It was late at night, the stars gleamed in the elegant darkness, lingering in the sky. The campfire crackled and spat glowing orange sparks into the air, like fireflies taking off into the sky. The smell of smoke surounded the miniscule clearing in the dark woods. The sleeping bags were laid on the dewy grass in the light of the campfire, only one unoccupied. Teo sat cross legged next to the fire, wrapping himself with his teal wings.
He couldn't sleep, he had too many loud thoughts racing through his head. Most were unpleasant. He should have sacrificed himself, he thought, we wouldn't have had to find the others. If he had just brought the knife down on himself, not on Auristela, not on no one, he could have gotten everyone out of this precarious situation.
" Are you alive in there," I voice broke Teos thoughts, along with an obnoxious hand waving infront of his face.
He looked up, the perfect flawless face of Aurelio met his. his hair spilled over his shoulders in a majestic way, like a waterfall of dark locks.His eyes were intense but in a kind way, Teo couldn't help but feel like he was about to melt by just glancing at them.
" Enjoying the view," Aurelio asked jokingly, flashing a perfect white , cheeky smile at him.
" Shut up golden boy," Teo snapped, heat rising to his face. He hoped the warm glow from the campfire would hide his blush.
" You looked lost in your own thoughts, but not like, happy ones," Aurelio said.
Teo didnt reply he just stared into the roaring flames. The radiant fiery glow reflected on his eyes, turning them the colors of a sunset. Finally he spoke, he felt close enough with Aurelio at this point to open up to him.
" What if I had just brought the knife down on myself," He said." I said it myself, something about if dying is such an honor then why doesn't the winner die or something,"
Aurelio sucked in a long sharp breath, concern but also understanding washed the other emotion from his face.
" Teo you shouldn't have killed yourself, you made the right choice," He said, he looked like he was struggling for the right words to say after that but what he did shocked Teo.
Aurelio cupped his face with one warm hand and pressed his lips to Teos. Teos eyes widened before fluttering shut enjoying Aurelios smooth lips on his. He had never kissed anyone before in his entire life, it was amazing. The two broke apart, flustered and blushing like maniacs.
" I-I'm Sorry- I shouldn't have-" Aurelio stuttered but Teo cut him off.
" Do it again," he said.
Aurelio replied with something really intelligent like, " huh?"
" Kiss me again," Teo stated boldly.
Aurelio didn't need to be told twice, he moved a little closer to Teo this time and brought Teos head closer to his with his hand. Teo swifly closed the gap between their faces, their lips met in a sweet embrace once again.
Teo felt happier then he had been for a very long time, also more sleepy then anybody could feel in a lifetime. He broke the kiss and snuggled close to Aurelio. The last thing he heard before falling asleep was.
