She set the trap the best she could. It had been a while since she had trapped anything other than animals, but she hadn't lost all her skills. The net was buried just below the leaves, and if she had timed it right, he'd be coming this way. She had thought for a while about how to get one of the Lost Boys to speak with her again, and decided a trap was the only way. But figuring out when someone who might actually give her answers would be walking by hadn't proved easy.

Finally, Jack stumbled right into the net and with a loud whoosh, he was dangling a few feet above the ground. She stepped out with a smirk. "You never were the most observant."

His eyes widened. "Lizzie?"

"Been a while. How are things for you lot?"

"If you wanted to chat, why did you catch me in a net?"

"So you couldn't run away?"

"I won't run away if you let me down."

She considered it. "How can I know that? You could turn me over to them."

He frowned. "I thought we were friends. Something like it, at least."

"So did I. But one of you betrayed me the last time."

"It wasn't me," he promised quickly. "I would never. It was probably Felix, you know how he is."

Elizabeth sighed. It probably had been, in truth. "Okay. I'll cut you down. Then we can talk?"

"Sure," he said.

She pulled the dagger from her waist and cut down the net.

Jack hit the ground and rolled, groaning a little. He sat down on a log, and she joined him. "Thanks."

"Don't mention it. So. How have things been?"

He shrugged. "Pan's found the boy he's looking for. Seems really invested in training him. I'm not entirely sure what he wants with him. But he's got some powerful magic, that one. Apparently, his mother is something called the Savior, and his grandfather is the Dark One."

A chill ran through Elizabeth. "The Dark One?" That was the name of the evil sorcerer that had been after her parents. The one they had sent her away to shield her from. Thoughts spiraled through her head.

"I'm pretty sure," Jack agreed. "Pan has something going on with the Dark One. Seems a little obsessed. I don't ask questions, of course. Wouldn't dare."

Elizabeth nodded. "But he's training the boy? Not hurting him?"

"Why would he hurt him? He's wanted this boy for centuries. Must be something special. I heard rumors the island is dying. That maybe the boy can save it. Though I also heard a theory..."

"What?" She tried not to sound too eager.

He shook his head. "Doesn't matter. Why do you care? Thought you were done with Pan."

"I am," she said. "He wouldn't want to work with me anymore. I've just always been curious. I remember always wanting to learn more about him, about the island. Do you know anything about the deal he made?"

"What, with the island's spirit?" Jack shrugged. "He wanted to be a child forever. The island gave that to him. He's made vague references to having to sacrifice something for his youth. Not something he cared all that much about, though, from the way he mentions it."

Elizabeth nodded. If she pried for any more information, Jack would grow suspicious. He wasn't the brightest bulb, but he wasn't entirely dense. "Well, regardless. It's been nice talking with you, Jack. We had some good times together."

"We did," he agreed. "I'd better get going before he notices I'm gone."

She nodded as he kept walking.

Papa frowned. "Pan never mentioned Rumpelstiltskin all the years I worked for him, except in the context of my own desire for revenge against him. If he's obsessed as this Lost Boy claimed, would that not have slipped out at least once?"

"To a servant?" Regina snorted. "Why would it?"

Elizabeth barely heard her, focusing instead on Papa's words. "What did you want revenge against the Dark One for?"

"He took my hand," he replied. "And the woman I loved."

A cold shock ran down her back. The Dark One had killed her mother? "Why?"

Papa frowned. "Because he's an evil crocodile. Why else?"

"Okay," Snow White cut in. "Did you find out anything else?"

"There was a rumor he wanted Henry to save the island from dying."

"Somehow I doubt altruistic motives," said Emma.

"As do I," Elizabeth agreed. "There was another rumor, too, but he wouldn't say it. And he did talk about Pan's deal with the island for eternal youth, but said that whatever he sacrificed wasn't something he cared about much."

"Hmm," said David. "Not a whole lot to go on there."

"No," Snow White agreed. "But thank you for your help, Elizabeth."

"Don't mention it." She looked at Papa, wondering how she could ask this without seeming strange. "Did you-did you ever get your revenge? Against the Dark One?"

He snorted derisively. "Put it on hold, actually. To come find Henry."

"Rumpelstiltskin came with us," David explained. "To save his grandson."

Elizabeth shook her head. "Who would even have a child with a man like that?"

Papa had a strange look on his face. "Actually," he said. "Milah, my... my love, before she became that, she was Rumpelstiltskin's wife."

Elizabeth stumbled backwards and almost fell. Mama was married to the Dark One? She had his child? "The Dark One was married?"

"He wasn't the Dark One yet," Papa explained. "Just the village coward. His wife fell in love with me."

And left her family... her child. "And they had a child?"

"A son. Baelfire."

"Hang on," Emma said, blinking rapidly. "You never told me your love was married to Gold. She was-she was Neal's mother?"

"Yes."

Elizabeth pondered the meaning of what they were saying. She had, or at least had once had, a brother. A brother who was the son of the Dark One, the man that had killed her-their mother. And now she had a nephew, and he was the boy Pan was messing with. Her world had just been turned upside down. She thought she might be sick. "And this Dark One is here?" she asked. "On this island?"

"He is," Regina confirmed.

"Wow. Well, anyway, I hope my information helps. I'll check in again tomorrow."

They nodded and turned away, and she started forming a new plan. Papa may have put his revenge on hold... but the Dark One had stolen her life from her. Maybe it was time she got some revenge for herself.
