AUTHOR'S NOTE: This musical one shot takes place during the episode, Flirting With Disaster and I'm using one of my favourite songs from WICKED The Musical.

I'M NOT THAT GIRL

"Did you really mean that Sam?" Valerie asked as she came out of her hiding place, hearing what Sam had said.

Sam merely pretended to smile and said nervously, "Uh….yeah of course! If Danny likes you, then the least we can do is give you a chance."

Valerie felt so happy and pulled her into a hug. Sam muttered under her breath, "Human contact. Crushing Goth indifference."

She let her go and then said, "I'll catch up with you later. I'm meeting Danny before class."

As soon as Valerie left, Sam looked down. After Danny had said that he seemed he definitely wanted to be together with Valerie, she couldn't help but feel her heart broken a little bit.

Tucker noticed her looking down and asked, "Sam, are you okay?"

"I…I don't know Tuck…I….I think I need to be alone." Sam said before heading off herself.

She walked over to a nearby blossom tree and just sighed in sadness. She pressed her back against it and slid down, pressing her knees to her chest and just continued to think about Danny. She remembered when her feelings had begun to grow stronger for Danny, during their first encounter with Ember.

SAM

Hands touch, eyes meet

Sudden silence, sudden heat

(FLASHBACK)

Danny entered back into the Spectre Speeder and was shaking his hands feeling cold from fighting Klemper. Sam grabbed his hands and placed them in hers, helping them keep warm. The two looked at each other, before looking away and blushing madly.

After Danny defeated Ember, he flew back to the side of the stage and changed back into his human form. Sam and him hugged each other, before they pulled away and Sam blushed.

Sam held onto Danny as they flew in the air, heading towards Bucky's Music Mega Store. She couldn't help but look up at him and smiled warmly as the sun shone down on him.

Hearts leap, in a giddy whirl

He could be that boy

But I'm not that girl

Since that time, she had begun to see Danny in a whole new light and what began as a crush has seemed to turn into really strong feelings that she liked him, more than just a friend. That definitely explained why she felt jealous when he was dating Paulina, even though Kitty was controlling her.

She watched as Danny and Paulina headed for lunch together, after Paulina (Kitty) announced that they were dating. She punched a locker, causing a large dent after claiming to Tucker she was feeling alright, when really she wasn't.

"Paulina wasn't interested in him before, so why now?! He shouldn't be with her! He should be with…." She stopped her thoughts, shaking her head and denying her real feelings.

Don't dream too far

He could be that boy

But I'm not that girl

One of the cherry blossoms fell from the tree and landed near Sam's feet. She picked it up and held it in her hands. She had so many chances to let Danny know how she feels, but she always kept letting them slip past because she was often denying it and thought it was just a silly crush and she would get over it. But now….she knew now it wasn't just a silly crush but she really liked him.

She looked up at the sky and began picturing what it would be like if she and Danny were together.

Every so often we long to steal

To the land of what-might-have-been

(IN HER MIND)

Her and Danny were sitting together, having a picnic lunch. He made up a joke and she began to laugh. The two sat together in the cinema as the movie played, both of them reaching in to grab some popcorn, when their hands touch. They look at each other warmly and then continued to watch the movie as they held hands and she lays her head on his shoulder.

The two of them are then sitting in front of a camp-fire, listening to the sounds of nature at night.

But that doesn't soften the ache we feel

When reality sets back in

Her imagination then stops as she remembers that he has been currently hanging out with Valerie and it seems, like he was already making his own decision about possibly asking her to be his girlfriend. She looked down in sadness and started to believe that….maybe there was a girl he wanted….and it wasn't going to be her.

Blithe smile, lithe limb

She who's winsome, she wins him

Brown hair, with a gentle curl

That's the girl he chose

And heaven knows

I'm not that girl

She allowed the blossom to now fly away in the gentle breeze from her hand and remembered how he and Valerie were looking at each other, when she spied on them during their date at the carnival.

(FLASHBACK)

She looked through the binoculars and watched as the Ferris Wheel came to a stop at the top. Valerie smiled as she saw the lights in the distance spell DF+VG. She smiled warmly and laid her head on Danny's shoulder, causing him to smile warmly back at her.

Sam felt something wet trail down her face and placed her hand gently on her cheek, she then pulled it away and found it was a tear. More began to slowly fall as she finally allowed her true feelings to show. As much as she wanted to be with Danny, she couldn't stop him from being happy, even if it meant that she would just be his best friend and not something more.

She buried her face in her knees and remained there, allowing her tears to fall from her broken heart.
