When they hit the ground floor neither Buffy nor Faith had hesitated, both had raced straight to the hospital, Buffy carrying the monk and Faith carrying Xander. There they told the hospital staff they were predator control agents for the city and explained that they had found this man being attacked by something they hadn't encountered before and Xander had fired on it, only for it to attack him instead, tearing the gun he'd been firing from his hand then shoving him away from itself and into a wall. The staff quickly whisked the two back to be evaluated and treated while Willow, Oz and Cordelia finally managed to catch up, having realized immediately where they were heading.

"We should call Giles and Joyce." Faith said. "They're going to want to be here. Monk guy may have information about that whatever she was. It's possible she's the danger to the baby, after all."

"And they're going to want to be here for Xander." Cordelia added. "Gods know the two of them have been more parental to Xander then his own parents. They're probably still together at Joyce's."

"I'll call them." Buffy said. "It should only take a sec." She hurried to the nearest payphone and called her house. Joyce answered and assured Buffy they'd be right there. The two arrived shortly after and the group began a vigil, by turns pacing around the waiting room. Finally a doctor came out.

"Are you the agents that brought in the man who'd been mauled? He identified himself as being with the Order of Dagan, monks."

"We are." Buffy confirmed. "Is he going to be okay?"

"He was badly mauled and has claw marks and deep bruising over much of his torso. But he will survive. Do any of you know a Rupert Giles or Faith Lahaine?"

"I'm Rupert Giles." Giles pulled out his license and showed it to the doctor.

"And I'm Faith Lahaine." Faith showed him her ID badge.

"The gentleman wishes to speak to you both."

"I'm coming with." Joyce insisted. "If it has to do with what I think it does, then it concerns me too!"

"Me too." Buffy insisted.

"There isn't space for so many people in the room. Two of you, that's it."

"Then since he asked for Faith and myself, we should be the ones to go." Giles decided. Joyce and Buffy reluctantly agreed.

The doctor showed them to the room where the monk was and allowed them privacy by stepping out.

"You are Rupert Giles and Faith Lahaine?" The monk asked.

"We are." Giles confirmed.

"Then you are the ones I need to speak to. The Abomination, the one who was torturing me, she discovered the location of the Key. The Key is energy or was. Energy used to open gates between dimensions. I should never have come to Sunnydale. I should have realized she would follow me. I should have found a phone and simply called you. Unfortunately, by coming here I've placed you in danger."

"Why? Why are we in danger?" Giles questioned.

"We sought to hide the Key. Our intention was to form her from the Slayer and place her in your life as a sister. In order to do so, we would have needed to create memories of the child's existence. As though she had always been apart of your life. But we discovered the Wards you have on yourselves made that impossible. So we found another way to incorporate the Key into your lives. She is still apart of you, as we formed her from you. We placed her within the womb of Joyce Summers, the other Slayer's mother. She was the only one in your group with no Wards on her. She will grow as a normal child, unaware of the truth of her origins. The energy is apart of her, of her blood. Please, care for her. Do not allow the Abomination to harm her. She will use the energy to open a door between here and her dimension. This door will allow demons entrance to our world."

"The baby is made from Faith?!" Giles exclaimed. "Who's the father?"

"The child has no father. We used Magic to create what is forming the child. We had intended to make a sister, it should still become female, as it is made from you."

Giles looked flabbergasted, Faith wasn't much better, then she rallied. "Yo, G. It doesn't matter, you love Joyce right? It's not her fault the baby isn't yours, she had nothing to do with this."

Giles swallowed and then nodded. "You are correct Faith, I do love Joyce and this is not her fault. This violation of herself." He glared at the monk. "What you have done is the equivalent of rape."

"I know. Forgive us, please. We were desperate."

"Let's go, G. We need to let the others know."

"Is there anything else you can tell us before we go?" Giles asked.

"She is a fallen Hell goddess, severely weakened by being in our dimension and it affects her mind. She feeds on the minds of others to maintain herself."

"Bloody marvelous!" Giles swore and he and Faith quickly left the monk alone and returned to the others. Before they could fill the others in on the conversation, another doctor came out.

"Who is waiting for word on Alexander Harris?"

"We all are!" Cordelia stood up. "I'm his girlfriend. Is he alright?"

"We've taken him in for surgery. He was badly injured in the attack."

"How badly?!" Cordelia demanded to know.

"The pointer finger of his right hand has been torn off at the third knuckle. The one that joins it to his hand."
