Multiverse! Mysterious Feline
Chapter 8: An Ally to have.
At a cafe' was where the blonde took Vei. Across from each other and in a booth against the large window, their gazes never faltered from one another. "There's no use in hiding it now. I saw," Tense, would be a good word to describe the air between them.
Sharp slits behind sunglasses bore with caution into blue eyes, Vei didn't care much for conversation. She did everything she could to avoid the blonde and everyone else, which was proving to be difficult. Nothing but silence was what she gave him, save for a fold of her arms and her back against the seat.
This guy's persistent. He's even buying lunch for us. How am I going to tell him?! If I avoid the subject he'll get more suspicious of me and probably have some friends follow me too... I can't let that happen. I'd have to talk to Rin about this. With a close of her eyes, she sighed and waited.
"Listen... Whatever it is- I'm not going to judge you for it. I'm also surprised you don't know who All Might is. Everyone does," Near the end, a bright smile lit up whatever shadow that loomed over their heads. With fingers intertwined and a close of his shaded eyes, he did his best to reassure her.
Rin, you there? Thoughts echoed as she asked and waited for a minute or so before another voice appeared.
I'm here, Vei... I know what you're about to ask. I heard. Don't tell him, find a way out of this if you can. Rin's answer made the hot-headed woman's gaze open and glare at the blonde. When her lips parted to speak, a boy's voice chimed in and drew closer by the second.
"Toshinori!" As bright as the sun, the boy with green hair greeted them and stopped next to the booth they sat at. "Hm? I- I'm so sorry! I hope I- I'm not interrupting anything!" Countless times he bowed to apologize and didn't even realize his embarrassed cheeks were as red as a tomato.
"No... It's alright. I was just about to leave," Quickly from her seat, Vei stood and walked past the concerned boy who stared. Anger, annoyance, the knitted brows behind her sunglasses luckily hid a lot of what she felt, and trudged past customers on her way out.
Side to side she checked and examined the citizens. Some strode along while others crossed to the other side of the mall, nonetheless, her boots made thuds after she turned to the right.
Alright, Rin, I'm free. That kid gave me enough of a distraction to get away. Now... I changed my mind about the bow and arrows. Maybe something less cumbersome? Any ideas? Vei's thoughts echoed as she explored the rest of the mall and looked up at the glass ceiling to check for any more possible ambushes.
I'd suggest something sharp-tipped with poison that you can throw. I recall the last time you fought Speed O' Sound Sonic, you tossed a doorknob and hit him with it. Perhaps something similar to that would be enough? Rin's thoughts rang through her head as Vei ignored the curious stares of some inhuman-looking citizens.
Sure. I can't risk something sharp tipped with poison, it'll kill. I don't want to kill if I can help it. Because for some reason, it's looked down upon in this world, and that damn person who lost control of his quirk... Yeah. Not to mention the jerk who jumped me and hopped around in the air on weird platforms. He had it coming and I'm surprised none of the heroes appeared when I blew his head off. A clear sign of annoyance was when an eye twitched behind her shades.
You could also use our backup method. Something you and I hardly used since our Master taught us the technique. Soft, nearly monotonous, mature, Rin suggested one last time and awaited Vei's answer.
Wait- you mean the pressure points? Why haven't I thought of that sooner?! In the situation we're in now, pressure points are the best option. I'll think about the doorknob idea, but the technique is a must. Thanks, Rin. On her lips, a smirk grew, and pondered the various points of the human anatomy to make herself remember.
I haven't practiced pressure points in a very long time, though. So if I screw up... Damn, whoever I puncture with my fingers could get paralyzed or would die. One thing's for sure, avoid the heart if I can help it. The one pressure point somewhere around a person's heart can temporarily paralyze a person's entire body. And another one a bit closer to the heart than that, can completely paralyze them for the rest of their lives. So, I have to be careful! I need to think long and hard for a while to remember the more important points to hit so I won't make as many mistakes. Determined now, Vei thought to herself and saw a woman with a bat charge past people and carry a stolen purse from another who yelled.
"Huh... Today's my lucky day. I get a tiny bit of practice in," she mumbled, and barely smiled when her hands rose and intertwined her fingers. Satisfying pops reached her ears when she bent them, and not long did her index and middle fingers press together to prepare. Okay- temporary paralysis. It was swift, she pondered and brought her fingers up at the moment when the woman was just about to pass by.
Above the heart was where she jabbed and missed the fatal blow by a few inches. The blow was hard enough to send the woman backward onto her butt and cry from the sudden blow.
"Ah! What did you do to me?! I can't move!" Yelled the immobile woman who lost the grip on her bat and the purse.
"Great... Let's hope this isn't permanent," To herself, Vei spoke quietly and watched the thug struggle to even wiggle her fingers, which she completely failed at doing. Ahead of her she saw another woman, an elder who was at a loss of air, caught up to them and looked down at her immobile frame.
"Who..." Dumbstruck, the elder questioned. Pink hair, short, pudgy with wrinkles, her gaze moved to the other who struck the thug.
"Take your purse," Vei was quick to answer and walked away from the scene, both hands were pushed into her pockets after she passed the old woman. All of the citizens stopped to watch and whispered among each other about the heroic deed she did, but it wasn't enough to make her halt in her step to give some sort of speech.
"Did you see that, Toshinori? That woman just poked her fingers at the thug and sent her backward. Wait- isn't that Recovery Girl?" Awestruck at the effortless move he had witnessed, the green-haired boy questioned the blonde behind him and couldn't break his curious stare.
"Yeah. Pressure Points by the looks of it. Anyway, what was it you needed, Midoriya?" Bright his smile was when he looked down at the boy with an awkward laugh. If his laugh didn't show it enough, the hand rubbing the back of his head was plenty of proof.
"A- Ah right!" The kid's nervousness made uneasy laughter, for he nearly forgot the reason for approaching him in the first place.

In a store, Vei wandered through isles and examined the shelves. The store was vast, it was a large market full of various wares and useful items. "I wonder if they have balls of steel... Something heavy and round," Her hidden slits examined each item she passed and crouched to see the ones at the bottom. "This isle should have something. This is the industrial section, so they should be here," Mumbling, pondering, she barely caught a glimpse of a man walking into the section and stopping dead in his tracks.
"Balls of Steel, they're used for mostly mechanical things right?" Quietly to herself, she questioned, stood up, and sighed. I'll probably have better luck finding explosive rounds at a gun store or something than this. I do need to restock though, I guess I can grab more sometime later or tomorrow. Even though she saw the movement in her peripherals, she cared not for the guy who hesitantly stepped closer.
Turning to face the shelf behind her, strands of short blonde hair and a white tank top caught her attention. It's that old man again, isn't it? Irritated, one eye twitched at the thought before she glanced in his direction and saw a much younger man who was built.
"My head hurts... Hey- do you know where the two-liter water bottles are?" A glance was all he needed, to see her jerk a thumb to the other isle and avoid eye contact. "Thanks," With that he wandered away.
Occasional mumbles to himself as if he argued with another caught her ears and made her slits watch his backside. He's probably just talking to himself. From a shrug of her shoulders, Vei continued down the aisle and saw tiny boxes with spherical steel. Finally! As fast as her fingers could grab, she took a few boxes and stuffed them into her pockets. She was thankful that no one else was in the aisle, for she turned a corner and headed for the very back of the vast store.
Closer and closer she drew towards the double doors at the back and ignored a pair of curious eyes that watched her pass by. Her hands remained in her pockets to make it look like the bulges were her limbs and not anything she stole. Sideways she turned, pulled out a hand, and pushed one of the doors open. Rin would be much stealthier than me in this situation... Thoughts echoed as her boots thudded against the pavement when she stepped outside. However, when she stood there and listened for the door that was supposed to shut on its own, no such sound occurred.
"Ah, you're broke? Not too shabby. What do you plan to use those things for?" It was the Flamethrower again, the ash smell and his particular voice filled her ears.
"Just leave her alone... Dabi. No- kick her ass! She's just trying to get by like the rest of us, leave her alone. Like the rest of us?! We don't even know whose side she's on!" Behind her, the blond man from before pointed fingers in her direction just to have the other hand push it down.
Sighing, Vei wasn't in the mood to be pestered. Regardless of them being there, her feet thudded as she walked away.
"And... She's getting away. Noooo, stop.~" Sarcasm laced Dabi's words as he watched her leave the area and step more into the shadows.
These guys are really pissing me off. I figured they would've learned by now when I did that little stunt in the shadowed alley. Maybe I should find some flash grenades or something. One eye twitched when she wandered about and did her best to ignore their intent stares.
An explosion made one of the other store entrances nearby, burst out onto the paths and make her halt upon a cry for help. Not only her but the two behind her who followed and the citizens, all watched a monster of sorts crawl out of the store.
This isn't my problem. The last time I jumped in, I was scolded or looked down on so- no thanks. With an adjustment of her sunglasses, she continued and passed by the monster who rampaged.
"Is she insane?" The blond next to Dabi, questioned and kept his attention on the unfazed woman. "Yes, she is! Just like the rest of us!" His tight fist and a dangerous expression swiftly replaced his once dumbstruck look but regardless of his words, he didn't receive a reply from the Flamethrower.
Although the situation was dire since the monster swung its arms and relentlessly flailed to try and kill everyone around, Vei performed simple evasive maneuvers. Ducking on occasion, catching an arm then pushing it away, she was rather chill unlike most who would run and scream in terror. This is getting old. Am I seriously the only one that doesn't care? Why do people have to scream and run away? Why can't citizens just attack like some sort of antivirus? There's plenty of people here. I swear- this is why I don't like people. Her effortless movements and lack of care for the monster left a lot of citizens confused.
Her thoughts, full of complaints, kept her distracted long enough for the monster to target her and pull back a strong, giant fist. "Raaaah! Don't ignore me!" Down came the knuckles and landed right where she was. From the impact came a cloud of dust, but once it cleared, it left the monster flabbergasted when it noticed she wasn't there. The next thing it knew, it felt its head twist and emit a nasty pop.
Vei's boot stomped onto its head after snapping its neck and making it fall face-first onto the pavement. The heavy thud and faint airwaves it sent out proved how large it was, especially when the tiny quake it gave shook nearby store windows.
"Take what you get," Sharp her eyes were, monsters never fail to piss her off and they always seem to follow her wherever she goes. Carelessly she stepped off of its cranked-around head and made her way towards the mall's exit. The faint whispers and murmurs sounded like an annoying chorus around her. However, in her peripherals was a glimpse of the old man from before. Nonetheless, she ignored him and pushed past the front doors of the building.
Near the monster she took down came a whistle from Dabi and a smirk. "Damn... And I thought Shigaraki was brutal. Looks like she's holding a lot of her strength back," Grinning, he was, before he too wandered away and left the new corpse to the people.
"Ah! Oh no! I almost forgot about the water bottles! Fuck your bottles!" The blonde sprinted and ignored the latter comment, as he rushed back to the store from earlier.

Later that day, Vei returned to the shack. There weren't any odd jobs she could find along her exploration so she hung around the beach near the building and sat with her knees against her chest. The sunset almost kissed the horizon and the peaceful waves complemented the silence, there weren't any citizens scattered about since it was so late in the day and nighttime was around the corner.
"Rin must be asleep. She hasn't said much for a while now," Quietly to herself she spoke and pulled out one of the boxes with the Steel Balls she stole before. Carefully the cardboard was ripped and took it out. One after another she removed Balls from the boxes and put them back into her pockets. "So... Some jerks are on my case. Some heroes and some Villains, wow, why does that sound so familiar? It couldn't have anything to do with the same situation I had in my world, could it?" Sarcasm laced her words when she rolled her eyes and removed her sunglasses.
Carefully she used the edge of her shirt to clean the lenses and was about to place them back on when a gentle hand kept her from doing so. "What the-" As swift as she could, Vei whipped around and stood to her feet.
"Relax, it's just me," The long-haired blonde from before, the old man, defensively waved his hand and gave her a nervous chuckle to appear as harmless as possible.
Green hues watched him sit down and cross his legs in the sand, never did he return his gaze to her but instead, he viewed the sunset. Reluctant, she was, a couple of inches away from the man was taken when she sat back down and put the sunglasses into a pocket. I shouldn't have let my guard down! I should've picked up on his scent! Why do I do such a poor job compared to Rin?! Infuriated, her brows knitted when her thoughts went on a rampage.
"I overheard what you just said," For a moment, he paused in hopes she'd speak but when silence only met his ears he continued and sighed. "If you had told me at the restaurant I wouldn't be following you everywhere. I would've believed you if you told me that you weren't from this world," Contemplative he was as he recalled the strange strength she has and the recent events he saw her in.
His words were enough to make her gasp, astonished, that someone would believe such a thing when stuff like that was only found in stories and movies. Impossible- anyone would think I was insane or pulling their leg if I said I wasn't from here. Who is this guy, anyway? To the side, her glance gave her enough time to look at his eyes and recall similar hues from a buff man she had run into before. Is he... No, he can't be. Then again he could be, since there's a thing called Quirks in this world that are like Powers. Pondering to herself, her lack of response made the blonde speak again.
"Let's start over. I go by the Hero name: All Might- but outside of that, you can just call me Toshinori Yagi. And you are?" Toshinori did his best to sound as friendly and understanding as possible, lest he lose his chance to figure out who she was. The reassuring grin and those sunken blue eyes which shined with determination, met green ones.
"How much do you know? Besides what you saw earlier and what you overheard from me?" Strict, straight to the point, her attention returned to the sunset, and leaned over to lay her chin on her forearms.
" About as much as what you said. I just want to know what your goal is and whose side you're on," The soft breeze and the faint cries of seagulls only added to the serene beauty of the ocean, regardless, he kept his eyes glued to the brute woman.
With a sigh of defeat, she stood up and headed towards the shack. "Meet me in the shack here later tonight and my friend will tell you everything," All signs of annoyance depleted when she gave up trying to avoid the man. Rin... I hope you can handle this better than me. After a yawn escaped her lips, words reached her ears and made her halt.
"Alright. I'll bring over something to eat too, I didn't get to eat lunch since you left the restaurant," His toothy grin and pleased expression, which she saw after she glanced at him over her shoulder, showed that he was genuine.
"Whatever," With that, she continued and entered the shack, not once did she care to continue their conversation but the sound of food did make her stomach roar like a tiger.
Her jacket was removed, her sunglasses were placed elsewhere, and her boots were taken off when she went in. Thankfully she still had some paper left, for she wrote a note to Rin regarding the events and who she needed to speak with after she'd taken over her body. The Steel Balls she stole stayed in her jacket pockets, that way it'd save room in the suitcases for the other stuff.

The next few hours were boring but the sound of ocean waves made it peaceful enough to fall asleep. After a certain amount of time passed, a pair of slits, much thinner than Vei's, opened.
As the many times before, Rin took control and gradually sat up. All around the shack, she examined everything, just in case something was amiss until her eyes landed on a note plastered on the door. Vei... Emotionless, her slits were, as she moved her legs around and stepped close to read the note.
'Rin, the guy told me about who smelled like ash, just in case you don't remember- he followed me all over the mall and outside of it. There was this strange man too who would switch his sentences a lot, he had short blond hair and looked tired. I didn't get to get a whiff of his scent but I did his appearance. I got the Steel Balls too, hopefully, they'll come in handy... And the guy who smelled like decay, I had to scare him and his guys off because they wouldn't leave me alone. Be careful, Rin. Who knows what they're gonna try next? There was this monster too, I had to snap his neck because he wouldn't leave me alone... And one more thing- There was a blonde old man and he found out about us not being from this world, he eavesdropped on me when I was talking to myself... So, I told him to wait for you. You'll have a much better time explaining everything.'
The note she read caused a sigh to escape Rin's lips when she closed her eyes. Vei... You do so much in so little time. Our Master always had a much harder time training her in the past. So, aside from all of that... We both need to find good times of the day to train ourselves more. Contemplating, her feet turned and she began to dress herself in her signature attire.
Her shorts, and short top which exposed her pale skin, the claw bracers were soon slipped onto her forearms and ankles. Next, her leg warmers were pulled over top and almost hid her unique soundless black shoes that looked like socks with pads. Onto her forearms came those warmers that reached close to her elbows, which hid the majority of the top of her hands and concealed her claws.
The white mask came after, for it covered her upper lips and was shaped like a feline's face; cat fangs built into the mask protruded on the upper lip's corners. The moonlight shone through the cracks of the shack and made her mask gloss like plastic. Lastly, it was her green ribbon that she always used to tie her hair into a bun save for a few loose strands that refused to stay.
The white fingerless gloves nearly blended in with her arm warmers as her silent steps wandered to the door and cracked it open. There in the small space where she could peek, she saw the blond man Vei had mentioned. He's asleep... Very quietly she stepped out, her padded feet making subtle crunches in the sand and closed the door behind her.
Cautious, her guard high, Rin kept her attention on the old man after she sat like a cat next to his figure. Her attention moved to the beautiful moon that always seemed to put her into a trance, with its soft glow and spherical shape.
After seconds to minutes passed, a snort to her side, which hardly surprised her, reached her ears, and saw in her peripherals that he sat up. "Ah... Are you the friend that woman told me about?" With a rub of his eye, she saw the blonde yawn and stretch high above his head. "I take it- your silence means yes?" A simple nod, Rin confirmed and moved her attention back to the moon when she saw him knit his brows. "Who's side are you on? Hero or Villain? While the other woman was asleep I decided to catch up with some of the other heroes and received news that the other woman and another in a feline suit seemed to fight both sides. What is it you're trying to do?" Rin didn't have to look to know that he sat up straighter and turned his head to her more.
"I will explain... Although it'll take a while to do so," Quietly, she answered and ignored the confused stare she saw in her peripherals.
