AUTHOR'S NOTES:

Hey guys! So I was watching Hazbin Hotel and there was this one song I really enjoyed. It's called More Than Anything and it's so beautiful, that I thought it would make a nice short fanfic.

MORE THAN ANYTHING

39-year old Danny stood on the large balcony of his home, looking out at the view as the sun began to set in the distance in silence as he sighed. His wife Sam was standing behind him.

"She just…..doesn't understand Sam. I can't let her near them. Not after what happened when I revealed my secret after the Disasteroid." He said.

Sam walked up and held his arm in comfort and said, "I know, but….she really wants to do this. She thinks she can really get them to understand like the rest of the world does."

A couple of days ago, their fifteen year old daughter Danielle asked if she could see her grandparents Jack and Maddie Fenton, but Danny said no. This morning when she tried again and Danny said no, it turned into an argument which ended up with him revealing why he was refusing to let her see them in the first place.

When Danny was eighteen, a Disasteroid was about to hit the Earth and was going to destroy both the human world and the ghost world. After convincing the ghost to help, Danny saved the world by turning the Earth intangible. After that, he decided it was time to reveal his half-ghost status to everyone.

While the world accepted him as a hero, his parents however didn't. He remembered the arguments he had, trying to convince them that he was still their son even though he was half-ghost, but they wouldn't listen which ended with him being kicked out of his home and disowned by his own parents.

Danielle, being born half-ghost as well was hoping that things had changed and she wanted to fix things for her family, but Danny was sure that his parents hadn't changed at all since he left.

Danielle came up to her parents' room and entered. Sam stood back and sat on the bed, hoping that the two could sort this out.

Dani sighed and spoke, "Dad, I'm sorry. I didn't know what happened between you and your parents."

"It's okay. It's just…I never told you because…..it still hurts inside." Danny admitted.

"But I still want to see them. Maybe I can get them to change or maybe they have regretted what happened. Please dad. Let me try." Dani pleaded.

"I….I can't." Danny said, hanging his head down.

"Why can't you?" Dani asked.

Danny held his daughter by her shoulders as he said, "Danielle! You don't understand. My parents never listens. They didn't listen to me."

He let go and then turned around as he continued, "They won't listen to you."

"You don't know that!" Dani argued.

He turned back around and Dani could see tears forming in his eyes as he said, "I do!"

DANNY

You didn't know that when,

I tried this all before

My dreams were too hard to defend

He turned around and held his daughters hands in his own as visions of his parents scalpels came to his mind, pointing at himself and then his daughter.

And in the end

I won't lose it all again

Now you're the only thing worth fighting for

More than anything

More than anything

He held her close in his arms as he tried to make her see, he's only trying to protect her from what happened in the past and what he believes what will happen if she tries to see Jack and Maddie.

I'll shelter and adore you more than anything

They pulled out of the embrace and Dani then said, "Dad, you trained me with my powers and I'm more than ready to face whatever happens. I don't need you to protect me from this."

"I just don't want you to be crushed by them, like….like I was." Danny said as he turned away from her.

"Oh dad…." Dani whispered.

She then thought back to a time when she was six. She had come into her parents' room and saw Danny looking at a photo of himself as a teenager with his parents.

DANIELLE

When I was young,

I didn't really know you at all

I always felt so small

But I heard your stories and I was enthralled

Danny turned from his desk and saw her. He smiled as he placed the photo down. He held out his hand and showed her all the photos from his adventures as a teenager and began to tell her all about them.

The tales about your adventures and dreams

I listened breathlessly

And imagined that could be me

Danielle smiled at the stories, until he reached the end of the album which showed another photos of his parents. Before he could come up with an excuse, Sam entered the room and gently picked up Danielle.

As they left the room, Danielle could see Danny's smile change to sadness as he looked down at the photo.

So in the end

It's the view I had of you

That showed me dreams can be worth fighting for

More than anything

More than anything

As Danny listened to his daughter, he began to see her as not just someone who needed protecting, but as a strong, confident and brave young girl. Just like he raised her to be.

I need to help my family more than anything

For the first time in two days, Danny smiled at his daughter and the two began to walk towards each other. Sam smiled warmly at the sight.

DANNY

I've been dying to find out who you are

Danielle smiled back and allowed her father to cup her face and the two then began to dance around the room, heading onto the balcony.

DANIELLE

I've been waiting

Wanting the same thing

DANNY

Looks like the apple doesn't fall far

DANIELLE

Took you a while

DANNY

I've missed that smile

BOTH

All that I'm hoping

Now that my eyes are open

Is that we can start again

Not be pulled apart again

Danny then changed into his ghost form and held onto his daughter as he began to take her on a flight through the clouds and into the sky.

Cause in the end

You are part of who I am

DANNY

I'll support your dream whatever lies in store

DANIELLE

And who could ask for more

BOTH

More than anything

More than anything

Danny flew down to a river and allowed Dani to feel the water in her hands before flying back up and heading near towards their home. He then threw her in the air and caught her in his arms and the two embraced each other in a hug, tears of happiness falling out of both their eyes.

More than anything

More than anything

I'm grateful you're my father/daughter more than anything

More than anything

They continued to hug as Danny landed back down on the balcony and changed back into his human form. Sam smiled at the two of them as the pulled apart.

Danny sighed and said with concern, "Okay sweetie. I'll call Jazz and she can get you the meeting with them, but once your there….I can't….go with you. I'm not ready to face them yet. Will you be okay?"

Dani smiled and said, "I'll be fine."

Danny smiled back and said, "That's my girl."

He sighed and then hugged her once again as he said, "Good luck kiddo."
