Manuela waited until she saw Montez leave the apartment. She got out of Finn's car and crossed the parking lot.
"Manuela," Montez lit up in a smile. "Where have you been all week?"
"Busy week at work. We got a deadline so I've been working my ass off," she said.
"You haven't been home at all. Are you sleeping in the office?" He asked.
"No, I've been home. I've just been quiet since you were all sleeping," she lied.
"Quiet as a mouse," he smirked. "I bet you can be so quiet that Bianca wouldn't even hear anything if we were to fuck while she was in the other room."
"Good thing we never have to find out," she said.
His smile fell and he crossed his arms.
"I need you to sign the new lease," he said.
"Right, I forgot about the lease," she said. "When will you be back from work today?"
"Around 4 PM," he said.
"I don't know if I'll be here by then but I'll try my hardest to be out of the office no later than 8 PM. I can't make any promises though," she said.
"Right. Deadline," he said. "Bobby wants to talk to you too. You missed him by 5 minutes but he'll be home later."
She just nodded her head and walked towards the apartment. She stopped by the front door and looked back. Montez was gone. She waved her hand in the air, and Finn jumped out of his car and ran up to her.
"No one should be home. Angelo is always the first one to leave," she said.
They walked inside the apartment and into her room. They packed all her belongings and carried them out in his car.
"What about the bed and dresser?" He asked.
"I'm not gonna need the bed when I'm sleeping with you," she said.
"No, you're not," he smirked.
He pulled her in for a hug and a kiss.
"I like the dresser if we can find a place for it in your house," she said.
"Our house," he corrected. "And of course we can. I'm expecting you to put your touch on our shared home. It's not my home anymore. It's our home, love."
"There's a homeless shelter close by. Maybe they want the bed. It can't hurt to give them a call and ask," she said.
"I love how you think," he said.
"Let's go home," she said.
Manuela waited another week before returning to the apartment. Montez, Angelo and Bobby had tried calling and texting several times but she never answered. Once the week was over and there was only one week left of her original lease, her and Finn returned to the apartment. She unlocked her room one last time and looked at the bed and the dresser left in there.
"Let's carry this stuff outside," he said.
They carried both furniture out in a trailer behind his car. The bed would be donated to the homeless shelter and the dresser would go back to their now shared house.
"I'll drive down there and have someone help me carry the bed inside while you finish up here," he said.
"Thank you," she said.
He took off and she walked around the apartment. The place had gotten so dirty over the last two weeks where she hadn't been home. No dishes had been cleaned, and all three men had a bad habit of leaving dirty clothes and used dishes all around the apartment. The place was beginning to stink. She walked into the bathroom and grabbed everything of hers. She had been the only one paying for shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste and toiletpaper so it was only fair she took everything with her. The same went with paper towels, soap and cleaning products. Everything was hers and she was not going to leave anything to her former roommates. Finn returned 20 minutes later and helped her load the rest of her things into his car.
"Now what?" He asked.
"Now I give Montez a call," she said.
"Remember to record it just in case," he said.
"Of course," she said.
She called Montez and put the phone on speaker so that Finn could listen in on the conversation.
"Where the fuck have you been?" Montez asked right away.
"Hello to you too," Manuela said.
"You've been ignoring our calls and texts," he said.
"Yes, I have," she admitted.
"You... Wait, what?" He asked.
"I'm moving out," she said.
"You can't do that. You signed a lease," he said.
"It only runs for another week. I'm moving out, Montez," she said.
"But the new lease," he tried.
"I haven't signed anything other than the original lease," she said.
She could hear his breathing take up. He wasn't happy one bit.
"I'll sue you," he said. "You promised to sign a lease and your word is your bond."
"I didn't promise anything. I said we could talk about it later. We are talking about it now. I've decided not to resign," she said.
"You said you would!" He shouted.
"Surely you have that in writing or a recording of me if you claim I did," she said.
"I'll make Angelo and Bobby say you did. No one will know we're lying. You lose, Manuela," he said.
"Then I'll play the recording of this phone conversation in court where you just confessed to be lying," she said.
"You're recording me?" He yelled. "You bitch!"
"I'll lock up and leave the key in the mailbox," she said.
"You stay where you are!" He yelled. "I'm on my way home."
She hung up and smiled at Finn.
"Let's go home," she said.
She locked up the apartment and put the key in the mailbox. They got out in Finn's car and drove away long before Montez made it home. She blocked all three of her former roommates' numbers and leaned back in the car seat.
"Have I told you lately how much I love you?" She asked.
"Not since this morning," he chuckled.
"I love you," she said.
"I love you too," he said.
He turned the corner and that same calm feeling of seeing their house came over her. This was what she wanted all along. A life with Finn. This was home.
