Chapter 3. The Rush
Scott mastered his last reserve of strength to carry Hope in his arms, emerged from the portal, with Janet's assistance beside. Hank and Cassie, stood at the ready, rushed forward, their expressions drastically turned from relief to a tumult of horror and concern. The sight of Hope, battered and fragile, brought a collective gasp from the grandpa-granddaughter duo. Hank's usually composed demeanor faltered for a moment as his eyes locked onto Hope's unconscious form. A subtle tremor passed through him, as he quickly rushed to assist. The gravity of the situation etched lines of worry on his face, and he exchanged a glance with Janet, a silent understanding passing between them. "Come on, let's get her to the hospital." Hank led the way to his car outside, the entire family tagging closely along.
In the rush to the hospital, the van Dyne family operated with a seamless synergy born from shared experience and deep familial bond. Hank couldn't help but glanced at the mirror to check on her daughter every now and then, despite trying to drive smoothly and quickly to the hospital. Janet, with her scientific acumen and knowledge of Hope's suit, directed the efforts to stabilize her daughter during the chaotic journey. "We need to regulate the suit's energy output and monitor her vitals. Scott, support her head. Cassie, keep an eye on her breathing." Janet instructed, her tone a blend of urgency and authority. Scott cradled Hope carefully while Janet delved into the technical aspects of the Wasp suit. Cassie, though visibly anxious, hovered close to Hope, her watchful eyes tracking Hope's every breath. Her mind couldn't help but think that she's the cause for all of the pain to the family. If she hadn't insisted on sending the signal down to the quantum realm, none of this would have happened. Afraid of adding chaos and complications to the already frantic situation, Cassie decided to keep everything within. She bit back her tears, watching the bloodied and limp form of Hope, praying to whatever supernatural power there is to keep her alive. She also managed to steal a glance on her father, who is injured himself, seemed to be so disoriented and engulfed in deep grief and despair. Scott never took his eyes off Hope, his facial expressions now impossible to interpret. He was truly a total mess.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the van Dyne family seamlessly transitioned from their makeshift medical roles to the hospital staffs' care. The medical team, guided by Janet's insights, swiftly took over. Hope, now in the hands of professionals, was rushed into the emergency room.
