome: He's perspiring so much… (takes out a handkerchief from her pocket and wipes the perspiration off Inuyasha's forehead. Inuyasha opens his eyes) Sorry, did I wake you?
Inuyasha: No… Kaori… (turns his head away from Kaori)
Kaori: Yes?
Inuyasha: Why? Why were you crying?
Kaori: You mean, a while ago?
Flashback of earlier in the episode when Kaori cried while rescuing Inuyasha.
Kaori: I… I thought you were going to die.
Inuyasha: You... Crying…for me? (pauses) Let me use your lap.
Kaori: (surprised) Huh? Okay. (nods)
Cut to Myoga and Shippo sleeping. As time passes, Myoga gets smaller and smaller until he is his original size again. Cut to Nazuna sleeping by the door. Light rays start to enter the room through the windows. Cut to Inuyasha sleeping on Kaori's lap.
Kaori: Do you feel a little better?
Inuyasha: (with eyes still closed) You…smell nice.
Kaori: (blushes) Huh? But you said you don't like my smell.
Inuyasha: That…was a lie. (rolls his head nearer to Kaori)
KAG: (thinking) What's he saying?! Oh wow… My heart pounding so hard? (to Inuyasha) Hey, Inuyasha… (Inuyasha dozes off) He's asleep. (crumbles of the ceiling fall onto the group) What…?!
Shippo: (wakes up suddenly and looks around, with his tail fuzzed) What's that?!
Myoga: (wakes and looks around) Probably the priest's doing. How's Master Inuyasha?
Kaori: He's not recovered yet!
More pieces of the ceiling fall down. Cut to exterior of temple, where Old Priest is crushing the roof structure. The impact of the crush causes tetsusaiga to drop from the door. Old Priest hovers over the temple and breaks the roof completely.
Nazuna: Watch out!
The group cover themselves as pieces of the roof fall onto them. Old Priest reaches his hand inside the room and grabs Shippo by his leg.
Kaori: Shippo!
Old Priest: (raises Shippo upside down, high up in the air) I'm taking possession of the remaining fragments! (shakes Shippo)
Jewel shards fall from Shippo and Old Priest grabs them with his other hand. He throws Shippo back at Kaori, who grabs him. Old Priest then puts the shards into his mouth and swallows them. Cut to Nazuna who notices the tetsusaiga near her. Cut to the skin of Old Priest peeling off, revealing a dark grey skin and bulging yellow eyes. He laughs hysterically.
Nazuna: (holds tetsuaiga) Hey, you dared to steal the Master Priest's body!
Old Priest: There never was a priest. All of this was to lure the half-demon who possessed the Sacred Jewel fragments.
Nazuna: You…killed my father and the rest of the villagers?!
Old Priest: You served me well…thinking that it was all part of a vendetta.
Nazuna: How dare you!
Nazuna attacks one of Old Priest' feet with tetsusaiga, but only dull clanking sounds are heard. Old Priest grabs Nazuna and raises her into the air.
Old Priest: (squeezing Nazuna) You need not fear the Spider Heads anymore. Once dead, you'll become one of us!
Nazuna: (struggles weakly) Damn him… Dad… I was such a fool… (weakens and drops tetsusaiga)
Tetsusaiga falls downwards and a confident looking Inuyasha grabs it. He is standing up, much more stronger than he was before.
Inuyasha: You're pretty determined for a human.
Nazuna: You…?
Kaori: (shocked) Inuyasha!
Old Priest reaches out four of his hands and grabs Inuyasha. Inuyasha has a smirk on his face and doesn't even flinch.
Kaori: (worried) Inuyasha!
Shippo: (notices the appearance of light rays) The dawn is breaking!
Old Priest: (raises Inuyasha to his eye level) You're just a human right now!
Inuyasha: What a fool you are!
Cut to silhouette of Inuyasha against a rising sun. His eyes turns red and his body pulses. Cut to close-up of his hair turning back to silver.
Old Priest: Why you… Back to normal…?! Well, before you transform, I'll get rid of you!
Inuyasha is now back to his usual self.
Inuyasha: Will you stop touching me with your slimy, ugly arms?! (claws at Old Priest's hands which breaks) The moonless night is over! (raises tetsusaiga which transforms)
Old Priest: The demon sword also transformed.
Inuyasha: (yells) You got that right! (flies towards Old Priest with tetsusaiga in attack position)
Inuyasha slashes Old Priest three times. Cut to Inuyasha standing on the ground. Old Priest's body suddenly falls apart and explodes. The Spider Heads minions also dissipate with the impending light from Old Priest's body. Fade to a white screen. Fade to a large piece of Sacred Jewel shard falling on the ground. It forms almost a quarter of the original Jewel orb.
Kaori: The fragments of the Sacred Jewel? (kneels next to the shard with Shippo) It calcified inside the demon's body.
Inuyasha: Jeepers… Is that all we have?!
Kaori: It's quite a lot.
[ End of ACT III: 19min 23sec ]
[ ACT IV ]
Daytime at a riverbank. Inuyasha, Kaori and Shippo are in their boat, while Nazuna stands on the riverbank.
Nazuna: This far is fine. The village is close by.
Kaori: Really? Then take care.
Nazuna: (looking uncomfortable) Inuyasha… Thank you. I'll remember that there are good demons, too.
The boat moves along the river.
Inuyasha: (folds his arms) Forget that! All demons are bad.
Nazuna: (shouts) I won't forget, Inuyasha! I won't forget you!
Inuyasha: (looks at Nazuna sideways and turns his back towards her) Keh! (pauses, then raise his hand and wave goodbye without turning around)
Fade to Inuyasha sitting at the front of the boat, with arms folded. Kaori and Shippo sit behind him.
Kaori was leaning on her hand that was on the side of her face.
Kaori: (thinking) Inuyasha…seems to be okay.
Fade of flashback of last night.
Inuyasha: (on Kaori's lap) You…smell nice.
Cut to present. Kaori looks intently at Inuyasha, with her face resting on her hand.
