AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hey guys! Sorry for the delay in chapters and everything, especially for my newer stories. I have been sick and not with COVID again thank goodness! It was gastro and let me tell you it was horrible! Anyway, a new chapter for The Emperor's New Groove DP Style will be published tomorrow and hopefully during the long weekend, an update to my Danny Phantom X TMNT Crossover series.

Anyway, enjoy this new one shot.

ALWAYS THERE

It had been a couple of days since 12 year old Danielle had run away from her parent's Sam and Danny. She had gotten into a huge fight with her father after she had snuck out to see a concert in the Ghost Zone after he and Sam had told her she couldn't go.

She had yelled at him that they were being unfair and overprotective, but Danny just argued back that he was trying to protect her since there were so many of his enemies that would hunt her down because she was the daughter of Danny Phantom.

That's when she screamed at him and told him that she didn't want to be his daughter. Danny yelled back and grounded her for a month.

As soon as Danny and Sam were asleep, she said goodbye to her 2 year old brother who was asleep in his bed and ran away, flying to the Ghost Zone.

But that wasn't what was upsetting her now as she sat down on one of the floating rocks in her human form.

What was upsetting her was how she treated her best friend Youngblood, when he just tried to help her earlier.

"Dani…..maybe you should head home?" Youngblood suggested, after he found her and she told him everything that happened at home. "Your parents must be worried sick about you."

Dani scoffed and said, "I don't care. I'm not going back Youngblood. I'm staying here in the Ghost Zone where I can be free and not have to deal with them. Especially my dad. He just thinks I can't handle myself."

"I'm sure he doesn't think that. He just wants to protect you. Any parent does." Youngblood said.

"Yeah well….he's too overprotective. Plus, he thinks I'll be targeted just because I'm his daughter." Dani said, still angry at her dad.

She sighed and then said, "You're so lucky Youngblood."

"What do you mean?" He asked, not sure what she meant by that.

"I mean, you don't have parents to yell, tell you what to do or anything. You get to do whatever you want and no-one can stop you." She answered.

Youngblood's eyes widened and that's when he snapped, "THAT DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T MISS THEM!"

Her eyes widened in shock. Never had Youngblood snapped at her like that before. Before she could say anything, Youngblood continued, "You think I was happy after I died?! That I was glad to be free from mum and dad? Well you're wrong! Every single day I miss them! There's not a moment where I don't think about them! I miss their smiles, their love and heck, I even miss when they yelled at me for something I did wrong!"

Dani then realised what she said and then tried to apologise, "Youngblood I…."

But he just cut her off, tears falling from his eyes, "If anyone is the lucky one, it's you Dani! You're lucky you even have parents! I would give anything just to be back with mine! To have them watch me grow up! Just to hear them say my name when I come home from school or when we went to the park! My biggest regret, was that I didn't listen to them. I didn't head their warning when they told me not to go playing in the park at night."

That's when Dani realised, he was talking about his death. Youngblood then said one last thing as he continued to cry, "I miss them….so much….."

He then flew off, before Dani could stop him.

And that's when Dani realised that Youngblood was right. She was lucky to have parents. She continued to look down as she muttered, "I'm sorry Youngblood. I'm so sorry."

As Dani sat there, she didn't realise that Walker and a couple of his men were watching her. Walker looked at her with a grin and signalled his men to turn invisible. As they got closer to her, Dani's ghost sense went off and she suddenly gasped when Walker and his men appeared, surrounding her in a circle.

She changed into her ghost form and was about to fly off, but one his men shot a blast at her with their batons and she was suddenly cuffed at her hands and feet. She dizzily tried to fly off, but Walker's men grabbed her by the arms and held her still.

She struggled in her grip and then Walker chuckled as he floated up to her, causing her to look at him with fear.

"Well, well, well. What have we here? Phantom's daughter." Walker said, his grin not dropping. "Well, since I can't ever seem to capture your father and throw him back in my prison, I guess you should serve his 1000 year sentence instead. Hope you have enjoyed your freedom ghost girl, because now it's off to my prison with you."

Dani gasped and his men attached cuffs to her wrists that prevented her from her phasing out of them and escaping. They threw her in the back of the van and then began to head off to the Ghost Zone prison, Walker letting off a victory laugh as they drove off.

Dani kicked and punched the doors, but they would not budge. Thanks to the cuffs, they diminished her ghostly strength.

She changed back into her ghost form and slid to her knees, tears falling from her eyes.

"How could I have been so stupid?!" Dani shouted to herself.

She continued to look down and then said in sadness, "Dad and Youngblood were right. I wish I was home. I want my mum, dad and even my little brother."

She looked out her small window and watched as the floating islands went past as they headed for the prison. Her thoughts were to her family and she kept wishing she was with them. She missed them and she realised, that this was what they were trying to protect her from.

DANI

Always there to warm you in the winter

Always there with shelter from the rain

She looked back on all the memories of her playing with her family and her dad teaching her how to control her powers.

Always there to catch you when you're falling

Always there to stand you up again

Family

Dani also thought back to what Youngblood said. She was lucky to have a family when there were so many both on Earth and in the Ghost Zone who didn't have a family to call their own.

Youngblood flew around the town of Amity Park as the full moon shone down. Looking down as he thought back to his fight with Dani and his own family. He stopped in front of a house and turned invisible as he watched a father and son play catch in the backyard. He remembered when he was alive, how his dad would play cowboys, outer space, catch and all kinds of games

YOUNGBLOOD

By your side in seconds if you ask it

Arms out wide to welcome you to stay

He then flew over to another house and looked through the window, watching a mother tuck in her daughter as she got into bed. The girl smiled as her mother gave her a kiss on the forehead as she went to sleep and the mother smiled warmly at her.

Youngblood remembered his own mother tucking him into bed like that and reading him stories.

He went back to the Ghost Zone and stopped by the home of Box Ghost, his wife Lunch Lady and their daughter Box Lunch. He watched as Box Lunch created a huge sandwich with salad and meat and also, created a lunch box.

Box Ghost and Lunch Lady smiled proudly at her daughter and gave her a family hug. Youngblood smiled sadly and kept thinking how his own family did that. He really missed them.

DANI AND YOUNGBLOOD

Danny had finished placing his son into his bed, ruffling his hair and giving him a smile. It then dropped when he could still see the small tear tracks on his face. Young Danny Jr missed his big sister and so did his wife and himself. After another day of searching, they still couldn't find Danielle.

Caring and devoted hearts

He kept blaming himself because of the fight they had before she ran away. He believed he was too hard on her and now, he had no idea where she was or if he was even going to see her again.

Sam watched as her husband walked sadly to Dani's room and sat down on the bed. He picked up the photo frame of them all together as a family and he traced the picture of Dani. Tears began to fall from his eyes.

SAM

With endless love to share

Sam sat next to her husband and they both embraced each other, comforting each other as they continued to miss their daughter.

Love that will follow you everywhere

Dani continued to think about her family and if she ever managed to escape, she was going to go home and be with her family. The people who have always been there for her.

DANI

Youngblood began to search for Dani, hoping he could convince her to go home to her family. His mind flooding with memories from his time with his own when he was alive.

YOUNGBLOOD

What is a family?

Danny and Sam looked out the window of Dani's bedroom, hoping that she will come home to them.

DANNY

As the van drove past Youngblood, he suddenly saw Dani through the window. His eyes widened and he shouted, "DANI!"

Dani looked out the window and shouted to him as he flew after the van, "Youngblood! Go get help! Go get dad!"

Youngblood nodded and immediately headed for the Fenton Portal. Walker opened the slot of the van and said, "Not long now until we reach the prison girly."

Youngblood flew as fast as he could and flew straight into the portal. He then shouted, "Phantom! Danny Phantom!"

Sam and Danny heard him from upstairs and ran down to the lab. Youngblood immediately told them, "Dani needs help! Walker's got her!"

"Lead me to him Youngblood." Danny ordered and changed into his ghost form, following Youngblood through the portal.

Dani looked through the slot and saw at the front window of the van that they were almost at the prison. Suddenly the entire van stopped and began to shake as it was hit by a deafening wail sound.

The back door broke open and Dani climbed out and watched as her father began beating up Walker and his men. Youngblood came over and unlocked Dani's cuffs with the key he managed to snatch off Walker while Danny was beating him up.

He then held them up by their collars and they were cowering in fear, "Phantom! / We're so sorry / Please don't hurt us / Uncle!"

"SHUT UP!" Danny roared at them in anger, his eyes burning green with fury.

"Okay! We'll shut up right now!" Walker said, he had never been so scared in his afterlife.

"If you ever come near my daughter again…." Danny sneered at them.

"Oh this is your daughter?! Did you know that?" Walker asked his officer on the right.

The officer shook his head fearfully and said, "No! Did you?"

"No of course not!" Walker lied, not wanting to be hurt anymore.

They both then looked at the second guard and asked, "Ed?"

The guard stupidly nodded and Danny sent a blast in the air, showing he wasn't messing around. The three ghosts waved goodbye and then flew off to the safety of the prison.

Danny then turned and smiled at Dani. Tears of happiness fell from her eyes as she flew up and hugged her father. Danny returned the hug back and just kept holding her in his arms. Youngblood smiled at them both.

Dani then started speaking, "Dad, I'm so sorry. I don't hate you. I just…."

"I know. I'm sorry too honey. I'm just glad you're safe." Danny said, as he continued to hug his daughter.

They both then turned to Youngblood and then Danny said, "Thanks Youngblood."

"You're welcome dude." Youngblood said, giving Danny a high-five.

Dani then looked down and said, "I'm sorry Youngblood. For what I said."

"I know and all is forgiven. I'm sorry for snapping at you like that." Youngblood said, smiling at his friend.

He then asked, "Want to play some baseball tomorrow?"

"Um…..Maybe….if I'm not still grounded?" Dani asked her dad hopefully.

Danny chuckled and said, "We'll talk about that later. Youngblood, come by tomorrow and we'll all play."

"AWESOME!" Youngblood said with a smile.

"Now let's go home." Danny said.

They said goodbye to Youngblood and then started heading back to the Fenton Portal, Dani feeling happy to finally go home.
