Chapter 2: Episode Shadow
A lovely couple were enjoying their time in the roller coaster in Twinkle Park, an amusement park in Station Square, secretly a resting spot for the Chaos Emeralds when not in use. The couple stared into the stary night sky of the park, hugging each other tightly, not noticing the horde of mutated sea creatures in the back seat of the ride.
Meanwhile, Shadow the hedgehog was at Station Square with Rouge and Cream, taking a well-deserved break from being a G.U.N agent, as the organization has been restored to it's former self after Infinite's attack a long time ago. However, just as he was going to go on a vacation to Soleanna, Rouge decided to make him a babysitter for Cream the rabbit when Vanilla was helping out the Chaotix on taxes.
"You, darling need to socialise more!", she said.
Shadow relunctantly did so, as even though he wanted to go attend the famous "Festival of the Sun" that Omega ostensibly wanted to see, he couldn't risk the kid being left alone in her house while her mother was gone, as her only line of defense, Gemerl, was recharging.
"Oh! You actually agreed! What, does she remind of Mar-", Rouge stopped, realising her insensitive comment.
Shadow gave her a stern gaze, and left with a slightly intimidated Cream and Cheese.
Rouge left in a annoyed huff. "Not even a goodbye", she thought.
When Shadow and Cream walked down the busy street, they saw a Casino, a burger shop and plenty of other local businesses that Shadow showed no interest in.
"So, uh, Mr Shadow, what's your hobby?", a shy Cream asked.
Shadow took a step back, and thought for while. "Riding my motorcycle calms my nerves, and unlike running, allows me to focus on my thoughts and reflect on what could I do to help make the world a better place under the pale moonlight. Why did you ask?"
"Well, uh, I thought we could get to know each other more.", Cream seemed a little frightened by Shadow's dark personality.
Shadow coldly nodded without looking at her. While they walked past several shops and apartments, Shadow caught a glimpse of a newspaper article at a newspaper stand, reading, "Unsteady water levels near Emerald Coast worry citizens"
Shadow frowned but chose to ignore the possible danger for the time being, as he has forced himself to take a true vacation off work.
"Hey, Cream, you want to go to that theme park over here?", Shadow pointed at the Twinkle Park entrance, after deducing that it was the only logical place Cream and Cheese would want to visit.
Cream and Cheese nod excitedly, as huge smiles appear on their faces. Shadow steps foward and pays the entrance fee, as only "cute couples" have no fee. Cream and Cheese dash into the park excitedly.
When Shadow, Cream and Cheese arrived in front of the Twinkle coaster, the staff stopped them from proceeding further.
"If you three want to ride the coaster, you'll have to wait for the couple currently on board to finish their ride."
Shadow nodded in understanding, while Cream's ears dropped down even further, and Cheese comforting her.
"Alright! they're back!", the staff said enthusiastically.
"AAHHH!", the staff screamed in terror as he saw the couple's dry corpses' bony hands clutched together tightly.
The bodies seemed to lack any sign of life! And were all as white as the pale moonlight.
Shadow covered Cream and Cheese's eyes and ears before they could see or hear anything. "We request immediate medical assistance and emergency closing and evacuation of the park NOW!", A staff member exclaimed into his comminication device.
Shadow had already left the park in a dash. "Mr Shadow, what's wrong?", Cream asked, worried she did something wrong. But before Shadow could respond, a certain two tailed fox rushed towards them. "Shadow! Cream!", Tails was out of breath, as he quickly started explaining.
"I've been looking you-, giant creature-, chaos energy-, mutation-", Tails could not muster a complete sentence before collapsing onto the ground.
Shadow swiftly caught the fox, gritting his teeth. "Break's over", he thought.
Several large blast of water broke the manholes located in Station Square, as the residents fled the open roads, thinking that Perfect Chaos has returned. Cream and Cheese furiously shook Tails' body, almost trembling in tears.
Shadow narrowed his eyebrows, "This isn't merely a plumbing oversight, something big's about to happen", he thought as the streets started to flood.
"Cream! Can you carry Tails to Central City, there's a casino named Club 'Rouge' where you'll be safe!", Shadow asked. Cream wanted to nod, but she ended up shaking her head instead. Shadow grunted, losing his patience, "Listen kid, right now our friend Tails is between life and death! Do you want to save him!?"
Cream put on a brave face and nodded, she started flapping her ears with all her strength and took off towards Central City with Cheese and an unconscious Tails in her hands.
Shadow flashed a relieved smile which quickly faded away, he couldn't risk Cream and Tails getting hurt by an entity like Perfect Chaos or the Biolizard. Shadow quickly activated his air shoes and started to run across the flooded streets, using chaos control to carry most of the civilians out of danger to the Mystic Ruins temporaily, when he saw an army of mutated sea roaches, coming from Emerald Coast.
Shadow came to a stop as he became surrounded by hundreds if not thousands of sea roaches. "These sea roaches are larger than normal! They must have been mutated by chaos energy! Creating a new species, Shockirus.", he named the deformed sea creatures. "Calling G.U.N. headquarters, this is agent Shadow of special task force 2004 calling from Station Square! I require immediate backup and an evacuation-AH!" The sea roaches leaped towards Shadow's body, wanting to sting and bite him.
"CHAOS CONTROL!", Shadow teleported to the edge of a rooftop, watching as the creatures tried to climb up the building. "These creatures are specfically targeting me! If they really are mutations caused by large amounts of chaos energy, they must be seeking that same type of energy for subsistence!", Shadow theorised. While a group of citizens became surrounded by Shockirus.
"I must dispose of these creatures to ensure the safety of this city! However, it would cost too much energy to use chaos blast or chaos spear to eliminate the seemingly endless army of Shockirus!", Said Shadow, as he pulled out his Troy 223 Pump Rifle.
"Disgusting green creatures! Get out of my sight!", Shadow said, as he fired all of his ammo at the army of Shockirus, slaughtering all the deformed sea creatures. Shadow's quills started to glow blue, as he used chaos control to zoom past the dead sea creatures and into the streets, teleporting everyone got to safety.
As a squad of G.U.N. agents entered the flooded city, an elite and Shadow shared a look.
"How many casualities?"
"At least 20 injured and 2 dead."
The soldier nodded.
Shadow arrived at the temporary shelter G.U.N. had set up for the evacuated civilians. Shadow could see crying children and terrified locals saying their prayers, as several patients were laid on the ground with scars and wounds covering their entire body. Some people were struggling to stay alive due to the Shockirus draining their life energy, evident from the fact that their skin was "melting".
However, from the the corner of his eye, Shadow could spot a lonely child wearing half-torn clothes leaning against the wall, with his eyes fixated at the floor.
"What's the matter?", Shadow asked.
The boy's eyes widened when Shadow called his name.
"Nothing sir..."
"Listen kid, I might not be a therapist, but I know something is wrong."
"...It's just that, my mother decided to abandon me a few weeks ago... She's very addicted to gambling, everytime she enters the casino, I have to wait at the entrance for at least 8 hours before she comes out depressed she lost all her money. One time, she hit the 'jackpot' and just left me to...", the boy couldn't finish his sentence, light started to reflect off his cheek.
Shadow's arm shook for a split second, "...Where do you live now, kid?"
"On the streets... I just don't think I can carry on, now that that's..."
Shadow closed his eyes and took a deep breath, "Listen, kid, even if the whole world leaves you to rot on the streets, remember that there will always be someone there for you... remember that."
The kid wiped the tears off his face, "Really?"
"Kid, promise me that if you end up in a situation where you think there's no hope, remember to keep on fighting like you've always had, with all of your heart and soul.", Shadow said, as he slowly walked away and out of the shelter. Shadow looked up towards Angel Island in the sky with a frown on his face.
Metal Sonic watched as the Shockirus were killed by Shadow the hedgehog on a monitor screen, its eyes flickering once in a while when Orbot tapped its metal shoulder.
"Hey big bro! The boss wants to see you!", Orbot said enthusiastically.
Metal Sonic glared at the red bucket of bolts as he walked out of the room.

Well, second chapter is done! Next chapter is going to be more about Sonic and Knuckles instead of Shadow though! This isn't a Shadow the hedgehog fanfic afterall! Next chapter is also probably going to be done in late or mid February. Thanks for the support!
