"You're already getting karma, Mio," Kai said to himself, his teeth gritted tightly, his heart beating wildly in his chest. "Lulu hates you, Tomomo hates you, I hate you...my wife hates you...EVERYONE hates you! Nobody cares about you...NOBODY will care about you!"
He turned his eyes to Mother Poppo. She looked at him with compassion and grief, knowing all too well what her husband was feeling in this moment. The two embraced, and shared a kiss.
"I just want you to know that I'm sorry," Kai said, feeling completely devastated and broken by the horrific experience he'd just endured.
"I know, Kai." Mother Poppo responded, kissing his forehead.
"Just know that this humiliation will not go unpunished." Kai said stubbornly. "Mio is already getting her comeuppance by being all alone."
"I understand, Kai." Mother Poppo responded. "But for now, let's just forget about her."
"What can I do now?" Kai said somberly.
"Don't worry about doing anything for now." Mother Poppo said softly. "She'll leave us alone like she said...especially when Tomomo finds out."
"You're right," Kai said, his voice cracking. "Poppo, will you cuddle with me?"
"Of course, Kai." Mother Poppo responded, pulling him into her warm embrace.
