Kai soon finds himself struggling to climb the Mountains Of Impossible Height, while Wu is easily climbing to reach the Monastery Of Spinjitzu.
Kai finally reaches the top, finding the walls of the Monastery and the gate. He was sweating heavily as he also breathed heavily. "How long is training gonna be?" He breathed finding Wu waiting for him. "Aren't we in a bit of a rush since they have the map?" He then sees the stairs. "Stairs!?" He cries in shock. "Couldn't we have taken the stairs instead!?"
"The fire burns hot inside you, young man." Wu said as he turns to him. "Patience." He opens the doors and the two walk inside the courtyard. "You will be ready when you are ready. Not a minute sooner."
"A monastery? You expect me to learn to fight in a place of peace?"
"Not fight." Wu turns to Kai. "Train. "In order to become a true Ninja, first you must be able to see what others do not."
"But there's nothing here incept for the dragon statue."
Wu twirls his staff around as he walks to the middle of the courtyard, he places his staff down, pressing a button.
The dragon statue lifts towards the sky, as it does training equipment rises from the ground.
"Whoa!" Kai breathed, he comes up to Wu. "Is this gonna teach me how to do that cool move?" He hops on top of one of the training poles and poses as the pole descends.
"Oh dear." Wu said with worry, just before the training pole sprang up and Kai is launched backwards, his back hitting the dragon statue and he falls on his stomach back on the ground.
"Complete the training course before I finish my tea." Wu said as he sat in front of the building entrance. His tea pot next to him and a cup in hand. "Then we will wee if you are ready." He pours himself some tea, then drinks the whole thing, while Kai glares at him. "Today you failed. Tomorrow you will try again."
"Failed?!" Kai asked confused as he pushes himself back to his feet. "But I didn't even start to."- He's cut off when Wu backflips inside the building and closes the doors.
"Patience." Wu said from behind the closed doors.

Weeks went by as Kai tries to train, but fails. Finally at the end of the fourth week, Kai walked out of he Monastery with a determined look. He goes through the course with ease, just as Wu is about to drink his tea, Kai throws his stick sword, knocking the cup out of Wu's hands. Wu pours some more tea into another cup and looks up … only to find the training course activated but no Kai.
"Was that one sugar." Kai is suddenly next to the elder and holding the sugar cup, surprising Wu. "Or two?"
"Huh." Wu's impressed, he gets up and enters the monastery.
"So, am I gonna learn this Spinjitzu I've been hearing about?" Kai asks as he watches Wu.
"You already have. Your final test comes tomorrow." Wu closes the doors. "My advise is to get some sleep."

That night. Three Ninja wearing black easily make their way into the monastery, passing Wu as he sleeps.

Kai stands in front of the mirror, brushing his teeth and in pajamas. He lowers his arm, then raises it again. "Oh yeah!? Well take this!" He gestures wildly as he goes about the bathroom, never noticing one of of the Ninja in black landing silently holding nunchucks. "And this!" The second Ninja lands in a corner holding twin shurikens. "And this!" He twirls around and aims his toothbrush at the third Ninja holding a scythe. The three close in on him.
"Oops."
The three ambush Kai, who looks around. Kai then shoves his toothbrush into the mouth the Ninja welding the shurikens before leaping away and the Ninja spits the toothbrush out, sending it flying and hitting the Ninja forehead of the Ninja with the nunchucks. The Ninja with the scythe whacks the toothbrush to the side and leaps up towards the sooth, the other two follow.
Together the three chase after Kai, and the one with the scythe knocks Kai out of the monastery, where he flies through the night sky, above the dragon statue and lands near the button to activate the training course.
Pushing himself up, Kai pressing the button to activate it.
Kai fights the three, until he tackles one and the other two dogpile on him.
"STOP!"
The four stop and turn to the entrance doors as they slide open to reveal Wu walking out with his staff. The four pull themself out of their dogpile and the three in black bow.
"Yes, Sensei." They said in union.
"Wait a minute." Kai said confused. "They're your students too?" He asks, making Wu nod. "This was my final test, wasn't I."-
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!" The Ninja on Kai's right, stepped forward as he looked at his Sensei. "You never said anything about a fourth. It's always three. Three Blind Mice. Three Musketeers. Three."
"Uh, what he's trying to say, Sensei Wu, is that three of us have trained together. We're solid." The Ninja on Kai's left add.
"Pfft." Kai folds his arms. "Didn't so solid to me."
The other Ninja stepped forward. "Sensei, what is the meaning of this?" He asks.
Sensei starts to move toward them. "Each of you have been chosen. Each in tune with elemental properties." He readies his staff.. "Ninja go!" He uses Spinjitzu and moves towards the four, changing their outfits.
The four spin dizzily and stop to look at their new clothing, Kai is now holding a sword.
"Whoa! How'd he do that?" Kai asked.
"Whoa! Look what color I am!" An elated Jay smiles under his hood.
"Wait a minute." Cole frowns as he took a few steps forward. "I'm still black."
"Kai!" Sensei Wu places his staff on Kai's right shoulder. "Master of Fire. It burns bright in you." He moves to the blue Ninja. "Jay is blue, Master of Lightning."
"Heh, that's not all I'm the master of. I do a little inventing. A dabble in model building. A touch of cooking. A little poetry."
"More like 'Mouth of Lightning.'" The Ninja still in black said, making Wu turn to him and place his staff on his shoulder.
"Black Ninja is Cole, solid as rock, Master of Earth."
"Nice to meet you." Cole turns to Kai. "I got your back." He pulls off his hood. "And for the record, there ain't nothing in this world I'm afraid of."
"Except for dragons."
"Dragons aren't from this world, Zane." Cole said with annoyance. "I said in this world."
"And white Ninja is Zane, Master of Ice, and seer with sixth sense." As Wu speaks, Zane utilizes his shurikens before making them vanish.
Kai leans to Cole. "I sense this one takes things a little too seriously."
Zane turns to him, pulling off his hood. "You to have the gift?" He asks Kai.
Jay laughs. "He's just making a joke, Zane." He pulls off his hood. "Remember what we talked about? Your sense of humor? Huh?"
"Yes, it was a joke. Haha." Zane said, making Jay face palm.
"Pay attention!" Wu yells, making Kai pull off his hood and Jay straightens himself back up. "You four are the chosen ones who will protect the Four Weapons Of Spinjitzu … from Lord Garmadon."
Kai raises his sword. "But what about my sister!?"
Jay asks with excitement. "We're saving a girl?" He asks, making Kai glare at him. "Is she hot?"
"Jay!" Cole scolds.
"I-I just wanna know what we're getting ourselves into! Does she like blue?"
"Back off!" Kai warns with a heated glare.
"When we find the weapons, we will find your sister. It is time! We must go to the first weapon!" Wu announces.
"Whoa!" Cole said as he stepped forward. "Hold on a minute. You said you were gonna teach us Spinjitzu."
"Spinjitzu is inside each and every one of you, but it will only be unlocked when the key is ready to be found." Wu pauses for a moment. "Come! My feet are tired. We will take the horse carriage."
"Great." Cole said with a sigh.
"Now we have to find a key?" Jay asked.
"Yeah, I'm feeling like he's taking us for a ride."
Kai stepped forward. "Well, if it means finding my sister, then sign me up!" He follows Wu, pulling on his hood in the process.

The following day at the Caves Of Despair, the four Ninja are pulling the horse carriage and Wu is sitting relaxed.
"'Sign me up'" Jay mocks Kai. "Way to go spark plug."
"I sense this is some strange form of team building." Zane said on Kai's right.
"Just keep pulling." Cole said as the four ran while he was in the front. "We have a long way to go."
"So, where did Sensei find you three?" Kai asked.
"Let's just say if it wasn't for Sensei Wu, I don't think we'd ever been seen together." Cole said as he looked over his left shoulder. "I was testing my limits."
"I was testing my invention." Jay added.
"So, your the bird brain who got himself on the 5 o'clock news." Kai smirked. "You crashed right into a police car, and you got arrested!"
"Oh yeah!" Jay growled, his face red with embarrassment. "Well."
"And I was testing myself." Zane said.
"Your right, if it weren't for Sensei, none of us would."-
"Shh … stop!" Sensei interrupts Kai, and they all look at their destination.
Sensei, Cole, Jay, and Zane come up to a cliff and look towards the scene. "The Caves Of Despair. Samukai must be close to unearthing the Scythe Of Quakes. Remember, do not use the weapon. For its power."-
"Yeah, yeah, yeah!" Jay cuts in. "It's too much for us mortals. Alright, guys. Let's chop-socky this lemonade stand! Cole, you got the plan?"
"Sure do. First, we lower ourselves down the ledge. And then." Cole pauses as he turns to his left. "Where's Kai?"
They scan their eyes over the entrance, they find Kai already sneaking about.
Jay sighs. "Let's go." He said before he, Zane and Cole leap out, forcing them to abort their plan to follow Kai's route instead.
Kai uses his new skills to the test, using stealth mode around the Skulkin warriors. Kai then peeks over some boulders and gasps. "The map!"

At the conveyor belt, the Skeleton Army are collecting rocks, Nuckal notices something as he picks up a rock. "Oh, oh, oh, oh. I found something!"
"That's another rock, you bonehead!" Kruncha told him, annoyed. While Cole, Jay and Zane ride the conveyor belt unnoticed underneath.
"But it's shaped like a doughnut!" Nuckal protested. "I wonder what it tastes like." He bites into it and yelps as he looses a tooth and Kruncha shakes his head.
Kai advances closer to the map, while his team follow suit as the use other routes, they eventually catch up to Kai on top of the tower.
Jay smacks him upside the head. "What's the matter with you?"
Kai lifts his head to glare at him. "Shh."
Inside the tower, Samukai laughs as he studies the map and leaves it on the table as he walks away.
Jay looks at it from a different angle. "It's upside-down. They're digging at the wrong spot."
"The Golden Weapon is near." Zane said as he pulled out a shuriken, he throws it down onto the map and pulls it up by the rope that was tied to the weapon. All without Samukai noticing.
The Ninja study the map. "There's no time to waste." He quickly leaves without the others.
"What is it with that guy?" Jay asked. "Always in a rush."

Kai sneaks inside without being noticed, coming up to a huge boulder, he tries to push it on his own.
"Hey!" Cole said as he, Jay and Zane walk up to him. "Before you race off again, you need to remember that we're a team. And I'm the leader!"
"Yeah, whatever." Kai rolled his eyes.
Together the four Ninja push the boulder to the side and enter the cave. Finding large skulls carved into the walls and the Golden Scythe Of Quakes above the mouth of a dragon.
"Wow! That is so cool!" Jay's 'cool' echos and alerts Samukai and his army while Cole pulls out the Scythe.
"Shh! Not so loud." Cole jumps down and wraps the Scythe in a blanket so the cloth from the weapon wouldn't be noticed by the enemy.
Jay just waves it off. "Come on. Don't be paranoid. We're totally on the opposite side of the caves."
"Zip it, ok?" Cole said as he carried his future weapon under his arm as they start to walk out. "Now that we got the Scythe, let's sneak out while those boneheads are still busy."
As they leave, behind them the dragon mouth slowly starts to open wider.
"Alright, team. Everyone stick together. The way out is right around the corner." Cole told them, he turns around and comes face to face with Samukai, startling the black Ninja.
Samukai raises all four arms, and the Ninja pose with their weapons.
The Ninja soon battle their way out of the cave. But the Skeleton Army kept coming.
"There's too many of them!" Kai said after knocking down a few skeletons.
"Let me handle that." Jay said, he then notices a skeleton waving a ball and chain, and soon realization dawns on him. "Hey, guys! It's just like the training course back home!" He runs for it. "Over the planks! Dodge the swords! Here comes the dummy! Cha-Ching!" Blue sparks appear around Jay as he spins and he suddenly goes around the cave in his blue tornado.
"Spinjitzu!" Kai said in surprise. "Jay! What's the key?"
"I'm just going through the motions. This is what Sensei must have meant when he said we already know it."
Kai thinks about it and starts to glow in red. "Over the planks! Dodge the swords! Here comes the dummy!" He turns into a red tornado.
Kruncha laughs and turns to Nuckal. "He just called you a dummy."
"No, he called you a dummy."
The two then see a white tornado coming their way and they retreat as Zane gets closer to them. Zane comes out of Spinjitzu, slowly turning to Samukai.
"I sense you do not have a chance."
Samukai backed away from him as he looks around and seeing the danger. "Retreat!"
The whole Skeleton Army retreats as the four tornados head for them, the Ninja soon come out of their respective Spinjitzu.
"Huh! Guess they didn't want a second serving of these babies." Cole bragged as he flexed his biceps. "Good thing they didn't check out the merchandise in the back!" He turns around and shocked and frozen at what's behind them.
"Alright!" Kai cheers.
"Woo hoo hoo!" Jay cheers as he and Kai high five.
"Didn't Sensei say there was a guardian protecting the Weapons?" Zane asked. He, Kai and Jay turn to look behind them to see the Earth Dragon standing right in front of them as the animal growled.
"Is." Cole tries to work his frozen voice. "That ... a. That's not what I think it is. Is it?"
"You mean a dragon?" Jay asked nervously.
"Uh, that sure looks like a dragon!" Kai said as the dragon rose up on it's hind legs.
"I sense we won't be able to spin our way out of this one." Zane said.
The dragon throws out sand towards the Ninja, who scream and duck for cover. They try to flee as the dragon blows more rock and sand at them.
"I thought dragons weren't from this world!" Cole said as the Ninja have their backs against the wall behind them.
"Gimmie that!" Kai tried to take the Scythe from Cole, but when Kai tried to lift it he face planted. "Damn, that thing's heavy!" He picks himself up. "Cole! Use the Scythe!"
"Wh-what?"
"Do it, or all four of us are gonna be lunch!"
Grabbing the Scythe, Cole gulps as he clutches the Golden Weapon tightly and slowly moves towards the dragon. "N-n-n-n." He stuttered, while looking up at the dragon. "Nice dragon." He then uses the Scythe, creating the cave to collapse and the dragon goes down. And the Ninja escape.
"We gotta escape!" Kai yelled.
The four slide to a stop and look up to see an opening and the sun. "The sun!" Cole exclaimed. "We'll use Spinjitzu!"
The four use Spinjitzu, and the Earth Dragon follows them as they escape, but the Earth Dragon couldn't catch them.

They make it just in time. Jay falling onto his back as Zane fell on his stomach while Kai and Cole stay standing.
"That was so awesome!" Cole exclaimed as he held the Scythe.
"Yes!" Kai cheers and the two high five. "We are unbelievable!"
"We are the best!" Zane agreed.
"Did you see that?! I was like 'pow'! And you were like 'bam'!" Jay exclaimed.
"ENOUGH!" Sensei yelled, infuriated and the four Ninja turn to face him. "I told you not to use the Scythe!"
"It was his idea!" Jay instantly points at Kai.
"I warned him, Sensei." Cole added as he too paints at Kai.
"Using it was the only way of escaping!" Kai defended himself.
"And what makes you think you're more important than the team, huh?! HUH?!"
"My sister! They kidnapped her! Remember that! My 13-year-old sister!" An enraged Kai yelled. "She's the only family I have left!"
"There are still 3 weapons left." Sensei replied as he turns around. "Maybe next time you can do it right."
Kai folds his arms as he glares, then he follows his team.

The way I figured, the Scythe of Quakes should be heavy, making only Cole to hold it. It makes sense to me.
