Hiccup enjoys his daily morning flight with Toothless. Ever since his first kiss with Astrid in the cove then "kidnapping" her to show her his point of view he hasn't been able to clear his head. Nevermind after beating the red dead and losing his leg she kissed him on the lips in front of everyone. He stops for a moment and then realises like he has done many times before that his dad was there as well. His face turned a light shade of pink when thinking about that. Public displays of affection between non married or engaged couples was rare in Berk. In fact Hiccup could not think of the last time someone did.
Hiccup looked at where the sun was in the sky and realised that he had been flying for about 2 hours. He sighed realising he had once again spent way to long dwelling on the recent events and he had other things to do. He spoke to Toothless "Hey bud, its about time we head back. Got another busy day today im afraid." Toothless was confused, he could sense that Hiccup was confused and that his hormones were somewhat different compared to normal. They were closer to the flight with Astrid than any other flight. He has been like this for a couple of days now, he has not seen Astrid again since that fight but he knew that Hiccup was missing her. He believed that Hiccup wanted to mate with her but he was confused as to why he was not attempting to get close to her as when he came back after a days of work he smelled of smoke and not of Astrid at all and that has been the case since he woke up except for that first day.
Toothless turned around and grumbled concernedly at Hiccup. Hiccup realised that his friend was asking him what was wrong. He responded "Ah its nothing you can help with bud. Its just that i haven't been able to get close to Astrid since that day i woke up and i really want to but whenever i get some free time and i spot her she turns away and speeds up and i eventually lose her. I dont know why she does that especially since she kissed me in front of everyone even my dad, and now she wont even come within 10 feet of me". Hiccup sighs as he has been wanting an answer to that question for a good couple days now.
Eventually after a good while of flying they land back in Berk to Gobbers frustration "Where the hell have you been boy?" he asks frustratingly. "You have been gone way longer than you should for 5 days in a row now. Its because of Astrid isnt it?" he asks accusingly. Hiccup blushes a bright red and stutters his response "U umm i.. I dont know w.. What your talking about Gobber. Toothless j j just needs e e extra long morning flights recently." Gobber looks at his without moving with an expression that says Just tell the truth. Hiccup sighs and nods positively. Gobber nobs with him and says "Thought so, come on, if your going to be late so many times i cant get what i need done so well go talk to your lassy together." Hiccup looks surprised but once he gets over the initial shock he follows behind with a slight limp still getting used to his new leg.
After a couple minutes of walking they arrive infront of the Hofferson household and Gobber knocks on the door and turns towards hiccup and says "Let me speak as ya just keep scarin of the girl, thats the problem with ya i bet."
The door opens and out steps Astrids mother Freya she looks at Hiccup and Gobber on her front door and speaks gentle "Im afraid you have the wrong household we havent ordered anything from the smithy recently im afraid." As she turns back around Gobber speaks up "Thats not why im here miss." She looks back at Gobber a bit confused and askes "Then please come in and lets have a conversation then, i so rarely get guests and it just so happens im in the middle of making some soup and i insist you try it."
Gobber and Hiccup both step into the house with Gobber bashing his head on the door frame obviously being a bit small for a viking of his size to fit comfortably through. They both follow Miss Hofferson through the house until they make it to the kitchen where they both take a seat and say thanks to Freya for her hospitality. Gobber looks at Freya and asks in a weird tone "Will your husband be home any time soon?". Miss Hofferson looks at him with a glint of fear in her eyes but Hiccup cant tell why as she holds her thigh and responds "He is out hunting with Astrid, im expecting them both to be home near dusk so i dont believe so unless one gets injured". Gobber responds "Ah probably for the better as Hiccup here has been late to his job for the past 5 days due to your daughter and we wanted to talk to just you anyways." Hiccup shoots a glare at Gobber then back over to Miss Hofferson who was now looking confused at him.
Gobber then responds "You see, as you well know both of them kissed 5 days ago and i believe this young man here has become infatuated with your daughter and is confused as to why she is now avoiding him at all costs. And i was hoping you would be able to add in a bit of clarity as to why that is the case." Miss Hofferson looks at Gobber and then looks at Hiccup and sighs before responding "Well Hiccup, im glad you like my daughter and i like you as well and i believe you and my daughter would do quite well together her father doesnt agree at all and believes it best for her to stay as far away from you as possible. Maybe he will change his mind but i hope you understand." Hiccup stares at her as he feels his heart beating in his throat as he responds softly "Oh, thank you for your time then Miss Hofferson" as he stands up and quickly leaves the house with tears begging to form in his eyes. Gobber and Freya look at each other with despair without saying anything as they hear the front door open and then close.
