So guys, welcome back to the fourth chapter of the first book of the Resilient Spider-Man novel series. Before I get started, happy late new year, and I hope all of you guys are having a good 2024 so far since we're a few weeks in. If you guys are wondering if I'm doing a seven book series, I am gonna be doing it since the seventh book is a surprise. I haven't gotten started on that yet since I want to take my time to write and publish the first six novels before the seventh and final instalment. Anyway, this is the fourth chapter and in this chapter, Adam meets with Rebecca and he ends up finding the original Spider-Man, but what he doesn't know that Peter is the original Spider-Man who's been protecting New York for many years. So, this is chapter number four, and let's get to it. I hope you guys will like it.

I only own my OCs and my own plot.

After changing from his homemade suit into his regular clothes, Adam went to meet with Rebecca at Starbucks, as she wanted to speak to him. Entering Starbucks, he looked around to see which table she was sitting at. Having noticed him looking for her, the Japanese female teen stood up from her seat and waved her hand down at him. The Chinese teen hurried over and sat down across from her as he placed his backpack underneath the table.

"Why did you want to meet me here?" he asked.

"I need to know something." she replied before asking him, "Are you Spider-Man?"

"What? No, of course not. Why would you think that?" he said.

"Then explain your hand being stuck on the football at lunch today." she pressed.

"I don't know what happened, all right? Because it is not normal for my own hand to get stuck on one football. Is that all you wanted to hear?" he snapped.

Becca paused. Adam was taking it really personal, as she realized she had asked him the wrong question.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..." she began.

"Forget it. I'll call you later." he said as he grabbed his backpack and left Starbucks.

After leaving Starbucks, Adam went to find the original Spider-Man, as he hoped to get some answers and learn why he was bitten by one of the radioactive spiders. Instead of changing back into his homemade suit, Adam decided to wear his regular clothes, not wanting to draw any suspicion, as he thought that people would start asking him a bunch of questions such as him being Spider-Man since they have one already.

While he was walking down a street, he suddenly bumps into a bystander.

"Apologies." the bystander called.

"No problem." Adam replied.

Continuing to walk down a street, he was suddenly swooped up by a figure wearing a familiar blue and red costume with a white spider symbol on the front, and Adam looked to see someone none other than the original Spider-Man himself.

"What the?" Adam asked.

The original Spider-Man kept swinging until he gently dropped Adam to the ground at a safe location somewhere in Queens, as the Chinese teen got up and swiftly backed away.

"Spider-Man?" asked Adam.

"Easy kid. I'm not here to hurt you." Spider-Man said in a very calm tone.

"And why should I trust you?" Adam pressed.

The original Spider-Man then took off his mask, revealing himself to be none other than Peter Parker.

"Dr. Parker?" Adam questioned in shock.

"How you doing, young man?" asked Peter.

"I don't understand." Adam replied, still feeling shocked that the original Spider-Man turned out to be Peter Parker.

"I know I have a lot of explaining to do. But first, you can't tell your friends that I'm Spider-Man." Peter stated firmly.

Adam was still in shock because he had no idea on who Spider-Man is and why he wears a mask at all times while he was swinging around New York.

Moments later, Peter began to explain to Adam about being the original Spider-Man and how he had found out that Adam was swinging around Manhattan in his homemade costume. Adam would then learn that Peter's wife Mary Jane was the first to find out that Peter was Spider-Man. The Chinese teen would also learn that Peter had lost Uncle Ben and then Aunt May beforehand until Peter married Mary Jane and had a daughter named Mayday, named after Aunt May. Adam was shocked that Peter had to go through so much since losing both Uncle Ben and Aunt May.

"I'm sorry about Aunt May, Dr. Parker." said Adam.

"Just call me Peter. We're not around the ESU or your high school." Peter corrected.

"Peter, can you please explain to me why I was bitten by one of spiders during the field trip?" asked Adam.

"The reason why the spider bit you is because it chose you to become the next Spider-Man." Peter replied.

"But why me and not someone else?" asked Adam.

"Because I'm getting ready to retire from my duties as Spider-Man soon and MJ needs me to be a dedicated husband and father to our daughter Mayday. And I want to pass my mantle on to someone else." Peter replied.

Adam was shocked, not knowing that Peter is getting ready to pass on the Spider-Man mantle over to someone else since Peter wants to spend time and settle down with MJ and Mayday.

The next day, Adam was getting ready to go to school, as Peter had decided to train him in order to become the next Spider-Man. But the only condition that Peter has for him is that the Chinese teen has to focus with his education and do well in his tests and exams, and Peter gave Adam an upgraded classic red and blue suit with a different spider emblem on the front and back as well as new web shooters.

Debating on whether he should put his clothes over on his homemade or his new suit, Adam puts his on his clothes over his new suit and hides his homemade suit somewhere safe in his closet so that his parents would not find it and ask him.

After leaving his apartment, Adam goes to an alleyway and changes into his new suit and stashes his clothes in backpack before putting his backpack back on and swings off to Midtown High. While he was swinging, he heard someone crying out for help as a thief was running down the street with the backpack in hand.

"Hey!" Adam called.

The thief stopped and looked around to see who was calling out to him.

"Who said that?!" the thief demanded.

Standing on a lamp post, Adam fired two web lines and pulled the thief up and webbed him up like a cocoon, making him drop the backpack.

"Stay there!" Adam shouted as he grabbed the backpack.

Dropping down with the retrieved backpack in his hands, he asked the owner, "You okay, miss?"

"Yeah, thanks." she replied.

Giving the backpack to the owner, Adam was shocked to see that Becca was the owner of the backpack.

"Thanks, Spider-Man." she said.

"Yeah, no prob." said Adam, still in shock that one of his friends almost got robbed.

Turning away, he was about to swing out of sight until Becca called him, "Hey! Can you do me a favour?"

Slowly turning around, Adam nodded.

"Can you please tell my friend Adam that I'm sorry for asking him the wrong question?" she asked.

Clearing his throat, Adam used his disguised voice and replied, "Sure. I'll tell him."

Adam jumped up and swung out of sight, hoping that he'll get to school in time. He was still in disbelief that Becca almost got robbed, but she was lucky that he was there to stop the thief in time.

After arriving at school on time, Adam changes into his clothes over his new suit and walked to the entrance. Going to his locker, Adam stashed his backpack in his locker and grabbed a textbook as well as a notebook out of his backpack before closing his locker and went to physics class. While he was on his way to physics class, some of the students had gathered around and Adam went to see what was happening. And right before his eyes, Ned was bullying someone else, and the kid looked around to be an African American. And there was absolutely no way that Adam was gonna let Ned bully and harass the new kid.

"Hey!" Adam barked as he dropped his textbook and notebook and quickly ran in to interfere.

The Chinese teen pulled grabbed Ned by his shoulders and shoved him to the ground.

"The hell is your problem, Leeds?" Adam growled.

"None of your business, new kid!" Ned shouted.

Ned tried to punch Adam, but thanks to his new Spider-Sense, as Peter called it, Adam swiftly moved out of the way. Adam then grabbed Ned's good throwing arm and locked it behind his back before shoving the jock to the locker.

"I already got into trouble yesterday and I don't need to get into trouble again today." Adam snarled furiously before whispering in Ned's ear, "And you're the one that's gonna get in trouble."

"Hey, what's going on here?" Principal Morita called.

"Sir, Leeds is bullying this new kid here just because of his cultural background." Adam replied.

"That's enough, Adam. I'll take it from here. The rest of you, get to class." Principal Morita barked.

Principal Morita led Ned away to the office as Adam went to check on the new kid.

"Hey, you all right?" he asked.

"Yeah, thanks. You didn't really need to interfere and help me out." the new kid replied.

"Don't worry about Leeds. He's not even gonna get into college if he keeps up with the bullying." said Adam.

The new kid then introduced himself as Shane Bradley, the grandson of Isaiah Bradley, a super soldier and a former US Army soldier.

Sometime later, Becca wanted to meet with Adam outside at the football field, as she wanted to apologize to him for what happened yesterday.

"Adam, I'm so sorry for asking you the wrong question yesterday. I didn't mean to make you snap at me." she began.

"It's not your fault, Becca. I didn't mean to take it so personally because you thought that I was Spider-Man. And I forgive you, Becca." he said.

Elsewhere, a mysterious figure, all dressed up in purple, broke into Stark Industries and started stealing every weapons and technology that Tony Stark had built and developed.

'Stark definitely needs to increase his security.' the Prowler thought.

Aware that the authorities would be out looking for him, the Prowler quickly left the building as he thought about the only relative in his mind, and that is none other than his nephew Miles Morales. But the only problem is that his brother and sister in law would not allow him to go near Miles.

Oh, boy. The Prowler has finally showed up here at long last. So, what do you guys think of chapter four? In case if you're wondering, I added the Miles Morales Easter egg there because I thought it would be a good idea to bring him here as an Easter egg. And yes, I'll be introducing Miles at some point in one of the sequels. In the next chapter, Adam begins training with Peter and a tragedy awaits on the other side. So, let me know what you guys thought of chapter four in the reviews, and I'll see you in chapter five.
