Author's Notes
Starting from this chapter and the rest of the entire story, Twilight Sparkle and her friends are now the heroic group called The Mane Heroes.
I don't want to say The Mane Six, Spike, & Starlight or The Mane Seven & Spike, because it sounds too wordy.
Shortening to The Mane Heroes is the best option in this fanfic story.
Thank you and enjoy.
5. Into the Everfree Woods
After the big send-off from Ponyville, The McDuck family and the Mane Heroes exited the town and arrived at the entrance of the Everfree Forest. Everyone looked at the forest, seeing how creepy it would be inside of it.
"Please tell me this is not the Everfree Forest you mentioned," Donald said with great fear.
"Would you believe me if I said yes?" Applejack replies to Donald.
"I said not to tell me that."
"I was just being honest, ya'll."
"It sure looks creepy in there," Della noted.
"Believe us, deary," Rarity says to Della. "You would not believe how horridly the Everfree Forest is. It's full of dastardly and disgusting magical creatures that will give my mane stand on its end."
"How do you know all this?" Webby asks.
"Darling, we've been into the Everfree Forest many times. We know all sorts of creatures living here."
"Oh, I still remember what kind of creatures live in the forest," Fluttershy said with concern. "There were cockatrices, a manticore, timberwolves, a hydra, and–"
"Yeah, I get ya," Louie said, agreeing with Fluttershy. "Louie out!" He then tries to walk away, but...
"Oh, no, you don't, lazy boy," Della said, halting the green hoodie duckling. "We work together as a family and stay together as a family."
"C'mon, Mom! All those hideous creatures are just too much for me. I wouldn't risk my life dealing with those horrifying monsters. I won't last a minute with them."
"Oh really?" Huey says skeptically, "Then how are you still alive after beating Pharoah Toth-Ra, our shadow selves from Magica's wrath, Lunaris's invasion, and all those other times you didn't want to get involved, yet you still do?"
"Yeeahh, look, I've been on many dangerous expeditions with you guys before, and right now, you are a big team. I think you'll be fine with one duck out of the group. So, I'll let you guys handle the rest as I whip a good business in Ponyville."
"Fine…" Della said, "but you might miss a golden, and I mean a golden, opportunity with us. Who knows, there could be some good treasure along our way to the tower."
Louie heard and realized. "Did I say out?" he said, "I meant 'in,' in, IN!" Louie then starts walking into the Everfree Forest. "What are we waiting for? Let's move out. Wait for Llewellyn Duck, my glorious treasure."
The other ducks and the ponies witnessed Louie.
"Worked like a charm," Della commented.
"Really now...?" Starlight said with grief.
Huey replies, "Believe us, he does anything for money."
The ducks and the ponies entered the creepy forest and passed many thick trees, muddy swamps, and rocky hills. But as the team kept going deeper into the forest, the place became more horrifying.
"This place sure is spooky," Webby commented.
Dewey then says, "It feels like a bigfoot is going to ambush you any moment."
"Or worse, a cockatrice..." Fluttershy said with great concern.
"Or... do you really want to hear something veeerry creepy?" Rainbow said as she tried to haunt the rest of the gang.
"Again, Rainbow?" Applejack said in irk.
"There's a scary rumor that a creepy pony lurks in the Everfree Forest. They say she's sooo scary, she haunts in your worst nightmares."
"Okay, Rainbow Dash," Twilight interrupts. "Enough of scaring our other world allies."
"Wait! It gets worst!"
"What? What?" Dewey said with little eagerness and intimidation. "What happened!?"
Rainbow continues, "She lurks within the dark shadows of trees looking for her prey. Then she spots you from the thick bushes. She slowly pops her head out of them."
Just then, a rustling sound came from the bushes behind Rainbow Dash. Everyone except Rainbow noticed. After a few seconds, a shadowy silhouette slowly rises from the bushes as its glowing eyes stare at Rainbow Dash. The ducks and the other ponies shivered.
"And, as she sees you, she's planning the perfect ambush that'll scare the hoofy-jeebies out of you." The shadowy figure kept staring at Rainbow and the rest of the team. "And as your back is turned away, she slowly creeps up on you." Then, just like Rainbow said, the dark figure approaches behind the blue pegasus without noticing. "And when she's very close to you, do you know what happens next?"
"She gets you?" Huey guesses while feeling frightened.
"Wait, how do you know I was going to say that?"
Huey didn't reply, but he kept his fearful expression and eyes on the creepy shadow figure behind Rainbow Dash. The blue pegasus pony catches Huey's drift, and she realizes with her eyes widen.
"She's behind me, huh?" Rainbow asked with fear.
Rainbow Dash then shakes in fear as both her eyes move back to the side. She then turns around slowly. After she does, she sees the dark shadow figure with glowing eyes staring at Rainbow Dash. The blue pegasus pony paused in great fear for a few seconds, then...
"YEE-AAAWWWWW!"
Rainbow Dash screamed in great fear and flew back to the gang. A few members of the big team screamed in fright.
"Get behind me, boys!" Della ordered. The triplets heard and stood behind Della for protection.
Webby quickly hides behind Scrooge McDuck as the trillionaire duck gets into his fighting stance while wielding his cane.
"What is that!?" Webby cried.
"The monstrosity that Rainbow mentioned," Scrooge noted.
"Eek!" Pinkie screamed. "The rumor of the creepy pony living in the Everfree Forest is true!"
"But... that's impossible!" Rainbow said. "I made the whole thing up just for a scare."
"You what?" Huey said with irk.
"That's not funny!" Rarity yelled with little anger.
The ducks and the ponies all got into their caution state as the shadowy figure kept staring at the team.
Scrooge remains firm and says, "One more step towards us, and you'll regret you eva face me or threatening me family, ya dreadful demon."
Then the shadowy figure replies, "Do not fear every pony, for I am no monster in a cloak. Though Rainbow, it is not wise to scare others just for a joke."
But at that moment, the ponies blinked in surprise.
"Wait, that voice," Applejack said.
"And that rhyming," Fluttershy noted.
Rarity then says, "Is that…?"
The shadowy figure in the cloak removes its hood to reveal its face. And showing to the team is a zebra's head, grinning at them.
"Zecora!" Twilight said with glee.
"Zecora!?" The McDucks said with surprise.
"It's good to see you again!" Twilight greeted and gave Zecora a hug.
"What are you doing here?" Spike asked.
Zecora, the mystic zebra, replies, "I was out on a stroll, gathering ingredients to make a mystic potion. Until I spotted you ponies, with Princess Twilight, out in the open."
"But why did ya surprise us like that?" Applejack said with irk.
"Yeah," Fluttershy agrees, "You scared us."
The mystic zebra replies, "I never intended to give all my special friends such a fright. I was only teaching Rainbow Dash what she's doing isn't right."
The ponies, Spike, including the ducks stare with irk at Rainbow Dash. The blue pegasus noticed and turned embarrassed. "He-he… Sorry…" she apologized.
Zecora then says, "It is very fortunate and proud to see such wonderful familiar faces. Although…" The zebra then notices the McDuck family. "These ducks are new to me, as I never seen them in any different places."
Fluttershy replies, "That's because Zecora that these are special ducks. These ducks are from another world." Zecora heard Fluttershy, and the zebra blinked in surprise.
"Aye, Miss Zecora," Scrooge said and smiled. "Ye yellow-winged mare pony is right. We're the McDuck family, and pleased to meet ya." Scrooge's family all smiled for Zecora.
The mystic zebra happily replies, "I've encountered many creatures in this forest and many locations I've traveled. But I would never expect unique ducks not from Equestria, for I am bedazzled. But certainly, these unique feather friends came to Equestria for a good reason. And I assume they are related to our Equestria's magic depletion?"
"That's right, Zecora," Twilight said. "How do you know about that?"
"The quaking from the grounds, and those beams sending to that building in the sky, I know for sure these ducks are here to fix that cause; for that, I cannot lie."
"Well, despite your creative rhyming, you're right about that," Louie agrees with Zecora. "We're here to stop an evil buzzard that's stealing the magic of Equestria."
"And we're heading to a tower that resides on the other side of this forest to destroy it," Huey stated. "That tower is stealing the magic and sending it to the flying fortress where Bradford stays."
Zecora the zebra heard and replied, "You ducks show determination and diligence, being keen to achieve this inevitable quest. But sheer willpower won't get you past this forest and to the tower in the far west. So please tell me, ducks, for it is essential. Have you come prepared with equipment that has potential?"
"Equipment?" Dewey asked.
Webby hears and says, "Well… we arrived in Equestria in such a haste, and we couldn't lose track of Bradford. It was sort of… in the heat of the moment if you ask."
"Me daughter's right," Scrooge agrees. "All I have on me is me trusty cane…"
"My Junior Woodchuck guidebook…" Huey says as he shows Zecora his boys' scout book.
Finally, Launchpad says, "And I have my Darkwing Duck bobblehead with its speaking catchphrase." Launchpad taps the bobblehead as it then says Let's get dangerous.
"Really, L.P.?" Della said with grief. "You brought that piece of junk with you?"
"Hey! This cool bobblehead gives me fighting confidence whenever he says his catchphrase." The ponies and Spike turned awkward to Launchpad.
Zecora hears the McDucks' situation, but she replies, "In your current status, you will not be able to overcome this challenge, especially through this forestry. But fear not, for I shall give useful equipment for our feathery friends with such great purity. Please come with me, my hut is not far from here. From there, I would like to get to know you ducks and provide you proper gear."
The ducks heard Zecora, but the McDuck family is a bit skeptical of Zeroca. "Can we trust her?" Scrooge asked.
"Oh, don't you worry, ducks," Applejack said with a grin. "Zecora is our friend, who helped us many times in our past missions."
"How can you be sure?" Louie questioned.
Applejack removes her cowboy hat and places it on her chest. She then says, "If there's one thing you should know about me, I never lie."
"For reals?" Webby asked with a little surprise. "You're not exaggerating, are you?"
"I'm living up to my honest apple word cuz something foolish I've done as a filly, but that's another story, my friends." All of Applejack's friends agree with the apple farm pony.
The ducks heard and took A.J.'s statement, and the whole followed Zecora back to her hut.
A few minutes passed, and the ducks and ponies arrived at Zecora's hut. They all stepped inside the zebra's home, and the ducks examined the place. To their awing sight, they see all the masks and potions hanging on the wall and shelves.
"Bless me bagpipes," Webby said with amazement.
"Ye said it, me girl," Scrooge agreed.
Huey observes and says, "Huh, the designs and architecture of these items are related to the African culture back in our home."
Louie picks up one of Zecora's potions from the shelves and becomes intrigued. "Ooo," Louie said with curiosity, "I wonder what this baby can do? Gives you superpowers?"
Zecora noticed Louie. She tells the green duckling, "I would not drink that serum, for it does not give you magical abilities. Instead, it provides you skin diseases, body aches, and even fatal possibilities."
Louie heard the zebra and quickly put the serum back on the shelf. "I didn't touch it!" he panicked.
Zecora then says, "Come now, ducks. There's much we need to discuss. For what brings you here in Equestria and with all this ruckus?"
The ducks gathered around Zecora as they discussed the McDucks' presence in Equestria and their big mission. Twilight and her friends joined their discussion. After the McDucks introduced themselves to Zecora, the mystic zebra heard and understood.
"I can now see you're very special ducks that surpass many tests and challenges in your world and hometown. You might have what it takes to save Equestria and defeat Bradford's showdown. This adventure you are all on is a big journey full of many dangers and traps. But fear not, my brave duck friends, for I have something to cover your feathery backs."
Zecora then walks to a big chest in the back of her hut and opens it. After she does, she turns back to the McDuck family.
"Please come to me one at a time, for I present you something worthy of your prime."
The McDucks heard the zebra, and Huey decided to approach Zecora first.
"Huey Duck, a wise, skillful triplet and a senior Junior Woodchuck. I present a suitable weapon for such a clever duck." Zecora searches and brings a wooden bow and a quiver bag, both carved from solid wood and tough vines. Huey turned to awe. "A bow and this quiver bag are just what you need, Huey. A duck with skillful tactics requires this long-range beauty."
Huey is awed by the bow and quiver bag. He takes it and wraps the quiver bag around his back. Huey says, "This is fantastic for a Junior Woodchuck like me, but where can I get arrows? This bow is nothing without them."
Zecora happily replies, "If strong and fast-flying arrows are what you seek, then watch how this quiver bag does something unique." Zecora then brings out long twigs, feathers, and a bunch of rocks. She places them into the quiver bag and continues to speak. "Add these materials into this bag, with just a mixture of magic from a unicorn or alicorn ..."
Zecora turns Twilight and nods to her. Twilight noticed, and she cast a beam onto the quiver bag. The quiver bag glowed, and a bright light beamed from the bag. Huey and everyone else observed in awe. Then in the next second, arrows suddenly appeared in the quiver bag. They all sparkled, brand new.
"Behold, Huebert Duck," Zecora speaks again, "for you can now fight your enemies with these suitable arrows, freshly made and born."
Huey becomes amazed, pulling out an arrow and making an archery pose. Huey smiles and says, "Watch out, villains. Senior Junior Woodchuck Huebert Duck is ready for action and villain meddling."
"Lookin good, Huebert," Della complimented.
"Wow," Webby said excitedly, "he looks like Robin Hood when he does that pose."
Applejack hears Webby. She says in pondering, "Uh, don't ya mean Robin Hoof?"
"No, A.J., I really mean Robin…" But Webby froze and realized Applejack's point of view, almost forgetting that the ducks are in a pony world. "…Hoof. Right, Right, Right… Robin Hoof, Correct."
After Huey thanks and leaves Zecora for the bow and quiver bag, Dewey approaches the zebra next. Dewey has a confident grin on his face.
Zecora says, "Such confidence and boldness I can see, coming from your expressed face. I have something useful, one who is brave, in Dewey's case."
Zecora searches in her trunk. She brings out and shows Dewey a big knife. Attached to its handle are feathers and African-like trinkets.
"Carved out of pure mystic metal and sturdy weaving made by my ancestors. A powerful machete for you to have, for a duck who is a heroic protector."
Zecora gives the machete to Dewey, and the blue duckling receives it. Dewey takes the knife and raises it toward the ceiling while making a heroic pose.
"Aw yeah!" Dewey cheered. "This is how I Dewey this!"
"So… awesome!" Rainbow Dash complimented.
"…That Dewey looks more heroic with that blade?" Starlight commented.
"No, his catchphrase."
Starlight makes a grief face and shakes her head at Rainbow Dash.
Zecora also provided Dewey with a sheath to put his machete away. After Dewey stores the knife and leaves Zecora, Louie, the last triplet, comes forth to Zecora.
The zebra says, "Louie Duck, a cunning duckling who sees all the angles in his view. You deserve a special equipment that I have prepared for you."
Zecora once again investigates her trunk and pulls out the item for Louie. When she presented the object to Louie, the green duckling turned grieved. Showed to Louie is brown weaved googles with blue crystalized lenses attached to them.
"Goggles!?" Louie said in anguish. "Are you kidding me, Miss Zebra? I look like a nerd if I wear them."
"Do not mock these special specs, for it gives you an advantage of what you desire. Wear them, and you see all angles, including treasures you like to acquire."
Louie heard and replied, "Well, if this thing helps me find valuable treasures for a good market selling price, then deal." Louie takes goggles and returns back to his family.
Webby is next as she stands next to Zecora. The speaks again.
"Fearsome Webbigail Vanderquack, such incredible skills from your grandmom. I have something for your spying efforts, as you can call it the bomb."
Zecora looks into her trunk again and shows Webby two thick sticks attached to a chain link.
"Crafted by a skillful warrior who uses these with a pack. He showed no mercy to his enemies and gave them a good whack. He gave me these as a trade and hoped one day, some pony would possess this great power. Today Webby, it is you to take these nunchucks and use them, for it is your finest hour."
Webby becomes excited, and she immediately takes the nunchucks from Zecora. She then swings and practices with the nunchucks, knowing all the moves Mrs. Beakley taught her. Finally, Webby makes a final pose and cheers, "Hi-ya! Baby!"
"Wow!" Spike said with amazement. "She looks totally fierce with those big sticks."
"Hoo-wee! Ya don't wanna mess with her," Applejack said and warned.
Webby bows like a taichi, thanking Zecora for the nunchucks. Zecora bows in return, and Webby returns to the McDuck family.
Soon every McDuck family member received special equipment and gear given by Zecora. Della receives a spyglass and a compass. Donald Duck gets a large messenger bag with medical supplies to protect his family. And Launchpad earns a large traveling bag with exploration kits, camp cooking materials, and food supplies.
All that is left is Scrooge McDuck, who lastly approaches Zecora.
The zebra says, "And last but not least, the greatest duck of them all. Scrooge McDuck appears before me in my final call."
"Now, Miss Zecora," Scrooge speaks, "I am humbly pleased by your generous offers to help me and me family. But true to me word, I work smarter, not harder. I don't need any of your fancy and top-notch artillery to handle any enemies standing me wae."
Zecora hears, smiles, and replies, "I completely understand for a humble duck to earn his efforts with such content. But at least let me give you a special trinket for this fateful event."
Zecora then closes the trunk and heads to a tied bag on a shelf. She grabs the grab and opens it. Zecora then presents Scrooge with red, blue, and green orbs connected together in a leather string.
"Please provide me your trusty cane. Fear not, for it is not insane."
Scrooge hears and offers his cane to Zecora. The zebra takes it, and she ties the orbs to McDuck's trusty cane. The zebra gives back the cane to Scrooge.
"Take these special orbs as a good luck charm in your glorious journey. But remember that these magical gems are useful and truly worthy."
"Thanks for the sparkling trinkets, me mystic mate. Although, luck has nothing to do with my success. But I'll keep these beautiful treasures to remember your generosity."
Every duck receives their own useful equipment, ready to tackle the dangers in the Everfree Forest and throughout their quest. The Mane Heroes observed the ducks, and the ponies turned amazed.
"Ooo!" Pinkie Pie said with great awe. "Look at you. You almost look like superheroes with those things."
"Technically, I call us the brave and adventurous McDucks, in my case," Huey commented.
"You ducks look like you're fully prepared for our big quest now that you've got proper equipment," Starlight stated.
"Whoa, Nelly," Applejack says, "ya don't wanna mess with these ducks now, partners."
Zecora then sees the Mane Heroes and speaks, "I'm sure you ponies would want helpful gear to aid our feathery allies. But the way you are, your skills alone have overcome many previous challenges and thwarted tough bad guys."
"Gear?" Rainbow Dash said with a little mock, "We don't need no stinkin' gear! We're totally awesome just being our super-duper selves."
Rarity follows, "Why, just with our magic, fast flying, and incredible strength is just good enough to surpass many dreadful obstacles standing in our way, darling."
"I completely agree," Twilight said. "We'll all be just fine the way we are."
Zecora continues to smile. She then says, "This is all I have to offer on your inevitable journey, my magical ponies and daring McDucks. The only thing left for me to say is I wish all of you the best of luck. Head out towards the deeper and darker area of the forest towards the west. Continue there to complete and save Equestria on your fateful and magical quest."
"Will do, Miss Zecora," Scrooge replies with a grin. "Will do."
Immediately, The McDucks and Mane Heroes exited Zecora's mystic hut and continued heading west to the tower. As the team left, they waved goodbye to Zecora. The zebra, standing at her front door, waved farewell as well.
The ducks and ponies ventured deeper into the forest as it now got darker due to the thick trees. Launchpad takes out two lanterns that came with his traveling bag and gives them to Scrooge and Della. Both ducks lit up the lanterns. Twilight and Rarity use their horns as a glowing light to shine on the dark area of the forest.
"Man! It's pitch black in here," Della said with irk.
"I know, right?" Rarity agrees. "Why, I could barely see my gorgeous mane in this frightful darkness."
"Is that all you can think about, Miss Arrogant?" Rainbow Dash mocked in irk.
Rarity gasped at Rainbow's insult. "I beg your pardon, Miss Rudeness! Is it not a crime for one to look fabulously beautiful to any pony and have acknowledging compliments?"
"Not as acknowledging awesome as being a cool athlete and a Wonderbolt like me. I seriously like winning and getting lots of cool trophies than some cheap award from a beauty contest."
"Well! I, for one, like to make myself a very good first impression of any pony. Unlike making the first slip-up and getting a ridiculous nickname like Rainbow Crash."
"Oh yeah, Miss Fake Eyelashes!?"
"Why, yes, Miss Boastful Dash!"
"Alright, y'all!" Applejack interrupted the two ponies. "Enough with the 'Misses,' and let's continue before this becomes a reckless rodeo on a silent starry Saturday evening."
The triplets observed the two ponies' feud.
"I didn't expect that mares have such tensed attitudes like we do," Huey noted.
"Oh, come on, Huey," Dewey speaks, "They're girls! What do you know about them getting into disputes over every trivial matter? If you ask me, I'd say girls are so dramatic and exhilarating that it's stinky annoying."
But then Dewey flinches with an uneasy feeling. He turns around and sees Webby staring in with an irritated expression and her arms crossed toward Dewey. The blue triplet giggles in embarrassment for Webby.
Webby says, "If you ask me, I'd say your inappropriate and reckless behavior is stinky annoying."
"Ugh! You're for one thing, you're right," Louie agrees. "You really are stinky." Louie covered his nostrils on his beak and waved the stench away from him.
Webby noticed too, and she covered her beak from the foul stench. "Woo! Dewey! When did you last bathe?"
Dewey heard and replied, "I'm that smelly? I know I work up a sweat, but I can't be that stenchy."
With his beak covered, Huey then comments, "Perhaps you should've used the fresh feather oil shampoo Uncle Donald offered. Boy, you stink."
A couple more ducks and a few ponies smelled the horrid stench and covered their nostrils.
"And very foul one, too," Starlight agrees while covering her muzzle.
"Wait a minute!" Spike called out. The team heard Spike. The dragon analyzes the smell and blinks in shock as he recognizes the scent. "Uh, guys… I know this smell, and we better get out of here."
"Uh, what's wrong with that?" Launchpad questions.
"This stench belongs to those terrifying four-legged–"
GRRRAAAOOOOOOORRR!
A loud roar screamed and alerted the ducks and the ponies. They all turned jolted.
"What was that!?" Donald asked in fright.
"I know that sound…" Applejack said with fear. "That's the sound from a–"
Suddenly, a rustling noise from the nearby bushes and a growling sound sounded near the two heroic teams. The heroes jolted again, and they slowly turned to the source. A few seconds later, something appeared before the team.
What stands before the ducks, the ponies, and Spike are a pack of living hounds, all made entirely of thick branches and wood. Their eyes glowed dank yellow, and the wooded creatures stared viciously at the heroes.
As the heroes see the presence of the wooded hounds, Applejack and Spike finish saying…
"…Timberwolf…"
The timberwolves then roared and howled at their prey.
"Curse me kilts!" Scrooge yelled.
"Ah, Phooey!" Donald and Della shouted at the same time.
Then the Timberwolves leaped toward the ducks and the ponies.
"Watch out!" Twilight warned the gang.
The team heard and avoided the timberwolves' pounce. Instantly, the ducks and the ponies engaged in the battle of the timberwolves.
A timberwolf spots Scrooge McDuck, but the trillionaire duck makes a fighting stance as he wields his cane like a sword.
Scrooge tells the timberwolf, "Try and come at me, ye mangy madrona mongrel!"
The timberwolf quickly leaps toward Scrooge McDuck. The wooded hound is about to bite Scrooge. But as it gets closer to the elder duck, Scrooge uses his cane to wedge into the timberwolf's, immobilizing its jaw from closing. The timberwolf steps back and tries to shake off the cane wedging in its jaw.
Suddenly, Starlight appears in front of Scrooge, and the unicorn shoots a turquoise beam straight into the timberwolf's mouth. The wooded hound unintentionally swallows Starlight's beam, and after it does… BOOM! The Timberwolf exploded into twigs and branches. Scrooge's cane is sent flying right back to the elder trillionaire, and he catches it.
"Wow, Scrooge," Starlight said with amazement, "That was bold and clever."
"And you're pretty fierce ye self for a headmare of a friendship school," Scrooge replies.
Dewey and Applejack are being tailed, no pun intended, by a timberwolf. The blue-shirt duck and the farmer pony kept shifting and dodging with each pivot turn from the timberwolf's attacks.
"This timberwolf is relentless like a sly fox who won't give up a wild rabbit chase," Applejack commented.
Dewey replies, "I don't get your country accent, but we're about to become plant food if that timberwolf catches us."
But Dewey looks and spots a thick branch just above him. Dewey then comes up with an idea.
"Hey, Applejack!" Dewey called, "You got a rope on ya?"
"Sure do, partner," Applejack replies. "Why?"
"You like the truth. So, can ya trust me?"
The farmer pony hears and becomes a bit skeptical, but... "What do ya have in mind?"
"Hand me your rope and let me get on your back!"
"Well, Alright."
Applejack quickly gets Dewey her back and gives him the rope. Dewey then swirls the rope in the air and then lassos to the branch. The rope latches to the branch. Then Dewey held tightly both Applejack and the rope.
"Hang on!" Dewey warned Applejack.
The farmer pony heard and braced herself. Dewey keeps holding onto the rope, and it makes a tight and stretch flick. Tied with the branch, the rope then makes a big overhead loop and swing for both Applejack and Dewey. The timberwolf zipped through under the pony and the duck overhead swing. The wooden wolf noticed and turned surprised.
But as the pony and duck start to come down, Applejack reacts fast and turns firm. She extends her strong apple-bucking legs. Applejack dives fast onto the timberwolf and Bam! The timberwolf is pounded to the ground in pain, chafing and disintegrating into many wooden pieces.
Dewey gets off of Applejack and cheers, "Nailed it!"
"Yee-hoo!" Applejack cheers. "That was some fancy maneuvering there, little ducky."
Louie, Webby, Della, Rarity, and Spike are battling a Timberwolf approaching the ducks and the ponies with every step. Webby brought out her nunchucks and made a fighting stance.
The timberwolf leaps towards the gang, but Spike comes forth and immediately spews out a massive green flamethrower at the wooden wolf. Weak against fire, the timberwolf felt the intense pain and heat from the flame, and the wooden hound disintegrated into ashes. The ducks and Rarity cheered for the little dragon.
"Oh! My little Spikey-Wikey!" Rarity said with joy and hugging Spike, "My noble, brave, and bold knight dragon."
"Aw, gee..." Spike said with his face blushing.
"That was some great flamethrowing there, Spike," Webby stated. "My nunchucks would no match for that."
Louie pulls out the goggles he got from Zecora and observes them. "Not as bad as these cheap goggles," Louie complained. "You got a weapon, and I got these lame geeky glasses from that lame zebra."
Louie then puts the lens of the goggles over his eyes. He then sees a blue-shaded scenery all around him. Louie becomes irked and says, "Perfect, just perfect! That striped four-legged horse just gave me worthless night vision goggles."
"Really?" Della said and pondered, "But Zecora gave you those special glasses that support your skills."
Louie heard and turned to his mother. When he does, Louie sees through the goggles that Della is glowing, radiating all around her body.
Louie says, "If these geeky glasses can spot living things using thermal vision, then how am I supposed to find treasures when–"
But Louie stopped talking when he spotted something glowing from the bushes behind Della. Observing carefully through the goggles, Louie sees another Timberwolf about to pounce on Della. Louie reacted.
"Mom!" Louie shouts, "Behind you!"
Della jolted and heard. She quickly turned around as Louie warned her. She spotted the bush rustling, and then suddenly, a Timberwolf leaped out from the bushes and headed towards the two ducks. Della braces for the timberwolf's attack.
But Webby reacted fast and got in front of Della. Webby stretches out her nunchucks in front of her, and the Timberwolf bites the chains of Webby's nunchucks. The wooden wolf then pulls the nunchucks along with Webby. But the duckling girl reacts and quickly gets onto the back of the Timberwolf. She pulls her nunchucks, and the chains are pulled to the end of the Timberwolf's jaw. She uses her hand weapon as reins on the timberwolf. Webby rides on the Timberwolf as the wooden hound tries to shake off Webby. The ducks, Rarity, and Spike see Webby ride like on a rodeo ride.
"Yeeee-haw!" Webby cheered.
"Ride 'em, Webby!" Della cheered.
The timberwolf kept jumping and hind-kicking to get Webby off its back. But Webby kept hanging onto the squirming wolf and riding like a rodeo.
"Sweet Celestia!" Spike said with great awe. "Look at her go."
Webby kept riding on squirming timberwolf until she spotted a vine hanging from a tree. She quickly grabs the vine and makes her next move. Webby finally flings off from the wooden wolf at the last hind kick. Using her nunchucks, Webby pulls and flips the timberwolf via its mouth, making him land on its back. Instantly, Webby uses the vine and wraps all the timberwolf's paws and legs, tying them into a curled-up ball.
Webby makes a victory pose with her nunchucks. Webby's skills amaze Louie, Della, Rarity, and Spike.
Webby turns to Spike and commands, "Quick, Spike! Roast him!"
Spike heard and nodded. He takes a big breath and immediately spews a green flamethrower at the wolf, burning it into ashes. Once the Timberwolf is finished, Spike and Webby give a high-five.
"My goodness!" Rarity said great surprise. "That was quite the performance there, Webby darling."
"Thanks, Rarity," Webby replies, "but I wouldn't save Della in time if Louie didn't warn about the timberwolf hiding in the bushes." Webby turns to Louie. "How did you know where the timberwolf was hiding?"
Louie replies, "These goggles help me spot that wolf hiding in the bushes. Maybe these worthless goggles are valuable after all…"
"And you said they were lousy..." Della commented with a cheeky tone.
"Hey, a treasure-finding duckling can change his mind," Louie stated calmly.
Huey and Twilight are together, hiding behind their own tree. A Timberwolf prowls around nearby, searching for Huey and Twilight.
"That timberwolf won't stop until it spots and devours us," Twilight noted. "I don't know how we are going to stop it."
Huey hears and thinks about a good plan. But then Huey looks up and spots a big boulder hanging on a small hill's ledge. When he witnessed the scene, Huey's mind hit an idea.
"Twilight," Huey says and gets the alicorn princess's attention, "are you brave enough to be live bait for me?"
Twilight hears Huey and says, "I assume you have a plan?"
Huey responds to Twilight with a nod. Then the red hat duckling explains to the alicorn princess of his plan.
The timberwolf keeps sniffing and searching for its prey until…
"Hey, you!"
The timberwolf heard Twilight's voice and turned around. The wooden hound sees Twilight Sparkle, who has her guard up.
"You want me? Then come get me!" Twilight shouted to the wooden hound.
The alicorn then immediately runs away from the timberwolf, and the wooded wolf chases after Twilight.
Twilight keeps running away from the timberwolf and leading into the trap Huey instructed her. Within the bushes and trees, Huey sees Twilight heading towards the hill with the boulder on the ledge. The red hat duckling then brings out his bow and arrow. He takes aim and pulls the string with the arrow back. Huey then waits for the right time.
Twilight approaches the hill within a few seconds with the boulder on the ledge. The timberwolf is close to Twilight, and the wooden hound opens its jaw, ready to bite the alicorn. But when Twilight is within a few feet of the hill, she makes her horn glow.
Huey noticed Twilight's horn glowed as if it was her signal. He instantly let goes of the string and shoots his arrow. The arrow flies towards the ledge. Then Twilight's horn glowed in a very bright light, and then… Flash! Twilight vanishes, and the timberwolf misses the alicorn and slams into the dirt wall of the hill. At the same time, the arrow hit a few pebbles that are holding the boulder on the ledge. The striking impact nudges the pebbles to roll off one by one, causing them to loosen the boulder and slowly tilt.
The Timberwolf shook its head to regain consciousness. It instantly then gets onto its four feet. But the Timberwolf heard something and looked up. And it turns shock that the huge boulder is now falling right on top of the wooden hound. The Timberwolf tries to get away… BOOM! But it was too late for the boulder to fall and crush the Timberwolf, entrapping it underneath the huge rock.
Huey witnessed the Timberwolf's defeat and came out of the bushes. The red-hat duckling smiles in victory. Flash! Twilight Sparkle suddenly appeared next to Huey and saw the crushed Timberwolf.
Huey and Twilight turned to each other.
"Your plan worked, Huey!" Twilight cheered. "That was amazing!"
"Thanks, Princess Twilight," Huey replies.
"Oh Huey, just call me Twilight. I never thought you used the boulder like that."
"Well, I take heed of Junior Woodchuck rule number 538: Scan your surroundings and find something that can be useful to your situation and advantage."
Twilight becomes curious. "Huh, your guidebook piques my interest. Does it state about survival tips?"
"Trust me, Twilight. It has the answers to everything."
"Hmm… I'll have to read that…"
It didn't take long for both the ducks and ponies to defeat the Timberwolves.
Fluttershy shivers and Rainbow Dash protects her friend as a Timberwolf slowly approaches the ponies. But Launchpad whacked the wooden hound's head with a frying pan he got from his big traveling bag. The timberwolf is dazed by the conk on its head, and Fluttershy hugs L.P. for the save. The big pilot duck shyly smiles at Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash smiles for L.P.
Hapless Donald Duck is caught in another timberwolf's mouth and tries to break free. The wooden wolf tries to crunch Donald, and the unlucky duck suffers as he gets tired every second. But Pinkie Pie swiftly swoops into the rescue. She quickly pulled Donald Duck away and replaced her own party cannon into the wolf's mouth. The timberwolf turned surprise, but… TOOT! Pinkie pulls the trigger and makes the cannon fire, exploding the timberwolf into many wooden pieces. Donald wearily thanks Pinkie for the save.
The timberwolf witnessed their outcome. Realizing this, the pack turned cowardly and retreated deep into the woods. The ducks and the ponies cheered in victory.
"Aw yeah!" Rainbow Dash cheered. "We showed those Timberwolves who's boss."
"And we couldn't chase away those wooden mutts without your help, ponies," Webby stated.
"We should be thanking you, darlings," Rarity says back. "You have really proven to us you're far braver and fierce than just ordinary pond ducks. I'm simply quite grateful to team up with extraordinary birds from another world."
"Oh yes," Fluttershy agrees, "especially they can talk."
"Likewise," Della speaks, "who knew you mares have such incredible girl power, too. Plus, Spike being a bold dragon."
"Here that, Twilight," Spike says to the alicorn, "they called me bold." Twilight heard and rolled her eyes and smirked with little grief.
"Is everybody alright?" Scrooge asks the whole team.
Pinkie replies, "We're brigthy, mighty, flighty, highly, alright, Mr. McDuck!"
Donald turns aggressive and says, "I was this close to being dog food for those timberwolves, Uncle Scrooge!"
Scrooge turns a bit grief for Donald and says, "Ah, quit complaining, me nephew. Be glad you're still in one piece."
"Hey!" Spike speaks, "Is that light over there?"
Spike points to where the light is. Everyone looked and saw the sunlight shining at the far end of the Everfree Forest.
"I think it is, Spike," Twilight answers. "We must be reaching to the other end of the forest."
"Let's check it out," Huey suggests.
Everyone then walks towards the opening light. They all become eager to know what's on the other side of the opening light.
