"Ah, the fresh air of freedom!" Luke said.
"You think he could really be Mom's brother?" Sonic asked.
"Well, his voice does sound familiar..." Sonia said.
"Besides, why else would Buttnik have him in the clink?" Manic asked.
"I managed to conceal these from Robotnik in the hopes that some day I could bestow them upon you." Luke said and Sonic, Manic and Sonia gasped. "They bear the royal family crest. Wear them, always!"
"I don't get it. Why the mask? And how come we've never heard of you before?" Sonic said.
"It's the law! There can be only one ruler of Mobius. I was forced into exile, and then when your mother vanished, Robotnik imprisoned me, afraid that I would claim the throne!"
"Aw, bummer! Major drawback to royalty." Manic said.
"Don't worry, bro. When I'm ruler, you won't have to vanish!" Sonic said.
"You? Hah! A ruler needs some culture and sophistication. You can't serve chili dogs at a royal banquet! Besides, I will never wear a mask. Talk about a clashing accessory!" Sonia said.
"Hey, I'm the true representative of the people!" Manic said.
"Hey! I don't recall saying you were the leader."
"Oh, like Miss Perfect doesn't think she's queen already!"
"You've got to admit, I look best in a crown!"
"I'm saying that once I'm ruler, I'm sure we can work somethin' out for you two." Sonic said.
"Hmph. Frankly, I don't think either of you are up to the royal job."
"Oh yeah?!" Sonic and Manic said.
"Yeah!"
"Look out! More of Robotnik's troops!" Luke said.
Sonic and Sonia gasped.
"Hit it, sibs!" Sonic said.
"Just because I've lived on the streets all my life doesn't mean I can't handle the crown!" Manic said.
"Dream on! I'll be wearing the crown."
"You? I'd look much better in a crown! Diamonds go with my eyes." Sonia said.
Robotnik sniggered.
"Ah, yes! Already the break-up has started, just as I planned. And all it needs is one more little... push." he said.
"Give it more gas!" Manic said.
"Sure, so the wheels can spin even more!" Sonic said.
Sonic, Manic, and Sonia sighed.
"If you were to steer Mobius the way you steer a van, then we'd all be on the road to disaster!" Sonia said.
"Yeah, well, if you become ruler, I'll vanish on purpose!" Sonic said.
"Argh!" Manic said.
"Just so I don't have to listen to you!"
"Well if that's how you feel, then I'll just leave! Go off by myself." Sonia said.
"Yeah! This hedgehog never needed anyone before and he doesn't now." Sonic said and she and Sonia part ways. "As of now, the Sonic Underground is through! We each go our own way, and may the best ruler win."
Three year later.
Sonic was running through the desert when Tails and Knuckles came flying by in the Tornado 2.
"Hey look! It's Sonic!" Tails said and lowered the plane to greet her.
"Yo Tails! Long time no see!" Sonic said.
"Sonic! Check this out!" he said and held out a letter from Eggman.
She jumped and grabbed it, then started reading it. The message was
"Muhahahaha! Guess what, Sonic Heroes... I've finally developed the ultimate weapon! In three days, I'll conquer the world. Think you can stop me? Ahahahaha!" holographic Eggman said.
"Hmm... sounds like an invitation to party!" Sonic said.
"What are we gonna do, Sonic..." Tails asked.
"No worries, we've got this one." Knuckles said.
"Heh, think I'd miss this?! Time to crack that Eggman wide open... Yeah, let's party!" Sonic said and Tails and Knuckles jumped off the plane and followed her through the desert.
Later the Egg Hawk flew by over ocean ruins.
"Muhahaha! Stop your futile efforts! You'll just make fools of yourselves." Eggman said.
"Hmph! I think you got that backward, doc!" Sonic said.
Later after the fight Team Sonic arrived at Grand Metropolis where futuristic cars were speeding through the modern city.
"Looks like Eggman escaped into the city." Knuckles said.
"Eggman's robots are taking control of everything!" Tails said.
"Let's find Eggman and show him the real power of teamwork!" Sonic said.
Then they saw Team Rose waiting on a high platform in Grand Metropolis for them to show up.
"Gotcha! My darling Sonic!" Amy said.
"Amy, what are you doing here?" Sonic asked.
"Sonic, this time there's no way outta marrying me!"
Later Team Sonic was walking along a red path at Casino Park.
"Boy, Amy sure doesn't give up that easy." Sonic said.
"What is this place... sure is bright here!" Knuckles said.
"We've got some time! Feeling lucky?"
"Sonic! We only have 24 hours left!" Tails said.
"OK! Let's go!" she said and they ran off from the distance.
Later Team Sonic was standing on top of a circular platform with Eggman hovering by.
"Eggman!" Knuckles said.
"Muhahaha. Why not have some fun while you can. After all, you only have one day and we know who's going to win!" Eggman said.
Soon Team Sonic was grinding on rails at Rail Canyon.
"Tails! How much time's left?" Sonic asked.
"We've got until sunset!" Tails said.
"Tails! Knuckles! Give it all you got... Full speed ahead!"
"Okay!"
"Got it!" Knuckles said and the Egg Albatross flew overhead in the canyon while they ran towards it.
"Sonic, look!"
"That thing is loaded with Eggman's weapons."
"Eggman, you're finished!" Sonic said.
When they defeated Eggman he was lying on the floor in Bullet Station. It was a model with an Eggman head on a spring sticking out of its stomach, set up as a decoy for them.
"Muhahaha! Once again, you fools have been tricked!" model Eggman said.
"It's a fake?!" Tails said.
"From these canyons, watch as I conquer the world with my air fleet... And this time you can't stop me!"
Then Sonic turned to see an enormous armada of ships in the sky.
"Drats... a trap to stall for time!" Sonic said and ran off.
"Sonic!" Knuckles said and tried to catch up.
After Tails left, the Eggman decoy melted into a purple liquid and reformed into Neo Metal Sonic.
"All life form data... successfully copied." Neo Sonic said.
Later Team Sonic was exploring while Team Dark was standing on a ledge above them. Then Shadow caught sight of the team.
"Look, it's that hedgehog..." Shadow said.
"Wonder what the big rush is all about? Betcha those guys will end up getting in my way and making trouble." Rouge said.
Knuckles noticed Team Dark above them.
"Hey, isn't that..." he said.
"Sonic!" Tails said.
"Heh. Talk about being stubborn and full of surprises..." Sonic said.
"Long time no see, boys! Too bad you had to come all this way for nothing! We'll take it from here." Rouge said.
"What'd you say?" Knuckles asked.
"Sensors locked on Eggman. Non-compliant intruders will be destroyed." Omega said.
"Hmm, didn't you know? We have a date with Eggman, too." Sonic said.
"Is that so... well then, it'll be a date to die for!" Shadow said.
"Hey! That's my line!"
Then Sonic and Shadow sprung into a battle.
After the fight Team Sonic was walking along the grounds of a haunted castle while Tails showed signs of fear.
"Sonic, you sure this is the right way?" Tails asked.
"I saw Shadow and Eggman head this way. This has gotta be the right way." Sonic said.
"But it's so spooky here."
"Maybe... that's the ghost of Shadow we saw earlier." Knuckles said and Sonic hit him in the shoulder.
"Whaaa...! Stop it, Knuckles!" Tails said and they turned their walk into a run.
Later the Egg Mobile flew overhead a platform where Team Sonic was standing at.
"Trying to stop us now? What a joke!" Sonic said and Eggman pounded the Egg Mobile with his hands.
"What did you say? Now I'm really mad!" Eggman said.
In the sky, the entire armada of the Egg Fleet was seen. Eggman taunted at the heroes at their attempt to reach him.
"Muhahaha... you fools must all have a death wish? Witness this invincible battleship, built by the hands of a genius. Its power... unmatched throughout the universe!" Eggman said.
Team Sonic was standing on a battleship warming up.
"Alright Eggman, let's get this party started!" Sonic said and they onfronted Eggman in his Egg Emperor at the core of the Egg Fleet.
"This time you won't get away!" Tails said.
"Give it up!" Knuckles said.
"This looks like checkmate, doctor!" Sonic said.
"Hmph! Enough of this! Sonic, Tails, Knuckles! Time to meet your maker!" Eggman said.
After the fight Eggman's flagship violently exploded, causing a chain reaction damaging other ships in the Egg Fleet while Team Sonic watched the pandemonium from an intact ship.
"Boy, talk about cutting it close..." Knuckles said.
"Eeh, not really." Sonic said.
"Come on, tell me you weren't scared. If it wasn't for us, you wouldn't have had a chance!"
"Well, maybe you're right. Thanks Knuckles. You too, Tails."
"Ahehehe..." Tails said.
Suddenly Amy appeared out of nowhere and found Sonic.
"Craaaaap." Sonic muttered while Knuckles tried not to laugh but was failing.
"Aha! Gotcha, Sonic! SONIC!" Amy said and made a beeline for Sonic who ran off and tried to evade her.
"Later guys, I'm outta here!"
"Hey, wait up Sonic! Get back here!"
Later Team Chaotix was in Eggman's jail cell.
"Then who was it? Who locked you up here for trying to conquer the world?" Vector asked.
"It was..." Eggman started.
Later a vast thunderstorm was raging in Eggman's fleet. Team Sonic, Team Dark and Team Rose converged on Neo Metal Sonic, who was standing at the top of a tower.
"Hmmhmmhmmhmm... All living things kneel before your master!" Neo Metal Sonic said creating an electrifying plume of light from his palm which blew up the tower. " Neo Metal Sonic said.
Team Chaotix joined the others just in time to witness him undergo a transformation, and the teams watched on in horror. In a vortex of bright light and smoke, Neo Metal Sonic attached parts of the destroyed tower to himself and transformed into an immense metallic beast known as Metal Madness. Metal Madness let out a deafening roar.
"Holy shit!" Knuckles said.
"Metal Sonic has finally transformed!" Eggman said and an enormous horde of panicked Egg Pawns made a hasty retreat to escape Metal Madness.
"So that's Metal Sonic?!" Sonic said.
'Jesus Christ! What the hell did he turn into over the years?'she thought and saw the same look on Knuckles' face.
"It's useless! Metal Sonic has combined your data with the power of Chaos and is super strong! We can't defeat it! Even with your medallion! Aargh... if only we had the seven Chaos Emeralds!" Eggman said.
Then Cream pulled out the yellow Emerald and showed it to him, and the others followed. Big had the purple one, Rouge had the white one, Omega had the green one, Sonic had the blue one, Espio had the red one and Charmy had the cyan one. Eggman was stunned at the sight of them.
"What's this? But how? Even with the Emeralds' power, our chances for victory are slim. It would take a miracle!" he said.
"Just leave that to me, Doc..." Sonic said.
"Sonic, no!" Amy said.
"I'm going with you, too!" Tails said.
"Tails..." Sonic said.
"You can count me in, too." Knuckles said. "Think of it as an apology after what I did that day three years ago." he whispered.
"Knuckles..."
"Okay guys, we'll buy you some time. That way you can use your super powers." Shadow said.
Team Dark, Team Rose and the Chaotix non-verbally affirmed that they'll fight in the upcoming battle. Tails and Knuckles stood by Sonic's side, who turned in a circle to address all his comrades at once.
"Okay then, let's get ready to do this. We'll show that creep the real super power of TEAM WORK!" Sonic said.
Having taken considerable damage, the furious Metal Madness flailed about and roared. Suddenly, his fingers burst off and were replaced by long, slender blades which resembled wings, making him airborne. He had transformed into Metal Overlord. With a flap of his wings, the metallic brute shot off into the skies. Team Sonic was ready for the next stage and nodded in agreement. As they placed their hands together, the Chaos Emeralds whirled rapidly around their heads. Sonic crossed his arms, closed his eyes and transformed into Super Sonic. Tails and Knuckles found themselves encased in a protective shield, levitate upwards and joined Sonic's side. Then they zoomed forward to finish Metal Overlord once and for all.
The defeated Neo Metal Sonic was crouched on the ground in hopelessness as Team Sonic rushed over to him. His body glowed white and he reverted back to ordinary Metal Sonic.
"It's no use... but why can't I defeat you?" Metal Sonic said.
"Heh. Because... we're Sonic Heroes!" Sonic said.
Then the other three teams arrived.
"Sonic!" Amy said.
"Anytime you want a rematch, just let me know. I'll be waiting." Sonic said and zipped away with Tails and Amy running after her.
"Hey Sonic, wait up!" Tails said.
"Sorry to leave like this, but I can't let my Sonic get away!" Amy said.
"Good luck, Amy!" Cream said.
"Bye-bye!" Big said.
"Chao Chao!" Cheese said.
"Sonic sure has her hands full." Knuckles said.
"I guess I'm outta here, too. I think I'll go hunt for someone else's treasure." Rouge said and strut away contentedly.
"She never gives up, does she?" he said and charged after her as she quickened her pace. "Oh no, you don't! Wait!"
"Guess that's it for this case." Vector said.
"Guess so." Espio said.
"But what about our money?" Charmy asked.
"Man, I almost forgot!" Vector said and Eggman was surreptitiously sneaking away, but the Chaotix saw him and gave chase. "That SLIME BALL!"
Omega was holding Metal Sonic in his arms. Shadow and Omega looked at each other in confusion.
Later Team Sonic was running through Seaside Hill.
"Alright! Our next adventure awaits us, so there's no time to waste! Yeah! We're SONIC HEROES!" Sonic said and her pals jumped and struck an ending pose.
