Chapter 1: Gate of Ancients:

Max's POV:

I was training under Lord Varios. "Okay, that's enough for today," says Lord Varios.

"I feel like I was just getting started," I said. My name is Max and I am a swordsman.

"Max, you've come a long way," says Lord Varios, "right now, we must speak with the King!"

. . .

We were on our way to the king. "Max," says Lowe, my closest friend.

"Hello Lowe," I said.

"So, how was your training," asks Lowe.

"I think I'm getting better," I said, "and now, I must see the king."

. . .

Lord Varios and I were meeting with the king. Also there was Lord Varios' daughter, Mae. By the way, she and Lord Varios are centaurs, in case you did not know that.

"The time has come," says the King, "Max, it's time you hear the story! In ages long forgotten, Light fought Darkness for control of the world. Dark Dragon led the evil hordes of darkness. The Ancients fought back with the Powers of Light. Dark Dragon was defeated and cast into another dimension. The Lord of Darkness vowed to return in 1,000 years. Time passed, and Dark Dragon was forgotten by all. Ten centuries of peace ruled the land of Rune. Until the Kingdom of Runefaust brought war and fear to Rune. Hordes of evil creatures ravaged every land. Here and there, Strongholds of Good still held out... awaiting a hero who could wield the Powers of Light! And that hero is you, Max!"

"Woah... me," I asked, "Your Highness... are you sure?"

"Yes, Max, why do you think Varios has been training you," asks the King.

"I thought it was because I asked," I said, "how am I going to fight the forces of evil?"

"Well, you can't alone," says the King, "you must gather a team of heroes! You must lead the Shining Force!"

"It is your destiny," says Lord Varios.

"That's great, Max," says Mae.

"Me? Really?"

I then exited the castle. "Where am I going to find a team?" I then saw Lowe. "Well, I should start with a healer. Lowe!"

"Yes, Max," asks Lowe.

"I have an offer for you," I said.

We then arrived at this pub. "Are you sure we'll find another ally here," I asked.

"If you want a warrior, this is the place," says Lowe.

We then saw some brutes picking on this little guy... but then he beat them down. "You don't mess with Luke!"

"Luke, is it," I asked, "I'm Max and this is Lowe. How would you like to join the Shining Force?"

We then found an archer and he was firing arrows at some targets. His name is Hans. "Hans, I have an offer for you," I said.

Next was a mage named Tao. She was practicing with her magic. "Tao," I said, "we could use your help."

We were then gathered at our new headquarters. We met the Priest. "Greetings," says the Priest.

"So, what do you do, exactly," asks Luke.

"Simple," says the Priest, "if a warrior proves themselves, I can promote them and if someone dies, I can bring them back."

"You can bring back the dead," asks Tao.

"That's right," says the Priest.

"Let's go," I said.

We then arrived at the Gate of Ancients. "There are goblins, dark dwarves, and a Rune Knight in there," says Lowe, "I'd say the Rune Knight must be the leader!"

"I think we're going to need more muscle," says Tao.

We then saw a monk chopping wood. "Excuse me," I said, "I am Max, and we are the Shining Force. What's your name?"

"I am Gong."

"Gong, would you like to help us fight the forces of evil," I asked.

"Sure," says Gong.

. . .

We then entered.

"Destroy them," says the Rune Knight.

Luke, Gong, and I took on some dark dwarves while Hans, Tao, and Lowe took on some goblins. When Tao got hurt, Lowe healed her. "Thanks," says Lowe.

We managed to take the grunts down and all that was left was the Rune Knight. "I'll have to take care of you myself!"

The Rune Knight then charged at us. We each took a hit. Then Tao did this spell that made it rain fire on the Rune Knight. Hans then fires an arrow at the Rune Knight. Then I gave the finishing blow, and the Rune Knight was destroyed.

"We did it," says Tao.

"Our first mission," says Luke.

"We should get back to the kingdom and celebrate," says Hans.

"I'm going to let the King know," I said.

. . .

I returned to the castle, but I saw the King was under attack. "Who are you," I asked.

"I am Kane, commander of the forces of Runefaust!"

"Max, get back," says Lord Varios.

He tried to fight... "Sword of Darkness, strike," says Kane. The Sword of Darkness destroys Varios.

Mae comes in and sees her father was now dead. "No," says Mae.

"Let this be a warning!" Kane then leaves.

"Your Majesty," I said, "can the Priest bring back Lord Varios?"

"No," says the King, "he can only bring back members of the Shining Force! Max, you must continue and stop the forces of Runefaust from bringing back Dark Dragon! Also, find my daughter, Anri!" The King then dies.

"My Father and the King are both dead," says Mae. I looked down. "No need for tears. We can still stop Kane! Max, I would like to join the Shining Force!"

Heifeng Guai is the Mate of Pipa Jing. Heifeng Guai is the Father of Tso Lan, Po Kong, Tchang Zhu, Shen Du, Bai Tza, Dai Gui, Xiao Fung, Hsi Wu, and Ting Song. In the next chapter, the Shining Force goes to Alterone.
