The Confrontation

Jammies Jake and Pajama Sam came to an evil lair with dark laughter resounding from within. As soon as the two boys stepped a foot inside, they were encased in the same cage. They were brought into the cave and saw that their moms were still just as civil with each other as ever. There was a large machine with an input aimed at the boys and an output aimed at their moms.

"At long last," Argue-Man cackled, "Fran and Jan, you will know what it's like to be sad and alone. I'll power my invention, the Enemy-maker 2000, with the rival energy your sons will now helpfully provide."

Jammies Jake and Pajama Sam suddenly felt very foolish following Argue-Man. He turned on the machine, and it started warming up. Jammies Jake suddenly hugged Pajama Sam; there were tears in his eyes.

"I'm so sorry, Sam," Jammies Jake said, "I was so useless this whole adventure!"

"No, No," Pajama Sam replied, saddened, hugging Jake back, "You did what you could. I'm sorry I was so hostile, to begin with."

Jammies Jake said, "No, I should be sorry for my hostility; you were just defending yourself!"

The two boys both just sobbed in each other arms for a minute while Argue-Man stood there wholly flummoxed.

"What," Argue-Man asked, "What is happening? Why do I sense your energy changing?"

The boys calmed down and let each other go.

Jammies Jake asked, "Why were we so hostile anyway?"

Pajama Sam replied, "I think it's because neither of us liked the idea of being forced to hang out with someone we don't know. It just got worse as our moms forced us to hang out. They just expected us to get along like they do."

Jammies Jake then looked at Jan and asked, "What on earth were you thinking, Mom?"

Jan said, "Well, we noticed how similar you two were, and we just thought if we gave you enough time together, you would be friends."

Fran said, "I love you, Sam, but I worry for you. You only have imaginary friends, and I didn't want you to grow up socially awkward."

Both moms said earnestly, "We're sorry if we made you boys feel like you had to get along for our sake."

The boys replied, "We forgive you."

Then Argue-man snarled and said, "No! You can't do this to me! You can't just become friends over this!"

Pajama Sam said, "Sorry, Argue-Man, but we're a team now, and you are going down!"

Jammies Jake pulled out a dictionary and slowly read, "Fr-ee-dom."

The cages opened, and the two families reunited.

Pajama Sam asked, "Why were you trying to make our moms sad and lonely anyway?"

Argue-Man hissed, "Because that's how they made me feel for four long years back in high school."

Fran and Jan looked at Argu-Man more carefully and gasped, "Alvin?! What the flip?!"

Alvin said, "You both rejected me; you left me for those horrible men who were too selfish to be around for their kids. Now I want to be the wedge that makes you end your friendship."

Jammies Jake snapped, "My Dad died in a freak car accident last year, you psycho!"

Pajama Sam was shocked and asked, "How do you know that?"

Jammies Jake teared up and said, "My mom told me."

Pajama Sam explained, "My mom never told me what happened to Dad. I don't even remember if I met him."

Fran looked deeply saddened, "You did; it was just when you were a baby."

Pajama Sam asked, "So, what happened to him?"

Fran admitted, "I'm not sure; the last thing he ever did was divorce me and refuse child support or custody. Then he cut contact and never explained himself. I thought we were doing well, but he no longer loved our family. That was ten years ago now, and it still hurts."

Pajama Sam was also saddened and hugged Fran. After a minute, they let each other go.

"I'm sorry you can't let go of the past," Pajama Sam said to Alivn, "I hope that someday you're going to find somebody who will make you happy."

Alvin was just frozen in shock. They left the cave and used the scooter to get home.

"This won't be the last you hear from me," Alvin shouted as they flew off, "I'll get you boys yet, next time!"

"Alvin would later find himself the proud owner of a new puppy and became so happy he never made good on that promise," Pajama Sam concluded their story.

Jammies Jake added, "The End!"

Fran gushed, "That was a sweet little story, boys."

Jan also chirped, "You two did a great job helping us with our quilt!"

Jammies Jake said, "This was only the beginning; we have many more adventures in mind."

Pajama Sam said, "Until then, we are sorry to see Alvin go, but he was a real jerk behind your back."

Jan said, "We appreciate you two being so protective."

Fran said, "But don't be afraid to speak up sooner next time, okay?"

The boys said, "Yes, ma'am."
